モーニング娘。'14 ゴールデンオーディション開催 !!
Just announced in the Evolution tour, which just started today. Tsunku's version of What is Love started playing, and a letter from him appeared since he's obviously not going to show up in person, bless him and his trollish soul.
New audition is titled "Golden Audition", applications open for girls aged 10~17 (the usual range XD).
Will update with more details when it shows up.

To summarize the news page, what they're looking for this time:
- Someone who likes singing and believes in the future
- Someone who might not be super confident in themselves but wants to test their own limits anyway
Usual age range 10-17 girls who aren't attached (I find it interesting they added this clause, they never had to mention it before :lol: )
Application period: March 15th - May 11th
Tsunku's letter highlights:
- The girls who pass the auditions will be revealed in the fall events, and will undergo intense lessons before formally debuting in 2015
- In the event that no one passes, they get offered a chance to join the Kenshuusei for free (no need to pay lesson fees!) and will be seriously considered for future auditions or new groups emerging from the Kenshuusei.
- Direct quote: "As the current members have a very high skill level, so the baseline for joining has now been raised even higher, but I believe that there is still talent with the potential to shock me out there, undiscovered."
- Another quote: "Trust in our judgement, and challenge yourselves at this audition!"
My thoughts: I have a feeling that someone from the current KSS has been eyeballed for current MM. Interesting how they're basically absorbing more people into the KSS and saving the talent for themselves at a later point instead of letting AKB scoop up all their leftover finalists Anyway, I'm excited for this! :D Can't wait to see what happens!

Amazeballs. I actually have high expectations for the finalists who tried for 12th generation before :3 Kind of the opposite of Lucky 7 (which is also when nobody was chosen). I really wonder what the management was smoking back then because it wasn't good. The past few years, such excellent choices and I have high hopes for this Golden Audition, too :D

Actually I do have to admit that I still wish the age range was pushed a few years higher, because seeing the lower end that low still makes me a bit uncomfortable. Then again, it's also a moot complaint when looking at how great all the recent audition winners have turned out, so once again I'll just wait and see.
The question now is: will I actually be able to keep up with final round footage before the results are announced this time? :lol:

I remember with 9ki and such I whinged about low audition age requirement because that was when MM was performing really mature songs. Of course I was too dumb to realize that maybe with a younger bunch of new members they could simply change their image instead of having lil kids doing Kimagure Princess or singing lyrics like Shouganai Yume Oibito. I'd still like the lowest age possible to be 12 at least, but it's not like a 10-year-old ever passed the audition anyway (so far), so whatever I'll just live with it :lol:

Recently I've begun to think that the last few Momusu auditions are actually like stealth Kenshuusei auditions.
And about the low end of the age range in the auditions, like Shi said, they've never actually picked anyone that young to make it into the group.
Though when it comes to new Kenshuusei members, the younger the better, right?
I know I'd be pretty happy if a bunch of the current Kenshuusei members were in the finals. (namely Murota Mizuki and pretty much all the previous 12th gen finalists)

I haven't kept up with Momusu in a bit, but I'm trying to get back in.
It's really cool they are trying to expand their roots, but like Rina said, JunJun and LinLin kind of got the shaft. Granted, they were only there for like "training" or something (iirc), but still.
I know we already have 10 members, but I'm hoping they add like three more. Momusu was my fave when they were a giant group~

Morning musume Audition the latest also endgame. So...no audition footage??? Are they just gonna make an announcement and not show any finalist training camp, or save it for after like with the 11th gen audition?
Not too long ago there was a list of rumored finalists which included some Trainees (including Rikako) and some half-Japanese girls (including Rikako :P ), and I was really looking forward to seeing some actual confirmation on how accurate it was, but I guess we're gonna have to wait a while.
I gotta say, it would be pretty cool to see a halfie in Momusu, but I'm also worried about how well it would be received.

Ahhh yeah, I was totally looking forward to following an audition again (I haven't since like... Aika, oops)! BUT I'm still kind of excited for new members, I also CANNOT WAIT!!!!

