Kamen Rider Girls (仮面ライダーGIRLS) is an idol group developed by Avex Trax and Ishimori Productions to commemorate the Kamen Rider Series' 40th anniversary in 2011. Each of the group's current members represent one of the protagonists of the Kamen Rider Series. The group made their premiere at an event featuring members of Columbia Music Entertainment's Project.R group, the musical collaboration who provides music for the Super Sentai series. The group's debut songs were "Koi no Rider Kick" (恋のライダーキック, "Love's Rider Kick") and "Heart no Henshin Belt" (♡（ハート）の変身ベルト, "The Heart's Transformation Belt"). The group's debut songs were played on the DJ HURRY KENN Ride the Groove Internet radio program, the successor to the Wind Wave radio programs from the Kamen Rider W series. The group's debut single is "Let's Go RiderKick 2011", serving as the theme song for OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders with "Koi no Rider Kick" and "Heart no Henshin Belt" as the single's B-sides. A second single by the group will be released on August 3, 2011.

I am amazed at all the criticism they've got(mainly by other toku/KR fans).

I think they're awesome! I like Nao Yasuda the best.

^Thanks for the profiles. I got into their music because of idol BEATS Radio, so I don't know a whole bunch about the individual members, haha.

I love almost all of alteration, and I just pre-ordered the new album, so I guess I'm on my way to becoming a fan.

I forgot to post this before, but they uploaded a short PV for their next single, Break the Shell, on the avex channel:

Break the Shell will be used as the theme for the PS3 and Wii U title, Kamen Rider Battride War II. There isn't a release date yet, but there will be a short PV of Break the Shell on the Type A version of their second album exploded which comes out on the 19th. Kamen Rider Battride War II is set to release on June 26th so I'd expect the single sometime around then.

2014/03/22 Mini-live + handshake report:

So shortly after I landed in Japan and checked in to my hotel, I rushed over to Tokyo Dome City Attractions LaQua Garden Stage for the Kamen Rider Girls "Exploded" album mini-live + handshake. The event started at 14:00 but they were selling CDs since 12:00 so I just got there as soon as I could. The stage was nicely set out under the rollercoaster at Tokyo Dome City Attractions - which was a nice setting - and Mitsuki kept looking at it every time it went past. Anyway, they had all these seats laid in in front of the stage which were all taken well in advance. The crowd was a mix of a normal idol crowd and kids holding Kamen Rider toys who were there with their parents.

At about 13:00 they did an on-stage rehearsal! This was really good and you were allowed to take photos of this (but not of the actual performance). This lasted about 15 minutes and they did two songs. They weren't in costume but still looked really great in their casual clothes (and if you see the pics, Mitsuki's weren't exactly casual). The real performance started at 14:00 and went on for about 35 mins. The handshakes lasted then until 15:10. It was really different seeing them in rehearsal and the real performance. It was like they totally switched-on for the real performance and gave it this great energy they didn't show in the rehearsal. Also they were switched-on in their idol ways, smiling, pulling faces at things and waving at the crowd - which they didn't do in the rehearsal. I've seen this with other groups since but was my first time experiencing that. They did a great bunch of songs - I can't remember them all but definitely EXA, Just The Beginning, and finished with Saite. All the girls looked beautiful but I was completely oshi goggles on Mitsuki for the performance. She was so cool. One thing about this venue is that the sound was quite low and the crowd weren't fully going for it, maybe because of the setting and all the random passers-by.

So this was a free event and basically then they had the handshakes. Before the performance I thought it was one album got you one handshake with one member - and since albums are expensive, I just bought one to handshake Mitsuki. Much to my surprise though - it was an all-group handshake, you had to walk down the line. Now I struggle enough thinking of enough things to say to one idol, let alone a whole group, so wasn't really looking forward to this. They are really really pretty and really small in person, but, like most idols, you see all their flaws and bad skin up close. I kinda struggled with most of them, after saying I was from England and I just arrived in Japan today, didn't know what else to say, I said they were cute and their performance was good, but then most of them we kinda stood there for a while a bit blank. Second from last was Mitsuki, who I was really looking forward to and she definitely gave the best handshake experience of the lot. Instead of the standing round blank bit after we ran out of things to say she did some crazy handshake thing to me ending with "and now we are friends". I don't watch the show, but people told me it was the Fourze handshake. It was good fun and made the whole handshake thing with her a lot more memorable.

