WWE News: Kenny Dykstra issues statement following release; says he's happy to be gone

Kenny Dykstra (Ken Doane) was released from WWE earlier this week. Now he says he finally feels free after spending six years with WWE.

"Believe it or not I actually am happy to be gone from WWE," Dykstra said on his myspace page. "I don't have to do things around their schedule and I don't have to answer to anybody."

Doane says being with WWE since he was 16 years old created a situation where the only thing he knew in life was WWE. "I did have fun with WWE but the creative side never used me properly or really gave me an opportunity to get over," he said.

He isn't sure whether he will stick to wrestling, although he'll use the 90-day no-compete clause in his contract release to consider his options.

"WWE kinda puts a bad taste in your mouth after all the politics and garbage that can go on," Doane said. "I may try to go to TNA but we will see."

Interview with WWE's Ken Kennedy

It has been an interesting four years for Mr. Kennedy so far with the WWE, filled with plenty of highs and lows. Just last year, he won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23 and seemed poised to become the WWE Champion, only to have that opportunity slip away after he injured his triceps muscle.

He has bounced back and forth between being a heel and a babyface and wrestling near the bottom of the card to feuding with top guys such as The Undertaker and Shawn MIchaels. Unfortunately for him, he has also been hit with three major injuries during his relatively short time with the WWE and is currently sidelined with a dislocated shoulder.

In a story that might be hard to believe, PWInsider's Mike Johnson is reporting that during WWE's tour of Iraq last week retired WWE announcer and current WWE.com personality Joey Styles punched out former WWE Champion JBL during an altercation between the two. The punch busted JBL open under the eye according to reports.

A few more details have been released regarding the "Iraq Punchout" (as it has been termed) between Joey Styles and JBL last week in Iraq. Many have described the situation as typical JBL bullying of a guy he saw as a nerdy type and doing his best to make fun of him. It was JBL, who has a reputation for being a tough guy and street fighter, that many younger wrestlers feel they have to endure as they fear retaliating will cost them their job.
