Zhou was a famous singer and film star in the 1930s and 1940s, who led a complicated and unhappy life marked by her failed marriages, illegitimate children, and suicide attempts. Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung will star with Tony Leung in Derek Yee's new film which will begin shooting next February, Cheung said recently in Shanghai.
When Derek Yee replied to questions from the Hong Kong press, he confirmed that this film will be Cheung's first since giving birth to her two sons in three years.
The film, entitled "Da Moshu Shi" ("Great Magician"), is a story about two childhood sweethearts set during the early part of the twentieth century. Yee had intended to keep the film a secret until it was discovered by the Guangzhou Daily. Information about the film was found on the Web site of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT).
"Great Magician" is in line with "The Illusionist", a period drama based loosely on the Steven Millhauser story "Eisenheim the Illusionist", which was later adapted to the American big screen by Neil Burger. Actor Edward Norton starred in the film with Jessica Biel and Paul Giamatti. The film tells the story of Eisenheim, a magician in early 20th century Vienna.
Derek Yee's version occurs during the same period in China. Tony Leung is set to play the role of the intelligent illusionist, while Cheung will play a concubine to a warlord.
Yee said he had been waiting for two years for Cheung to work for the film when her second pregnancy postponed the project. If the idea of contraception will be added into Cheung's contract this time, "It's useless if she gets pregnant," Yee said jokingly.
The director collaborated with Cheung in "Lost in Time", which helped her win the best actress award at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2004. And the last time Cheung and Leung worked together was in the action comedy "Tokyo Raiders" eleven years ago. "Leung is cool and gentle. I feel very lucky to have the chance to work with him again," said Cheung.
Due to the upcoming shooting schedule, Cheung said she must quickly lose weight. "The process is very painful. I have to swim, run and control my diet." She eats seldom and does not eat rice or noodles, nor does she use cooking oil in her food. It is believed that she is concerned about the influence this may have on her children because of the changes in her mood brought on by rapid weight loss.

Hong Kong star Cecilia Cheung was injured when she fell off a horse during shooting of the movie "The Lady Generals of the Yang Family" ("Yang Men Nv Jiang Zhi Jun Ling Ru Shan"), Hong Kong media reported.
Cheung's agent, Emily, said during an interview, "She tried twice to ride the horse before shooting. Everything was okay. But she was thrown off the horse during shooting."
Luckily for her, Cheung suffered only a minor injury during the accident. She even published several photos online after knowing many fans were worried about her.

Mu Guiying, a frequent subject of Chinese opera, is usually portrayed as full of courage and wit.

Yesterday Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi officially began work on her new film THE LION ROARS 2. As soon as she got out of bed she was nauseated and looked much thinner. Yesterday Pak Chi began work on her new film THE LION ROARS 2 (HOR TUNG SI HAU 2) for the first time. She appeared to be in good spirit and when she was not on the set she played with her phone. Originally frail Pak Chi looked even thinner and was nauseated early at work.
Yesterday, Cheung Pak Chi arrived at the Xiangshan film and television city's Spring and Autumn Warring State city to start work. She was already in make up when she arrived. The team in order to coordinate with Pak Chi had guards at the film city gates, stairways and corners to fully prevent the media from disturbing Pak Chi. Even so, reporters still did their best for a peek of Pak Chi at work. With make up bruises on her left cheek and left corner of her mouth, Pak Chi looked occupied with herself. Often she would flash a smile and attentively studied the script with director Joe Ma Wai Ho.
Despite her appearance, Pak Chi has been nauseated since work began and looked frailer than before. A worker revealed, "Pak Chi is still sick. She vomited at the hotel. Actually since she came back from Milan she has been sick." The worker also said that Pak Chi in order to keep from hindering the progress worked until late at night as scheduled. Cecilia Cheung Blasts Wong Jing With Sarcasm, Criticizes Script As Being No Good
The movie that starred the mother and son team which consisted of Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) and her real life son, Lucas Tse (謝振軒), held it’s premiere in Hong Kong yesterday.

