Ending theme "a little pain" is sang by OLIVIA (http://www.avexnet.or.jp/olivia) and it's quite a piece of news as she hasn't released a single since September 2002 (her second original album was out in February 2004 and she hasn't released anything since then)! I'm totally happy that avex didn't drop her lol :w00t:
A savoury detail is that both Livi and Anna are half-Caucasian models turned rock musicians, so this should be more spicy "rivalry" than Mika vs Yuna :roll:

I would suggest you guys to hurry up to pre-order OLIVIA's first single in 4 years, as only 8 copies of first press are left... not that I'm buying it for the stickers, but still XD

I thought Anna's PV was way too ordinary poprock PV... it didn't really stand out. I was rather surprised that there were no scenes from the anime, too. And OLIVIA's PV is actually better than I expected so I don't regret pre-ordering the single XD Now that I think about, the PV will end up on some compilation anyway (her next album or pv collection with Sea me & Into The Stars... ye, I wish), so I guess I got tricked by avex again.

Anna had better songs on her previous releases, and I'm really pissed off that those cheap bastards from avex included "Ah Ah" on the "rose" single, they could've at least pick a better song from "Taste My Beat", like "FROZEN ROSE", the title is more appropriate too... blah.
And I obviously like OLIVIA's song more, not only because I was Lufkin's fan longer, but also the song is just BETTER. The PV too. Well, imho :P

After 1 mini-album, 3 singles & remix album, Tsuchiya Anna is finally releasing a full-length original album! No details are revealed except the release date so far, mark your calendars at August 2nd, 2006!
Also, Anna's first solo live tour called "BLOOD OF ROSES" will take place in CLUBs QUATTRO in 3 cities in the end of summer (Nagoya 8/26, Osaka 8/27, Tokyo 9/3).

I only downloaded Anna's single, and didn't like it all that much, and recycled track "Ah Ah" didn't help, they could've at least choose "FROZEN ROSE" :| Was tempted to leech Olivia's single as well, but I've decided to wait for my CD to arrive ^_^ Too bad the DVD doesn't have any extras, it seems. I bet I won't get the first press stickers either lol

Tsuchiya Anna's divorce
Anna has announced the divorce with her husband Joshua on July 5th on her official website's diary (http://www.anna-t.com/). It says that "Anna Tsuchiya and Joshua respect one another's intentions and will go separate ways." Their divorce report has been submitted to Tokyo's ward office. The couple was living in separate houses several months before the divorce. The reason given for the break-up, was that Anna's work schedule has heavily increased, causing the couple to continue missing out on one another. Anna and Joshua announced their marriage and pregnancy of their child back in June 2004. After giving birth to their child in November 2004, Anna's status was promoted to be an actress for her outstanding performance in "Shimotsuma Monogatari (Kamikaze Girls)." Later, Anna was also put in charge of "NANA Anime's" opening theme song, "rose." It has been decided that after divorcing, the couple will have joint custody of their son.

I am so thrilled with both releases! OLIVIA hasn't released anything in a while, and she's one of my favorite girl rockers. And I've loved Anna since she was in Spin Aqua, although her solo stuff wasn't my cup of tea. But these two releases are definitely a real treat for me!

Hey, welcome to the thread! I've been Livi's fan since "Into The Stars" and knew of Anna since Spin Aqua as well... I always preferred Livi to anyone else.

I finally got my a little pain cd+dvd today, and man, the b-sides friggin RAWK! Jeffrey Lufkin is kakkoii producer <3 The sticker was sucky as I expected (just white text "OLIVIA inspi' REIRA 【TRAPNEST】" on silver background), but it still warms my heart that I snagged the first press ^ω^
Anyone consider buying Anna's 1st solo full album strip me?? They say cd+dvd will include all of her PVs released so far and *maybe* some bonus footage :O The title is rather amusing, and makes me hope for a really cool cover :drool:

Thanks for the OLIVIA links, aedon! :heart: She is so incredibly beautiful and talented... I'm really happy to see her shining and getting the attention she deserves! I've loved her since her D&D days, and she's only gotten better as she's gone out on her own and continued to grow and develop with her sound^^

And there wasn't any official information about that mini-album in the first place, so I guess it could've been cancelled completely. My theory is that they'll make her release 1 or 2 more singles and then maybe a full album, since her inspi' REIRA singles sell really well (a little pain should have sold 40,000 copies by now, as in first 6 weeks it sold 37,605) and avex always wants as much money as they can milk outta fans, especially since Livi was never their best-selling artist, they must *catch the moment* with all the NANA hype right now.

