Fire and IceChapter 5
"Naki naga~ra hohoen de♪ Hitori ni~nareru made wa♪ Koko kara mada ugokenak-"The beautiful singing coming from Yuko was interrupted by sudden coughing.
A surprised Sayaka looks over to her side.
"You okay?"
*Cough* *Cough* "Yeah, just a little tickle in my throat."
"I wonder if drinking alcohol is affecting her singing voice..."Sayaka was reasearching her lyrics for a song her and Yuko sings together, while Yuko was practicing a song she wrote on her guitar.
"Hey, Sayaka, where are the others?"
KYAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"There they are."
The door opened to reveal three more members of the Light Music club. Very ikemen students.
The one in the middle had ruby red hair, the right student had golden blonde hair, and the left had midnight blue hair.
"Ah! Kuu-han, Kai-kun, Ricchan!"
Kojima Riku, Takahashi Kai, and Minegishi Kuu were three of the most ikemen students in school. And, three of the most popular members of the club.
... To girls, anyways.
"Sorry we're late. You won't believe how many girls are out there!"
"Oh, I can guess."
The other four started laughing. Then, everyone prepared their instruments.
"Alright! Everyone ready?"
"Hai!"
"Yo~shi! Let's do this!"
A-1, a-2, a-1, 2, 3, 4!!!
KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!As they practiced their songs, the fangirls outside were all acting like full on wotas.
Tiger! Fire! Cyber! Fiber! Diver! Viber! JYAA JYAAAA!"I've never heard a female version of a mix before," was Sayaka's first thought.
After rehersal, Yuko was clinging onto her boyfriend, Riku, while Kai and Kuu were signing autographs for some fans.
Sayaka was packing her stuff up, when she realized her blue rose was in her bag.
She must have unconsciously put it in there this morning.
Sae checked out early after lunch, so he never got to tell Sayaka any more about their past.
Suddenly, one of the schools first-year students, Mayu, came in yelling for Yuko.
Mayu and Yuko were like two little dogs who could play with each other forever. But, they were a strange pair.
"Se~no, Oshiri!"
Everyone else in school found the whole "oshiri" thing cute, but Sayaka just found it annoying.
"Nee, nee, Mayuyu, wanna hang out at my place later."
"Sure!"
Yuko suddenly pulled in the three other guys, too.
"These guys can come, too!"
"Eeeeehhh?!"
"Na~nte ne!" She pushed aside Kai and Kuu, and hugged Riku. "I just want Ricchan!"
You could clearly see sweat drops coming down their faces.
"I just don't get her, Kai..."
"Me neither..."
Mayu saw Sayaka sitting alone, still staring at her blue rose, and walked over to talk to her. She tapped her shoulder, which made Sayaka stand up, hiding
the rose behind her back.
"Nee, Sayaka-san."
"Eh? What?"
"Sayaka-san, do you wanna hang out with me and Yuko?"
"Uhh..."
At this point, Sayaka was slowly backing away and gripping the rose tightly in her hand.
"Sayaka, you okay?"
"I'm not really feeling well. I'm gonna head home."
She walked out the room and ran down the hallway, leaving everyone in shock.
Mayu tried to stop her, but she was too fast.
"I'm gonna go check up on her, okay?"
"Wait, Mayuyu!"
Yuko stopped Mayu and handed her Sayaka's bag.
"Take this."
She nodded, then ran down the same direction as Sayaka.
Mayu, almost completely out of breath, was barely catching up to Sayaka. She wasn't running anymore, but she was still far away from her.
"Sayaka-san!"
She didn't respond to Mayu's call, so she continued to follow her.
Sayaka, as if in a mindless trance, headed down a path in the forest, holding the blue rose out in her hand.
"Sayaka-san!!"
And again, no response.
"Where are you going? The way to your house is completely different from this..."After a while, Mayu finally caught up to her and stopped her in front of her tracks.
"Sayaka-san, what's wrong?"
She shaked her shoulders to try and get an answer, but she just stared at Mayu blankly and emotionless.
Mayu also noted that her eyes were no longer their regular dark brown, but now glowing a bright blue.
"Sayaka-san!"
Sayaka pushed her out of the way and continued towards a huge mansion in front of them.
Mayu was completely speechless. Who could possibly be living in such a place?
"Ai wo osore~runa~♪ Ushinau mono nado♪ Nani mo nai~♪""Eh? Who's that?"She heard someone singing, but she couldn't tell who.
"Kimi no kao ni~♪ Kimi no subete ga♪ Boku no hikizukete yume wo miseru~♪"Mayu took in a deep breath and nodded slightly, slowly following Sayaka into the mansion.
Sae's POV"Kimi wo daite~♪ Kimi to tomo~ ni~♪ Ai no hodou ni moete~♪ Eien no toki wo ikiru~♪"I was on the edge of the window in my library, feeling the light summer breeze. I couldn't help but sing this calming song.
I always sang it to Sayaka when we were together.
I also changed out of my school uniform and was now wearing my favorite black suit and white tie.
I slowly opened my eyes and heard the footsteps of my two maids, Tanabe and Nakaya.
They were robots created by my father to serve me.
"Sae-sama, we have brought your red wine for you."
"You may drink now, over here."
I nodded and jumped from the edge, landing on my feet and sat down in my couch.
As they poured the wine, I felt the ground with my feet.
She will be here soon...*RING RING*The bell in front of the mansion door rang, indicating someone opened it and came in.
"Are? Who could that be?"
Nakaya stopped pouring the wine and got up.
"I will go check."
As she was walking up the stairs, Sayaka walked in. As I expected, she wasn't resisting the hypnosis at all.
"Ano, coming in so freemindedly is very bothersome!"
