Not sure if I have the time to finish this but this idea struck me...
In life, everybody wants to have a 2nd chance...
To turn back time...
To right the wrongs...
To make the right turn...
And to finally say the words you want to say...
“Breaking News! Takahashi Minami, Leader of AKB48 injured by falling stage lights in during their Tokyo Dome performance….” Announced throughout various TV channels as an Ambulance zips through the heavy night traffic to deliver its package to the hospital.
As the ambulance reached its destination, the procedure to unload its package of the injured was rudely interrupted by packs of reporters, hungry for an interview…
“Maeda Atsuko-san, could you tell me how you feel about this….”
“Maeda-san! We understand that Takahashi-san saved your life by pushing you away…”
“Acchan! If Takamina dies, will you still graduate from AKB?”
“Acchan…”
“ENOUGH!!!” barked one of the senior paramedics as they forcefully drag the reporters away one by one with the help of the security, allowing the stretcher containing Takahashi Minami to be pushed into the A&E.

Darkness enveloped Takamina’s world as anesthetic took effect, bringing much needed relief to the pain she’s enduring.
However, in the darkness, she could still hear the buzz of the operation theater as doctors race against time to bring her back from the gates of hell.
“Forceps…”
“Gauze…”
“Doctor! She’s still bleeding…”
‘Huh… I’m still bleeding? Why can’t I feel it…’ asked Takamina in her mind
‘That’s because you’re under anesthesia…’ came a reply to her question, jolting her into a state of confusion.
‘Who are you? Why can you hear me? Isn’t this my mind?’ asked Takamina to this other voice that replied her.
‘I’m here but I’m there. I can be anywhere and everywhere. But that’s not the important thing. The important thing is why am I here?’ asked the voice.
‘Why… Are you a fragment of my imagination? To comfort me in this darkness…’
‘Well… I’m afraid not… Why don’t you open your eyes and see me…’
‘Open my eyes? But I’m asleep now… Or I’m supposed to until the operation is over. I can’t just wake up and walk out of the operation can I?’
The voice seemed to sigh before a sharp rap to the head brought tears to Takamina’s eyes.
‘Itai! How could you hit someone that’s injured…’ cried Takamina as she open her eyes to see her assailant. However the sight when she opened her eyes brought a loud shriek out of her.
She is now floating above herself, watching herself being operated on by a team of doctors….

‘Oh just stop the shrieking… it’s bad for my ears’ chided the voice.
Takamina blushed in embarrassment at her outburst before looking up to see the source of the voice.
The familiar short hair…
The piercing eyes with a mischievous twinkle..
The sharp nose of an aristocrat..
The tall and slender body, made possible only by the endless practice in the theater
The air of arrogant and pride…
“…. You gotta be kidding me… Mariko-sama?” exclaims Takamina as she shook her head in disbelief at the sight before her.

What will happen next? I bring you the next Chapter of The 2nd Chance =)
Chapter 1
My name is Takahashi Minami and I’m an idol that has achieved her dream of performing in Tokyo Dome.
And yes, I’m the leader of AKB48, the biggest pop band in the entire world.
And just to recap, I had met with an unfortunate little accident at Tokyo Dome.
Well… it’s just a small accident of some lights dropping on me, actually Acchan first, but I just have to push her away. She’s the Ace, although graduating, she’s still the Ace and as Leader, it’s my job to take care of everybody right?
And NO… There’s no Astumina! I’m just saving her because it’s my job as the leader.
And the rest is just common sense.
Heavy lights dropped…
I pushed Atsuko away…
I take her place in the hospital…
But don’t you worry! I’m pretty sure I will be well soon! I’m not the Leader for nothing! No stage lights can kill me right?
But do pardon me; I think the anesthesia must be messing up with my brain…
Why?
I am now looking at myself being operated by a group of doctors and I’m talking to Mariko-sama, who has being kind enough to invade the privacy of my dream.
Of all people, why must it be Mariko-sama! WHY….

“…. You gotta be kidding me… Mariko-sama?”
“Ehem… “ coughed Mariko-sama in embarrassment.
“You know… everybody says death doesn’t have a sense of humor and there’s too much complains about me being scary and somber so I’m putting on a brand new image! And here you go! Death now comes in the image of the greatest band on Earth! Hahaha!” laughs the Mariko-sama.
Takamina involuntary gives herself a face palm upon hearing that.
Today’s so gonna be the worst day of her life…
Firstly, it’s the last day of Tokyo Dome, which means Acchan will graduate really soon.
Secondly, faulty rigging of the stage lights, causing one of the parcans to drop during the encore, marred the almost perfect concert and injured her in the process.
Thirdly, she was rudely awaken in her sleep to witness her own operation by Mariko-sama, who calls herself Death…
‘Chotte Matte… if you are Death… then…then… I’m dead… am I?” asked Takamina in realization as tears starts to well upon her eyes.
‘Ah! We have a smart one here! Pretty much soon… You had seen your body. It’s a mangled mess. But don’t worry too much; the mortician will give you your best look during your funeral…’ laughed the Mariko-sama as she extended her hand towards Takamina.
‘It’s time. The doctors won’t be able to stop your internal bleeding. Witnessing your own death is a painful thing. Let’s avoid that shall we?’
‘But… I don’t want to go…”
Despite her protest, Death isn’t one that will take No for an answer. With a quick drag of the collar, Death pulls Takamina away, vanishing through the walls into the waiting room.
“There you go… Out of Sight… Out of mind…”

