No matter how much heroic bloodshed, HK TV is still pretty conservative. Check this story out:

Quote
The Broadcast Authority (BA) received 26 complaints on Fala Chen's (陳法拉) "take off clothes and showing bra" scene; TVB received 1 complaint.
Although TVB had a complaint that the scene was not appropriate to be broadcast on television, but there are also supporters saying that the scene was reasonable and went along with the story. In the series, Fala misunderstood that Timmy Hung was gay, therefore it was reasonable that Fala treated him as a brother and does not need to avoid him while changing.

"The Stew of Life" Producer Amy Wong felt surprised by audience complaints. She said that Fala's changing scene does not intend to convey bad or immoral behavior, the public is just overreacting. Amy also expressed that there is no difference if they changed the setting to a beach where swimsuits are revealed before they get into the water.

Amy expressed that before doing this scene, she had done all her research. Gay men treat their opposite sex friends like sisters. The scene was arranged for this series because it is a comedy and should have some comedic effect. In the series, Fala misunderstood that Timmy is gay, the two become close friends. Amy understands that parents are worried, thinking that the scene should teach little girls how to protect themselves instead, but the series did display a "PG" rating before the episode started. Parents can still explain to their children on the actual content.

Finally finished downloading and watched "You're Hired" - Dayo Wong's best hit to date, up there with War of the Genders. Really dramatic and dramatic "Yu Chan Peen" at times, but it was good. The old adage. FAMILY IS RICE!! was said. Lots and twists and turns as he is this business consultant who tries to right his wrongs from his Wallstreet coldblooded days.

Him admitting to his half-brother Michael "Dai Tin-Yee" Tse (yeah, same dude from Young & Dangerous!!) and the family is all :o

Dayo and Charmaine actually make a cute couple!!

and him eating all the chili XD
(http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/6306/vlcsnap549879.jpg)

Even crushing on Charmaine Sheh!!!! WTF!!

Admittedly, I been rediscovering my roots. Watching TVB I be keeping an eye on movie stars like Anita Yuen and Dayo Wong going back to TV. Looking for potential hot mamas.

Here's a great recap site, http://k-tvb.net (http://k-tvb.net)

Last One Standing (與敵同行) is a 2008 TVB television drama from Hong Kong produced by Amy Wong. The original broadcast was on the TVB network with 45-minute episodes airing daily from September 22 to October 18 in 2008. The drama tells a story of two best friends who later find themselves destroying each other, as neither can survive if the other exists.

ROFL!

This drama is so intense. You got role reversals Roger Kwok (who usually plays goodie good guys) plays the most evil sumbitch and Kevin Cheng (he's tanned so he gets points for Louis Koo wannabe (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=19976.0)) is his best friend who was framed! EPIC. Also has YoYo Mung (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=22062.0) has sex candy.

I missed half of the episodes of Last One Standing (與敵同行), heard it was even award winning!! It's pretty intense. The main character Ah Hay is doing the whole Infernal Affairs undercover thing in his cousin Tong's firm to find more evidence to clear his name. ITS CRAZY everyone gets killed off, and Ah Hay has to seduce every chick. Like the geek Kelly (played by Macy Chan above) and she loves him so much she digs up clues for him. And Yoyo Mung is all confused when Ah Hay flips out during her wedding reception announcement party to Tong (oh the irony). Then he gets stabbed in the back by his mom!! oh I will spoil more, it's a good series tho - getting to the last 3 episodes  :twothumbs

BUT SHIT!!! that's the problem with HK dramas. Cousins be crushing on each other. FO REALS. Not like step-cousins, 2nd cousins. SHIT.

Funny scene tho, he's like shit cuz - you're like my lil sis. It's like they too cheap to hire love interests or smth. :bleed eyes:

It's a total Infernal Affairs rip off, everyones a fucking cop or wanting revenge. Like the main guys (this is a third in a series of this Police Cadet update)

Laughing Gor / Turning Point was an aight movie..if u wanted to know more about Laughing Gor forget about it XD

It's got so many side characters they had to develop.

lol @ the two gweilos trying to rob Laughing Gor
(http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/6396/vlcsnap70018.jpg)

Like Anthony Wong and Yuen Biao as undercover and police superintendent. Anthony Wong's character was so in over his head he became triad, and he wears more makeup than a fucking drag queen wtf. XD
(http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/620/vlcsnap95004.jpg)

Francis Ng as the "out of control" triad boss who has a soft spot for his sister "Don't date triad!!" His character was beyond EPIC, u could tell he was adlibbing. Like when he was like "Well EXCUSE ME MISSY!!!" and he did the  :jerk: gesture when he was arguing with Anthong Wong's mistress at the boss table.

