Well while avoiding Real Work, I decided to do a quick study on
How Beneficial Is It To Join Hello! Project Eggs for an aspiring idol!
At first I listed every Egg I could remember and some I'd forgotten, coming up with 54 names.
Then I marked the following info:
- If the member is currently active in H!P or elsewhere in UF*/TNX
- If the member ever had a chance to be a part of a major release (in addition to main groups, this includes Ongaku Gatas, Milky Way, Shugo Chara Egg, shuffles etc.)
- If the member debuted in a mainstream group or as a mainstream solo artist (Morning Musume, S/mileage, C-ute, Biyuuden, Erina Mano, Yuu Kikkawa)
- If the member debuted in an indie group or as an indie solo artist (The Possible*, Up up girls, Arisa Noto, Sayaka Kitahara)
*I counted The Possible as an indie group because they've never got as big as any main H!P groups, but I did count their releases as major releases. Cuz I'm complex like that.
I don't know if Yuu Kikkawa is officially considered indie, but she has much more exposure than Sayaka Kitahara, so I'll count her as mainstream anyway. Cuz I can.
ANYWAY, according to my basic math skills,
63% of all H!P Eggs are currently active in H!P/UF*/TNX, and have thus managed to create a lasting career with the same company or at least closely related companies. Note that this doesn't even include people like Yui Okada or Saki Ogawa who may no longer be active, but had a significant career in the company before moving on! Basically, over half of the Eggs are likely to find a home in the UF* land.
29 people, which means
53.7% of all Eggs, have had the chance to be a part of some major release (or will soon; I did mark Haruka Kudo here even if she hasn't released anything with Momusu
yet). Whether you're Akari Saho and released with Aa! and Shugo Chara Egg!, or a Morning Musume member like Mizuki Fukumura with a few MM singles under your belt, you're in the lucky slightly victorious half of H!P Eggs.
As many as
24% (13 Eggs) have had a chance to make it mainstream. I think it's a pretty high percentage considering how difficult it is to make it to one of the main H!P groups (and even harder to go solo!).
14 people, that is
25.9%, have joined an indie group or have an indie solo career.
That makes an even 50% of all Eggs who have once been placed into a stable group or have a solo career!
Note that this does not even include Ongaku Gatas, which had several releases and concert tours (I still consider it a temporary unit). It may be weird then that I included Up Up Girls who haven't released anything, but they seem like a more stable entity. OG had Eggs dropping like flies.
I'd say that joining H!P Eggs is pretty beneficial to any girl who's dreaming of becoming an idol. Of course, there were also girls who didn't seem to be serious about it and quit after a short period of time, and thus skew the stats a little bit. Come to think of it, I forgot to add one of them, this girl we only got one blog picture of and never confirmation that she actually was an Egg at some point... Meh fuck her! My stats are good. LOL
EDIT: FUCK ME I FORGOT FUYUKA KOSUGA, the girl who was going to be a S/mileage submember but will instead become an Egg because of health problems. Well, she's a special case.