A loud beep emerged from the operation theater as the red light indicating an operation blinks out.
“Is it the end of the operation…” asked various members in unison.
“Takamina will be ok… right?”
“Baka! Miichan! Takamina will be ok! She’s like a cockroach! She won’t die that easily…” replied Maeda Atsuko, rapping her friend on the forehead.
However, she couldn’t remove the feeling of uneasiness that is growing inside her.
‘I should be the one that’s inside… Not you… Please be safe… And I haven’t…’ the feelings inside threatens to break the dam that is holding back her emotions as her eyes start to moisten.
At this moment, the doors swung open, as the medical team cladded in protective greens walked out, breaking the serenity of the waiting room.
“Could we speak to the guardian of Takahashi Minashi-san please?”
“Yes… That will be me… Doctor, how is she? She’s a tough one isn’t she?” replied Togasaki-san.
“I’m sorry but we did our best. The patient had fought hard together with us but her injuries were too extensive. Please prepare to make the arrangements…”

Time seemed to freeze in the room for the members upon hearing the doctor’s announcement.
Soon after, hot tears and sounds of wailing emerged from each of them as they come into realization that they will never see their beloved leader again.
As they turned towards each other for comfort and solace, one member started to lose control of her emotions as her world rapidly collapse…
“No! I refused to believe this! You promised me! You will be fine! What happened to our promise… What happened… Why Takamina! Why! It should be me inside! Not you…” sobbed Maeda Atsuko as she fall down to her knees, her legs giving way due to the shock.
The breakdown of their ace became the catalyst for more emotional breakdowns as they all realized it’s the end of the journey for their only leader.
“Goodbye… Takamina….”

“No… This couldn’t be happening…” cried out Takamina as she witnessed the scene of her members breaking down before her.
“Mina-san! I’m here… Can’t you see me? You have to stop this! There’s still Acchan’s graduation show tomorrow! You can’t just all just break down like this…” screamed out Takamina loudly as she tried to encourage her members.
“Oh give up… You know they can’t hear you…” advised Death to no avail as Takamina continued to play the role of the leader, even when she can’t be seen and heard by her members.
But Takamina soon realized the futility of her situation. She can’t be seen. She can’t be heard.
“Sou… Sou… Sou!!! This can’t be happening!!!”
“But it is… Time to say your goodbyes. Another world is awaiting…”
“Must I…”
“Unfortunately so… With every beginning, there’s an end… With every life, there’s a death… it’s the rule…”
“But I still have so much that I haven’t done… So much I haven’t say…” replied Takamina as she approached the sunken figure of Acchan, trying to comfort her with words and touches that she can’t hear and feel.
“You like her… don’t you?”
“Me? Her? Impossible… We are girls… And I hate Ls…” replied Takamina, flabbergasted.
“Oh don’t be shy… You can’t cheat Death. I can see deep into your heart. There’s nothing to be shy of… Your emotions… She won’t know anyway… Not anymore…”
“Baka… Acchan… I’m sorry…I’m sorry I took so long… I… Aishiteru…”
“That wasn’t so hard isn’t it? Coming to terms with your feelings. What if I tell you there’s a chance to tell her what you feel? What if there’s a 2nd chance?”
“Nani? A 2nd chance? Really? How! Where! What!”
“Only today! Death is feeling generous! Touched by the feelings of 48 hearts! Death shall give you a 2nd chance! But that’s only if you can win me at a contest!”
“A contest?!? How…”
“That’s easy… If I’m Mariko-sama… then I’m sure you know what it’s gonna be…”
“No way… You gotta be kidding me… Don’t tell me it’s…”
“YES! You’re right! The mighty Mariko-sama shall decide it all on a game of JAN KEN PON!”

Chapter 2 Pt I
“MARIKO-SAMA!!!” I shouted as I fall deeply into the abyss.
As darkness enveloped me, I regretted my decision to use the rock instead of my usual scissors.
How would I know that Mariko-sama would do a “Give-Me-Five”?
And now, was the price of defeat, the one-way ticket towards the other side?
I refused…
I won’t…
And I’m sure the many fans won’t allow that!
Not before I get to make Atsumina happen for real… Right?
I face-palmed myself at this thought.
Bakamina… Stop it…
It’s GAME OVER…
No more credits left to start over again…
It’s like the GO-TO-JAIL card for Monopoly.
Do not pass Go… Do not collect $200…
No more AKB48… No more Theater… No more Team A… No more worrying…
And…
No more Acchan…
No more of the quiet Ace with a disarming smile…
No more wrinkling of her nose when she makes a mistake…
No more little cranes of hers to wish us luck for the next big show…
No more…
No more…
I didn’t care where I was going now…
My heart had died together with my life…

