I was exchanging thoughts with Huggumwuggums and we both thought that Maasa was an often overlooked member of Berryz and H!P.  So this thread will attempt to redress the balance.  In our opinion, this could also be called the

Maasa is now already older than two of the members of 6th Gen were when they joined Momusu, and yet she seems to have slipped by under the radar as far as acknowledgement is concerned.

She is very statuesque, well proportioned and poised, and has a classic Japanese beauty in her facial features.  It seems likely that she will be the "one to watch" among Berryz in the next couple of years, notwithstanding the vivacious charms of Momo, Miyabi and Chinami, and the positive qualities of the others.  It will be wonderful to watch her grow to maturity and hopefully to see her also develop true star quality and enhance further her already-confident stage presence.

EDIT: Regarding the height, during Berryz's appearance on Music Fighter there was a sign that says she was 170cm so she's growing alright.

Whoo~ watched the Berryz concert last night, and Maasa did an awesome job! I LOVED the fact that whenever she had a solo, she had this HUGE grin on her face! It was adorable! She's definitely improved tons since the start of the group! I was really surprised by her hitting some falsetto notes in one of the songs... I don't remember which it was though! :( But yeah, definitely a good concert presence to have on stage!

Has anyone seen the Waracchaou yo BOYFRIEND performance? In my opinion. the outfits were downright ugly! It didn't flatter the girls at all but somehow, Maasa pulled it off :lol:

I do, but only if I happen to stumble on it on some uploader. It's too short for me too really enjoy anything, most of the times.

Maasa and Shiba-chan seem to be pretty close! Shiba-chan calls her Maasa. Not Sudou, Sudou-chan, Maasa-chan, but Maasa! They seem very comfortable with each other. I really like this ep. Too bad it's so short.

Whoa. The style Maasa had on for HPH REALLY fit her. I seriously REALLY REALLY thought it was adorable on her! Sometimes they put her into weird things that just make her look big and bulky, but this outfit really didn't~ :heart:

:heart: :heart: :heart: I loved her little spot on HPH. Actually, I am not that fluent on Japanese but I got to understand most of it. Maasa was incredible. I love her.

But I just want to point out that I sense that our baby gets a little bit nervous sometimes. Her perfomance was well, but nothing to say "OMG she was GREAT". If I could tell her something, is that she has to be like more genki when she sings, as she just stood up and sing. At least that was what I noticed about Maa. It was actually nice when she beat Shibata~san in that Kanji contest, Maa is intelligent & mild, and I like that character.

But she does have an incredible aura surrounding her. I definitely :heart: her. The only thing was her perfomance. Gosh, she must look astonishing in a mini-skirt and belly-showing shirt. Jesus!!!

Anyways, spread the Maasa love, please. Please.

I :heart: Maasa, but there's this problem:

I don't like her voice. At least when she sings.

But I love her way of dancing. It's awesome how well she dances and the way she focuses.

I get sad when she's not on the spotlight. But God knows what He does, so I'm totally OK with the idea she's not into it. It sound contradictory, but I like that balance.

Just to share with the community.
I can't stop listening to LOVE Namida Iro, since she sang it.

I love this pairing. I think Maasa is a great tsukkomi to Momo's boke. But last night show wasn't as fun as I'd expected. Prolly because I didn't understand most of it. :p

There should be one ep with Momo, Maasa and Chinami. That'd be fun.

It was the same Berryz show but instead of having half of the group hosting, they just had these two. And the girls called their show Sumomo LOVE. Momo called Maasa "Suu-chan" in this ep, too.

*In this one ep, Maasa and Chinami came up with nicks for some of them, using the first syllable of their name/family name. Maasa = Suu-chan, Chinami = Too-chan (like 'dad' lol), Momo = Moo-chan (Momo didn't like it coz it's like the sound a cow makes).

call me a freak, but what i personally like about Masa, is that she looks so different than the other Berryz - at least i feel it different; she's just a tiny bit shorter than Yuurina, but have you ever noticed her shoulders ??? or the somewhat unhealthy praise for her forehead (i like her forehead but i would really like to see her changing her hairstyle just once - just for a change); Masa is just too cute in her clumsy-like apperance (the impression perishes when you see her dancing - mmmmmm!)

