Yeah, if I'm going to have my picky head on I thought 2012 and 13 were slightly missable. Sentai and KR both did good series but there wasn't any urge, like I HAVE to watch them. Maybe that was just how I was feeling at the time. I think the colour changing in Toqger has succeeded in recapturing some of the excitement of Gokaiger. It feels much more like my kind of show. I suppose it's more tricky to create a classic nowadays.

Garo Anime: Probably not going to do it

First, apparently Garo Honoo no Kokuin has been licensed by Funimation.

But this is good news, since everyone on staff (including the timer and translator) have watched it and didn't like it.

While it would have been nice, yeah, if it's licensed it's better if they don't do it just to keep themselves out of any potential legal shit.

Now having said that, it still wouldn't surprise me if some other group decides to go and sub it anyway.

Watched the Garo anime, had a EXCITE moment when I recognized the Zero armor and Ginga the metal unicorn lol. But otherwise it was very typical anime stuff with very little of what made Garo, Garo. I mean, other than the armor, the atmosphere was very different. The art style may have contributed to it, I suspect. Will keep watching just to see how they develop the story though...

Also watched Kamen Driver Rider Drive and I think I squealed when I saw the mini Hot Wheels as part of the attack combos. 4 form (or should that be gear?) shifts in the first ep, and I'm cautiously optimistic about the series. Gaim left really big boots for Drive to step into lol. I hope it's good though!

Still need to watch Makai no Hana, but....I did start watching Honoo no Konuin, a.k.a. Garo: The Animation.

First impression of the first episode: Typical action-oriented anime. Surprised how much they got away with the near-nudity. Zero's Zoro's armor looks awesome. Need to get use to Garo's slim look. And the flames/cracks on the left side. (There's probably a reason for those flames.)

After the first episode: Don't like how the translations call Makai Priests as Makai Alchemists. Guess whoever is doing the translating don't want viewers who are not familiar with Garo to be confused with the priests of the church(?) 

At least Jam project is doing the opening theme.

Watched the Sharivan movie. It was pretty good. Classic cop story stuff

Miura Riki (Sharivan) cutting his hair short was a massive plus. He looks way sharper that way.

I just couldn't remember who the blue guy was, when watching it. So frustrating...
Internets! He's Baba Ryoma  (Blue Buster from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters). Of friggin' course! {feels like an idiot}

Tetsuo Kurata Returns to Kamen Rider

An online posting has revealed the return of Tetsuo Kurata as Kotaro Minami in a new Kamen Rider movie coming in April.

Tetsuo Kurata, who played Kotaro Minami / Kamen Rider Black (RX) from 1987 to 1989 in Kamen Rider BLACK and Kamen Rider BLACK RX, will return to the role next year.

Revealed through an update on the website for his restaurant, Billy the Kid, is Kurata’s return to the franchise. This will be his third time reprising the role on screen after appearing in Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders VS DaiShocker. The post asks viewers to “enjoy Kotaro Minami’s new transformation,”.

Some news from the ongoing Garo event:
- Yami Terasu No Mono Season 2 confirmed (Garo Gold Storm), currently filming and will air in Spring. The filming for the Movie is complete and in post production
- Biku movie
- Raiga movie

Interesting to see that they're continuing the "Yami" storyline, and that they're doing it with both a series and a movie. Personally, I'm still treating it as an AU storyline for now; but who knows, since they've announced they're also doing a movie with Raiga, they may be planning on using that to actually tie them (the Kouga/Kaoru/Raiga storyline and the Yami storyline) together.

I'm still only 6 eps into "Makai no Hana", but I'm intrigued that they're already got a Biku movie in the works. At least with Jabi and Rekka, we had seen them quite a bit over several series and a couple of the movies before they came out with "Tougen no Fue".

Ayaka & Mizushima Hiro Expecting their First Child

On the 26th, it was reported that Mizushima Hiro (30) and wife, singer Ayaka (27) are epecting their first child.

Through a joint statement via their agency, they announced “We have been blessed with a new life”. Ayaka is currently 4 months pregnant. She will continue her work activities, including participating in NHK “Kohaku Uta Gassen”, until around spring of next year.

During their marriage press conference, it was announced that Ayaka is suffering from Graves’ disease. “Even after returning, I have always placed my health ahead of everything. After my doctor check up at the end of last year, my results show I am in a stable condition” she stated “It was a big opportunity to discuss having a child, which led to this moment”.

“We can only pray that this small life will grow healthily, Please watch over us warmly.”

The two scretly married in 2009 and announced the marriage in April of the same year.