"It's fine."
The maids bowed down and allowed Sayaka to walk down the stairs.
Tanabe and Nakaya walked closer to each other.
"Perhaps..."
"Could it be...?"
"This girl could be Sae-sama's lover!"
I just ignored the girls. I kept my watch at Sayaka and got up from the chair.
As she stepped down the final step and walked slowly toward me, I walked over to stop her.
I lightly held the blue rose and stared into Sayaka's eyes.
"Sayaka..."
I couldn't help but hear the two maids giggling over the scene.
"Sayaka, you can wake up."
I snapped my fingers and the blue glow in her eyes faded, returning them to their dark brown color again.
She blinked a few times, and the light returned in her eyes.
"Eh? What the-? What the hell am I doing here?!"
Awakening from her trance, she looked around and questioned how she even got here.
"Now then, please sit here."
"No, I'm fine! I was just going home."
She turned and gave me a slight glare.
"Besides, don't you like THOSE kind of women?"
"These girls are only my servants. You don't need to worry."
"I wasn't worried at all!"
I laughed a little, noticing her every little reaction.
"That's fine. Girls, go get her something to drink."
"Yes, sir."
The girls walked up the stairs and left the library, leaving me and Sayaka all alone.
I slowly walked back and sat down, offering her to sit once again.
End of Sae's POV
Sayaka's POVI look away from Sae for a second, clenching a fist in my hand.
"You didn't have to do that..."
"It was the only thing I could do. You didn't know the way here, so..."
After I glared at him a bit, his voice got silent. The room went completely silent, leaving the both of us in an awkward position.
I guess now's about the time to ask..."Sae... Are you lying to me?"
Sae suddenly got up from the couch.
"What? Why do you think that?"
"I was talking to Yuko today and she told me, 'Sometimes boys'll try to impress you by making up little stories. They'll usually say something COMPLETELY
ridiculous!'"
And, being a 500-year-old vampire falls into the "ridiculous" category perfectly.Sae slowly walked toward me, holding onto my hand.
"Sayaka... I wouldn't lie to you. If I was lying, I wouldn't have saved you that night."
Even though his story was hard to believe, he did save me that night.
But, it was too hard. I couldn't understand any of it.
Sae raised my hand and held the blue rose.
"This rose... This rose will never wilt. It will bloom for all eternity."
"Eternity..."
He bit his lower lip again, letting go of the rose.
"There must be a way to make you remember..."
"Sae, I understand you're trying to be nice. But, I'm sorry. Just you talking about such things is too much for me to handle. So-"
Sae suddenly pulled me close, our heads only inches apart. He was holding my head in position and didn't break hold.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing?!"
I tried to make him let go, but he was too strong.
"Let go!"
*BA-BUMP*Eh? What the-? What's happening?"S-Sae... W-what are... you doing...?"
My body was no longer struggling. I held on to Sae's arms tightly, my legs going weak.
"Rememberance spell. My sister taught it to me."
I squeezed onto Sae tighter, my head pounding like crazy. I was stuck in my current position, my head cupped in Sae's hands.
"Please, just trust me."
I slowly let my body relax and close my eyes, still holding onto his arms.
Unfamiliar images started filling my head. Ancient memories from an unknown time, with sounds and sights I could no longer remember.
"We grew up here. It's where we met."
My heart starts pounding faster and my eyes squeeze tighter.
"You had a heart of ice and studied different ways to talk to spirits. At night, the black magic would take over."
*BA-BUMP*My breathing got heavier, and I tightened my grip on Sae.
"I was the only one who could help you. I freed you from the curse."
"...But, there were still others after us."
That wasn't me. That answer wasn't me.
Or, at least, not this me.
It was my past self. She's... awakening?"Now, the hardest part. The final memory."
*BA-BUMP*I see... Tokyo, but it was ancient.
And, in ruins.
There was demonic purple fire, burning down everything."Now, what do you see?"
"...Hunters. They're after you."
The memories kept piling one after another.
It was too hard to keep up. I didn't want to accept those memories.
Now, I could barely stand up, and I was groaning in pain. I tried to hold on, but it was too intense.
"Just hold on a little longer."
Sae... I'm sorry... I c-can't...All at once, these painful memories became too vivid. I scream and push Sae away, both of us falling to the ground.
End of Sayaka's POVThe maids come in and rush to Sayaka and Sae's sides. Because of Sayaka's sudden scream, Nakaya drops the tray carrying their tea.
"Sae-sama!"
"Sayaka-san!"
Sae hit his head on the chair after being pushed, while Sayaka was holding onto herself for dear life.
Tanabe trys to calm her down.
"Sayaka-san, are you alright?"
Sayaka's eyes widen with fear and she pushes her arm away.
"No!!!"
"Sayaka!"
Sayaka runs up the stairs and storms out of the house. She keeps her arms crossed around her and tears fall freely from her eyes.
Sae just stands where he is and frowns, watching the love of his life leave his grasp more than ever.
He picks up the blue rose off the ground.
"She dropped it.""Sae-sama..."
The maids watch Sae as he stares at the rose.
"It might be a little too hasty right now."
He slowly lays the rose down on the table and sits back down on the couch.
"500 years ago, she was your lover, wasn't she, Sae-sama?"
"That's right. I was able to stop the black magic from controlling her."
He slowly lower his head, holding his hands together.
"But, she used a forbidden spell. And for my sake, too... I've waited for so long, and now I've found her."
Sae gained his confidence again and slowly rised.
"This time, I will make sure to protect her. And then, we can be together... Forever..."
To be continued... Work, work, work.
But, because of the snow (You people won't believe how much it snow yesterday!!!), I may have free time for a new update soon.
Until that day comes...
...See you soon