Veteran actor Chan Hung Lit (陳鴻烈) recently passed away at age 66 (1943-2009). Before his sudden death, he was shooting for TVB sitcom "Off Pedder" when he suddenly got a heart attack falling into a coma. He was soon rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment and died at 7:11pm. His role in "Off Pedder" as Boss Yim (閆器) is the only representative work that Chan Hung Lit worked on until his very last breath.

TVB held a long service award ceremony last night, initially the group of veteran actors were very excited, but when they learned the news of Lit Gor's death, everyone felt unfortunate that they lost another good actor, a good colleague, the atmosphere turned dull.

Chan Hung Lit started working on "Off Pedder" in TVB City at 4pm, he and his son in the series Stephen Au were in the clothing room changing when he suddenly felt pain in his heart, Stephen quickly notified the Producer and called the ambulance. TVB's security personnel arrived at the scene first, Chan Hung Lit at the time had already fell into a coma and CPR was immediately performed on him. Soon, the ambulance came and sent him to the nearest hospital in Tseung Kwan O, for immediate emergency treatment. It was not until 7:11pm that his death was confirmed.

he was not only a supporting character of TVB series, he was also seen in many Shaw Bros (which formed TVB) movies back in the days, such as "One Armed Swordsman Against Nine Killers"

TVB AWARDS!!

Quote
Last night "TVB Anniversary Awards 2009" was held in Tseung Kwan O's TVB City. TV King & Queen both went to the hot favorites Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang from "Rosy Business". "Rosy Business" overshadowed "Beyond" as they were the big winners of the night sweeping away 6 award categories.

Although before the award ceremony, Sheren was rumored to not get along with TVB executive Virgina Lok making her favor Charmaine Sheh more, which would have made Sheren disappointed once again since 2004. However, last night when Sheren made her acceptance speech, she broke away from the rumors by thanking Ms. Lok as well.

Sheren Tang's acceptance speech

Sheren said: "Thank you to all my colleagues, I am really happy. Thank you TVB, Ping Wai, Stephen Chan, Virgina Lok. Thank you Mrs. Tsang for giving me such a great role for me to portray and for believing in me. Every time I attend award ceremonies, there are always many rumors. I want to say that TVB doesn't need me to sign a long contract and still give me good series to film, this is what I'm most pleased about. I thank all the friends, Netizens and all viewers for supporting me. Thank you Producer for not finding me annoying for always asking why, thank you Tim Gor for the good script, it's the first time he used me. I thank all of the scriptwriters!"

Sheren calmly talked about her feelings for winning the awards backstage, she said: "I am really happy, I got all the awards that I hoped to get. The series and Tim Gor both got awards also. Tonight female cast members all wore white, while the male cast wore black. We didn't plan this out before, it was such a coincidence. Thank God!" In response to Sheren becoming the new TV Queen, Netizens wrote online: "Long Live 4th Mistress!"

This series that is airing atm: The Four (Traditional Chinese: 少年四大名捕) The series has been adapted from a popular martial arts novel, The Four Great Constables, written by Wen Ruian. The novel tells the story about the four great constables: Heartless, Iron Fist, Chaser, and Cold Blood who work together to solve cases and attempt to bring down the corrupt Prime Minister of the Song Dynasty.

Also stars the sexy Kate Tsui. It seemed pretty boring, with lameass actors (The Four lol)

but SHIT! Gordon Liu was in it and as soon as I saw an episode, he had an epic battle but got murdered. his brain veins burst :/

The Beauty of the Game (美麗高解像)

Setting out on their quest for fame and fortune, three female TV stars of different backgrounds are resolved to achieve their dreams at any price. But after so many ups and downs in their acting careers, they finally come to discover the secret of true beauty.

Driven by sheer vanity, Ko Ching-man (Kate Tsui) takes part in a beauty pageant despite the strong opposition of her mother, a long-retired actress named Cheung Lai-hung (Kingdom Yuen), and leaps to stardom soon after winning the championship. Rising actress Cally Tong (Sharon Chan) feels threatened by Man and decides to join another TV station to look for a breakthrough, which is not supported by her production assistant friend Deacon Chong (Chris Lai). Leading actress Keung Chin-fung (Christine Ng) used to be a bitter rival of Hung. Realizing that Man's acting career is taking off at top speed, Fung means to approach her as a mentor, through which she hopes to drag the girl into her moral downfall bit by bit. Desperate for everlasting beauty, Fung injects herself with botox in an attempt to slow the aging process. But things do not really go as planned and her face starts to change in shape. Her advertising deal with a cosmetics company is subsequently canceled and Man has soon replaced her as the new product endorser. Even the Award of Best Actress, which she has won for years, is slipping out of her hands. To vent her anger, Fung seeks to extract revenge on Man, finally plunging her into a world of pain and trouble.

