We already talked about this, but I though a separate thread could be useful.

What: The biggest festival of Japanese culture and entertainment in France and Europe blows its 10 candles this year. For the occasion, Japan Expo is cooking you a program full of surprises and animations! Enjoy!

Where: Parc d'Exposition, Paris-Nord Villepinte, France.

When: 07-02 - 07-05, with AKB48 performing on the 3rd and 4th.

Quote
In the morning, it's a first in, first served system.
You just show up at the signing room, and wait in line for your turn to get your stuff signed.
(some events may need a special ticket, available for free at the info booth, but probably in limited quantities).

In the evening, it's a lottery system.
You must go to the info booth and ask for a chance to get your stuff signed.
They will mark your entry ticket, so you can only ask once a day (for each available guests).
Then, you have to pick a piece of paper hidden inside a box. The piece of papers are marked "WIN" or "LOST".
If you picked a winning paper, you will then receive a special ticket that will let you attend the signing event.

Other musical acts at the Expo:

- Vistlip (2nd)
- Mosaic.wav (2nd)
- Zamza N'Banshee (2nd)

- RA:IN (3rd)
- Trill-Dan (3rd)

- Yui Makino (4th)

It would be cooler if the FC tour members attended instead of just Team A, IMO. Team A's one of the most boring teams right now, recently bombed with graduations and such. :P

A small part of me wishes I could go, but I'm more than content seeing Morning Musume instead. Hope everyone that goes has fun!

Make us proud!!

^The cool thing is, the expo is at the same time as the Morning Musume in LA event  XD. JPH!P fans all over the world enjoying their favorite acts at the same time  :twothumbs

Ok, couple of updates.

Oota Aika removed from the FC Tour members list.  :(

and news posted by Hiro @ S48:

Quote
my friend contacted the travel agency and ;
1. girls at http://ad.hankyu-travel.com/akb48/#menber (http://ad.hankyu-travel.com/akb48/#menber) will be performing at the expo
2. they were notified that there will be some more member changes
3. only 16 reservations so far (require minimum of 50 people)
4. deadline is may 29th.

Which makes me wonder, what if they don't get the minimum of 50 members?!

So for now, it appears these girl will perform at the Expo:

If it turns it it really will be like this I will be super bumped about not seeing Haruna and Acchan.. (and to a lesser extent Fujie, Myao, Takamina, Tomomi and Mariko  ..damn that's many.). The list needs at least one more big name (COUGH Oshima Yuko COUGH). Aw well, Kasai and Sayaka  plus it'll be fun to see Meetan . And Matsui Rena en Kumi are my favs from SKE, so it could be worse. Finally, I want YUKIRIN!!

WTF happened to all the front girls? Looks like they have better things to do than travelling to an event that prolly will be filled with weird weaboos and cosplay geeks from strange european countries they never heared of. XD

Had this been 2006 or so I would have been super excited for that line-up. Though as my AKB fandom turned casual, I stopped caring about the B-list members because.. well, you never see them. XD Still, the line-up isn't too bad. You still got Sayaka and Mocchi from K who are cool. The only one that jumps at me as awesome is Rino, and that's just personal preference. XD Still, some AKB is better than no AKB.

I hope Morning Musume's autograph sessions are a bit more organized than a stinky lottery though. X_X

Woo, lol human flag :D
Looks like I might have to book a hotel room all to my lonesome :o
First time ever travelling out alone, be nice T__T

I was getting all used to the idea of it being Team A but it doesn't really make sense with takashi and co doing the 'we're coming' video look all excited(Japanese have super high expectations of paris generally...there's a syndrome named specifically for the shock of paris not being what they expected even) and then not to be the ones coming :o

That said, SAYAKA!!!!!!!!!!!! <333

I'm going, because it's so cheap to go and I've always wanted to visit Paris, haha.  For me the lineup really doesn't matter since I've not been all that interested since Hana graduated, but I'd happily just watch a few performances (here's hoping they do SeiBetsu). The friend I'm going with's favourite girl, Nontii, is in the new line up, so that's pretty special.  I have to admit though, EXPO wise:

Quote
to an event that prolly will be filled with weird weaboos and cosplay geeks

I'm much more excited to see them.  It'll be HILARIOUS.

Cool to see here Kyobu, I didn't realize you are a member here as well! Thanks for the annual Hana update  :)

Title: Re: JPH!P X AKB48 @ Paris Japan Expo 2009
Post by: SomethingWild on May 24, 2009, 10:32:03 AM
^EriUK?

New update: this is starting to look like a soap opera, but Haruna, Acchan and Mariko are on their way to France right now for Japan Expo press interviews and stuff   :w00t:

http://ameblo.jp/atsuko-maeda/entry-10266968269.html (http://ameblo.jp/atsuko-maeda/entry-10266968269.html)

Which means it's likely that we DO get a FULL TEAM A performing at the Expo!

The other list of members is for the FC Tour, (which probably won't happen anyway because they can't get 50 people..) and has nothing to do with the actual performance and the expo for the regular folks.

Still.. not 100% sure.. things change every day  :P

Post by: Blu-Cherri on May 25, 2009, 06:23:28 PM
that means there's a good chance of them performing the current stage! :D
I'll have to get listening to it a bit more then ^_____^

^don't bother.. the Expo site has been updated:

Quote

Japan Expo is delighted to welcome a "Special Team" composed of several girls, from the 3 teams of the group. They are ready to set the stage on fire! So let you seduce by their sweet tunes and communicative energy on the stage of the J.E. Live House!

So that FC members list is probably what they're referring to. Incidentally, today is also the deadline for the FC members and I doubt they have 50 participating members..

Guess we'll have to wait until they're standing in front of us to see who will be there

NICE NICE...it's still about a month, y'all have JPHIP Regulation T-Shirts?

lol but man, looks fishy when none of the "bigger" names show up, tho Ange is prolly jizzing her pants @ Sayaka :P

Yo Barrie, holla at me via PM or on IRC this weekend (since u and Blu seem to be the certain ones there) so we can think of some proper JPHIP PIMPAGE!!!

ALWAYS LOVE A JPH!P WORLD TOUR!! Still always cool when HiPstaz meet up. Here's to more Paris getting together :jphip:

^lol I'm still not booked yet, starting to think I might just book myself instead of waiting to book with friends.  I think maybe we should have a sign...I dunno what I plan on wearing yet but when I'm not wearing the tee I might turn it into a sign or something.

I think the special team will have mariko, takashi and haruna since they've been the ones promoting it...it just doesn't really make sense otherwise.
Eee~ with it being this 'team' it means I'll get to see team K girls *___*

Two new musical acts are announced:
05-02: Mosaic.wav
05-05: Kanon Wakeshima

Based on the previous years there is one more act to be announced.

Gotta admit I don't know her. However, I checked out some vids on YT and I seriously dig it. A cello always gives up such a cool vibe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4rJLmYxJlA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4rJLmYxJlA)

This music is screaming for metal guitars though  :) I'll try to add some later once I got my gear set up again  :P

It's amazing how many times they have disappointed us so far.. first with the ever chancing member line-up.. and now this! :/ Let's hope it'll all be worth it and we get to see two awesome shows at the expo.

Another act has been confirmed: Vistlip will perform on the 2nd.

Well.. more news on which AKB members are coming to Paris.. or better, who are NOT coming. They made a supporters team for baseball, which will be at Tokyo Dome on July 1st and 2nd.

Members for the BASEBALL team / NOT the Paris team:
Itano Tomomi
Oshima Yuko
Ono Erena
Kashiwagi Yuki
Kojima Haruna
Shinoda Mariko
Takahashi Minami
Maeda Atsuko
Matsui Jurina
Matsui Rena
Miyazaki Miho
Miyazawa Sae

Pretty much all the big names from team A  :( and Kashiwagi and Korisu

Matsui Rena is listed in both teams, so I doubt we get to see her in Paris.

There is some good news!

Puffy AmiYumi will give a free concert on the stage of the J.E. Live House on Saturday 4th July then exceptional signing sessions at 5:30pm!

With any bad luck the signing session is during the AKB48 show

The time schedule has been announced!!