It's been awhile since this thread's updated, so a quick bullet list of what's going on with the Girls? Maybe?

- Erica announced her graduation on the radio, then twitter, then the official homepage, and both she and Nao graduated together at the fourth one-man live show January 24th.
- The five remaining members are heading to Thailand this month for fan meeting!
- Chisato has a solo song for the Sengoku Basara 10th anniversary CD and will be at one of the stage shows in March.
- Also in March, Micchan has a stage play.
- Aya actually just announced on twitter that she and Amaki Jun are sisters and they're just using different names for showbiz. Which is neat, though nothing doing about the group. Interesting that Jun was in Kamen Joshi, though.

They've also announced that they've done away with wearing belts so as to support all of Kamen Rider rather than just individual seasons, and that their fifth one-man will be in June, though it's listed as being in Tokyo/Osaka. I'm interested to see what the next single is like (and bummed that Tourbillion is doing the Battride III theme).

The news about Aya and Jun sure is interesting, I'd suspected but never knew. It's been the biggest idol news for me in a long time! A lot to think about there, haha. Makes me wanna go see KRGS again more, kinda like how the Jun fans always used to go see Stella*Beats for Aya...

The Girls just announced on twitter and their Ameba broadcast that they're going to Hawaii in May for the big Honolulu Ekiden!  Racing and singing both. And they have their fifth one-man live tour this June, as well.

She's been working hard at acting and to get more parts! Which is the only reason they ever performed without her. It's not a huge shock, other than how quickly it happened. Announcing and then graduating in less than a week still gets you reeling.

She must have gotten something big or in the process of getting a big roll in a production to graduate this quickly. She'll still be part of the one man live in May, so it's all good (at least in my eyes.)

Outside of Aya, I don't think the girls really do anything outside of the group. Jeina does her showroom videos, Aya acts every now and then, Hitomi does Radiranger, and Chisato also does Radiranger (and can't seem to get away from the One Piece tower. Or Monster Hunter lol.)

Actually... they do. And they do a lot, honestly.

Jiena was a finalist in the avex Voice Actor Auditions last summer; she made it to the final four. The auditions were based in showroom, and she decided to continue doing them because she enjoyed it. She also takes lessons in voice acting!

Hitomi performed in a stage play in February, and has done modeling for Bandai and other magazines. I don't know which ones, but I do know she has shared some photos from both fashion and hair modeling. She also appeared in Kamen Rider Drive with a returning role (that even returned for the V cinema Kamen Rider Chaser).

Chisato had a solo live event in January, performed in last year's Sengoku Basara anniversary AND recorded a song for the CD, put out a gravure DVD, and has also done Bandai modeling. She takes voice acting lessons with Jiena, and got her first voice acting part in the Kamen Rider Mach drama CD.

Aya just finished her second run in the stage play Montage, has done several others, assisted on a variety show, has done a tv drama, had a gravure photoshoot with her sister Amaki Jun and constantly takes dance lessons. She choreographed one of the KRGS B sides for live performance last winter (Scarlet Savage).

And all of them assist on Radiranger. They just take turns. It's unusual for more than two of them to appear at a time.

I do recall reading seeing something on the Twitter feed about Hitomi doing a stage play earlier this year, same with Aya. More recently, I've only seen Aya and Mitsuki being the ones that do the most activities outside of the group. I know Chisato did some modeling for Bandai Fashion for their Kamen Rider Faiz and Ex-Aid line of clothing (I thought she looked adorable dressed up as Poppi lo), but surprised that she takes voice acting lessons (and with Jeina no less, although they seem to be really close so I'm not surprised they're taking it together.)

So have there been any news on recruiting new members? No auditions being planned by Avex?

Yes. It is. That's how she always has it spelled. The katanaka she uses spells it "Je na". She made mention somewhere in her blog, I don't quite remember, that her mom named her Jiena and I seems like it is a very popular letter in the Philippines. If you go back to when she made English blog posts, she starts all of them with "Jiena on stage".