Sharon Chan, Kate Tsui, Jeanette Leung and the rest of the cast members to "The Beauty of the Game" attended "The Beauty of the Game: Dance of 2010" event in Olympian City. The purpose of the event was to encourage people not to get involved with drugs. Sharon and Jeanette clashed in outfits at the event, just that one is black and one is white. However, Sharon was not embarrassed about it.

Sharon frankly said that the clash in outfit was an accident: "So surprising, this is the first time I clash with someone, I never thought it would happen in such a casual event. But its natural that there will be lots of people buying pretty clothes, I felt that this shirt was very cute so I brought it. When Jeanette gets back, she better remember to tell her boyfriend to sponsor me! Her boyfriend is Japanese? A Hong Kong designer? I didn't know!"

Jeanette heard Sharon's comments at the side and started blushing in embarrassment. She denied that he was her boyfriend, but admits that he is currently looking for artists to sponsor clothing to.

At the event, Kate showed off her dance skills, partnering up with Stephen Huynh to becoming dance king and queen. Kate said: "The series got better feedback then expected, at first I was worried that the holidays would affect the ratings, but realized that viewers would still catch the episodes online. Actually the series is quite positive, it's telling everyone not to get involved with drugs, hoping that audience can understand the meaning behind the story." It was rumored that Christine Ng's vigorous slapping scene in the series is a reenactment of the scene where Liza Wang slaps Jamie Chik? Kate said: "I'm not sure, when I was filming the producer had told me about it. The scene has some true and false, we were to estimate our actions."

It was cuz his Gramps was deep rooted in the military. His characater "Big Wood" didn't harm anyone directly. Like his uncle, nice guy, he just freaked out and jumped out in the line of fire. His brother, they were just arguing and he slipped down a cliff, Big Wood even tried to grab him. Yet everyone was like FUCK YOU MAN!! You evil.

THEN THEY HAVE SEX.

Finished watching "My Better Half" (老公萬歲)  :D

A funny series...ending was a lil WTF. Great to see Michael Tse and Michael Miu in a buddy series after "E.U." triad power struggle. Never thought Miu could pull that shit off, and always awesome to see Maggie Cheung ("The Other Maggie") Hoi Yee as a butch, controlling wife, who always keeps her husband (Miu) on a tight leash.

Lots of weird shit like The Transvestite Pantyhose Perv giving advice to Maggie Cheung.

Hilarious break out of the A Better Tomorrow / "E.U." reference where Michael Miu does the Ti Lung line "I haven't been Big Brother in a looooooooong time!" and then Gigi and Michael Tse go into an argument and they bring up Laughing Gor

By the time they all make up, get hitched there's like 3 more episodes so they break into a....MOM'S GOT CANCER!! BABY MISCARRIAGE all in one fucking episode ridiculous.

Title: Re: [HK] The TVB Discussion Thread : Greed of Man (大時代) EPIC SERIES!!
Post by: daigong on June 17, 2010, 10:37:38 PM
Just finished watching this EPIC classic TV drama Greed of Man (大時代). 40 fucking episodes!! Mostly cuz it had Lau Ching Wan in it and features an evil turn by veteran actor Adam Cheng who is mostly known for heroic Wuxia characters, corny dads, and in real life - the dead beat dad to the late Lydia Sum's daughter.

Wild tidbit, it was directed by Wai Ka-Fai 韋家輝 aka Johnnie To's partner in crime at Milkyway / co-director on such hits as "Fulltime Killer" "Mad Detective" "Running on Karma" etc.

It takes place in the 70s where the Hong Kong Stock Market is founded after Fong Chun-sun (played by Damian Lau 劉松仁) is fed up with the arrogance and prejudice by the British against Chinese in the world of stock trading. Chun-sun becomes filthy rich.

He is also a man of righteousness and helps out people whenever, whereever. He happens to have a childhood buddy Ting Hai, who happens to be a stubborn thug, who is a judo expert and doesn't know his own strength
(http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9598/05es2p4.jpg)

Ting Hai has four sons, whom he leaves with a high school girl Ling as he goes to Macau to hunt down his ex-wife. Chun-sun sees the ghetto conditions they are in and takes her in. Ling comfesses that Ting Hai keeps her against her will, that she's scared shitless of him. Eventually, Chun-sun and Ling fall in love and Ting Hai is enraged and beats the shit out of him, leaving Chun-sun in a coma.