02/07
14h20 - 15h05 : school food punishment
15h45 - 16h30 : Zamza N'Banshee
16h50 - 17h35 : Vistlip
17h55 - 18h25 : MOZAIC.WAV

03/07
13h20 - 14h20 : AKB48
14h40 - 15h25 : Trill-Dan
16h05 - 16h50 : GARI
17h10 - 17h55 : Ra:IN

04/07
12h30 - 13h00 : Yui Makino
14h40 - 15h40 : Puffy
16h20 - 17h20 : AKB48
17h40 - 18h25 : school food punishment

05/07
13h20 - 14h05 : Suns Owl
14h25 - 15h10 : AOI
15h50 - 16h35 : Asuka
17h00 - 17h30 : Kanon Wakeshima

So we get 2x one hour of show. Could be worse, could be better  :P

I'm actually very happy with the time slots. AKB48 is the first band on the 3rd, so I won't have to be nervous the entire day. The second day I can see Puffy and AKB48 in a row.. couldn't be better!

I'll have to skip Kanon though.. too late and too short.

Actually I'd be more interested in seeing this than AKB:

14h20 - 15h05 : school food punishment
 17h40 - 18h25 : school food punishment

Sounds ... interesting

hmm looks like I can go see AKB48 and then dash off to the tea party that will probably be happening at 3pm(apparently that's a good guess of the time)
:D
I'll probably stay for all of saturday, looks pretty fun :)

Ah but my outfit might need changing after seeing them live...ah what to do >___<
Title: Re: JPH!P X AKB48 @ Paris Japan Expo 2009
Post by: SomethingWild on June 14, 2009, 07:47:11 PM
^you'll be surrounded by 100s of smelly sweaty wota   so it's ok if you do not change your outfit  :)

I'm bored so I made a ranking of the participating members. It'll be interesting to see if it'll change after Paris.

A class (who I'm really exited about seeing)
Mocchi
Kasai
Sayaka
Moeno
Matsui R. (in an MC for S2 she talked about practicing France for the trip, i.e. she is coming!)
Kumi

B class (who are cool or interesting to see IRL)
Noro
Sasshi
Amina
Urano
Meetan

C class (I know them, but have no strong feeling towards them)
Minegihi
Kitahara
Kana

X class (I have now idea who they are.. prove yourselves!)
The rest of them

hmm.. making this list I realize there are only 4-6 top favorites, which is probably less we had a full team A. Aw well, still good! This anticipation is part of the overall experience as well

edit:

Based on the participating members, I think it's plausible to have one of these B3 songs in the setlist:
- Kagami no Naka no Jeanne d'Arc
- Junjou Shugi

An hour isn't that much. If they play the classics (Aitakatta, Skirt Hirari, Sakura) and the new songs (OD, 10nen en NS) then there isn't much room for stage songs. With Meetan and Kasai in Paris they could perform 'Oshibe to Meshibe to Yoru no Chouchou'  :w00t:

Whatever they'll do, it'll be one epic shuffle show. I just hope I won't have to sit through 3 minutes of Amai Kokansetsu..

^I love 'Kagami no Naka no Jeanne d'Arc' lol the name makes me think it'd be good for paris :D

Yeah it's likely they'll be more going for classics really.  I kinda hope each day has differences in setlist but I guess that's unlikely >_<  >_>

I was so gutted when I found out it wouldn't be Team A; I'd been learning all the members for the occasion!  Grrrr!  At least Miichan will be there though.  She's epic-ly cute.

I wish I knew more of you guys through your posts for when I arrive, but I'll look for the JPHP tees haha.  If a strange Brit chick with red hair starts talking to you, it's me, there's only a small need to worry  ;)

^Welcome to JPH!P! Still 2 weeks to get to know us  :P

Don't feel too bad about not getting Team A at the Expo. The members who are coming have some great talent and are generally under appreciated.

British huh? That's great, I need to practice my English skills.  XD

edit: France is lowering taxes on food starting July. Excellent timing!

I'll only be wearing my tee for one day (it'll get all icky from the concert lol) not sure whether to wear it for the friday or the saturday...maybe the saturday...

^omg food prices were one of my big price worries :o this is brilliant :D
I'll still bring the same amount of money, I'll just spend it at the expo instead ^__^

Before going do people want to arrange meetings at all? I'll be mostly shopping on thursday so you'll probably see me walking around.  I'll try and decide what to wear before I go so you'll know what to look for.
It's likely to be lolita but there will be a lot of us on thursday, it's the best shopping day of course >__>

Also what's your language then? Your english seems really good on here.

Great isn't it  XD I also heard that the prices on DVDs and stuff are generally somewhat cheaper than in the actual stores . I hope so!

I think a meeting will happen naturally. We don't really know what the Expo looks like and stuff, so it might be difficult to arrange something. The Stage48 members will have 'I love 48' shirts. I'll say hello to them before the first AKB48 show, so it's likely I can be spotted more easily at that time, haha.

I don't have a JPH!P shirt (shame on me!), so I decided I'll wear this every little thing t-shirt on Friday:

On Thursday I'll be hanging around in Paris, checking out the landmarks.. again  We're leaving 5:30 AM on the 2nd, we'll be in Paris @ 10.30 AM, at our hotel at 11:15ish and then we still have a full day of sight seeing ahead!

edit: France is lowering taxes on food starting July. Excellent timing!
don't expect too much lol

better bring your own food ^^ (e.g. buy sandwichs before)
also, try to bring enough money, don't count much on credit card (I remember there was a LOT of people waiting @ cash point and it was seriously a loss of time).
Can't remember about prices, I bought only an artbook and it was the same price as the official site... but at least I saw the drawer lol

and it's a pretty big place

feel free to contact me if you got prob or question :) ( unfortunetly I won't be there T.T )

^Cool guitar skills!
I can't even go to my hotel first, my friends are arriving much later so I'll be the one with a suitcase on thursday xD

^I don't even have a credit card xD aah so young I am.
Do they have a bag drop at all? Also is thursday generally busy?
oh and have you been to the music stuff? Are you able to arrive and leave at random times or is it pretty set?

a bag drop ? don't know :/

I think the biggest day is saturday
but the summer holidays begin on the 2nd july so...

oh and have you been to the music stuff? Are you able to arrive and leave at random times or is it pretty set?
you mean the live place ?
the live we saw was anna tsuchiya and it took place inside the "Parc des expo" itself (same hall)
so you can wait near the scene 5hr before the concert if you want to be in front of everyone xD
first come first served !

^That sounds cool, but it says it's in the 'JE live house' or something like that...

But I would love to be at the front for the friday gig especiaily(since akb48 are on first I won't have to fight for too long to hold my position.

Unfortunately, the J.E. Live House is not clearly shown on their map... but I guess you won't be able to miss its location when you'll be there...  :)

Too bad you can't make it Shi! Thanks for the advice.

FYI, the complete schedules have been posted up on the expo site:
http://www.japan-expo.com/art-241-en-schedule.html (http://www.japan-expo.com/art-241-en-schedule.html)

Start planning!

I'm amazed.. so much stuff to do and see.

My Saturday is already completely packed with just a couple of concerts. I'm thinking about skipping AKB48's conference and signing sessions to see more of the actual expo....  but then again.. they are the reason I'm coming in the first place haha.

ok thursday is definitely my 'explore' day, lol.(maybe seeing masaic.wav)
Friday is my 'get to the front for akb48' day, I don't really mind about missing anything.  I'll let the rest of the day just flow though I would like to go to a signing session....do the autographs cost money???
Saturday is the fashion show and akb48 and maybe puffy ami yumi.
Sunday is stuff and kanon

Might check out some of the parapara stuff but I'll probably just follow my friends when i'm not akb48-ing.

beside akb, plz, if any of you see Kanon, could you take a pic for me T.T ?
damn' and I like puffy too

Well I'm not going.
But an order from CD Japan just arrived today and I was surprised to read that CD Japan will have a booth at the Expo and was surprised to find a gift voucher for their booth in the package as well. It doesn't say what the gift is however.
Too bad I'm not going but I'm not AKB fan enough to spend that much on train/flight+hotel even though France is supposed to be 'close' and therefore 'cheap' to go to :-X.

The main worry about the autographs is getting in: lottery tickets system :-\

I won't be able to see Kanon on Sunday, but I read she'll also be at the Harajuku fashion show on Saturday. I'll try to snap some cool pics if I see her then.

Puffy is definitely on my must see list. Just got their latest album! Hoping to get near the front of the stage as well, because AKB is playing after them. Win-win.