Lucas who had just started school, was unable to attend the premiere. On the other hand, his mother, Cecilia Cheung, was earlier blasted by the Mainland investors of that film for not attending enough promotions. This incurred Cecilia’s manager to retaliate and clarify matters on Weibo.
Yesterday night, Cecilia appeared at the movie premiere of that said film in Hong Kong. It was not known whether she was unwilling to be aggrieved but during the premiere, Cecilia blasted the script and the scriptwriter as being no-good.
This left Wong Jing (王晶), who was both the scriptwriter and the director of the film, with no choice but to act according to circumstances and to play it by ear, transforming Cecilia’s remarks into a joke, in hopes of driving away the unwanted guest.
Attending the premiere of her movie, Treasure Hunt《無價之寶》, Cecilia was donned in a Jean Paul Gaultier floral jumpsuit and had a new explosive zig zag hairstyle.
This also marked Cecilia Cheung’s first public appearance in Hong Kong after agreeing to a divorce with Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒).
Upon her appearance, Cecilia made known that she wouldn’t be accepting any interviews from the press and only had a verbal exchange with the emcee. After staying to have the toasting ceremony and cutting of mooncake, Cecilia immediately fled the scene, rendering the remaining cast and crew speechless. In fact, Cecilia only stayed at the movie premiere of “Treasure Hunt” for a mere ten minutes!
Wong Jing Take It As It Comes
Earlier on, the Mainland investing company that invested in “Treasure Hunt” blasted Cecilia for accepting a filming remuneration of ten million when she had refused to abide by her side of the contract, which required her to attend promotional events for the film.
Upon learning about this, Cecilia’s manager went on Weibo to clarify matters and defend Cecilia, stirring up a war of words with the investing company.
Last night, when Cecilia was on stage, her every sentence was dripping with sarcasm, even going as far as to rebuke the script for being lousy. When the emcee asked her about any amusing stuff that happened during her time filming with Lucas, Cecilia responded, “Lucas was just being himself. I am usually the one who would help him to bathe every night. Hence, during filming, we were just performing our normal day-to-day activities like sleeping and bathing. Lucas didn’t even know that we were acting in a movie.”
As for whether Lucas had displayed any acting talent, Cecilia replied, “Lucas has my DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid), he also loves to change dialogues and deliver some lines “off-the-cuff”. Maybe he felt that the scriptwriter was not good, he didn’t even followed one dialogue from it, he just self-invented the dialogues and presented it in a way which surfaced the naiveness of a child.”
Cecilia continued, “Lucas’ scenes took about a day to film in Hong Kong but he still felt very happy and comfortable.” (Emcee: Did Lucas suffer from any acting relapse and requested to shoot another movie again?) “Nope! Maybe there isn’t any good script around lahs!” It could be seen that after trampling on the screenwriter, Cecilia continued to crush the script!
Despite Cecilia’s harsh bashing, Wong Jing, who was the producer, scriptwriter and director of “Treasure Hunt”, did not flinch and continued to be all smiles. Wong Jing responded, “Wait till Lucas is 18 years old and I will give him a movie about courting girls to film lahs!”
After saying her piece, Cecilia didn’t went in with everyone to enjoy the movie but instead, she slipped through the back door of the cinema and left. However, before leaving, Cecilia still stopped to accept flowers from her fans as a form of polite gesture.
About rumors of Cecilia’s refusal to promote the film, Wong Jing professed, “This isn’t Cecilia’s only promotion. The previous time we promoted at Guangxi and the praying ceremony is also considered as another promotion too. But of course, as the producer, I feel that the more promotions done, the better lahs!” (Reporter: Cecilia refused to accept an interview this time?) “Take photographs of her lors! Because she also has nothing to revert to the things you guys ask her!”
(Did you feel that Cecilia has fulfilled enough of the promotions obligations?) “I had already shot over a hundred dramas, I will not force my friends to do something that they are willing to do.” (In the future when Cecilia takes up movie offers, will her arrangements be like this too?) “I have not seen her for a long time, you guys should ask her management company instead.” (Will you be collaborating with her again?) “See how the tendency goes lors, will find her again if it’s appropriate and suitable.”
Not planning to collaborate again for the time being
Asked whether it was because Cecilia’s asking price has increased significantly, Wong Jing laughed heartily and said, “Her asking price has never been cheap, even before she had gotten married, it was also not cheap.”
The reporter then asked Wong Jing whether he would take this opportunity to talk to Cecilia about her mood after divorce. Wong Jing responded that this was also the first time he had seen Cecilia ever since she had divorced with Nicholas Tse but he expressed that he rarely talks about personal matters thus he did not ask Cecilia about her private affairs. Wong Jing also continued, “Cecilia is already an adult lahs, I am also considered half an uncle to Cecilia hence I do not need to deliberately bring it up.”
Actually, Cecilia was in high spirits throughout the premiere. Upon reaching the premiere, she had even privately chatted with former rumored squeeze, Ronald Cheng (鄭中基). The duo even erupted into bouts of laughter in between their conversation. It turned out that Ceilia had joked that Ronald looked like “King of Cat” Elvin Presley.
Cecilia later proceeded to cut a giant mooncake with Jacquelin Chong (莊思敏), Phillip Ng (伍允龍) and the rest of the cast and crew. In the midst of cutting it, a piece of the mooncake bounced and shivered, which drew attention from Cecilia and Ronald, who exchanged glances amongst themselves and laughed.