SHIT DON'T STOP. Chun-sun eventually awakens but is retarded. Ling has taken to caring for him and his 3 daughters and 1 son. They have lost everything and live in a small flat. Shades of Rain Man here as he tries to regain speech and mobility... in some of the most gripping acting ever, there's this scene where he mans up and gets a job. He tries as a newspaper sorter and can't get that shit right, he is fired and at the restaurant, he begs for his job back. "Give me on more chance, boss!"

His kids help him practice and he aces it!!! Pretty choking stuff. Chun-sun back on the road to living his life. Then one day Ting Hai visits him and one thing leads to another and Chun-sun is beaten to death by Ting Hai.

Flash forward to the 80s. Everyones grown up, the sons of Ting Hai are triads and corrupt doctors/lawyers as he escaped to Taiwan and was jailed. Ah Ling is a bus driver, raising the three daughters of Chun-sun while the son, Ah Bok played by Lau Ching-wan is somewhere under a bridge being a bum. He was sent to be an electician apprentice, cuz how is a woman supposed to raise a man by herself?!

Ah Bok then snaps outta his funk when he meets this crazy guy who happens to be his father's buddy. I WANNA BE A SUCCESS!!!
大時代_自己的世界 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQo0NlN-VeA#)

The 2nd daughter Ting Ting falls for the eldest son of Ting Hai, who happens to be a triad boss. Why do Good Girls fall for Bad Guys?

She was played by Loletta Lee (李麗珍, who went on to do a ton of Category III movies like Sex and Zen etc.) Ting Ting finally sees the light after Ting Hai returns to Hong Kong and in Cape Fear style, freaks her out. The eldest son flips out and brings the wrath of triad bullying, like pouring red paint all over, locking everyones doors and pouring gasoline etc.

shit man. THEN EVERYONE DIES!! Ting Hai was arrested for murdering Chun-sun. One of the hilarious jail scenes, Ah Bok and Ting Hai are locked up at the same time. WHY YOU STARING AT ME! STOP IT!

Ting Hai is found guilty. In revenge, the Ting Triad bring the pain.

The youngest daughter gets raped and gets STDs then jumps off a building!

His other two sisters and Bok are tossed from a building, but he manages to hold on.

Except the step-mother, Ah Ling played by Yammie Lam (藍潔瑛). She ends up going crazy and is admitted in a mental hospital after witnessing the whole scene and is arrested for attempted murder after she rammed her bus into the Ting Boyz mercedes.

Tidbit, in real life Yammie Lam went into mental problems after personal problems. She appears now and then walking aimlessly in the street, her tummy hanging. Chilling to watch now since her performance was one of the best.

Bok escapes to Taiwan to hideout cuz he's got a ransom on his head. But he does get time to get bizzy. In this sweet scene aww <3 the thrifty gorgeous girl next door decides to move and Ah Bok finds a bag full of paper airplanes that he threw when he was down and out.

In Taiwan, Ah Bok sharpens his craft for stock trading. Doing a ton of random jobs to make some money to buy stocks. Then failing, then making more money and doing it all over again.

Tons of veteran actors here, like Kenneth Tsang (seen in many John Woo movies) I guess they were building up the love relationship but FUUUCK enough. There was just too much screeching Amy Kwok (center)

He's so popular with the ladies, he ends up having 2 girlfriends. Who both risk their lives to deal with mob bosses in Taiwan just to get triad hitmen to let him start his stock market empire freely in Hong Kong.

He ends up going with Vivien Chow's character, basically cuz she has a heart condition and could die any moment. tidbit he ends up marrying Amy Kwok in real life.

I thought that was sweet he bought a ring everytime. FAST FORWARD AGAIN! Gulf War. The Tings have become billionaires through luck alone. Ah Bok returns to Hong Kong and tries to care for his step-mom Ling but Ting Hai gets in the way. Ling flips out and in Linda Hamilton style beats the shit outta Ting Hai but this undercover cop flies outta nowhere and she gets shot. Throw in some styro foam peanuts and you get the most dramatic scene of all time, set to Faye Wong music. Really heart gripping when Ah Bok beats up Ting Hai, and holds Ling in his arms as she admires her ring for the last time. "MY MOMMY IS DEAD!!"
大時代-最感人一幕-痕跡 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sS_Nv3Qhf8I#)

lol at Gordon Lam (林家栋) in a scrub role, as seen in "Ip Man" and many Johnnie To movies. Hell there's a ton of future major actors like Bowie Lam (seen in John Woo's The Killer, now a major TVB star) as a story reciting stock genius, illegitimate son of Chun-sun's stock rival / boss.