Too bad you're not coming. Yeah, it's still not that 'cheap' indeed. For me it is worth it, especially since I haven't been anywhere since like 4 years. Can I have the gift voucher? I'll pay shipping!  :P

Yeah~ maybe I would have considered going if I didn't went to Stockholm for nothing already :bleed eyes:  Japan Expo sounds much more fun than Stockholm sightseeing..
I guess I should send the voucher to someone who is going. Only the first 50 customers each day are getting the gift though, says the info letter. So you probably have to be fast depending on how many voucher-possessing people are going.
Are you still interested?

Because I have the Thursday and Sunday(apart from Kanon for 30mins) to look around I'm not so worried about having to wait around for the autographs.
I've just got to listen out for any news on lolita tea parties, they're usually friday/saturday 3pmish time, which could clash @_@ :(

Some info on the AKB48 shop has been posted: http://www.japan-expo.com/art-533-en-akb48.html (http://www.japan-expo.com/art-533-en-akb48.html)

I hope they'll have more stuff than this. I think they will..

Good news is that they offer some items which aren't available at most places, such as the JCB Hall, NHK Hall and NatsuMatsuri concerts. Still pretty pricey @ 60 euro a piece. Not sure if I'm willing to spend that much on a dvd.. However, it's still cheaper then going through a deputy service and paying all sorts of commissions and shipping.

I was hoping they'd sell S1 and I could get Kuumin to sign it.. and/or K3 and get Kasai/Sayaka/Mocchi to sign it  :P

It looks to me like it's the JCB Hall Concert DVD (2008-12-20).

They probably could have given it a better name on there than "SKE".

Correct, that is the regular edition of the JCB Hall concert 2008. (meaning 2-disc, with 20 minutes making of feature).

The subtitle of the concert is 'SKE mo yoroshiku ne~." The actual title is something like "new year thanksgiving party, with shuffled AKB48." Not sure why the titles on the expo sites are messy like that.

This is definitely my favorite AKB48 concert, but I'm not paying 60 euros for it. That's just insane.

Today was the showcase performance.

Three girls showed up: Kitahara, Moeno en Sasshi

Setlist:
- Tsundere!
- Heart Gata Virus
- Kuroi Tenshi

A bunch of A5 songs.. they should've done B3 songs to make a real impact  :P

Man.. this would've been THE opportunity to talk to Moeno a bit.. well.. my time will come  :P

I'm going tomorrow 4th July (Saturday). I'm not a fan of AKB48 since I barely know them, but I watched their Namida Surprise! PV recently! The song is not too bad and I was impressed by the number of girls! So many and so cute! I hope I'll be able to take a few good pictures of them.

That was only a in-store performance at a FNAC shop, no way they can fit a whole stage in there to have a full group 'on stage' :)

First concert seems to have been a blast judging by the videos posted as S48 and nihongogo. :cow:

I went to the Japan Expo today and I'm exhausted. My feet hurt so bad, I had to stand in a crowded train for over an hour, the guy next to me did obviously not take his shower and it was too hot in the exhibition hall, yet it was an awesome day!

AKB48 gave a conference, which was basically only a questions and answers session. Only 6 girls showed up but it was pretty interesting. I can't remember their names, therefore I attached a picture of the conference.

Then I went to the Puffy AmiYumi concert, it was much better than I expected! And right after that was the AKB48 concert. I'm not so much into their music, but it was not that bad. There were about 16 girls and unfortunately I was too far away from the stage, I could barely see what was going on... :(  After a while they began talking... in French (only a few phrases though)! And each girl introduced herself in French too! It sounds so cute when then speak French! There were lots of pervs fans, much more than at the Puffy concert.

Besides the concerts, there was a lot to see. It was really much better than last year and there were lots of cute girls among the visitors! :) I'm looking forward to the next Japan Expo!

I guess not. I didn't know they were performing at a FNAC shop and I don't see the point. They usually don't sell Japanese music... Now in seems AKB48's albums are available at FNAC, at least in their online shop. But, 36 euros for an album?! That's crazy!!!

Just got back from paris!

AKB48 = EPIC!!!!

Seriously, it was like nothing I've ever seen before.. Seeing them live is so much different then watching a DVD. I will write an extensive review, expect it within one or two days!!

quick preview pics:
Sayaka during the Conference:

(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7836/dsc08349v.th.jpg) (http://img190.imageshack.us/i/dsc08349v.jpg/)

KUUMIN!!!!! I yelled her name and she looked and waved. My friend snapped the picture. Kuumin and Tsukina are very pretty, it's a shame they couldn't perform.

(http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/2808/dsc08311t.th.jpg) (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/dsc08311t.jpg/)

A proper review will appear within a day or two!

Matsui impressed me the most, followed by Sasshi, Moeno and Kasai. Other girls didn't impress me at all, like Kana and Cindy for example. Some girl who I didn't know that well like Amina and Kohara turned out to be pretty cool as well.

I got back from Paris yesterday and I will echo the sentiments that:
AKB48 = EPIC

My ONLY complaints were the ticket system for autographs and the extended wait on Friday for the concert.  My mate and I were waiting from 10:15 for the doors to open!  We got right to the front, surrounded by the Japanese wota, so the wait was TOTALLY worth it.  I will probably not write an EXTENSIVE review on it, but I may post something a bit more than this.

I welled up at the concert on day 2, the first concert struck me too hard to get emotional, but on the second day, I realised that I was FINALLY "there."  More to come...

Part 1 of my Recap:

02 July 2009

My friend and I left our homes in Holland at 5:30 AM and we arrived at our hotel at 12:00. On our way we already spotted many cosplayers and we could feel the event was going to be great. Our hotel was located at around 2 kilometers from the Expo. We spend the day in France as regular tourist. I don’t think there’s any interest for this part of our trip so I’ll keep it short. We visited the Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, The Louvre, Place de la Concorde seeing the Arc du Triomphe in the distance. Paris is really beautiful. This was my second time visiting these places and they impressed me even more than the first time. I didn’t like the weather, sun and massive heat.

(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/1395/dsc08023d.th.jpg) (http://img200.imageshack.us/i/dsc08023d.jpg/)
(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/6411/dsc08038.th.jpg) (http://img200.imageshack.us/i/dsc08038.jpg/)

03 July 2009

The doors of the Expo open at 10 AM. We expected quite a crowd, but we didn’t want to arrive too early. The arrived at 9:15 AM and the place was pretty packed already. I met Albus from S48 in the line.

(http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5347/dsc08130e.th.jpg) (http://img13.imageshack.us/i/dsc08130e.jpg/)

When we were in we rushed to the CD-Japan stand, because the first 50 people with a gift voucher got a gift. Many thanks to Nachdenki for giving me the voucher. The gift turned out to be a small wooden uchiwa, which came in very handy because it was HOT. The guy from CD-Japan was very nervous. He wanted to thank me and shake my hand, but he kept hesitating and he gave me his left hand :D.
We browsed the stands and some cute Japanese girl hinted at me to come to her. She gave me a flyer and the girl turned out to be Yu-ki from a duo called “Yelly Beans.” We had quite an funny conversation, my Japanese lessons paid off!  I left without actually buying something, which I kinda regret at the moment. She had some sexy photo cards, haha. At the time, I did not know what to expect from the Expo and I was holding out buying stuff for potential AKB48 related goodies. When I came back to the stand again later that day she was gone :(.
The moment of truth was about to arrive in a couple of hours. On one hand we wanted to see the expo, but we decided to camp in front of the live house for two hours to be as close to the front as possible for AKB48. While we’re waiting, all of a sudden some girls walked by. Kuumin, Tsukina and a couple of Research Students! Man, they are extremely pretty in real life. When the doors finally opened we ran towards the next area were we had to zig-zag between gates. It was exhausting and it was like 40 degrees outside.

(http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/711/dsc08156d.th.jpg) (http://img13.imageshack.us/i/dsc08156d.jpg/)

We were now 10th in line! We were filmed by various press because we and the people in front of us kept yelling A~ K~ B~ 48!!! And parts from Aitakatta. We were told that the concert started late and we had to wait some more. Finally we entered the actual life house where the 50 wota from the FC were already standing at the front. No big problem, I’m taller than them and I was standing 2nd row!
[note: the photo’s I’ve added are actually from the second concert] We could hear them doing the AKB48 yell and not that much later it began! “A live like you’ve never seen before” as it says in the into turned out to be true. They started with Aitakatta and they ran on the stage. I did not know where to look. OMG KASAI, OMG SAYAKA, OMG MOENO, etc. They we’re so close, right in front of me I couldn’t belief it.

