So it's not based on the books per se, but more inspired - the two films have been awesome by any measure.

The latest we can expect some time this year I believe is Bourne Ultimatum

Woohoo!

HELL YEAH!! The trailer makes the The Bourne Ultimatum look suh-weet! Jason Bourne was kicking ass in a gritty, realistic fashion before Casino Royale. You just have to route for the guy as he's always thinking, never stopping and turning everyday items into weapons that hurt Pen through the hand? Vodka into the eyes?

Anyway,

I think the best quality about the films is that they make it feel realistic even though you know it's not.

A really cool concept.

If they are going to keep doing movies based on Robert Ludlum books, I would like "The Matarese Circle". Alan Brandon Scofield and Vassily Alexeievich Taleniekov are a sure match to Jason Bourne.

And somebody should also think about doing "Shibumi" by Trevanian. I think Jason Bourne would have a hard time trying to beat Nicholai Hel  :P

Ha! Besides the first part of the 1st movie, the Bourne series have NOTHING to do with the books. In fact, Supremacy should have been set in HK and China, not Germany! And furthermore the Jason Bourne character's skill with unarmed combat seems more closely based on Jonathan Hemlock from the 2 novels by Trevanian where he uses everyday objects to disable and kill his opponents. If you like this type of action you should definitely check out the EIGER SANCTION and the LOO SANCTION books.

^ They certainly didn't

I thought it was really good IMO. That fight scene in Tangier was so brutal, and by having no music added to it, it made it all the more effective. The good thing about fight scenes like that in the Bourne series is that, it should be hard to kill a man.

The fight scenes are definitely very intense. Gonna buy the DVD once it's out.

Frank Marshall Says Bourne 4 Will Hit in Summer of 2011

So it looks like Twitter really is becoming a good resource for updates. Producer Frank Marshall wrote a few updates on his Twitter (twitter.com/LeDoctor) recently related to Bourne 4, the in-development fourth sequel in the Jason Bourne series. "Bourne 4 is in the works for Summer 2011," Marshall wrote. He later added in another update that "George Nolfi is the writer of Bourne 4, [and he] should have a draft by June," mentioning that, "it really takes long to get these scripts right!" Of course! And especially on something like this, I'm more than happy that Marshall is taking as much time as he needs and not rushing into it.

Our last update on Bourne 4 hit in October, when it was officially confirmed that George Nolfi (of Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, The Bourne Ultimatum) was writing the script and that Paul Greengrass was back on board to direct. Before that, our last headline stated "Fourth Jason Bourne Film on Track for 2010", but obviously it will now be 2011, which means Nolfi will finish up this script soon and they'll shoot next year. Marshall said previously they'll probably take Bourne "down south" to South America in this fourth film, but story details aren't fully finalized, and with re-writes still occurring, who knows where they'll end up?

If you're also on Twitter, I'd suggest you follow Frank Marshall for more updates. And while you're at it, follow us as well at twitter.com/firstshowing. We'll let you know when we hear any more on Bourne 4!