REVENGE IS HAD!! The ending is really swift, as The Tings expected cuz of the war, the stocks would fall. Instead, the Americans dispose of the Iraqis in seconds and the stocks zoooom up!! The Tings lose ALL THEIR FORTUNE. Everyone wants their head. So in Righteous Manliness, Ting Hai tells his sons "Let's Die in a Blaze of Glory!" and they all jump off the building but whaddya know, Ting Hai foot gets caught on some cable and he lives.

SEQUEL Y/Y (see Divine Retribution (世紀之戰) by ATV)

Ah Bok and his girlfriend live happily ever after...or do they???

Great series, some parts stretched a little long...but superb acting. Great motivational themes, like "I've went to the extreme rock bottom, this is where I rise above and become the best!!" Even with the ghetto budget of early 90s, you can see the cinematic genius that the director would bring to Hong Kong cinema to come. Like slow motion, camera angles, and hell, great character development.

TVB only wishes they could do shit like this again.

Here's the last episode, and more if you wanna watch:

HOLY SHIT finished watching that 60 episode epic "Price of Growing Up (生命之旅) Parts 1 & 2" (http://zh.wikipedia.org/zh/生命之旅) missed the beginning but the ending lmfao WOW.

Typical 80s over the top drama, with love triangles, squares, pentagons up the fucking ass.

Basically, it's the tale of two orphans Sum Jee Ho (Alex Man) and Doe Long Yeen (Francis Ng). Best of buddies, Ah Ho always looks out for Long Yeen. They get adopted by families from different class structures: Ah Ho to the lower middle class family while Long Yeen goes to a hugely rich family. They continue to grow up, being best of buddies. Long Yeen takes care of Ah Ho, who was working as a security guard, to come work at his father's firm but they get gold fingered "You just here cuz of your friend." - that typical office gossip. No matter what Ah Ho does, he just can't BUY A BREAK - people thumbing their nose at him because he doesn't have the education, the family class background - he is determined though to get by with hard work.

Lucky he is, to have good people around him. his mother and step-father (Ng Man Tat) are humble workers, she runs a clothing shop and Ah Ho helps out while Ng Man Tat drives a taxi. SURPRISE! His real father happens to be released from jail and he becomes a part of their extended family. At the clothing shop, there's this girl who Ah Ho treats like a sister who happen to be get impregnated by a shifty lowlife played by Stephen Chow. He instantly devotes his life to her and Ah Ho takes him under his wing, trying over and over to right him to the righteous path, as they work at the clothing shop together. Instant Brothers. See the pattern?

SO LUCKY Ah Ho is he courts this beautiful college graduate turned architect (played by Carol Dodo Cheng). They go through every kind of zany adventure together, even dropping their pants...for a robber.

But he just can't escape the fact she is making big bucks as an architect while he's just some lowly security guy. Doesn't help that her loud mouth mother keeps rubbing it in his face. WHO JUST SO HAPPENS is the wife of his Uncle Ng Man Tat who had been having an affair with Ah Ho's mother so basically they're like step-bro & sis?! Dontcha fucking love fucked up HK dramas? XD

Most of the first half of this series is about Love Struggles via Class Struggles. Francis Ng's character Long Yeen falls for Kathy Chow, a quiet violin playing accountant who happens to be working for his mom's orphanage charity society. Ah Ho and Dodo Cheng spend quality country club time with each other.

THEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.

Some botched robbery or (I missed this part lol) fraud leads Francis Ng's Long Yeen to blame Ah Ho and their friendship is strained forever. Long Yeen's father is like FUCK THIS GUY don't wanna see this scum again and fires him from the security job. Long Yeen's uncle (played by Kennth Tsang as seen in the A Better Tomorrow series) carries out the task but he is courted by a highly successful office woman of the hotel. WHO HAPPENS TO BE Stephen Chow's character's Ah Fei's mother who dumped him. Ah Fei's sister had also entered a beauty pageant much to the chagrin of Ah Fei's father. There's also Ah Ho's brother who dates Stephen Chow's sister. He resents is brother for whatever reason, even though he's the biological son. Ah Fei's sister is so starstruck, she ends up falling for Francis Ng (who happened to rape her when they were drunk) who happens to be the buddy of Ah Ho's brother. LOVETRIANGLATION!!