(http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/231/dsc08321.th.jpg) (http://img164.imageshack.us/i/dsc08321.jpg/)

They went straight on into 10nen Sakura, I sang and yelled as loud as I could. Namida Surprise was next. I really dug it, even the parts I didn’t really like on the single were very catchy. Around here Sayaka seemed to have a costume problems and some Sayaka thigh was exposed :P Meetan got caught on one of her accessories, but she quickly fixed it.
Next was the MC with member introduction. EPIC! They tried to speak French a lot, which lead to many funny moments. One girl, I don’t remember who it was anymore, said “Je m’apelle (my name is) … *looked at her hand* … *says her name* haha. Some of their voices are extremely high pitched. Especially, Amina’s and Kohara’s which is very cute. Nonti did some jokes and said her name was Sophie Marceau (A famous French actress). Ohori introduced herself as ‘Sexy Meetan.’
Time for the stage songs. Glass no I LOVE YOU (Sashihara Rino, Nito Moeno, Kitahara Rie, Kobayashi Kana) works extremely well in a live situation, I loved it. And I couldn’t get enough of Moeno in that outfit!

(http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9492/dsc08334rzc.th.jpg) (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/dsc08334rzc.jpg/)

The absolute highlight was Kinjirareta Futari with Matsui Rena and Kasai Tomomi. They impressed me most of all. They  are absolutely gorgeous. The dialogs were in French, no idea what they said but it sounded amazing. I hope an mp3 will turn up. Beautiful outfits as well, Matsui’s white dress and Kasai in pink.
Up next was Nage Kiss de Uchi Otose! (Kikuchi Ayaka, Minegishi Minami, Takajyo Aki, Sumire Sato, Kohara Haruka, Urano Kazumi). I don’t really like this song, nor these girls, so I decided to follow Kohara because she looks interesting. Their dances are so elaborate that it’s hard to keep your eyes on one girl, even is there are only six on stage. Himawari (Noro Kayo, Ohori Megumi, Akimoto Sayaka, Kuramochi Asuka) followed and it was my chance to check out Sayaka and Mocchi. Great performance, just as expected.

(http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1726/dsc08361r.th.jpg) (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/dsc08361r.jpg/)

Mocchi’s dancing was out of sync, it might have been on purpose because it was exactly the same at the second concert. These four did a short MC and introduced Bingo!
Everybody sang along with the ‘woooh oh wow’ part, but then it hit us.. the song was entirely in English! OMG! It worked really well and it shows that they put in effort for the foreign fans. It didn’t stop at Bingo, Oogoe Diamond was in English as well! I had mixed emotions, because I wanted to sing along with the Japanese lyrics, haha. Finally, the last song Sakura no Hanabiratachi with the chorus in French. Beautiful, just beautiful. The delay between the bells and when the guitar enters seemed to be longer than on the single, which really build up the tension a bit more.
A couple things I noticed throughout the concert is that they ooze fun. They honestly enjoy what they are doing and that makes it all the more fun to watch. Secondly, the dances are quite intense. Matsui really dances her ass of in true Team S spirit! We yelled for an encore but didn’t get it, but that’s ok. Before the concert I was met up with Kaito and Kyobu (S48), who hooked me up with a cool blue glow stick :D. We chatted a bit and agreed that it was epic. We had an amazing time.
After we cooled down we headed to the first signing session. It’s hard to tell from my pics who where there exactly, but at least: Miichan, Mocchi, Cindy, Kohara, Amina and Akicha. This is when I met the legendary DarkScorpion for the first time, who was eager to meet Miichan. Also some other guys from Nihongogo who were all very nice. The signing system was quite elaborate and not a guaranteed success, so I decided to spend more time at the Expo instead of waiting in line and trying to score tickets to the signing sessions.
After I’d calmed down from all the excitement we checked out Ra:in. I’ve never seen so many people walk away from a concert during the first song. I’m not sure if it was the sound, or the crowd, or the band, but something didn’t click and we decided to call it a day. After the expo we decided to head back into Paris to check out the Eiffel Tower. Big mistake: the metro was crowded like hell, it was hot like hell and I was already exhausted. The Tower was bigger than I remembered it to be. When it was around 10 PM the lights turned on, which was pretty, yet sorta vulgar haha.

Finally a proper review! Thanx!

As I said, I'm glad you had fun, specially since you're a "new fan". Seing the girls live is an amazing experience and I'm damn happy you all there could do it.

I'm impressed by the fact the songs in English sounded good. That's speaks well of AKB  :inlove:

I'll be looking forward the second part of your review  :thumbsup

SAYAKA is so beauty, BTW

^yeah, that's highly likely  :)

Thanks Ange. Yes, you could tell they put a lot of effort in translating the songs. The songs still flow nicely and the dance routines match the lyrics.

Part 2

04-07-09

We arrived at out hotel at midnight. I was exhausted from the heat, emotions and the amount of walking. As a result it hardly got any sleep. In addition, I hadn’t been eating properly and was surviving on energy drinks. As a result, I was sick as hell the next morning. I had to get over it, because today was another AKB filled day and it was going to be the day with the most crowd.
We got into the expo surprisingly easy, even quicker then the first day. I spotted the Nihongogo crew just in front of us. We browsed through various stands and shops and we scored some free curry ramen, which was the tastiest thing I’ve eaten since we arrived in Paris. After eating my stomach settled down. Like yesterday, we noticed the MASSIVE line for Clamp. I’m not into manga/anime at all, but it was nice to see how the variety of the Expo worked out. Some groups had no idea who AKB48 are and other groups did not know what Clamp and Glenat are. In addition, there is also a group of hardcore gamers who spend the entire day playing Tomb Raider on PS1, haha, seems like a waste of time.

We went to the info shop to gather some info on AKB48’s signing session. I bumped into DarkScorpion, Happosai and Ani_Max from Nihongogo and they filled me in. I decided to spend more time at the expo and the various concerts and did not bother trying to get in the signing session. I did pick up Himawari 2nd stage at the JE Live shop!

Next event was the AKB48 conference! I was nice and early and sat down. As soon as I sat down an announcement was made: “here they are!” I was like, wow that’s fast. “The stars from Battlestar Gallactica!” D’OH! Haha. Seriously, there were more guys here than at the AKB48 concert, haha. Anyway, we sat through it and hoped to get to the front when it ended. It went ok, we managed to sit in the center of the 2nd row! Now it was waiting to see who would be there. I was worried because they only put like four bottles of water on the desk. But! I was lucky! Many favorites showed up. Sayaka, Nonti, Matsui, Miichan, Sasshi and Kitarie ! Quite a line-up.
I tried to make eye contact with some of the girls. I didn’t really work out with Sayaka and Nonti, but I got some smiles and a wave from Matsui <3! I was blushing my ass of. Sasshi got all exited every time some said ‘hajimemashite,’ that was cute. If you’ve seen the first AKBingo episode of 2009, you may remember Nonti having and ‘on mode’ and ‘off mode’. She was in ‘off mode’ for quite a while, haha:

(http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4356/dsc08253a.th.jpg) (http://img19.imageshack.us/i/dsc08253a.jpg/)

The idea was that you could raise your hand if you wanted to ask a question. The girls would pick someone and a translator would help is needed. However! No English! DarkScorpion was the first to ask a question, but his mic didn’t work. He ran over to the staff to explain his question:

(http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/5588/dsc08257i.th.jpg) (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/dsc08257i.jpg/)

Halfway through I gathered up enough courage to raise my hand, but I didn’t get picked. No problem. I got some attention from Matsui, I was in heaven haha. The final question: “Why did you sing in English in French, we wanted to hear the songs in Japanese!”. Kitarie said something like “What a horrible question, we tried so hard” and the guy who asked the question got booed, haha. But everything had a nice atmosphere.
That was that. Bye bye for now!

(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/6510/dsc08309q.th.jpg) (http://img200.imageshack.us/i/dsc08309q.jpg/)

Up next was the most tricky part of the day. Puffy AmiYumi was scheduled before AKB48. Our plan was to be as close to the front as possible at the Puffy show, so we could make our was to the front for AKB48. So we headed to the live house where there was a small line already. We sat down and, just like yesterday. The AKB members walked by. This time my friend was ready with his camera. I yelled KUUMIN!!! With success!