^ Yes, I have known about Olivia since way back in 1998!^^ LOL I was able to snag D&D's one and only album from CD Japan some years ago... I don't even think they sell it anymore! I definitely prefer her solo stuff, though... Synchronicity was a great album and for me, The Lost Lolli only got better for her^^ I don't know why, I like her really dark stuff... I have all four of her mini-albums too :heart:
Anyway, I agree with your theory about what was supposed to be her new mini-album... I'm just glad that although Olivia was never a HUGE artist in terms of popularity, avex didn't drop her... She's just so incredibly talented and has an amazing voice, I can't say it enough! :heart: I do hope they will give her an album at some point, though, even if it is under the "inspi REIRA" name. So far, the songs on both singles she has done for the NANA anime are amazing, and I think her own personal style shines through a lot^^
Now, if only they could get Olivia to actually play Reira in the next NANA live-action movie... I think she fits the character so much better than Yuna Ito, personally :P LOL

I only own Livi's synchronicity album (regular press without the bonus track -"-) & a little pain cd+dvd, and I'm waiting for Wish/Starless Night cd+dvd in the mail weee~ I want to buy The Lost Lolli one day too, but she's not the only artist I like and I prefer dvds to cds, so yeah, one day (I can't afford her mini-albums because TowerRecords shipping rate for my country is like $60 O_O).
It seems that some fans are disappointed in Livi with her anime deal, like as if she "sold out" and stuff. Personally I liked all her new songs, and I think she deserves recognition that NANA gave her. And Livi herself said her music became mellower, so I guess she sort of grown out of her agressive indie period... sigh, even great musicians can't please everyone.

^ Yes, she has definitely grown out of her darker period... She's stated in various interviews that she was going through a bad time when she was composing the second of the four mini-albums and then The Lost Lolli, which is a compliation of the "best" material from her mini-albums and a couple of other tracks. If you like dark, haunting music, you will definitely love The Lost Lolli^^ I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the mini-albums because most of the songs are on The Lost Lolli. I just got them because I freakin ADORE Olivia and wanted to own every piece of her^^ LOL
I think it's sad that people would say she's "sold out" by tying in with the NANA anime, when looking at it, it was probably the best move for her career, since it seems she wants to continue releasing music in the Japanese industry (all of the songs on The Lost Lolli and the four mini-albums are completely in English^^) As a loyal fan, I will continue to support her no matter what, but there isn't any denying that the work she has done for the anime is standout on its own :heart:
Btw, I really like Wish, just because it has an edgier, more rock style to it, and I miss that about Olivia^^ LOL But a little pain is probably one of the BEST songs I have ever heard, both in J-pop and elsewhere... It's brilliant, in my book :heart:

It seems to me that with Olivia, the Japanese public doesn't care too much for her more "rock" stuff XD LOL For instance, her first two idol singles, I.L.Y. ~yokoubou and reACT (both done with Tetsuya Komuro), sold really well in comparison with the other singles she released under her own direction, ne? And when she was getting ready to release a little pain, I remember reading that she thought the single suited a Japanese audience much better (apparently she had written the lyrics first in English, which came out a bit "dark" and then she changed it when she re-wrote them in Japanese.) I don't know, though...

^ Olivia still needs help translating her lyrics to Japanese :o Her Japanese improved greatly in these years of obscurity though... but I guess the public doesn't like halfie's that don't speak Japanese all that well (unlike let's say, Kimura Kaela and Tsuchiya Anna). I'm not really sure why her rock stuff isn't that popular, Wish/Starless Night is watered down compared to her indie releases, so basically people just prefer pop songs in general? So I guess I'll have to agree with you, wakaba :D

Just got back from PMX (literally^_^)

