Title: Vote for the Best Kpop Song of 2010
Post by: lollipopgirl on December 20, 2010, 10:39:12 AM: Music Bank end of year special? Done. Melon Music Awards? Done. Golden Disk Awards? Done.
Now its time for the jphip crew to shout out their opinions: what do you think is the best Kpop song of 2010?!

KARA's 'Lupin' took out the jphip mid-year best song poll (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=25373.0), with T-ara's 'I Go Crazy Because of You' a close 2nd and SNSD's 'Run Devil Run' rounding out the top 3. Will KARA win the best song of the whole year, or did one of the hits from the 2nd half of the year capture everyone's attention even more?

With double the amount of songs since the mid year vote, I've double the amount that you can vote for from five to ten.
Vote for TEN songs that you think were the best songs of 2010. Feel free to vote for ANY song be it a single, album song or special OST/CF song provided it was released on or after January 1st, 2010. As the year has yet to end and some songs are yet to be released, you are free to change your votes as much as you like up until the closing time.

Ranking the top 10 is the hardest part, but also important for voting: Rank your 10 votes in order of which you think is the best to the 10th best... Those ranked as #1 will receive 10 points, while those ranked as #10 will receive 1 point.

You MUST rank 10 for your vote to be counted! No repeats! - It shouldn't be hard to come up with 10 great songs from the whole year, even if it means checking out some songs you hadn't previously, but if majority feel they can't reach the 10, I will consider lowering the limit, but for now, continue with 10 and I can always just take 5 or 7 of people's votes later.

Voting closes 12am January 1st, 2011 EST. The results will be announced first through a special end of year Kpop JPHiP countdown radio show, counting down YOUR fave songs of 2010, hosted by me! The date of the show is TBA, but I'll try to make it close to the new year and not leave y'all hanging! After the show, the results will then be posted in this thread and you will be able to d/l the show, so never fear if you miss it.

Its been a loooong year, so here are some reminders of songs released during the first half of 2010 (although some of these, including the number one lol, are actually from 2009... google or ask if you aren't sure)

It was hard until I realized it wasn't the end of the world if I get it 'wrong' or change my mind about it later. =P

ETA: Honorable mention needs to go to Taeyang, G.NA, and Gummy for releasing really good albums/EPs this year. If this was an album list they would be near the top of the list, and it was tough cutting them from the top ten.

1. T-ara - I Go Crazy Because of You
As much as I love Echo and I really do, it was a hard decision but T-ara takes the crown. That chorus rolls off the tongue, the raps were on point, they look hot. Eunjung's short hair is fantastic, Hyomin laying on that couch with stunners looking like Scott Summers. The song fucked me up when I first heard it and recently I introduced a friend to this song and he loves it even when he butchers the Korean language. And I can't blame him because I do the same when I listen to the song. My top Kpop song of 2010. (Now I just lip sync the song to avoid any ass kickings that can come my way :lol:)
2. Girls' Generation - Echo
At the time, I wasn't feeling Run Devil Run but when Echo leaked, instantly gravitated toward it. I like RDR more now but Echo still kicks its ass. It echos (pun intended & someone stop me with these bad puns) the type of music the older SNSD discography contains yet it feels updated. The end of that song always makes me want to repeat the song until I realize I have been hearing it for awhile.
3. Kara - Lupin
I liked the song when it first came out but once that video dropped, had that shit on repeat for longer than I can remember. Emergency Exit dance I thoroughly enjoyed. Hara had her hair down for the last time they performed this song. That was hot. Also, the Lupin poster hanging on my wall is too dope. (Thanks Popple! :heart:)
4. 2AM - I Did Wrong
I still stand by the thought that Changmin can NEVER do any wrong but damn this song tugs on the heart strings. Plus the two-part video that came along with it, powerful shit.
5. Eunjung - Coffee House
Every time Eunjung's character in Coffee House succeeded in some way, this song would play and holy hell it is all happy. Whether it be when she was cute in the first half of the drama or when she becomes a bombshell in the second this was her anthem and it fit her and bias be dammed, I got a huge grin on my face this song chimed in.
6. 2NE1 - Please Don't Go
This song does go, (pun intended) goes hard. Love the way it switches up from verse to chorus. While I debate whether or not CL is the baddest female Seoul city ever had, she does shine on this song.
7. Wonder Girls - 2 Different Tears
I like the English version over the others and while it maybe inferior to the other ones, once I heard the song I was reminded why the Wonder Girls were the ones that ushered me into the new era of Kpop.
8. SG Wannabe & Ock Ju Hyun - Page One
Another drama song? And from the same one? I love me the hell out of Coffee House. The instruments alone made me enjoy the song. But add that over Eunjung on screen? Recipe for success!
9. Girls' Generation - Hoot
They get the 60s spy sound down with a hit of cheesiness which I am down for.
10. Secret - Magic
This song I think made Secret legit.

I didn't need to write about every song but thats how I roll.

While this thread is open, voting is still open. I will close it when voting is closed and I tally votes and then reopen when results are out.
That also means you can still change your votes up until the time the thread is closed. Sorry for the organisation being messed up T_T I am very excited for this though 8D
Within 24 hours I will hopefully have a chance to work on things.

For the top 30, mostly for ease of ranking and playing a top 30 for the radio show, positions were decided via total votes first but in the case of a tie, the song with the highest number of individual votes making up the total score was ranked higher. Thanks. I've already discovered an ungodly amount of kpop groups and artists since this voting was done. It would probably be completely different even just a couple months after the fact now.