(http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/518/dsc08311ltc.th.jpg) (http://img199.imageshack.us/i/dsc08311ltc.jpg/)

We were standing 8th row for Puffy. I got their latest album so I knew a couple of their songs. Of course, I’d seen them in shows like downtown and stuff, so I was exited to see them. They performed with a live band, with an excellent lead guitarist. He was great to watch, very energetic and made a connection with the crowd. Puffy’s MC started. They started out in French, but very soon they gave up and went like “You guys like Japan right, so it’s ok if we talk in Japanese?” The crowd said ok and they went on with a very sloppy MC. They didn’t know what to say or who was going to speak. A couple thing about the Puffy show; they can sing very well, they sound good together. Their songs lack variety, it was cool to hear them, but the concert was long enough. Finally, it seems like Ami and Puffi hate each other haha. They are like two front women who fight for attention. I don’t think they even looked at each other once. Well, whatever, the concert was cool and it was time for AKB48’s 2nd concert!

(http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/2967/dsc08319h.th.jpg) (http://img268.imageshack.us/i/dsc08319h.jpg/)

We managed to get to the FRONT ROW! YES! Our plan had worked perfectly... or didn’t it?  We saw quite a few people leaving and we got nervous. 10 second later, security popped up telling us to clear the concert hall. WHAT!!! NO FUCKING WAY!! There were some other pissed people, but there was no choice. We had to leave the area. Of course, there was a MASSIVE line of AKB48 fans already at the entrance of the hall. No!!!
We had to come up with some sort of scheme. If we had to go to the back of the line we were doomed, no chance of a good place for the concert. We lurked around the exit area of the live house for a while to come up with a plan. Let me explain the situation: From the expo to the live house there was a passage, which was divided into three parts: exit (we), press (some people), entrance (completely packed, well into the expo hall). After a while I decided I was not there to make friends (except S48 / Nihongogo members) and that we were going to be rude in the true French way. No offense, there were some nice Frenchies and the expo crew was friendly and helpful, but we honestly encountered a LOT of rude French people. This was the plan: we would sneak into the press line and sit down, as to not be spotted by the security and crew. We slowly made our way forward through the press line and sat down next to the entrance line. We waited for the right moment and cut in line! We got some angry faces, but no one made a big deal out of it.  The doors opened and we ran like hell. The crew tried to stop us and said no running. Yeah right, haha. We managed to get like 7th row, which really as the best we could do considering the situation. Besides, I think we were the only people in the Expo who got to see Puffy AND AKB48 from a close distance. I was happy everything worked out.
No AKB48 concert review this time, it was pretty much the same as the first time. Nonti introduced herself as Carla Bruni (France’s First Lady) and got MASSIVE boos, haha. The other members were surprised at the amount of booing and Nonti said (in English) “I am so sorry”, haha. Another amazing performance. During Sakura no Hanabiratachi I got tears in my eyes.

No matter what happened, my day was a massive success being able to see Puffy, AKB48’s show and being up close during the press conference. We went to the are for the second signing session where we met up with Kaito and Kyoby again who looked horribly depressed, They had some train problems and missed everything they wanted to see (MEG, Kanon, not so good place at AKB48’s 2nd show). I felt bad for them. The girls for the second session were: Matsui, Nonti, Kasai. Sasshi, Moeno, Kitarie and Sayaka. Happosai and Ani_Max were first in line, lucky bastards haha. Many interesting stuff happened here. Kaito yelled at his oshimen, Nonti and she smiled and waved at al of us. We were standing to the left of them. I managed to get some waved and smiles from Matsui again <3. This is where I met Blu-Cherri properly for the first time :) she called out for Sayaka, but she was way on the other side. DarkScorpion was facing the front of the stage and he interacted with Sasshi, she did a part of her ‘wota dance’ as seen in AKBingo. Sasshi really shines in a off-stage environment. Afterward all various forum members met up and talked for a bit. Actually, behind us we could see Puffy again, which was nice. They are much prettier in real life as well.

(http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6713/dsc08383u.th.jpg) (http://img7.imageshack.us/i/dsc08383u.jpg/)

Anyway, I said goodbye and had one last look at the expo. This guy sums up a lot of the crowd, cosplaying, bunny ears and playing DDR as if his life depended on it.

(http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5121/dsc08385k.th.jpg) (http://img6.imageshack.us/i/dsc08385k.jpg/)

On our way back we met the guys behind Resident Evil: the Darkside Chronicles. Funny how they are neat, tidy ad friendly and make games about gore and zombies, haha.

This is it as far as the Expo’s concerned. Hope you liked my little review, feel free to ask any questions you might have. I will write a little review on each of the girls and the impression they gave me. Some girls were quite different from what I expected!

The Girls of Team France

Kitahara Rie: I was never really into her, because I never saw anything special in her. When I first saw her at the concert I noticed she looks somewhat different than on tv and in magazines. (Actually, this is something which is true for a lot of them). She was quite pretty, a good dancer and she seemed to be high in spirits the entire time. A pleasure to look at. She definitely goes up in my ranking.

Sato Amina: I never really noticed her and always considered her ‘one the new Team A girls’. From the pics it looks like one of her eye is twice the size of the other eye. In real life it’s not that bad. Her talking voice is extremely high pitched, which is kinda cute actually. Like Rie, she seemed to be high in spirits. Thanks the these two I have some faith in the future of Team A.

Takajo Aki: Again a new Team A girl. She didn’t really stand out during the concert or during the signing. I think she was the only one who did her introduction in Japanese, and it was pretty corny, but kinda cute. I think she feels more at ease in Japan.

Minegishi Minami: The best known Team A girl in France. I’m not a big fan, but I liked her in Men-dol so it was cool to see her. Her voice is LOUD and as you probably know she’s an amazing dancer.

Akimoto Sayaka: She seemed to be the leader of the concert and got to talk a lot. She’s really easy to spot and great stage presence, and an amazing voice of course. She’s really serious and professional, but never forgets the occasional smile and wave at the fans.

Ohori Megumi: What a character. I wonder if her voice really is like that or if she does it on purpose to make her sound sexy. I don’t think she’s pretty. She really looks old compared to the rest :p. She does enjoy being on stage and gave the fans plenty of looks and smiles which I appreciate a lot.

Kasai Tomomi: WOW! GORGEOUS. Seriously, I did not expect her to be this cute in real life. When she sings and dances she really gets into the song and has excellent facial impressions and hand movements.  Her legs are endless.

Kuramochi Asuka: I was really exited to see her, but she didn’t shine as much as I’d hoped. She seemed reaaally nervous and talked very softly. Her dancing during himawari was out of sync, not sure if that was on purpose. During the signing session she smiled a lot and she really is pretty. She needs more confidence, because she has amazing potential.

Kobayashi Kana: Horrible! She looked angry, uninterested and unmotivated the entire time. During the concert and offstage.. what a boring girl, I hope she graduates asap.

Noro Kayo: I think she is very sweet. When we called her name she waved and smiled a whole lot. During the concerts she showed she can can dance and sing. Besides, she really is in charge of laughter. She needs to watch her ‘off mode’ a bit, because she tends to look really uninterested when she’s not talking or performing. Nonti reminds me a bit of Ogawa Makoto: funny, but sometimes just spaces out.

Urano Kazumi: Even though she is the big sister of the coolest Team out there, she failed to impress me. She looked tired and old. She did try her best during her stage song, but it just didn’t come across right. Also during the signing session she did not out or did anything memorable.

Kohara Haruka: I didn’t really know her, but she impressed me! Great smile, great energy and another crazily high pitched voice. Very very cute. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on her from now on.

Sashihara Rino: It was hard for me to spot her during the concerts. She did ok, but she really shines offstage. She is quick, funny, cute.. everything you want in your idol. When someone spoke Japanese her eyes pop out in true Yukirin fashion. Plus she did a bit of her wota dance. Awesome awesome girl!

Nito Moeno: The opposite of Rino, they would make a great team. Moeno is kinda shy offstage, but very sweet. On stage she’s just awesome. Really easy to spot, and good dancing and singing. The future of AKB48 needs a lot more Sasshi and Moeno!

I’ll skip the research students, because most of them didn’t perform due to their age. Sorry Kikuchi.