I don't exactly know what it is I like about Maasa so much. I don't think that I would say it's because she stands out, because Yurina and Saki satnd out just as much because of how they look. For some reason, I get this feeling from her that whenever she smiles, she really seems happy, and is not just doing it for the camera. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

I missed this line that night.

What I like about Maasa? She's entertaining. Like I said before, she's a great tsukkomi to Momo's boke. And she isn't shy around her senpais or tv hosts. Did you see her with Shiba-chan on HPH? That was awesome. And if you go back to  Berryz on Utaban (1st single), Maasa and Momo were the only one who actually said something. Plus, she can be really pretty sometimes (see huggum's post above me).

For those who are interested, I was really moved by the way she draws in her posters. Her kanji and her writing stands out of all the other Berryz and you can see that she's a very organized person. I love that.

I was very curious about the meaning of Maasa's name, and actually... it has a very pretty meaning.

Maasa's kanji is this one ----> 茉麻

The first kanji [[ 茉 ]] stand for "ma", which means "jasmine".

The second kanji [[ 麻 ]] stand for "asa", which means "linen"; also flax and hemp.

So! Maasa's name means "jasmine & linen", "linen & jasmine", whatever you want to name it.

Ah... Maasa is another hope for Berryz. In the domino challenge, she did try to figure out the K. And in the candy challenge, she started by comparing the weight of the candy with a 1yen coin just like Momo. Ended up the same, too. Off by 1 candy. Other parts were cute too. She wa really lively during the Q&A. When she was wating for Kumaichou and counting the seconds ws pretty wtf, though. -_-

I wonder what did Momo do/say during the box game that made Risako and Miya laugh so much. :/

I think she's got a LONG way to go till she becomes captain. She's not really that vocal on the pitch during Little Gatas' match compared to how Mikitty is on the pitch with Gatas (well maybe that's because she's not the captain :P) but still, I can't see her being Gatas' captain anytime soon, unless I've been missing something...

Sorry to double-post, but I think Maasa is and should be the next Berryz up for her own PB!

Besides the obvious fact that she is beyond gorgeous, all the other more popular Berryz girls (Risako, Yurina, Miyabi & Momoko) got one, so she has to be next! She's literally next on the list in terms of popularity.

I was watching the Dance Shot version of Berryz's new PV and I just couldn't take my eyes of her  :wub:

I also realized that I'm screwed because I know I'll never get a girl that's remotely as gorgeous as she is (Well maybe not impossible, but I sure am gonna be one lucky guy if I do). She just has this unique personality and physical beauty that's just....well, unique :lol:

Random, I had a dream last night including the Berryz, where I saw all of them, but only interacted with Maasa.

She was speaking really strained English to me, asking me if I was the one who wrote some sort of text message, probably a chain. XD

I thought I had offended her somehow, but in the end she just did that grin she does and walked away.  I think I followed her to Kuma(sitting on the edge of some freakishly high canyon, canyon depth = correlation of her height? XD), and soon after that, watched all of them walk away into some sort of Disney-ish hotel. If you've ever been to Disney world, it resembled the Animal Kingdom Lodge...

judging from her sales in the H!P shops she actually has a decent amount of japanese fans(a month recentlyish she was the top seller of BK!) it just seems she's lacking in western fans...no idea why though.

Yeah, people have noticed at H!O too, someone posted a blog and it was sort of a side note.  Most of the pictures i've seen though were low resolution, but it's easy to see if you compare close enough

Toru Honda's popular light novel series "Light Novel no Tanoshii Kakikata" is being turned into a live-action film next year, with Maasa Sudo (17) of Berryz Koubou playing the heroine role.

Published by GA Bunko, the novel series is a romantic comedy about a male high school student named Yakumo Atae, who knows that his classmate Tsurugi Yabusame is secretly a light novel author.

Sudo will play the part of Tsurugi. The rest of the cast, including the protagonist Yakumo, will be announced in the near future.

It was awesome seeing her in person last month; I still remember her waving back to us at the airport like it was yesterday. It's also great that she seems to have gotten her weight issues under control lately...though packing some extra pounds isn't necessarily a bad thing, because she still looked good last year.

You know, when I first got word that Maasa trimmed her bangs last month I was prepared to come back in here with that infamous Darth Vader "Nooooo!" image, but it seems that it isn't as bad as I thought it would be...she still seems to be wearing them similar to how she did a few years ago before she grew them out. Plus looking at how hot she still looks in the Cat's Eye 7 videos, I can't complain:
