Ahoy!
So while I was checking for any ideas for my other fanfic {Same Ground}, I've found my old notebook were I wrote my Shaman's build and somehow, a different idea came =.=,

Prologue
Welcome to Year 2048, where chaos and destruction already engulfed the world.
The word “Peace” no longer exists thus making fear, terror and despair reign as humanity struggles to survive.
But amidst the disaster that caused the world to fall into pieces, only one country remained and four schools restored hope and faith. Admitting talented individuals, its students were trained in different arts to battle the evil force that threatens to annihilate on what remains on what they used to call Japan.
The pioneer school, Sacred Gate located in Akihabara in Tokyo. The school’s design reflects the school’s commitment in time-honored values with its traditional, oriental architecture, bricked-line walkways, pagodas, florid gardens and exotic fountains. In the middle of the school, running through its main walkway, a long winding stone dragon weaves below and above ground.
Mystic Peak located in Sakae, Nagoya was the second school to be established. Although the curriculum of Mystic Peak is similar to that if the other schools, its dedication to the arts is what sets Mystic Peak apart. The school is surrounded by lush, verdant green trees, field of blooming flowers and plants that add color and vibrancy to an already scenic campus. Stained glass windows frame the campus building with an air of solemn grandeur.
A grand staircase in the center of the campus offers a tremendous view of the flora and fauna that envelops the inside of the campus.
In Namba, Osaka lies the third school which simply known as Phoenix. The school is known of its advance engineering curriculum, offering its students access to the most expensive and advanced technology.
Sprawling with large classrooms and various futuristic activity centers, Phoenix is most proud of its ever-expanding libraries and science facilities. To some, it is a rich and fertile breeding ground of knowledge and learning, but to others, it is a cold, mechanical place, where the mind is valued above everything else.
Finally, Leonair (Leonine to others) located in Chūō-ku, , Fukuoka. Initially planned to be located in Hakata-ku, a little is known on this school since it was the last one to be established. But its students are well known to their hard work, perseverance and unwavering courage.
A grand staircase guarded by two stone tigers located behind the school’s main gate gives a majestic aura to the school.
The schools are surrounded by force shields making them immune to any paranormal plague. Its students were strictly trained in the arts of swordsmanship, shamanism, archery, brawling, science and assassination. Most students can only master one class while only a handful of students can master two or more.
Will these students succeed on defeating the ones behind the world’s foreseen destruction?
All we can do now is pray and believe.

I like the last two lines of this at it was the hook that brought me in. I wonder what they are facing and how each of the schools will be able to sustain their ground against the "threat"

Sacred Gate (SG), Mystic Peak (MP), Phoenix (PH), and Leonine (LN/Leo)... campuses from RAN Online :dunno:
and those specialities...swordman, brawler, archer, shaman/qi gong, scientist/gunner, and assassin... if this really based on RAN Online then there will be lots of chaos and killing especially during PK TIME.... :kekeke:

Leonine Campus?? I hope that the forcefield will not be deactivated and overrun by monsters (Just like in the game) :( :( :(
My favourite class is Extreme.. I like spamming Starfall, Thunder Strike, Split Sword and Cut Stone, 4 instant combo!!! (I'm playing Babyran, Ran's private server) XD XD XD

It's been a while. . . yes this an update, er, but not fully an update. . .
I just returned from Mars to update some of the things I posted a while back. .
this is just some part of the actual draft that I've been working on (in between my short break scheds at work).
I was encouraged to continue this fic but my hands are really full at my workplace. =.=
But till then, hit me with some meteor shower if this is going to be a disaster
Chapter 1 Prologue: Ace Selection Tournament -why don't we just have a Sousenkyo?-
The short squirrel-like woman can no longer hide her excitement!
She’s been waiting for the whole year for this event and promised herself to give her 120% best to get that position.
They were already surrounded not by just ordinary students, but the best students from their sister, but as for the moment, rival schools. The phrase “This is going to be FUN!” is the only thing running in her mind.
“The school’s management is really crazy isn’t it?” she said with a squirrel-like smile.
“You said it right; we already have our hands full terminating those monsters lurking outside. But facing these students? Well, insane would be the perfect word for them.” The tall woman behind her said then patted the short woman’s head.
“Seriously, I know you’re pretty excited, but can you please stop clinging on me?” they heard the pale looking assassin from their front right said to her ‘partner’ while trying to push her away.
“Sugoi! Seeing you acting like that is cute, so tsundere!” the puppy looking brawler replied to her as she is trying to give the tall pale looking girl a bear hug.
“You love birds, please get a room!” shouted the student with protruding chin while the student beside her just giggled hearing some kind of an envious tone from her.
“I’m so much in trouble here” another student told herself and started to shiver. The student beside her smiled showing her cute dimples and hold her hand as if trying to tell her that everything will be okay.
The sudden sound of blowing horns made some of them startled. Finally, this is the time that they have finally waiting for! There are 8 people in the area, but only four of them went up on a huge rectangular arena and got in their fighting stances.
Above them is giant monitor that is now showing a countdown timer.