Tsukina Takai: Sadly I only got to see her twice, very briefly, when she walked by the queue for the concert.

Matsui Rena: Massive WOWs all around. She shines! Absolutely amazing. Cute voice, AMAZING dancer and very pretty. Her duet with Kasai was unbelievably epic. Even off stage she’s the best, can’t stop smiling, enjoying everything that happens around her. Like I said in the review, she was the one I connected with the most.. she might just be my new favorite.

Yagami Kumi: Same story as Tsukina. Very pretty girl though. She smiled and waved when I yelled her name, so massive points for that, haha. Would’ve loved to see her perform, because I still think she’s among the best three girls in SKE.

General ranking of the girls who performed at the expo (excluding RS), based on everything:

01.   Matsui Rena
02.   Kasai Tomomi
03.   Nito Moeno
04.   Sashihara Rino

05.   Haruka Kohara
06.   Kitahara Rie
07.   Akimoto Sayaka
08.   Kuramochi Asuka
09.   Amina Sato
10.   Noro Kayo

11.   Minegishi Minami (she's good and fun, but just not my type)
12.   Takajo Aki

13.   Ohori Megumi
14.   Urano Kazumi
15.   Kobayashi Kana

Barrie-v, you've far outdone what I'd written down to post!  Hats off to you, my friend!

What were you wearing at the conference?!  I was in the front row, girl with red hair and purple top on.  If I got a bit pushy, I do apologise, it really was nothing personal!  I was shaking so much from the excitiement!  Also, I was probably right in front of you for the queue into the gig - my mate Dave was first, I was just by the girls shouting from the overture!

On the first day, we queued up at 10:15 for the concert.  Although we were waiting for hours and hours, it was well worth it, we were so close to the stage that my camera couldn't zoom out far enough to get the whole lineup of girls in!  I used to be impartial to the Overture, but as soon as it came on, chills ran up my spine!  The opening song of Aitakatta was very fitting, as we'd wanted to meet them all, too.  10nen Zakura and Namida Surprise! were great, but a lot of my mind is a blank from those two songs, I was highly emotional and very excited.

The MC was very boring, not too much outside of "are you having fun!?  We're happy to be here, etc."  The middle songs were great - I don't usually like Glass no I LOVE YOU or Nage Kiss de Uchi Otose! but they've quickly become two of my most played tracks...^.^;;  Kinjirareta Futari was great, the girls really sang with emotion and the French bits were great (more on this in a bit...)

I hadn't really listened to the Himawari stages, but after the performance of Himawari, this has changed.  They're quickly becoming some of my favourite stages.

The English versions of Oogoe Diamond and Bingo surprise me a bit, but I enjoyed them.  I was just a bit sad that I couldn't sing along.  Still, I did my best to dance along.  The chorus of Sakura no Hanabiratachi was very good in French - I am constantly surprised by the girls' ability to speak French as well as they did.  For native speakers of a language with no concept of the differentiation between "r" and "l", they did extraordinarily well.

I wasn't sure who most of the girls outside of Team A were - but they were all so cute!  I couldn't believe how, well, PERFECT they all look in reality.  You expect blemishes or something, but they really are gorgeous.  Sayaka showing a bit of flesh made me a lot bit jealous and a little bit intrigued.  I swear that my idol love will turn me gay...

At the conference, I managed to make eye contact with quite a few of the girls - Sayaka and Mii-chan were the ones I was most concerned with.  I got a little wave from Mii-chan, I was nearly sick with nerves/excitement at that point.

The signing sessions for both days were VERY messed up.  On the first day, there were 100 tickets for the signing, on the second day there were 40 tickets.  Both days, we turned up precisely when we were told and all the tickets had been given out early.  We were lucky on the first day - a randomer walked up and gave us a ticket, so at least one of us got to go up.  On the second day, despite arriving at the information booth for the tickets many hours before, checking back later on, and arriving early for the distribution, we couldn't get one.  According to the girl at the information desk, people had started to queue up and it was a safety risk, thus the tickets had to be given out early.  I was furious, but I still got to sit so close to them at the conference, so I just swallowed my annoyance.

The second day was filled up by the Puffy Ami Yumi concert, then a run back outside to join the queue for AKB.  The queue wasn't that long when we got there, and we managed to get quite close again.  It wasn't as close as the first day, but not bad.  Unfortunately for me, I'm quite short, and I couldn't see much more than a fragment of the stage because there was a very smelly French guy in front of me, and tall people further on in front.

During Oogoe Diamond, I got quite emotional and tears welled up in my eyes.  I'd finally realised that THIS WAS IT!  This was what I'd waited for and watched and loved and now I was taking part!  During Sakura no Hanabiratachi I got emotional again.  Nearly took one of my friends' faces off because he made fun of me for doing the dances along with the girls!

All in all, this was one of the best two days of my life.  Morning Musume have taken a back seat in my idol love, and I intend to see the AKB48 girls a lot more - off to Japan in a month for a year's study abroad.  Studying Mii-chan and Sayaka's legs more like.

Pics to follow..maybe. :jphip:

Thanks (for your comments on my review and for writing your own)  :)

I was wearing a green/yellow/purple Ai Otsuka shirt with some AKB48 stickers on it. We must have met, but I have no idea what you look like. A pic would help  :)

Yes, I quickly gave up on the signing session as well. I'm glad I didn't waste any time trying to get in. Even though it would've been epic to meet them up close.

So you've seen Puffy too? What did you think of their concert?

Please post your pics. Just zip them up and put them on sendspace/mediafire.. let the computer do the work  :P

Morning who?   j/k. I'm actually thinking of selling most of my H!P collection now.. but I might regret it later.

edit: @Sh15uya, sorry i didn't get any pictures of Kanon. I really wanted to see her, but during her appearance at the Harajuku Fashion show I was at the AKB conference and I missed her concert on the 5th because we had to get to the train station. There are some cool vids of her concert on YT.

edit 2: To get an idea of the English version Bingo!

So far the intros(the first MC), Aitakatta and 10nen sakura have been done.
It's really good everyone watch :O

^ That almost looks like what could go on a concert DVD  :twothumbs

Some of the angles look like from the camera's that where in front of the fans between them and the stage...

Here are most of my pics from the event!  I couldn't get any from day 2 as I am too short and was too far back    Still, I think I got some decent ones of the first event, although I'd turned my flash off so the images may be a bit shaky.  If any are crap because of digital zoom, I apologise!  Also, I would have taken more, but I was combination dumbstruck and trembling with joy/excitement/nerves, so these few will have to do!

C'est moi.  I didn't look like that at the convention, I looked sweaty and uncomfortable, but hopefully gives you an idea.  I think I remember you, you were behind me maybe one seat to the left.  If I remember, you stuck some stickers on you at the beginning of the conference.

The Puffy concert was pretty good!  I hadn't ever really listened to them before (apart from the Hi Hi Puffy show theme song...) so I was a bit of a P.A.Y. virgin.  Still, I was suitably impressed and bought their album before leaving for the day.  I've been told that they played a mix of old and new stuff, but I thought it was all really catchy and I got into it.

AKB48 MC in French (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y8HiiZZ4qs#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq)

TRANSLATION

Be forewarned, this isn't perfect!  Although I speak both French and Japanese (the former better than the latter), I couldn't catch all of what they said.  Crowd noise and plain old speaking too damn fast caught me up sometimes!  Still, I hope this helps all those who couldn't understand!

Sayaka:Okay!  AKB48!  We've come from Akihabara to debut in Paris! (she points to Kobayashi...)
Hana:  Hi!  I'm Hana Kobayashi, merci, ureshii, tanoshii* ????** yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Amina:  Hi!  I'm Amina Sato, yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

[bgcolor=#00ffff]Megumi[/bgcolor]:  Hi~!  I'm Megumi Ohori!  Call me Meshibe!  I don't get her next bit.
[bgcolor=#ffff00]Asuka[/bgcolor]:  Now, this song!  Let's go!

*Thank you, I'm happy and having fun
**I think she messed up and said je m'appelle, but it sounds sort of like "gentil".  I really don't know and I can't hear it very well in this video.
^It's a play on her nickname Akicha - "cha" in Japanese means "tea".  So, it goes "green tea, barley tea, oolong tea, but finally....Akicha"!

