LONDON–The Spice Girls wannabe stars again.

Following a calculated publicity buildup, the original Girl Power group of the 1990s announced yesterday they had agreed to get together for 11 concerts around the world in December and January.

The shows will be their first since breaking up in 2001, and the first with all five of the original group since Geri (Ginger Spice) Halliwell quit to pursue a solo career in 1998.

"Imagine you got divorced and you've got back together with your ex-husband," Halliwell said. "She just appreciates the fact we've let her back in," joked Victoria (Posh Spice) Beckham.

The only North American stops on the tour are Los Angeles (Dec. 7), Las Vegas (Dec. and New York (Dec. 11). They finish the tour in Buenes Aires, Argentina, on Jan. 24

Halliwell and Beckham joined with Melanie (Sporty Spice) Chisholm, Emma (Baby Spice) Bunton and Melanie (Scary Spice) Brown to pose for photos and announce tour plans.

"We wanted to say thank you to our fans. It just feels very right for us," Chisholm said.

Fans stood outside the news conference, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Spice Girls.

The Spice Girls' first single, "Wannabe", was released in 1996 and topped charts in 31 countries. They went on to sell more than 55 million records. But their last album, Forever, released in 2000 and without Halliwell, fared poorly.

You could now call them the Spice Mums. Beckham said the tour would be designed to accommodate the band members' seven children. And Bunton is now pregnant with her first child.

EMI said it plans to release the first Spice Girls greatest-hits album in November. The group also plans to make their first official documentary for TV broadcast.

Anyway no, I'm not excited. I was never a fan when they first appeared anyway. But yeh, for all the excitement of performing again and a world tour, the media were more interested in Victoria's boobs. There was a 2 page spread dedicated to Victoria's boobs throughout the years in the Mirror today, just to see how they've changed

I had heard rumors about this! I'm pretty excited that they came true. I LOVED them when I was a kid and I think it would be interesting to see them again. Too bad I live in Georgia.... NONE of those locations are close.

I shit you not...this is a true story..

Back in '97, I took a Japanese friend to a quiet nightclub in Australia one Wednesday night, and after a bunch of drinks, my little friend was wasted.. She said she was going to the toilet and off she went..After about 10mins I started to worry (since the nightclub was dead), so I went to the girls and waited near the door.. While I was waiting, along came this blonde chic who introduced herself to me as being "Baby Spice".. I had no idea what the hell she was talking about, since I had no clue when it came to pop music. Anyways, she asked what I was doing outside the girls toilet, so I told her I was waiting for a friend that has been in there for a long time.. This girl goes in, then comes back out and asks if my friend was a short Asian girl.. "Yep, that's the one", I say.. So this "Baby Spice" chic grabs my hand and leads me into the girls toilet, and there's my friend all but passed out on the floor. She helps me pick her up, I say "Thanks", and I took my friend home..
The next day, I was at work and one of the workers was reading a mag with "Spice Girls" on the cover.. I have a look, and I'm like "Hey, the blonde chic is Baby Spice!!". The co-worker looks at me like I'm some type of idiot for pointing out what he thought was obvious.. He then tells me he was going to their show that night, and that they arrived in Melbourne the day before..

If only I was a fan, that would've been great..

Baby Spice using the public toilet like every other woman...they must've been pretty unknown back then.

Looking at dem now and whoa. Time has been rough. Except Posh who is a robot lol....the solo stuff wasn't so good either. Scary is looking really scary nowadays.

Loved Wannabe, 2 Becomes 1, Stop! and taped all their songs ROFL. I didn't mind their POST-Ginger music either.

I had a feeling, after hearing about the rumours, that they would do something again . . .

I really loved them back in the day, and I'll confess that I still remember the lyrics to their music (while giving it an actual listen occasionally), but I don't know if I would go to a concert, unless I had the extra money to spend.