The tension not only between them but on the audience as well is now building up.

The other four cheered for their ‘partners’.
“Yuu-chan! Don’t do something perverted or else you’ll see arrows flying towards you!” the tall woman shouted.
“Jurina, don’t forget, you’ll need to buy 100 melon pans for me if you lose!”
“Win or Lose, we will be going on a date Sayanee!”
“Sasshi, stop shivering already and please don’t just run away!” the fourth one demandingly shouted making not only the fighter in question but also the other three supporters looked at her while an imaginable sweat drop popped on their heads.

The four fighters started to move, as if trying to read each other’s minds, they all agreed on whom would be their respective opponents. They dashed on two opposite directions in pairs, as they now start the battle to find out who should be the next “ACE”.
Seriously, why don't just have a sousenkyo?

I'm not really good when it comes on writing fight scenes =.=
This is quite challenging since I'm a hard time writing them, but oh well,
Time for me to get some rest for tomorrow, I will have a very long day at work.
The Last Stand Ch 1 A-1: I'm not sure if I'm doing it right ~The Cowardly Wota vs. The Legendary Squirrel~ Arrows vs. Sword
If Love-tan didn’t threaten her, she would have just run and jump outside that stage. She doesn’t want to be beaten almost to death by other students, specially that squirrel who’s chasing her right now, but being chase by summoned souls (which will detonate once contact was made) is not a good option as well.
She’s afraid of ghosts after all.
Even though everyone from Leonine respects her for being a supportive senior, they cannot stop making fun of her for being afraid of ghosts. Indeed, her arrows can pierce any monsters that show threat to their territory, but ghosts, well they are a different story.
Going back to the tournament, Sashihara Rino (or Sasshi as they call her) still couldn’t believe that she needs to face the well-known Oshima Yuko of Sacred Gate. If she wants to get out alive, she should keep her distance from the most fearsome swordswoman and think of a plan besides running, shooting arrows to her opponent and dodging slashes being thrown at her. Who knows what will happen especially now that the squirrel is already pumped up and ready to kick everyone’s behind. But seeing that Love-tan is watching her, playing dead is not a good idea – at all.
Oshima Yuko on the other hand is getting a little bit impatient. Seeing how Sasshi managed to dodge all of her slashes, knocking her off on a close-range distance would be her best choice.
“Yosh, if you keep running away from me like this, then you leave me no choice.” She told herself.
Not stopping on her chase, she parried the arrows that came towards her. After making sure that no more things are flying on her direction, she then pulled her great sword in front of her horizontally and casted;
"Lightspeed". She then suddenly vanished from everyone’s sight.
“Oh my, it seems that Yuu-chan started to lose her patience. I hope she doesn’t overdo it” Yuko’s partner said which earned a glare from the young Leonine shaman.
Noticing that there are no more slashes being thrown towards her, the unsuspecting archer looked back and stopped once she didn’t saw her pursuer. Not letting her guard down, she tried to listen to her surroundings. Hearing a faint ruffling sound, she was surprised when Yuko appeared in front of her with her sword positioned upwards ready to give her a hard blow on the head.
“Jumping Slash!” shouted the swordswoman. Sasshi barely manages to block Yuko’s great sword with her long bow. Visiting Murashige to reinforce her bow was a wise decision after all. But the squirrel’s power overwhelms her. Sasshi gritted her teeth as she tried her best to hold on.
Finally seeing Sasshi’s seriousness, Yuko grinned and kicked Sasshi on the stomach making the archer fly away from their position. Sasshi almost felt that some of her bones cracked after feeling the kick, but she managed to shift her position so that she can land on the arena’s floor with her feet. Sliding a few more meters, she then pointed her bow upwards.