Phew!  So yeah, they didn't say much interesting, but I'd hate not knowing what they said anyway!

^Loved the MC. Even though they didn't say anything interesting, it was cool to hear them speak. Lol @ Rena's Yahoooi! and Miicha is so loud  :)

Ah yes, I think I've seen you. Too bad we didn't know at the time, we could've talked a bit.

Thanks for sharing the pics!  XD

Puffy was pretty cool indeed. I got their new album before the expo and I think they performed at least 4 tracks of it; the first three and dokidoki. The show theme rocked the house.

If I remember, you stuck some stickers on you at the beginning of the conference.

lol, yeah. We were having a discussion where to put them. I didn't want to them to ruin the print on the shirt. Throughout the conference I was telling my friend who to take pictures of

For anyone that didn't go, that's the MC from the second concert, the first one was slightly different.
They didn't introduce nicknames except for CinDy I don't think...also Nontii said a different name, Sophie someone and indicated for everyone to boo her.  It's why the booing on saturday started so quickly and loudly.

edit: For Megumi I'm pretty sure she translates what 'meshibe' means as she mentions something about flowers.

Ahah, cheers guys, sorry for mistakes.  I'm not that knowledgeable on the members of AKB48, but after the JE experience, I daresay I'll force myself into starting the "who's who" all over again.  _Insert nightmares of learning past/present MoMusu and H!P members here_

Is there any footage of the beginning of Namida Surprise from the first concert??
Was it just me or was no1 in Takamina's position for that grab the arm bit???

I'm gonna guess it was lovetan who had that part originally and they hadn't finished sorting out the replacement.

I'm envious that you guys got to take video and pictures of your concert. Nice to know that AKS is aware that some camera footage ain't going to wreck sales. You hear that, UFA?

Great stuff though. It looks like it was a fun event. Glad you guys enjoyed!

^After reading your experiences in LA,  I have to give big props to the staff at the Paris Expo. This was the 10th time they organized this event and the queuing and entering the expo was very well thought out. Getting into the signature session was a bit more tricky, but overall I thought it was a well organized event. Even the restrooms and stuff were big and decent.
I asked some questions to the staff and even though most of them didn't speak English, they tried to answer as best as they could/ They would even go find someone who could speak English. Excellent!

In retrospect I'm glad we got to see these members, instead of a full Team A. It would've been cool to see the more famous girls, but these girls really came through. They sung and danced their hearts out and they were great fun to be around. I'm glad the European fans gave them a lot of attention and a lot of love. I think the girls were amazed by the number and intensity of the European fans.

^Oh yh the expo was amazingly organised really.  Largest of this type in Europe so must be a real nightmare to organise.
Most akb fans didn't attend on thursday which was the only day when the queuing was off.  Basically because thursday has such a small attendance they didn't have the queuing outside, just a giant on mass getting into the inside queue.

The staff at the expo were also so kind, on thursday I kinda collapsed/fell asleep(I was sitting down at the time cuz I knew it was gonna happen) and a guy from the parapara place walked me around to find the medical people(who weren't at their station) and even took me to the information point where the information people were so kind and got me a chair to sit on and water to drink whilst I waited.  They were so worried at first(cuz I said I was on my own) until I said my age(18) as I really look so young xD

I really do wish I'd known before that we'd be able to talk to the girls, I would have worked out things to say beforehand >__<

Haha, we really weren't supposed to take pictures or videos, but the concert area was so packed that there was no way to get up to the front where the cameras were!  I think that they may have just accepted defeat; I hope they don't take the vids down from youtube, though.

It really was a great event, and the staff were all exceptionally kind and understanding.  During the wait for Friday's AKB concert, they came out many times to let us know about the changing times, and they were all apologetic and nice about it all.  Given the size of it, it all went smoothly.  And after reading about AX, I'm glad that I went to Paris instead.  Not that I wouldn't have loved to see MoMusu, but I can see them in Japan, without angry American security arseholes.

(http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1068/camerasentelefoons.th.jpg) (http://img34.imageshack.us/i/camerasentelefoons.jpg/)

But yes, I'm really glad we managed to take tons of pictures and video footage to remember the event. I reeeeally hope they'll release an actual DVD. Two identical concert are perfect to obtain enough footage for a decent dvd.. plus there were several cameras.. and AKBingo has pimped the Paris event.. and the FC joined in as well.

^Concerts weren't totally identical, the group songs had different outfits and i know a bit in the namida surprise dance was different between the two days.(well friday had takamina's arm grabbing bit missing, it became a solo line...i'm gonna assume lovetan was supposed to do it)
But yeah hopefully :D
It'd be cool if they released both days.

^100 on one day and 30 on the other day(though some sources say 40)
But you know what, it didn't matter hugely because you still talk to the girls(it was all open and we were able to be so close to the girls) and that was more important to me than having some writing on a piece of paper.(though I would still love to try and get their autographs)

Basically the main issue with the autographs(that does annoy me) is when they gave the tickets out both days.  I hadn't realised it wasn't as we were told on the website and that the tickets were given out on saturday during the concert and on sunday they gave them out earlier than planned because the fans hanging around the area where tickets were give out became a safety hazard.

Hello,

I am not a regular here nowadays, but i just thought i will sharme short recap too.

First of all, i had to say that, I was used to be H!P fan before, but more than a year i paying attention to AKB48 more & more. It was around 2009 januar when i noticed i love AKB48 much-much better  than H!P, and since then, i was totally focusing to the AKB girls only.

So when i heard the news about some of the girz coming to France, it was not a question go or not go. Finally i could made it (with some of my friends as well).

This event was really a life-time experience !!! Those who love AKB48 and coudn't make it to Japan Expo ....well...they could really sorry to miss it!

At the japan expo, i had a chance to see the girz at 5 TIMES !!! ( 2 x concert, 2 x singning session, 1 conference)
Even if go to Japan, no chance for see the AKB girz five times especially from a very close distance  (and for 30 EUR only) . Probably at their thether only.

At the first concert i could manage to get close to the stage (i was in the first 20-30 people who enetered the stage place), but in a case of second concert i was able to get in with first 10-15 fan.   :D   Of cource it's required many hours to wait - but heck, it was really worth it.  :twothumbs

I don't want  make another concert preview here, because BarrieV and otherz made good recaps, just enough to say it was AMAZING EPIC.

To see the girz to dancing and siging front of myself as close as a couple of meter - it is something like a dream come true.     I was so close to the stage -right behind the 1st row of press/media people - but, right after the japanese FC wotas)

At the concert, i feel embarrased when Kasai come out siging duo with Rena (quite close the edge of stage in her amazing dress) and accidentaly i could "peeping" under her dress.

During the concert  i had a feeling that i could make multiple "eye contact" with Noro, Rie, and otherz.

It was simple just Fantastic. Good songz with many girz who i like (Akimoto, Miichan, Kitarie, Rena and otherz)

Not to mention the autograph session, where those poeople who had no luck to enter and signing their stuff (fracking loeetery system  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead: ) but even from outside the we could "communicate" with them. For Example: i was shouting "Meeeeeeguuuuuumiii" and Meetan was waving and smiling back to me (Saying: Yes, I am Megumi) Sasshi, Akimoto, Rina was who was shining at the signing session most, but other girz was nice too - all of them was making interacting with the cheering fans who standing outside.

Even the Conference event was OK, i could sit the first row (right after the battlestar Galactica conference - which was my other really expected event ), so i could see the girz reaaction from very close distance. However, I was very angry when stupid guyz asked stupid questions (why are signing some of the songs in english instead of japanese, and similar)

The most f*cking question was someboday asking something Tomomi-chan birthday which was on the same day when the conference, I guess - but the question was pointed to Kitarie, who had birthday on 06.24 - so i was like: "why the hell are You asking Rie about Tomomi b-day?????  :banghead:  "   ( I am a big Kitarie fan, sorry...... )

But was some good questions as well. There was nice older japanese guy sitting of my left (with his 1 or 2 children) and asking Sayaka about: Did You think about to build up a special unit Paris 48 for the present and coming europe perfs ...... or something like that (Sorry my japanese quite bad). Sayaka than explained, it would be nice move, but their producer will decide that.

For me, the 2  long day what i spent at Japan Expo, was one my best two day, reallyl a memorable event, and i personally think, in the close future there will be no chance to see any AKB48 girz to see in real live, from a such close distance, for a long duration ....at least to me ... but hopefully some You Guyz propably will have !