Meanwhile Ah Fei can't seem to impress his materialistic wife who ends up rather being a hostess than caring for their little son, leaving Stephen Chow flabbergasted ...WHAT THE FUCK DO I HAVE TO DO WOMAN as he is lead to schemes and the wrong side of town just to make a dollar out of fifteen cents until she eventually leaves him. Ah Ho steers Ah Fei to the righteous path of his new job of janitorial services.

The more Alex Man's Ah Ho works scrubbing toilets while Dodo Cheng architects it up with the Big Wigs, the more he feels less of a man. HOW CAN A MAN be second fiddle to a highly successful wife, THAT IS NOT A MAN. He is torn, and him and Ah Fei console each other.

ALL OF A SUDDEN

Dodo Cheng finds out she has cancer BUT DOESNT TELL NOBODY and duh fucking hiding it from everyone no one knows so no one can help so ends up breaking up with Ah Ho in really ugly fashion. Somehow Kenneth Tsang finds out and is there for her through doctor visits and shit. WELL FUCK Ah Ho woulda been there if she told him. Kathy Chow's character had felt sorry for Ah Ho while he was scrubbing toilets and getting dumped hard by Dodo that she falls for him. Francis Ng in sick revenge rapes her (in the janitorial office no less)!!

Meanwhile Long Yeen is so deep in debt that he deals with the mob. Having no choice but to fake a robbery of his own jewelry shop. Ah Ho's uncle (Ng Man Tat) gets shot  during the car chase. On trial, Long Yeen lets his father take the blame, which of course he has a heart attack. At his deathbed he asks for Ah Ho to reveal .....HE IS HIS FATHER!!

Well fuck, that changes everything. Suddenly Ah Ho be driving fancy cars and like all Alex Man shows, he SLICKS HIS HAIR when he be rolling in that greenbacks. Ah Ho marries Kathy Chow while Francis Ng is reduced to a minuscule role, at the request of his mother.

THEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE AGAIN.

Francis Ng still deep in the mob sends everyone to hell with his hair brained scheme of inserting counterfeit jewelry into his OWN FATHER's jewelry shop while Ah Ho's Brother fakes the books. Kenneth Tsang, now crippled in a wheelchair due to a swimming accident, had falsely suspected Dodo Cheng having affair behind his back wants to right things and tries to go undercover to find clues but gets killed in a big shootout - which also kills the mob boss. Ah Ho's brother runs for his life like a chicken shit. Kathy Chow gives birth to Ah Ho's son but gets thrown in front of a car by Long Yeen in jealous rage. Ah Ho's brother comes back to blackmail Long Yeen but he ain't having dat shit and shoots him in the back like a bitch would.

With nothing else to live for, Ah Ho calls upon some gangstas to help him get back at Long Yeen for fucking up their boss and a little help from Ah Fei's wife, who used to work in the club. They get enough evidence to fuck up Long Yeen for good. But STUPID PARENTS go and take the baby out for a walk and Long Yeen, like a raged animal kidnaps them. Makes them do a psychotic musical chairs. Ah Ho does his best GIMME BACK MY SON! and goes to confront him. Ah Fei is all like "Just call the cops man!" but Ah Ho goes mano a mano with Long Yeen, who of course ties him up. OUTTA NOWHERE Ah Fei comes flying out to tackle Long Yeen but he shoots him in the kneecap. What a loyal friend is he!! Eventually, the cops come in and Long Yeen ends up in a mental hospital:

Just like old times....

Long Yeen: "I forgot my shoes! Teacher is gonna punish me! C'mon lemme borrow your shoes."

They exchange shoes. Long Yeen runs back into the hospital, then turns around: "What are you going to do Ah Ho?"

After a long pause, holding back tears? Ah Ho responds: "Get punished to stand in the corner as usual."

"Ah Ho! LONG LIVE AH HO!!!" shouts Long Yeen as he happily prances.

Really, moving ending. With all the bodies dropping, and esp. all the evil his one time friend Long Yeen had did to him, to see him all crazy like that, it looks like he forgives and move on.

The obvious is that Dodo Cheng and Alex Man get back together, but he moves on. One cannot change the past nor relive it. Keep moving forward everyday, as he picks up his son into the sunlight.