“Ah… Itai!!!”
“Yokatta! Sensei! There’s a response!”
“Takahashi-san! Takahashi-san! Thank goodness you are fine! Maeda-san will be most glad…”
My ears twitched at the sound of Maeda-san.
The last thing I could remember was losing to Death in a Jan Ken contest and falling deep into the abyss.
So is Afterlife going to realize all my fantasies? If so, then being dead isn’t that bad after all.
I struggled to open my eyes, which wasn’t easy, considering the piercing sunrays are trying their best to keep them closed.
However, with great effort that is the natural talent of the AKB Captain, I conquered the pain from the sun and took a little peek out of my eyelids.
From the little peek, I saw a silhouette standing over me. He seemed to be a doctor as he ran his trained fingers over my body.
As his fingers hovered over my chest area, I start to panic.
Yes… It might be a doctor’s right to examine the patient but the fingers are at my sensitive areas. My breathing quicken in panic as I prayed hard that he would leave those undiscovered areas, undiscovered.
But fate wasn’t kind to me, considering my recent circumstances, as he placed a palm over my chest and pressed down, resulting in an extreme sharp pain.
“AH ITAI!!!” I screamed in response.
‘It must be the wounds I had when the lights crashed down on me… But wait a minute. Why does my chest felt different? My chest…. Wait… My BREAST! What happened? Why does my body feel so different?’
As I tossed around in pain and panic, a pair of arms snaked around my neck and encircled me in an embrace…

Those arms…
They felt familiar…
The scent that comes along with them…
The hair…
I couldn’t take it anymore as I opened my eyes to see the familiar sight of Maeda hugging me.
And no… it wasn’t Maeda Astuko.
It was Maeda Ami…
‘God… if you are hearing me… YOU GOT THE WRONG MAEDA!!! I WANT MAEDA ATSUKO! NOT MAEDA AMI!!!’
* I declare this day the worst day of my life / afterlife / whatever life that I have left…

Great second chance...
Erm... is it going to be Kai with Atsuko or Minami able to come back alive again so she can have her happy ending with Atsuko.
Interesting plot... can't wait to see the next one.

Chapter 2 Part 2
I think I fainted again as the familiar sense of blacking out happened again. Was it due to the pain or the shock of seeing the wrong Maeda, I didn’t knew.
What I understand was that the world started to spin around and everything turned into darkness.
And that’s when she appeared again.
The one that takes the face of Shinoda Mariko…
The one called Death…
I was in a pretty grumpy mode in my sub-conscious mind when she appeared, smiling as if nothing had happened.
“Ah… you are finally awake?”
“Yes… and I fainted again….” I replied with my usual pout.
“Oh… somebody is grouchy today… What happened? Somebody brought you back to life?” replied Death as she covered her mouth with her hand to hide a coy laugher.
“…”
“You did lose the jankan. You should have done a Paruru. The scissors would have won against my cloth. But then again, you were never Jankan Senbatsu. But Death-sama is in a good mode. Therefore, you shall…”
“Live…? Not in this state! I can’t! This is wrong! I’m not going to go back like this…”
“Like I said… Beggars can’t be choosers and Losers can’t be weepers… You can consider this… The Consolation prize…”
“Consolation prize? Over my bloody ass! I didn’t ask for this! I demand a rematch… A rematch! I want a…”

“Rematch….” I gasped and immediately broke into a coughing fit due to the exhaustion from talking in my current condition.
‘Damn the bloody no-good clone of Mariko-sama…’ I though as each cough brought a sharp jab of pain on my chest.
“I won’t advise you to be so active for a start…” a soft voice hinted with a smirk.
‘… That sounds familiar... It’s like the same… same but different…’
A peep from my eye brought another attack of wheezing cough attacks…
“Seriously, Takahashi-san, if you keep on over exacting on yourself…” chides the doctor, as he gives himself a facepalm, only to receive a playful rap on the head by the nurse behind him.
“Watanabe Sensei… shouldn’t you be glad that he didn’t die on you? It won’t be good if our God’s Hand has a blemish on his perfect record…”
“Mou… That hurts… Can’t you cut me some slack…” whines the doctor as he massaged his head, pretending that the rap was the most painful thing in the world.
“Oh… stop acting like a kid in front of your patient…” chides the nurse as she pulls the childish doctor away by the collar to introduce themselves properly.
“Takahashi-kun, I am your nurse-in-charge, Kashiwagi Yuki and this is Watanabe Yuma-sensei, your doctor-in-charge… Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu…”
“Uso…”
This is totally getting out of hand!!!

First I have to die…
But I got a chance to be revived…
But lost it in a chance of Jankan, which I was totally never good in…
And I got revived but…
In a body that is me but not me…
And got hugged by the wrong Maeda…
And now the wrong Maeda is gone…
But I see Mayuki in front of me…
But the Mayu is not the perfect cyborg idol but the perfect cyborg doctor
And she’s now a MALE …
And the perfect dazzling idol Yukirin is now the perfect dazzling nurse…
And what else next?
A visit by Riku and Kuu?

Yeah... everything seems to be different.... like she (he) is in a different universe all together...

Is this new version of dimension some kind of test for Kai?