They could at least allow us a glimpse of the candidates as they did on past auditions. It would give us something to hang onto until the big day and make the girls more endearing.
I would personally miss having a chance to judge the finalists before we know who made the cut...
EDIT: It's weird but, the older I get the longer two weeks seem to me :panic:

I wonder if they'll bring them to the NY concert. Akane was learning English and Miki (I refuse to call her Mikitty, there is only one true Mikitty) is fluent so they might be helpful during the handshake event. Plus it's almost Miki's birthday, I want to give her something :D

Morning Musume '14 introduces 4 new members!
September 30, 2014
On September 30, 10-member idol group Morning Musume '14 kicked off their fall tour 'Concert Tour Aki GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Sotsugyo Kinen Special~' at Nippon Budokan where 4 new members were introduced for the first time.
The 4 members who have been chosen among 8,000 applicants are Ogata Haruna (15) from Osaka, Nonaka Miki (14) from Shizuoka, Makino Maria (13) from Aichi, and Haga Akane (12) from Nagano. They are the first new members in 2 years since Oda Sakura, the 11th generation member, joined the group.
When the leader Michishige Sayumi introduced them on the stage, the 10,000 audience members welcomed them with loud cheers.
Both Makino and Haga were selected from Hello! Pro Kenshuusei. Makino was one of the finalists of the 11th generation member audition, but she could not make it. So, she acquired lessons as a part of Kenshuusei for the past 2 years. Haga, who has great calligraphy skills, is also acknowledged among fans as a Kenshuusei.
Ogata is good at figure skating as she has been taking lessons since she was 5, and Nonaka can speak English fluently as she used to live in Alabama and Illinois because of her father's business. When she introduced herself in English, Michishige was amazed and said, "You are great, but all I understood was 'Morning Musume' and 'Thank you'!"
It was also the first time the current members met the new members. Sayashi Riho said, "They seem to have plenty of guts even though this is their first stage. I wonder who would come out as the center...I'm not feeling nervous, but I need to do my best not to lose to them." Michishige also commented, "All 4 of them are really pretty, and they are my type of girls. It's too bad I am graduating, but I am looking forward to seeing how Morning Musume would grow from now on."
There was also a segment in which Michishige read a letter from Tsunku♂, the producer who could not visit the concert, to the new members.
These 12th generation members will continue joining the tour to greet the audience and will also hold handshake events. They, then, will begin their activities as the members of Morning Musume '15, starting the new year.
The leader Michishige will be graduating from the group after the final stage of this tour at Yokohama Arena on November 26.

My second thought: Are they seriously gonna try to reuse the "Mikitty" nickname for someone else in H!P??? Good luck with that! :lol:
But damn, drafting someone with clear English skills, you gotta wonder how much stock management is putting into international appeal now. So maybe there actually is room for a new Mikitty? Her name also reminds me of a Digimon Tamers character (http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Rika_Nonaka).
Oh yeah, and the other two...they look cute. :P
I think it's interesting how none of these girls were on the list of rumored finalists; either someone's predictions/wishful thinking was way off, or sources intentionally fed (or were fed) misleading info to mess with all of us. It still would've been nice to see a biracial girl make it in, and I was kind of hoping for a taller girl for more visual balance lulz, but, as I've said before, previous audition results have taught me to put trust in Tsunku and his people that they made the right picks for the long run.
Also: I'm 99% sure we won't be seeing any of them in New York. It's way too soon, and they're not supposed to be officially part of the group until Sayu leaves and the new year comes around.

As I said before, they should at least bring Miki for the handshake event. Maybe not even officially as part of the group, just as a translator.
And Kudo still has Haga beat. Kudo joined when she was still 11 and Haga turned 12 last March.
In other news, does Ogata remind anyone else of Maeda Yuuka?

The new girls look nice and I hope they can sing too. But looking at the current kenshuusei.. i'm pretty upset that Ruru didn't make the cut and joined MM this time.
Also I think it's a good thing for the girls to have a few months of training before they join the group, but on the same time, I want to get to know them immediatly. I don't want to wait! =D
Maria looked so cute when she tripped on stage. Aww, bambi. I have yet to decide wich will be my favorite... but maybe it'll be bambi.
Now I really want to see some audition fotage, and hear the girls sing.