TVB could take a few lessons from this. Overall, it's a good series - a little over the top and WTF TELL EM draws it out, Alex Man's Ah Ho is the typical goody two shoes. The funniest is where he goes to Stephen Chow, can I have a smoke "But you don't smoke Ho Gor!" *cough* (Alex Man is like the biggest chain smoker ever) xD But by far, Stephen Chow and Francis Ng show their acting chops in this. Stephen Chow's Ah Fei is not the stupid crazy mo lei tau you see in his movies, but the more serious family guy, who is SO loyal to everyone but just cannot fix the demons within himself. You want a friend like him, someone that takes the bullet for you. On the other hand, you have Francis Ng's Long Yeen go from buddy buddy to complete asshole rapist murderer. He hones his craft of psychotic evil in this series, not to the perfection you see in the 90s Triad movies he really shows how he started here. I give the series a 3.8 outta 5. :thumbup

new series starring the gorgeous Jessica Hsuan and sexy Kate Tsui.

The Beauty of the Game (美麗高解像)

IT's on Fairchild now. Kate Tsui is :fap she is this newly crowned beauty queen who gets in the business and experiences the tabloids and more. This one part, the rival veteran actress (whom she is at odds with) claims that the take is no good and they end up doing the scene 22 times. A BITCH SLAP SCENE LMFAO Kate is like THE FUCK BITCH ENUFF

Supposedly there's innuendos galore from Dodo Cheng "HK MJ" to Edison to Gillian Chung, Janice Vidal pot arrests in Japan, etc.

And oh, that's not Jessica Hsuan, but Christine Ng is pretty damn hot, love those evil bitches. Maybe that's why :tama: got my sprung

AND there's like a ton of old actors from the 80s that you go "SHIT! They still around" XD

OH SHIT! Actual TVB fans here. You gotta prove that you legit and not just randomly posting randomly, cuz I put intense hours in my recaps.  ;)

What's your favorite all time/current series? What's your favorite all time actor/actress and current? Favorite variety show? How'd you get introduced to TVB shows - like why'd you start watching? Favorite all time / recent theme song?

Me: Gotta be a toss up between Police Cadet and Greed of Man - and anything Stephen Chow was in. So deep the writers (they all became the Johnnie To's and Wong Kar Wai's of the HK Film Industry) - recently it's hard to choose. Maybe Street Fighter with Hacken Lee but that was like 10 years ago. I did like Dayo Wong's UNORTHODOX business guy in "You're Hired"

I like watching the odd Super Trio but it gets lame after a while. The travel and cook shows are better, esp. the ones talking about Hong Kong history - when FUCK Anthony Wong shows up and talks shit about cafes.

Theme songs, list goes on and on with George Lam classics. WHY I started watching. Moms got hooked, she kept on chasing dem pirated tapes and watching them all overnight cuz she had to return to her colleague, or my uncle. HARDCORE. There's some unique family stories and I usually watch modern comedy dramas than fucking boring law shit, or cop shit or smth.

Well I copped the first 5 episodes of Ghetto Justice off HK-MTV/AEU and it ain't that bad, although prolly really predictable usual story - former top notch lawyer goes to work for the PEOPLES and hey, he's a slob too! While Myolie is this fishball  girl getting a lawyer degree and trying move up the social ladder and is disugsted when she sees her former mentor as some nasty dude who...SPITS SEEDS INTO GARBAGE CAN!

of course, he has madness to his methods, SO UNORTHODOX!! :P pissing on a guy who was gonna sue them to prove that he was faking his injury AH HA! Genius.

lol apparently there's a buttcrack scene that is so controversial and its bringing in the ratings with the see lai

Then there's Myolie's colleagues and family who you figure are people TVB is trying to promote and failing hard, like her sister who looks like some ex-Miss Hong Kong pageant contestant and they like literally give her face time "Make sis talk on the phone" and STIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
(http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/8520/vlcsnap2011061103h04m58.jpg)

And Many Wong? Who the fuck? she's aight...

I'm more interested in seeing  what Sam Lee's character is all about.

HAD NO IDEA he was part of LMF, that explains why there's a hip hop soundtrack to the whole show.

Didn't know we had a TVB thread. Must say I haven't watched much local TV, probably only one or two TVB series this year. I'm already months behind on AKB and H!P stuff and 2 seasons behind jdramas.

But I was a TV freak when I grew up.
When I was like 4yo and we had one of those VCR recorders actually eject the tape from a platform that rose up the top, I turned a few minutes of the audio from Chow Yun Fat's The Smiling, Proud Wanderer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Smiling,_Proud_Wanderer_%281984_TV_series%29) to english babble. :D
Easy feat with 2 VCRs, but it's still a family mystery how I did it with only one.

A recent TVB series I did follow was 洪武三十二 (http://programme.tvb.com/drama/relicofanemissary).
I'm a sucker for Wuxia dramas. That and the mix of royal bureaucracy and Kate Tsui going all mysterious temptress made it really enjoyable.

