She wasn't there b/c she's been in a musical all this month. Therefore, it was either no concert or no play... And I'm sure the play/musical (whichever) payed more than the concert

Also, I think it's about making different experiences. I mean, she's 32, she probably won't be in H!P all her life, so she's gotta do something afterwards.