The little bit of news that Olivia gave out is that she is still working on her upcoming mini album and that now it will be released in early 2007.
Overall the show was great. Both of the opening bands were very good. I had never heard of either Dig Jelly or UchiSentai NOIZ, but I am now a new fan of both bands.
Olivia didn't take the stage until about 10pm because both opening bands played pretty long sets. She has an amazing live voice. So perfect that one would almost think she is lip synching but she isn't, which was proven when her mike went out for a little bit in Alone in Our Castle. I really don't think her tv show performances that I have seen do her voice justice - I always thought her voice sounded just a little bit thin and weak on tv lives, but hearing her in person it doesn't sound that way. :shrug
I do think that she lacks a bit in stage presence and didn't have much audience interaction but I pretty much knew that going in from the performances I had watched on video, so I wasn't suprised. You can tell that even when she is talking she just seems very timid and shy. What makes it worthwhile though is her voice and the music. She also seemed to loosen up and get into it more as the set went on.
The only real disappointments were the following:
1. She only played for an hour (one of the opening bands played longer than that) and for tickets that cost as much as $70, that is really short - makes me wonder if that is the reason why they added two other bands at the last minute.
2. She didn't play any songs from the Synchonicity album, which is where most of her hits are.
I suppose Avex was probably thinking that this audience would only know the Nana songs and that it would be best to have the rest of the set filled with songs from her second album?(which is mostly in English) But durring the encore, you could tell people were dissapointed not to hear Dekinai, My Dear Angel, Dress Me Up, ReAct etc. Someone even shouted for Into the Stars to be played. I DID like the songs that were played, I just would have liked to hear some of the old favorites too. :)

^ Too freakin cool!!^^ I wish I could have been there! It's great to hear that her mini-album hasn't been totally scrapped and will still be released, though :kgreat: I'm really happy avex is still giving her a chance, outside of her NANA stuff :heart:
Also, I've read before that Olivia has said herself that she is really shy... So maybe the response she received from the fans at PMX just overwhelmed her and that's why she seemed to "lack stage presence"? It would be interesting to see how she acts in a smaller venue versus a bigger one like PMX. Just speculating^^ LOL

Wow, that's great news for Anna! :heart: I was starting to wonder if she had somehow fallen in the cracks with all the music Olivia's been putting out for the anime... It'll be interesting to see how her numbers (sales and such) will stack up against Olivia's since they will be releasing on the same day!
As for the OP/ED switch... I'm sure they'll make the switch once the BLACKSTONES single is aired in the show^^ After all, it's only fair, since the anime is called NANA and Anna is the singing voice for one of the lead characters! :heart: LOL

rose sold 28,603 copies on 1st week [#6] and a little pain only 20,162 [#8]. Overall, I'm not sure if Anna has beat Livi, because in 3 weeks Anna sold 44,305 copies while Olivia just 31,392 but rose stayed on the chart for 9 weeks while a little pain for whole 14 :o

According to its official site, NANA anime (http://www.ntv.co.jp/nana/music.html) has a new ending song since 11/8 episode, it's the new Tsuchiya Anna song entitled 黒い涙 [Kuroi Namida = Black Tear(s)]. However, they state that 'the release date is pending and the details will be announced' (gotta love the auto-translators, rofl), so maybe they'll set a different date, who knows... but I guess the Nana vs. Reira chart war helps the sales, so probably it's January 17th after all :/ It's on j00tube already -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UqeDD5p6R0

Tsuchiya Anna's single release date has been confirmed, it's indeed 2007/01/17 :/ CDJapan claims it to include the new Nana ending theme (Kuroi Namida, I suppose) and 1 b-side. BUT! There's one more release from Anna on the same day, and it's a LIVE DVD! Yay! The price is rather reasonable too (3,800 yen). ^ LOL You're right, I think it's definitely easier to list songs you don't like... But I can't really think of any Olivia song I really don't like except Liquid Skies (I just thought it was really off-the-wall, and *NOT* in a good way XD LOL)
I really love Bliss Forest and Close Your Eyes, too! :heart: I've always been a fan of her darker-sounding, more lyrical work... Is it just me, though, or does Close Your Eyes kind of sound like a continuation to tears & rainbows? Something about the way the music in each song seems to mirror one another... *shrugs* ^^

^ Hmm, I'm not sure about tear & rainbows and Close your eyes, they just seemed more in the same laid-back style to me than connected somehow, but then again I haven't read the lyrics properly... I guess I like nearly all Livi's songs, it just depends on my mood, if I want to listen to something upbeat and rawky or mellow and sad :)

^ I'm pretty sure it was mostly her own decision to go indie, it was the non-mainstream music she wanted to make at that time. Besides, poppy "Into The Stars" single was such a flop she didn't have much choice... Still, I hate the fact most people now call her "that Olivia from Nana" :x

XD I'm actually really surprised that Into The Stars was such a flop when a little pain is almost in the same vein as that song~ It's relatively "soft" rock/pop, but a little pain made her famous in the Japanese scene again XD Oh, well~ As long as she continues to make music, that's all I care about :heart:

^ Apparently (still no word from official sites), both inspi' albums are limited to 50,000 copies and include songs featured in the anime ~10 tracks in total, with alternative versions. The DVDs include NANA special street live footage and an animated music video. First press bonus is an original BLACK STONES/TRAPNEST poster.
Also, seems like there's new Nana anime related album in the plans, an Anna + Olivia best album this time :/ The rumored release date is 2007.03.21

^ I didn't like the manga after I've read a few volumes, and I've watched 6 episodes of the anime until live-evil stopped subbing it... I did it all for LIVI! LOL Soap opera is just not my genre XD I'd watch "Jigoku Shoujo" but "Dream Catcher" was only used in the drama, not the anime :/
Oh, btw, "Recorded Butterfly" will probably end up being that "inspi' REIRA" album exclusive :o

The fact that this is a limited release just made me buy both XD LOL I'm not too crazy about Anna's version of Nana (I actually kind of prefer Mika Nakashima's XD), but I figure it's a good buy since I didn't get any of the singles. I'm curious about the "alternative versions" of the songs too :heart:
It really bugs that these albums are supposed to be released in a matter of weeks and still no titles or even tracklists XD

Gah, been a while since I've posted in this thread. Basically I was waiting for my copy of OLIVIA's album and I didn't want to read any spoilers :/ C'mon, people, post!
First of all, I must admit I'm quite disappointed in the new material on inspi' REIRA album, rock-ish tracks are rather repetitive and slower songs are well.. slower lol The TRAPNEST poster was sucky too, btw :P Overall, I guess I'd like it better if I haven't already bought the singles as they're the stronger songs of the album indeed, but Recorded Butterflies and live tracks were great.

I actually thought the inspi' albums were exactly what I expected them to be... I ended up liking Anna's better than Livi's though, which was really a surprise to me :o 'Recorded Butterflies' was gorgeous though, and yes, the lives were probably the best parts of both albums :heart:

Sometimes I wish OLIVIA would go back to indies too, but it'd be really hard to get her releases that way. A little off-topic, but look at Amano Tsukiko, her contract with Pony Canyon has ended and you can't buy her Otokura releases ANYWHERE (not even Amazon or Tower Records!) but their site, wtf?! I know it's available at some legal downloads site (OnGen, I think), but I don't know how to purchase music there, dammit. So no, I don't think I'd really want Livi to go back to indies *^^*
Plus in that interview in English she said it'd be impossible for her to write music like that again, and I wouldn't want her to be that much unhappy again either :( Somehow artists tend to lose something when everything's going fine in their lives, look at Ayu for example, her teenage songs' lyrics are masterpieces in a way, and now she's just a pop diva :lol:
Overall, I'm kinda unhappy that they had to split Livi's works at singles, mini-album and album because of all that NANA frenzy, but that's better than hiatus anyway ^^;

I think she fits the part of Reira really well too! :heart: Definitely more than Yuna Ito, but I'm biased :P LOL I would recommend all of her albums, actually... But definitely grab Synchronicity and The Lost Lolli, which are her 2 full-length albums :heart: I would also recommend her newest, the mini-album The Cloudy Dreamer, especially if you like her Reira stuff ^^

I think she mentioned a full-length album as herself in one of PMX interviews... the problem is avex, they don't want her to release music that doesn't sell anymore, I suppose, and I'm not sure how much The Cloudy Dreamer sold overall. It was a great album, and inspi REIRA songs only stuck out lol

Better late than never! I'm also glad you bothered to check out Livi's non-Reira stuff, because it's superior :3 To be honest I prefer her heavier/upbeat stuff myself, but her slower stuff is great too (just need the right mood heh) Maybe you could share the music you make here?

OLIVIA also did an interview for a French radio station and revealed that she's working on next single and album. Livi said she has a few songs to be finished, including couple rock tracks, but she's experimenting with her brother and might go for a poppier sound after whole NANA experience to reach wider audience.

Anna Tsuchiya pregnant, headed for remarriage

Singer and model Anna Tsuchiya (25) announced on her blog on Saturday that she is currently pregnant. She and the father, a stylist named Yamato who is three years older, are expected to register their marriage soon. Yamato has been Tsuchiya's stylist for many years now. Their relationship apparently started about two years ago. Tsuchiya is said to be three months pregnant, with the baby due next spring. Tsuchiya was previously married to model Joshua between 2004 and 2006, and they had one son together. Joshua suddenly passed away last year at the age of 25.

This new song is titled VOYAGERS and is used as the main theme for the movie KAMEN Raide FOURZE.
The theme is beautiful, though he seems to are two versions: the "Anna" and "FOURZE".