Some pix: (Sorry i made videos, instead of pictures)

ee~ another fan :D
The only thing I missed was the conference(my other reason for going was all the laforet things going on).

Whilst I was there I heard a rumour about the girls coming back to JE not next year but the year after(only a rumour I know) but it seems the trip was successful(and with bringing the japanese fans out for lots of money added on to everything, probably financially viable) so I wouldn't lose hope just yet.

So cool that you got so close, much closer than I got(but Rie still noticed me in the second concert :D)

And thanks for your review! Glad to hear that everybody had an epic time at the expo. 30 euros for three days of expo is a steal, considering just a ticket for Puffy runs at about 37.50 euro.

I forgot to check out this thread...
Firstly, I think the Japan Expo this year was much better than last year's. Better organization, less waiting, more concerts, more conferences, lots of interesting stuff to see and to do. I really enjoyed the expo and I hope it will be the same next year. As some already said, the staff members were kind and eager to help. In addition many of the female staff members were really cute!

Now about the AKB48 conference, of course there were many interesting questions and some stupid as well... If anyone of you ever went to another conference as I did, they'll find out that there will always be people who ask "useless" questions!
I even remember one guy who asked a question about something which had been said just a few minutes before... Someone should have kicked his ass! He's wasting our time!

haro2lee complained about a guy asking why they sang some songs in English instead of Japanese. I don't understand why you got so angry, I think it's a good question. I can't remember which girl answered the question, but she said it was because they wanted their French fans to understand the lyrics. The guy (who asked the question) pointed out that their French fans prefer Japanese instead of English, and I agree with that. I'm not going to a Japanese concert to listen to some English songs! But I think they didn't just do it because of their fans, maybe the producer of AKB48 wants to see if the girls can be successful outside Japan, and of course English is the way to go. Take BoA for instance, she made an American debut over a year ago with English songs of course, and not Japanese. The point is: Japanese songs will appeal to people who like Japan and anime, English songs instead will appeal to a much wider audience. I don't think Boa would be successful in the United States with Japanese songs, nor would AKB48.

Lastly, a few words about the concert. I enjoyed the Puffy concert more than the AKB48 concert. It was not bad, it's just I'm not into AKB48's music.
Plus all the girls made an huge effort to introduce themselves in French, which was cute. I especially liked it when Kayo Noro introduced herself as Carla Bruni! That gave me a good laugh! She's a funny girl!

Thanks hideki8394  for your comments! Some of the staff was very cute indeed!

As for singing in English and French, I think it's also because they hugely underestimated how popular they are here. I don't think they even know there's a massive European crowd which watches AKBingo and stuff.

Puffy was excellent as well, but I thought their MCs were really sloppy. "I wrote something down in French, but I don't feel like reading it" and "who is supposed to talk? You do the song introduction".. that kind off vibe. And they never looked at each other once  are they always like that? I'm not that familiar with their concerts.

I did originally want to go to the puffy concert on saturday but after arriving late and the laforet finishing when it did everything just sort of went >_<

Lol you could tell quite a few people attended both days because we were all prepared to boo nontii on the second day xD(she had to tell us to boo on the first one :P)

If I don't go to japan next year there's a good chance I'll go to the expo as even if akb48 aren't there I'm sure there'll be some other guest and the laforet is bound to be there again

^THANKS FOR THE LINKS :O :D I can hear some phrases so clearly here :D :D

I'm planning on going next year again as well. I feel like there was a bunch of stuff I missed. I haven't even seen the main stage!   Based on the website info, the guest from previous years were cool as well --> Scandal, Nana Kitade, Mana.. just to name a few.

If AKB48 in NY turn out to not be a rumor I might consider that as well  :w00t:

FYI, FlatLineVideo has uploaded the rest of the videos! Including the tear jerker; Les Petales du Sakura   He went totally overboard using cheesy effect on Himawari though..

But he did get some nice close-ups of Nontii in  :D

For some reason it looks like almost all of the camera shots are from the right side of the stage...

The problem with the expo is that sometimes there are a few events which you'd like to attend but they might run at the same time!! So you've got to take seriously into consideration which one you're going to attend because you'll never get another chance to see it again! That happened last year, this year and I can already predict that it'll happen next year too!

I went last year to the Scandal concert and it was awesome! Those girls are full of energy!! Their music was great and in addition they are super cute!! They seem to have gained some popularity since then.

For me only 2 events ran at the same time(laforet and the akb48 conference), the rest just ended up being difficult because of things being late and me wanting to spend time with my friends(who didn't want to go to any of the akb48 stuff)

I saw the other FLV videos yesterday, was really good except the excess of effects on himawari...but the great closeups made up for it(although I did notice one footage of mocchi was out of time O.o)

So cool that you got so close, much closer than I got(but Rie still noticed me in the second concert :D)

Because i was very close to the stage (at the 2nd concert), not to mention that i was higher then all people around me, plus waving orange penlight all the time, i could "highlight" myself to the girls, and i had multiple eye contact with Rie tooo  :D :twothumbs

Oopsss.. Did I mentioned i could get a handshake with Kitarie at Japan Expol ?

If you look at the hair style Meetan has during Himawari (pony tail/loose) you will see it change several times, looks like he used footage of both days.

OMFG!! DO WANT!

Too bad it's only 24 minutes. Actually, that leads me to one big question:
Is this all we're gonna get from Paris or is it merely a preview? It could indicate they have the entire performance ready to go on DVD and several photo sets as well...........

I hope those 24minutes include the english songs with optional subtitles or the lyrics are included SOMEWHERE.
Explains the mass video removal from youtube.

I really want it too T_T

It gets worse! A little later in the video, during Sakura no hanabiratachi there's a pretty close shot of me and Kaito from S48

Check it out, it's part 3 @ 6:27

Trivia: for the band images they show the 2nd show, and they alternate audience shots from the 1st and 2nd show  :P

edit: lol, you can see mee clapping @ 8:33  8)

ah the fact they alternate audience shots makes so much more sense cuz when you said they could see you next to kaito I was confused as I was next to him in the second one xD

I appear twice in video 2
(http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4592/dvdme2.th.jpg) (http://img193.imageshack.us/i/dvdme2.jpg/)
(http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/545/dvdme.th.jpg) (http://img8.imageshack.us/i/dvdme.jpg/)
I circled myself for easy viewing. ^_^
The second one is much clearer in motion as I'm jumping(you wouldn't see me if I wasn't)

I know it's like all the memories of everything are suddenly even clearer than they were before.

I had to watch it kinda stop-start because of my internet but BINGO in English wasn't included at anypoint was it??
and we still don't have the lyrics to either of the english ones do we??

It's always great to see the girls interacting outside their normal environment, but COME ON! Only 22 mins? They should have compensated for the non-existent stage time you guys got out of the 'underage' girls into DVD screen time! And that was also probably why the seniors had to do some emergency practice & fine tuning until late at night. But let bygones be bygones.

One thing I would like to know is what the other girls were doing when the "Nemousu team" was out shooting. From this DVD we see that ALL the girls were together when they went sightseeing, so maybe Nemousu was shot the following day?

Post by: SomethingWild on September 07, 2009, 06:31:06 PM
^Maybe they did shoot both on the same day? The Nemousu filming could've been done in a couple hours, which would leave room for some sight seeing. I don't know, I guess we'll never know for sure.

I still hope a proper concert dvd will be released, but I doubt it... even though they probably have the footage.

Nemousu was shot the day before the concert(so I'm guessing thursday) as they asked people to come to their concert tomorrow.(I think they were at the expo too much on friday for it to have been then and still be sunny)

I really recommend watching this: http://www.hello-online.org/index.php?act=tracker&CODE=details&torrent=29357 (http://www.hello-online.org/index.php?act=tracker&CODE=details&torrent=29357)

- it gives you a great idea of what it's like to experience a show; i.e. not knowing where to watch, hearing their actual voices, fan noises
- English versions of Bingo and Oogoe Diamond (with plenty of Kasai footage)
- French/Japanese version of Sakura no Hanabiratachi with Rena center!
- Kasai and Rena doing the Kinjirareta Futari dialogs in French!

This concert made Rena my unquestioned #1 and anyone who ever doubted Rena should watch this. There's some good Rena footage during 10nen Sakura and Namida Surprise  :thumbup
