She’s considered one of the most beautiful women in Jpop business, if not the most beautiful of all, and after the release of her 5th album, Heart&Symphony, she’ll be back on March 15th with a new release, a Double-A side single!!! Title is Harutai Nin 春待人 / Camellia -カメリア. OH MY GOD! Shimatani’s songs are gorgeous, being a-side or b-side (c/w, coupling track), but if they decided to make an a-side, it means both songs are equal gorgeous, what would make a gorgerousx2 single! *I'm too excited* Shimatani rulesss :jerk:

Hitomi's new double A side single 春待人／Ｃａｍｅｌｌｉａ－カメリア－ sold astonishing... 7147 copies :x It landed at #19 of Oricon weekly. That's what you get for putting the songs on PV DVD and using album cut as b-side -_- Well, the DVDs did much better, of course, and that's a relief: VISUAL WORKS got #9 and Premium Live got #11, with Koda Kumi's first live in-between (released 9.21 last year... that's what I call hotcakes power).

The booklet of VISUAL WORKS is cute too. But I hated that I couldn't access that special site without the damn CD single :x I was totally pissed off, as I thought I just needed 1 item to buy :evil:

Hitomi Shimatani, who has just released her double a-side Harumachibito/Camellia (and also two new DVDs) will be back with her unique style portraying a new upbeat theme song for the anime BlackJack 21. The anime looks ok and so does Shimatani’s song, very upbeat. It’s not Garnet Moon, but she is definitely on the way of her greatest song. For all non Japaneses visits, Ikimasshoi.com has uploaded the commercial for BlackJack21 in which you can listen to the new song.

The new single is called Destiny-太陽の花 and will come with a DVD! For the very first time, a Shimatani’s cd will come with the PV in a DVD. Thanks Avex! The b-side is also a theme song to the TV Tokyo series “Wednesday Mystery” and it’s called Koimizu - tears of love, that Shimatani herself wrote. Is it yet unknown if this song will also have its own PV in the DVD. The release date is set to be at June 7th. Keep tuned to IkiNews for future news!

Some Brasilian guy on Jpopsuki upped "Destiny" from Black Jack 21 anime opening, it's only 1 minute long, but man, it sounds awesome! I'm so happy avex didn't force her to drop the crossover style :heart:

Shimatani Hitomi will participate in Iwashiro Tarou x Yabe Tatsuya Screen Music Forever concert on November 3rd. Music from such movies as Semi Shigure, Haru no Yuki, SHINOBI, Chi to Hone, Hanada Shounen, Nihon Chinbotsu will be performed. Hitomi will sing Amazing Grace & Akane Sora as a special guest. The other special guest is Sasagawa Miwa and she will sing "Mononokehime".

Crossover 1 did, why not Crossover 2? They also claimed the show was completely sold out, so it's all logical to release a dvd :D

I believe you can add items to your order as long as it is marked as "open" (not in shipping process), but I've never done that myself :o
So far Hitomi's been releasing an album every year, but I think after she changed her style so much, her sales dropped a lot, so maybe avex will try to get more money by releasing another single... so I'd put my bet on 2007 for a new full album. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd release crossover II album around X'mas though. Ok, well, I'm definitely the best strategist in J-pop industry /sarcasm XD

Well, I must admit I HAET Hitomi's old style. Srsly. I became her fan with Garnet Moon. I can hardly name many of her older songs, but I adore Perseus *^^* So, PASIO is a step back for me :/

Well, her single sales have been less than (or around) 10,000 for a while, and I guess avex people assumed if she'd go back to her oldschool Latin style they'd increase... I'm afraid they might drop her in the end ;_; I'm starting to think Shimatani is one of the most underrated pop artists in Japan.

^ Definitely :( It's always a shame when artists step out of "the box" and aren't given recognition for doing so~ This is kind of off-topic, but just look at Christina Aguilera and her new album. Granted, she has had some success with her first single, but overall, Back to Basics hasn't generated quite the same buzz as her previous two albums did.
I personally *LOVE* Shimatani-hime's more orchestral and dramatic songs~ I think that style suits her better than the "Latin-style" pop they're trying to push her back into XD

I also prefer her recent styles, both techno-ish dance and classic crossover, to her oldschool music, I couldn't even make myself listen to anything other than Perseus from pre-Garnet Moon material (Garnet Moon made me a fan, yeah, late)... I LOVE her enka debut single though.
Futari de ii janai song seems interesting at least, that Suzuki Masayuki oji-san looks so badass XD I wonder what style is it, ballad probably?

Various news and rumours~
I've read in several sources that Shimatani-hime's next single, Dragonfly, had been postponed until February (aedon also wrote that in this forum :heart:) but according to CD Japan, the single will still be released on 1/17/06. Which is right?
Also, rumour has it that her sixth full-length album is coming up in March :heart: Can anyone confirm this?

^ CDJapan can be a little slow with cancelling releases. It's been confirmed by Hitomi's official site that Dragonfly is postponed, tthat was written in "staff's room" (http://post.avexnet.or.jp/shimatani_s/). It mentions that the b-side title is Bye-Bye.
There's no information on when exactly her 6th album is released, the site I get news about upcoming releases, fan-net (http://) (it's been trustworthy so far) simply lists it as "soon" (近日), not March or any other month :o

My favorite studio album is Heart & Symphony (I actually just ordered it through Yesasia, couldn't miss the 50% discount lol). I just like it music wise, as I've already mentioned, I'm not a big fan of her oldschool material ^^;;;

Mine is actually a tie between crossover and Heart & Symphony XD LOL I picked crossover initially because I like the way all of her old songs were redone in the orchestral style (especially Perseus! :inlove:) Plus there were a couple original song on there, too^^
But Heart & Symphony just pwns :heart: There is no other word for it~ Falco, Garnet Moon, Mermaid, Taiyoushin, Sara Souju... Just the entire album :heart: The music, the lyrics, everything is *LOVE* :heart:

Hitomi Shimatani Crossover forum has the previews of both songs. I've never been THIS much of disappointed by a Hitomi single. Dragonfly never grew up on me, althought I liked it a bit at the beginning. And the c/w, byebye, seems like a song from Aya's Naked Songs. Buuuh. Where is the upbeat hitomi? the crossover hitomi? the perseus, falco, destiny hitomi? :(

I'm quite pleased with the dvd content after all, even if they've included Harumachibito & Camellia PVs that I already have, but all the other PVs are in (even Koimizu which I thought will be single exclusive, to be honest), so I can't wait for my copy XD I guess I'd be bitter if I bought her cd+dvd singles...
And yes, wakaba, I agree that it's a low blow to make fans buy both editions if they want bonus track and cd extra D: I also like the CD only cover a bit better, so bah, avex

I have to agree. Her voice is fantastic. She was one of the first artists I got into that had nothing to do with anime, everyone else I found from there theme tune performances or whathaveya. I am sure Shimatani has done some, but I don't know them!