SHIT THIS IS INTENSE!!! in a freak accident, Lau Ching Wan's Fit Low becomes a limp chick and Tony's Git Low is bent on guilt and redemption. Fit Low is like "Hey! Shoot yourself!" and he ditches his gf  (Carina Lau's character) because he can't live up to her standards.

Tony is so busy being a cop, he forgets about his gf Maggie Cheung. He ends up just wearing corny shirts.

In attempts to heal the relationship, they go to the beach but he ends up not saving this crackhead whore
(http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/9531/vlcsnap2011110501h31m56.jpg)

There's even a Francis Ng cameo before he was big. He's the geek cop in the hat, while everyone freaks out with a armed crazy cop, Tony goes in and talks him out of it.

I remember seeing bits of 85 and it just ain't the same even with the Star Power of Chow Yun-fat and Simon Yam. Many levels of character being torn apart at the seams. So if you want 1985 (aka 新扎师兄续集 (http://anonym.to/?http://ckrelease.com/?p=2577)) and 1988 (aka 新扎师兄 1988 (http://anonym.to/?http://ckrelease.com/?p=1319)) cop it here! I TOLD HER A REPLY!!

Look who's back
內地生意唔好 回港拍電影 躁狂萬梓良變頑童 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4g4yK2nbFo#ws)

Alex Man 萬梓良 (http://www.lovehkfilm.com/people/man_alex.htm) is willing to support TVB even with low salary

The film YUEN HUNG (REWARD) yesterday held a production start ceremony. Attending actors included Alex Man Chi Leung, Fiona Sit Hoi Kei, Wen Chao, Sire Ma Choi and producer Paco Wong. Man Chi who has not shown his face in a long time was excited as he took pictures with people all over and had plenty to say.

Man Chi said that he has not made a Hong Kong film in a long time. This time he was very happy to make this comedy and even made Chapman To Man Jat his disciple. This time Paco invited him to return to Hong Kong to perform and they did not discuss salary. Man Chi currently still has a clothing business in the Mainland. It has already overcome the tough times and did not close, but he believed its business would unlikely go higher. Would he return to TVB? Man Chi said that no one asked him. Reporters said that TVB salary was low and could not afford him. He joked, "This is a little closer to reality! (TVB only offers HK$10,000 per episode!) Ha? So much?" Man Chi said that he and TVB had a deep relationship and money would not be an issue. If he was asked to return home he definitely would. "Money isn't a problem, because I have it."

With all the smiling he seemed to be excessively active. Man Chi still laughed and said, "I don't know why, after 50 I seem to be a kid again. Many people are asking me to make movies and commercials." Why did he give people the impression that he was a maniac? He said, "That's what people said! (You wrote big character posters!) That's my thing, it didn't affect others." Was he more easy going than before? Man Chi said, "I have always been, only people framed me and gave me this title. I don't have a magazine that I can strike back with." During the Lunar New Year, he will visit Europe with his wife and son.

Sit Hoi Kei in the film played Man Chi's daughter. After this collaboration, she finally understood Man Chi was called "Drama King" and even made him her idol. Fiona also praised Man Chi was a very thoughtful elder. After working on this film, he gave every actor a commemorative card. Earlier Man Chi even reminded her to lower her head during photo opportunities because she did not look good when she extended her neck. Earlier she and Khalil Fong Datong went shopping for glasses. Fiona said that they happened to finish work together and shared the same ride, so they went shopping together. She stressed that she and Datong were just friends.

Paco Wong said that this year he will make several movies. His company will also produce concerts. Reportedly Edmond Leung Hong Man's friends raised 4 million to free him from Golden Typhoon; Paco Wong said that was not true, but as a friend he definitely would support him.

TVB newcomer Jenny Lau treated harshly by abusive Director
(http://i.imgbox.com/abfMwnqq.jpg)

TVB newcomer Jenny Lau 劉蔚萱 is currently shooting new series Heart Road GPS. A few days ago, Jenny was shooting a scene where debt collectors were after her, she had to get a plastic bag shoved over her head, get pushed into the wall and get threatened with frogs. Because she couldn't meet Director Cheung Wing Ho's expectations, she had to re-film the scene several times and Director Cheung was being very forceful while teaching her how to do the scene. Jenny was so frightened she instantly started crying hard. Because of this, Director Cheung was accused of being abusive. Since the incident was exposed, Jenny did not wish to comment too much and just kept it all in. Yesterday both Jenny and Director Cheung were called back to meet TVB executives Au Wai Lam and Catherine Tsang. They were each asked to explain the whole incident in detail.