Finally some audition footage (though not nearly enough)! It's footage from the training camp and focuses on the Haruna and Miki. I'm pretty sure they said they'll be more next week.

I have high hopes for Miki. She has a pretty good voice that I think could be great with some training. But I really hope they put effort into her training and get her singing out and powerful instead of going for the easy out and having her sing in a high cutesy voice. She's also pretty good at dancing apparently having been on a dance team in America (if I understood that right) and is able to pick up dances quickly.
Haruna seems to be the underdog that must be in every audition lol. I hope they show her final audition dance and song footage so we can see how much she improved.

WHATEVER! Just means they have something other special about them. Haachan looks great without make-up btw. Great skin, interesting facial features, etc.
Gotta say Haachan has a pretty good poker face tho. How many other girls would have been sobbing after forgetting dance moves and such. She seems like a rather strange, unaffected girl. Interesting.
I don't even feel like I need to praise Miki cuz so many people are going to do that now. :lol: But lookswise she's not as impressive as Riho so I doubt Riho's spot will be challenged by her, just like Odachan hasn't been able to challenge it, only support it. Will be great to have another good voice in MM tho, what is that cuteness!

At least she should work on her posture. Her voice is weak enough but those droopy shoulders won't help at all.
Miki has a powerful voice but I hope they put her in the mid to low range. The high notes are going to ruin her throat. Oh, and she should work on that expression: her Toki wo Koe rendition was too energetic.
Her dancing style is a bit awkward but I love how her face gets all red from the exertion, it's cute. She has lots of energy! :D

ok this is getting hard to take. When are they going to get member colors? is there a thread for this?
What colors do you think they should have?
After reading 2ch speculations and thinking about the balance of the group (NO MORE GREEN PLS) here is what I think would be best:
Makino: Pink (she has earned it)
Akane: Cinnabar/Vermillion color. (The Chinese character is in her name) It could work, tone up Haruka and tone down Riho to a slightly deeper red.
Nonaka: Purple (I think she will be pushed to the front because of her singing/dancing, so a color that contrasts well with Riho's red, Sakura's lavender, Daishi's blue, etc. is a good idea)
Haruna Light blue (Ice queen!, plus it's in her name)

And I agree Maria deserves pink. lol But to be fair I'd only be like WTFFFF if it went to Haruna :lol: Akane and Nonaka can carry it, too, I think... We'll see we'll see

The 12th gen girls were so much fun to see in person in Houston!
Poor Akane was jet-lagged and was nodding off during opening ceremonies, but the other three were excited to be there! During autographs we all had a clear view of them while the autograph line covered the older girls, so lots of appeal time and chances for them to wave at us!
Seriously, Miki's got the performance chops and her English fluency made her the easiest to talk to. Maria's an adorable ball of energy, and so is Haruna! Akane might secretly be the next Sayu perhaps?
I don't understand those who are so down on these girls when there's a lot to like about them! They still got a bright future ahead of them.

I agree. They haven't had much of a chance to shine, which is unfortunate, but there's so much potential there. This is definitely my fave full generation since 5th gen.

I don't think it's a matter of lacking chances; Miki's been getting some good opportunities with English narration, sharing the spotlight with Maachan and Ayumi in a memorable Emotion in Motion performance, and even hosting an episode of J-Melo, while Maria has a photobook and a new modeling gig. Plus they were all fun to watch in DVD Magazine 85 with the "east vs west" games.
But I still come across folks elsewhere who insist that they bring nothing to the table and are falling way short of expectations, which just makes me wonder what the hell those people are looking for with these girls. :?

I mean if they were expecting a new ace, then yeah there is no ace like Rihotan there. It doesn't mean these girls aren't solid members though. Maybe they are new fans or have a short memory of how other gens started out, including legends like 6th gen. And maybe the worst critics haven't seen these girls perform live, in person lol. Only Haga is less impressive on stage, but she's young and her charm is of the quiet kind anyway. It's a bit strange that someone like Maria isn't pushed more because her looks are strong, but maybe the agency is waiting to find their new ace to go all-out with.