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, who plays the lead role in the upcoming war movie "Legendary Amazons", was in Beijing on Tuesday to attend the film's premiere show.
Cheung joined megastar Jackie Chan, who was the movie's executive producer.
Based on the legendary Chinese story of the widows and daughters of the Yang family who lived during the Song Dynasty, the tale revolves around how they fought off invaders after their male kin laid down their lives on the battlefields.
The film is directed by Frankie Chan. Other stars in the cast include Cheng Pei-pei, Liu Xiaoqing, Kathy Chow and Richie Ren.
Domestic release is slated for November 18.

Zhang Ziyi, Cecilia Cheung Collaborate in "Dangerous Liaisons" 2011-09-27 16:29CRI
A Chinese remake of Hollywood movie "Dangerous Liaisons" (Wei Xian Guan Xi) has began filming. The cast of the film includes Zhang Ziyi and Cecilia Cheung, who star as the film's female leads. This will be the first movie in which the two actresses star alongside one another.
A press release was held in Beijing on Monday and was attended by the major cast members. According to a report by China news.com, Zhang Ziyi said she fell in love with her role after reading the script, and even recommended that Cecilia Cheung star in the role opposite her. In the movie, the two women will wage war in an effort to win the heart of a man, portrayed by South Korean actor Jang Donggun.
The movie is loosely based on the French novel, Les Liaisons dangereuses, but the story is set in 1930s' Shanghai. South Korean director Jin-ho Hur takes the helm during the production stages with Chinese writer Yan Geling penning the script.

A promotional event for the upcoming release of romance drama "Shadows of Love" (Ying Zi Ai Ren) was held in Beijing on Wednesday, March 14; the day known as "White Valentine's Day", mtime.com reports.
Director Yuen-Leung Poon and lead actors Cecilia Cheung, Jing Tian, Angela Chang and Boran Jing attended the event. The film, produced by renowned director Stanley Kwan, tells the story of three separate romances which take place against different backdrops.
Director Poon explained that the movie is about seeking true love. Cecilia Cheung and South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo act one of the movie's romance stories, portraying a love triangle between a wealthy young man and twin sisters. Cecilia Cheung noted that it was incredibly hard for her to portray two different characters at the same time.
The movie is scheduled for release shortly though no specific date has been decided upon yet.

Cheung plays a socialite living in Shanghai in the 1930s. The film also features actress Zhang Ziyi as well as South Korean heartthrob Jang Dong-gun.
Hur Jin-ho, also from South Korea, is the director.
The film will open in Chinese cinemas on September 27.
