I've been predicting this a lot. I have my bets still on Sashi but changed my mind and think Mayu might just take it. I see Haruna going up. It makes me sad when I see girls like this

Girls who have been in AKB48 since the first election and have yet to rank. Girls like Chikano Rina, Tanabe Miku, Uchida Mayumi, Deguchi Aki, Tsuzuki Rika, Uchiyama Mikoto etc. I would like everyone to rank. Mind you, sensoukyo isn't the only important thing.

The big thing this year, in my opinion, is that Ikoma Rina is eligible. I'm not sure if the Nogizaka fans would power vote her since that would be money spent on AKB, but it's still a possibility.

Yeah, that'll be interesting. I'm 100% certain she'll make top 80, but where is impossible to predict.

Based on her handshake sales she isn't really that popular, but she does have some die-hard fans:

One of them is in debt and got scolded by Ikoma, so he probably won't be able to powervote her by a 1000+ copies
But yeah, perhaps Nogizaka46 fans in general will want to support Ikoma as well.

Another scenario is that people embrace Matsui Rena as Nogizaka46 representative and that they'll throw a couple votes her way.
The upside of voting for Rena instead of Ikoma, is that the Nogizaka46 fans can say there is a Nogizaka46 member ranked in the top 7!  XD

I am quite nervous and excited for this election. I mean with the whole Sashi thing last election!  Since the whole big shuffle occured, I think the votes this year might come out unexpected and interesting! I will like to vote for the girls who have not been rank yet, just to give them a chance. I can't wait for the election to start!!!

I kinda agree with this. Sasshi's center was one shot and Yuko's graduating so most likely Yukirin or Mayuyu will most likely be center

I disagree. I think it'll be an easy win for Sasshi.

Sasshi is still going strong. Her TV appearances are still plentiful and entertaining.
In other words, she didn't do anything which would indicate a drop in position.

Furthermore, I feel a lot of Yuko voters might vote for Sasshi now.
Especially, the more casual fans who only know a couple of big names from TV.
I think Yui and Mayu will benefit from this as well for various reasons.

Last time there was a 50.000 (!) vote gap between Sasshi and Mayu/Yuki. That's huge.
Neither Yuki or Mayu really stepped up into the spotlight the past year.
Yuki is really busy with her solo stuff, which is all great, but I don't think it'll bring her extra support for the election.

I think the big attraction this year will be some huge jumps from relative newcomers.
Girls like Kawaei (especially), Mako and Miki, etc, will rank up significantly. I'll post a full list of thoughts later, haha.

Every year I say I'm not going to vote but every year I seem to buy more votes than the previous year... damn Aki-P  :banghead:

Seems like the trend will continue as I already have one vote paid for already  :banghead:

I'm not sure what we are even voting for anymore, last year it seemed we were voting for who would appear in a bikini photomook? It was even in the title of our thread!  "[2013.06.08] AKB48 5th Senbatsu Election & Swimwear Surprise 2013 [Mook]" http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=35282.0

^^ i would technically agree with the reasoning because as a fan of sasshi, there shouldn't be any drop and the gap between her and Yuko was large enough for no one to catch up.

History doesn't side on repeating but she can do it if the votes go that way.

My reasoning comes from what happened last year in the fact that a breakthough happened which may give a push for Mayu or Yukirin.

Although the high possibility where Jurina may land will make her a dark horse.

In the end I'm not really sure...

Elaborate prediction time!

Green = rank up!
Orange = more or less the same
Red = rank down

01. Rino Sashihara

02. Matsui Jurina

She has been one of the most visible members this years, and that helps a lot.
With her different looks, from loli to ikemen, she appeals to a wide variety of fans.
She wanted to be number from day one and she's working hard for it.

03. Watanabe Mayu

Forever top five, never the center.
Aside from some of the Watarirouka promotion I've barely seen her this year.
Last year was her big chance. It didn't happen then, and it won't happen now.
I think Mayu is super awesome, an amazing idol, but I miss her fighting spirit and freshness.

04. Matsui Rena

Still going strong. She's been working the social media a lot too.
She might get some added support from the Nogizaka46 fans, who knows.

05. Kashiwagi Yuki

Her solo career is beginning to stand in the way of her time in AKB48. It feels like she's ready to move on.
Then again, if people want to support her solo career they might still want her in AKB48 as well. Tricky.

06. Takahashi Minami

Highly respected and even fans who don't have her as oshimen still throw a vote her way.
With a lot of the older generation members dropping out she might get extra support.

07. Yamamoto Sayaka

The top dog in NMB48. She gets exposure during concerts with her guitar performances, she's entertaining in a variety setting and she's been getting tons of hot gravure.

08. Yokoyama Yui

Fact: Yui always ranks up. She gained name recognized due to Yokoyama Team A and she's generally very likable.

09. Miyazawa Sae
Sae was pretty much invisible last year, but she still ranked up. That says a lot about her fanbase.
Being old Team K she might harvest some Yuko votes too to maintain her ranking.

10. Kojima Haruna

She's great at what she does, but completely stuck in her own antics. Heart Ereki wasn't that great and I think it'll be one on Haruna's last moments in the spotlight in AKB48.

11. Kawaei Rina

Ricchan hitori de dekirumon! The new variety queen.
I said this before, but Kawaei will be essential in AKB48's future. They need girls like her badly.

12. Suda Akari

The perfect idol. Contagious smile, positive, upbeat, entertaining... and we love her for it.