“Arrow Storm!” she shouted and released the string of her bow. Yuko then saw multiple arrows from above but instead of dodging them, she twirled her sword like a baton parrying all the arrows sent by the archer’s skill.
“That’s more like it. I don’t plan on winning by default.” Yuko said as she gets back to her fighting stance.
“Ano, Oshima-san, I don’t really want to fight you. I don’t even know why I’m here.” Sasshi replied.
“Boo! You’re no fun at all! Let’s do this already.”
Sasshi just sighed. She can only hope that she won’t get any scars from this tournament.
“Yosh, back to my hit and run strategy. KAWASU” she said.
Yuko can’t help but smile. Their real fun is about to start.
“Tranquility.”
“Better to be prepared than nothing.” Yuko doesn’t doubt her strength but she doesn’t want to be caught unprepared either. She doesn’t know how sneaky the archer could be.
Sasshi started to run again, still keeping distance from her opponent. But knowing that Yuko casted Lightspeed earlier, this won’t be easy as she thinks.
And then Yuko disappeared from her spot. Sharpening her senses, she tried to guess where the squirrel would show up next.
“Sunken Strike!” Sasshi looked up and saw Yuko descending from above. She jumped up and dodge Yuko’s sword again, but it was a wrong idea. As soon as Yuko’s sword hit the ground, a massive amount of chi was released. Sasshi was then again sent flying to the air.
“Burst Fire!” Sasshi shouted, releasing multiple arrows aiming towards Yuko. Having casted Tranquility, the swordswoman didn’t even think of dodging them. Sasshi’s arrow didn’t even manage to scratch the squirrel’s armor.
“Common, you could do better than that.” Yuko mocked. But she then fidgeted a little when she felt something scratch her cheek. The swordswoman may not noticed, but the archer casted her “Armor Piercing Arrow” when she dropped her guard for a few seconds.
“You little.” Yuko said.
“STARFALL!” Sasshi shouted.
“This time no more playing around.” The squirrel commented as she chases the archer again, this time while trying not to get hit by asteroids falling from the sky.
Sasshi kept on casting STARFALL to keep Yuko at bay.
“You see, you can’t stop me with falling stones and arrows!” she said. Concentrating her chi, Yuko pointed her sword up and shouted “Lightning Strike!”and got a direct hit.
“Sasshi!” Love-tan shouted after seeing the archer struck by lightning.
Sasshi fell on her knees after being electrocuted by Yuko’s skill. But she still couldn’t believe how the squirrel did it. A swordsman doesn’t have enough intelligence when it comes to spell casting.
“You should feel proud since that was the first time I’ve used that skill. It took me quite a while before I can master it. Was it really that shocking seeing a swordswoman casting magic?” Yuko asked.
Sasshi couldn’t reply since she’s still feeling the shocked on her body.
“Ano, no hard feelings Sashihara Rino, but this may hurt a little.” Yuko said.
“Sword Explosion!”
Sasshi just closed her eyes as she felt the energy wave sent towards her. She was then again sent flying but this time she’s totally thrown from the arena, hitting the walls.
Love-tan run towards her direction worried about the poor archer. Even though she wanted Sasshi to win the tournament, well, it hurts her more seeing Sasshi being beaten like this.
“Love-tan go-men, I’m. . no much when it comes to some-one as near as a legend.” Sasshi muttered.
“Baka, don’t speak, I can’t carry you to the infirmary so try to walk with your feet.” Love-tan replied.
She then casted “Sacificial Ritual” and helped Sasshi to stand with her feet and guided her towards the arena’s infirmary.
“Nee, Nyan-Nyan should be like that to me~~” Yuko felt jealous after seeing the two students from Leonine walking away from the stage. She felt a little bad beating Sasshi like that, but this is part of being selected as “Ace”. She then turned around and saw the other two still fighting, guess she doesn’t have anything to do but to sit and wait on who’s going to be her opponent.
"Now, can somebody remind me again why just we didn't have a sousenkyo?"

