AKB48's latest original album 'Tsugi no Ashiato' (went on sale on January 22) sold 962,000 copies in the first week, topping Oricon's weekly ranking.



This is the first time in 5 years and 2 months for an album to sell over 900,000 copies during the first week since EXILE's best-of album "EXILE BALLAD BEST" accomplished it by selling 944,000 copies.



Also, this album allowed AKB48 to become the 2nd female group to sell their album over 900,000 copies in the first week as it has been achieved only by SPEED with their album "RISE" (sold 1,318,000 copies in the first week) back in 1998.


"Tsugi no Ashiato" is the group's 3rd consecutive chart-topping album (4th in total) followed by "Koko ni Ita Koto" (released in June 2011) and "1830m" (released in August 2011), but this marked their best first week sales album.

Tsugi no Ashiato has surpassed 1 million sales as of Day 16, selling 1351 copies more. It took 1830m 33 days to break the million mark. 1830m has sold 1.051 million copies to date.

The total sales number of AKB48's 5th album "Tsugi no Ashiato" (went on sale on January 22) reached 1,001,000 copies when including the sales --1,351 copies-- from February 6.

This marked their 2nd consecutive million-selling album.

They achieved it 16 days after the album went on sale, and it is the fastest record for the group's history (for albums), as their previous album "1830m" reached a million copies 33 days later from the release day.

This is the first time in 6 years and 8 months for a female artist to have 2 consecutive million-selling albums, since it was last accomplished by Koda Kumi in 2007, and for a female group, it is the first time in over 15 years.

Takahashi Minami made a comment, "We are very happy, and grateful to you fans that we were able to reach a million copies. Thank you very much. All of us members realize how we need to continue trying our best in order for us to respond your support."

"Tsugi no Ashiato" contains the group's 7 previous singles, as well as many new songs. During the first week, it sold 962,000 copies which was the best record for the group.

* “2shot with a member” means one photo (not movie) with a member, taken by a smartphone with camera function
* the 2shot of you and member will be taken by the staff
* there are no retakes unless the photo is really messed up (blurred etc)
* we are not responsible for your camera breaking down and there are no retakes should your phone malfunction

1. hs/2shot tickets and ID will be verified
2. hand your tickets to the staff upon entering the booth (please have your camera ready to go by now so all staff needs to do is press a button).  2shots are usually in portrait so please let them know if you want it in landscape.
3. hand your camera to the staff and show them the shutter button (all photos are standing unless you are in a wheelchair)
4. please put your belongings on the table, shake hands with member then take photo.  stand in the assigned position.  the only time you may touch a member’s fingertips is if you are doing the heart shape.  please do not stand outside the pink sheet.  no kneeling/crouching poses are allowed.  even female fans are not allowed to touch members.  please do not force members to do certain poses/faces.  in addition if we see something we deem inappropriate we will also stop you.
5. camera will be returned to you in the state right after pressing shutter.  please make sure everything is correct.