13. Watanabe Miyuki

The scandal might have her hurt a little bit, but I also know many fans don't care that much.
She's a pleasure to look at and I'm sure she'll make top 16 again. Easily.

14. Miyawaki Sakura

HKT48's true center, haha. She's still gaining ground. Watching her clips from the Kagoshima concerts was very impressive.
She's grown a lot in various ways and she knows how to play the fans.

15. Kizaki Yuria

Even though my Yuria fandom decreased a bit, I think she's still doing great. Plenty of gravure.
Too bad SKE48 doesn't have a show where she can show her variety side anymore.

16. Shimazaki Haruka

Her push has ended and she seems to have build a somewhat stable fanbase.
I still think she will drop a few spots, but knowing Aki-P they'll promote her enough again to make top 16.

Obviously I have a lot to say about all the other girls as well, but let's leave it at this top 16 for the time being, haha.
Some people mention the possibility of Kitahara, Takajo and Minegishi re-entering senbatsu. Personally, I don't that will ever happen.
The only one who might have a shot is Miichan, but I'd be disappointed if that happened.
I hope the people who want to support Team 4 will vote for one of the three musketeers instead.

senbatsu

- sashihara: i think she will win again. i don't know reason but i think she too powerful to defeated  :nervous

- jurina: favorite aki-p.. and the first member center in 2 grup (ske48 & akb48). my predict= top 3  :)

- kojiharu: maybe this year will surpass takamina. because first center singles (heart ereki) & PB very success.

- sayanee: perfect ace.. not only dance, voice, guitar skill are good but personality & leadership also very good... like combination

yuko+takamina . no doubt she will shine in election 2014  :)

- kojimako: i not surprised if she can enter senbatsu after super mega push.

undergirl

- ikoma: maybe nogizaka fans will powervote she

- naachan: no doubt she can make to UG like ricchan & annin last year after successful 3 musketeer.

- yuria: maybe will drop because transferred to akb48. maybe some ske wota will change vote to others ske member.

Top 3 spot challengers.
- I can see Sasshi getting No.1 again this year. Sasshi is great the way she is, we all like her for it.
But honestly, I don't want to see it happen and wish Mayuyu gets it. :thumbup

Last year's single songs from AKB are probably the weakest in the past few years. They can definitely do a lot better here. Sure, the Senbatsu will only affect one song. And they'll do a lot of mix-ups and double centers and stuff.
But the whole Senbatsu results are a basic showing of which members they'll push in the coming year, which of course also means their basic music direction. A strong performer like Mayuyu would definitely be the better choice. I've had enough onigiri for my lifetime.

- So I don't think I need to explain why Mayuyu should be No.1. It's frigging Mayuyu.

- J is SKE. So I'm biased and hope she and Rena stay together around 7th again. She's done a lot for the group and has been super active. I'll never fully appreciate her enough to honestly support her getting in top 3 though. :nervous

- Yukirin I still don't see getting No.1. Her solo activities are godly. Yes, she is a fantastic singer and dancer. And yes, she is totally hot.
But she's like pulled every idol pre-graduation flag in existence (captain, early-gen, solo concerts, doing lotsa sexy songs, acting, meeting her idol, singing in a wedding dress...). Wait, she hasn't been center for any single yet... I take it all back, Yukirin No.1 all the way!
More seriously. I'd be happy if she just stayed at a high spot like she has now. Any higher is just extra strawberries for us Yukirin fans.

Mayuyu 1, Sasshi 2, Yukirin 3 it is then. :)

Yeah. I'm more interested how it'll affect the future. Seeing the results as a whole and getting an idea who they'll push, like Akarin last year really helped her.
I hope Kawaei gets higher though. A build-up for a Paruru vs Kawaei Center Nova battle next 1-2 years might be pretty crazy (they should go all AKB0048 and start giving out "Acchan/Yuko the 2nd" honor titles to these two if it happens).

- I can see Sasshi getting No.1 again this year. Sasshi is great the way she is, we all like her for it.
But honestly, I don't want to see it happen and wish Mayuyu gets it. :thumbup

A strong performer like Mayuyu would definitely be the better choice. I've had enough onigiri for my lifetime.

- So I don't think I need to explain why Mayuyu should be No.1. It's frigging Mayuyu.

Mayuyu 1, Sasshi 2, Yukirin 3 it is then. :)

I agree with you. Power to the MAYUYU!!!! :onioncheer: :onionwhip: :cool1: :omamori: :prayers: :kneelbow:

But the whole Senbatsu results are a basic showing of which members they'll push in the coming year, which of course also means their basic music direction.

Interesting points, but I'm not sure if I agree with either of them...

- Isn't the Senbatsu result a basic showing of the girls they pushed the year before it?
For example, girls like Paruru ranking high because they've been everywhere the year before the election. (and much less after the election)
I think it's more like "we pimped Kawaei in 2013, she ranks high in 2014, so now we'll start promoting <someone else>."
In addition, there are also tons of girls who ranked pretty high (often surprisingly), but didn't get much out of it at all.

- Their basic music direction is still pretty generic. For example, Heart Ereki could have had any girl as center and it wouldn't have mattered. I think that's the same for most of their singles. The Aki-P argument of "we select the senbatsu based on who fit the song" hasn't been true for a long time, if ever. Sadly, even the sister groups lost their identity musically speaking. The singles during this release spree are completely interchangeable.

Of course. That and a measure of their efforts in the previous year. I'm just reading between the lines too much, don't mind me. XD

Still wondering why they haven't just moved her to AKB permanently. It'll help save some travel fees at least. :nervous