Eventhough 4 holidays had passed, this was the only time I was motivated to update this.
But I'm not confident with this update either.
Oh well, please judge it.
I might be posting the characters skills so that the other's who haven't played Ran Online would have a slight idea on how it works. Be noted that some skills are quite similar to the others. I might change somethings a bit though.
Please tell me what you think.
Chapter 1 Part B-1: The Ace Selection Tournament: Dreams clashed~ Kissing Monster vs. Shakure Devil ~ Fist vs. Bullet
Her mother once told her a story of on what the world was like before the great catastrophe began.
But for her, that world can now only be considered either as a fairy tale that she wants to come alive or humanity’s long forgotten history that she wants to revive. Winning the ace selection tournament is her first step to bring this world out of the darkness and to free everyone from the misery that the great catastrophe caused.

It seems that the other “Ace” candidates are thinking the same thing as her. She stared on the student with protruding chin while the other grinned at her. This is going to be interesting.

The two dashed away from the other pair. She was looking forward on facing the well-known Sacred Gate swordswoman, but seeing that the older student already chose to go with the Leonine archer earlier, she’ll need to wait for her turn and face her later on, well if she will win against her own opponent.
She’s confident with her strength, stamina and her skills in both fighting and flirting (I hope Rena didn’t read this), but she could also use some caution since her opponent isn’t just talk either.
Yamamoto Sayaka, Phoenix’s number one student. Equipped with her dual electron guns, her marksmanship was said to be next to the great Watanabe Mayu, one of the legendary students. Based on the rumors, Sayaka single handedly defeated the hell hounds that mysteriously spawned on Phoenix Hole causing ruckus in the area.
“Maybe she’s using her chin to hit her targets that’s why she had the title “Shakure Devil”” Jurina told herself while secretly laughing on that sudden thought.
This action was noticed by the other student. She’s not sure on what is happening with Jurina, but one thing she can think of is that the puppy-looking brawler is making fun of her chin and this makes her annoyed.
“You’re quite rude if you’re making fun of my chin”. Sayaka told the brawler.
“Gomen, I never thought that you were that sensitive. I just can’t help myself” replied the other.
“Enough of the talk, let’s do this!”
The Phoenix student made a sudden halt and pointed her dual guns on Jurina.
“Target locked. TEAR BURST!” she casted, pulling the triggers of her handheld guns.
Jurina noticed the incoming attack. But instead of running away from the bullets, the brawler made a sharp turn and face them. She crossed her gauntlets and attempted to block the other’s attack.
“Nothing can pierce on Airin’s created weapons!” Jurina shouted. But as soon as the bullets made contact on her upgraded gauntlets, tear gas bursted from them.

While watching on the sidelines, Matsui Rena cannot help but facepalmed herself after seeing Jurina doing her usual strategy.
“Here she goes again, the do it now think later plan”. The pale assassin said.
“I think that puppy and my Sayaka will be good friends after this” the idol-looking girl said making Rena and the others looked at her.
“Eeh? What makes you say that?” Rena asked.
“That’s because. . . . . “ Rena and the other 2 students waited for her answer.
“I don’t really know” the girl continued making Rena and the others tumble on their feet.
“Hey, don’t just say something so randomly.” Lovetan told the girl.
“That’s not it, I mean, if you both look at them. They both have something similar, I just can’t tell what that something is. By the way, my name is not Hey, I’m Watanabe Miyuki. Milky for short” Milky said.
“Watanabe Miyuki? You mean you’re Watanabe Miyuki? Watanabe Mayu’s twin sister?” The other student from Sacred Gate asked her.
“Hai, if I’m correct, you must be Kojima Haruna –senpai? Nee-chan told me things about you and the others too” Milky said and smiled to “Haruna”.
“She did told us about you as well, on how cute you are and how you annoy her sometimes. I’m quite surprise that you’re actually a shaman.” Haruna said to Milky.
“But, how are you doing? After Mayu and the other’s, d-disappearance?” the Sacred Gate archer stuttered before saying the word. She knew how it felt, losing her friends who she cared about without knowing what happened to them.
“I’m still hoping to see her again and Sayanee promised to help me know what actually happen to her. I still believe that Nee-chan is out there somewhere. ” Milky smiled bitterly.

Back to the arena, Jurina was surprised by the tear gas released from Sayaka’s bullets. The gas eventually filled the perimeter making it hard for Jurina to see what is around her.
“Didn’t see that coming” she said while trying to sense anything. She tried to concentrate, she then heard something fast coming towards her. But not just one.
“Sh*t, hiding from this smoke and firing a lot of bullets is unfair!” she shouted.
“Evasive Dance” Jurina casted. She managed to dodge the incoming bullets using her skill but it seems that the bullets that the other student is firing are endless.
“Gomen Matsui-san, but I kept a promise to Milky that I’ll find her sister no matter what. Winning this tournament is my key to do that” Jurina heard but cannot pinpoint where the voice came from.
Jurina then felt something pointed from her back. She turned her head around and was shock to see Sayaka pointing her guns on her.
“Game Over” Sayaka said as she is about to pull the trigger.
“I don’t think so.” Jurina said.
Force Push! Jurina casted and releasing a powerful wave of energy enough to make the gas surrounding her disappear and throwing Sayaka 10 meters away. Jurina then turned around and charge at Sayaka before she can hit the ground.
“Heavy Punch!” Jurina then shouted and was about to give Sayaka a heavy blow.
Sayaka knew what was coming so she maneuvered her body quickly to land her feet to the ground. She crossed and lifted her guns high enough to block Jurina’s incoming attack. She managed to stop Jurina’s blow but the force actually made her feet sink a little on where she is standing.
She then looked up at Jurina and smiled while the other also smiled at her.
The real fight has just began and this won’t be settled by just having a sousenkyo.

So Mayu disappeared? With who? I'm guessing like the Yukirin and Yuko~ But we'll never be too sure~

Yes, Mayu is a gunwoman/ scientist. As for how she became "legendary", well, we'll see how.

Days passed and I haven't done anything productive.
Just like what I wrote the last time, I'll post the skills used by the characters. I believe that some of the readers haven't played Ran Online yet so it might be useful for them to have an idea what the skills are all about.
I might also post some about this story's Kami-7 so watch out. .

Successfully blocking Jurina’s “Heavy Punch”, both of the fighters smiled and tried to read each other’s next moves.
“Sword Explosion!” they heard someone casted.
“It seems that someone is pumped up and ready to kick everyone out, don’t you think Matsui-san?” Sayaka commented.
“Indeed, so how about we pull back a bit? I’m pretty sure you don’t want to fly out from this arena because of the squirrel right?” Jurina said while Sayaka nodded in agreement.
The two pulled back and tried to endure the energy wave coming from the swordswoman’s attack.
Jurina kneeled and punched the arena’s floor, using her gauntlets as an anchor to avoid being flown out of the arena. The young brawler is being drag from her original position but she tried her best not to lose contact on the arena’s floor because if she did, she can’t end her own fight with the “Shakure Devil”.
On the other hand, calculating how far the swordswoman skill’s range, Sayaka ran away from where Yuko was standing. She then stopped on a certain distance and faced the direction where the wave came from. She then felt the energy wave passed through her in the form of a slightly strong gust of wind which made her calculations correct. Upon turning around, she then saw Sashihara Rino outside the arena and now being assisted by her fellow student, while the squirrel sat down and looked both at her and Jurina.
“She had it hard. Too bad” Sayaka said to herself.
On the other side, she saw the drag marks caused by Jurina’s gauntlets. Seriously, brawlers should learn how to do simple math and not just rely on their strength to do everything.
Suddenly, Jurina disappeared from her position.
“Tsk. She just casted “Light Speed”, pretty clever” said Sayaka.
She tried to calculate where the brawler would appear but it was too late. Jurina was able to land a kick on her left rib that made her guard down for a bit.
Grabbing the opportunity, Jurina then casted;
“Tokkan Punch”. Sayaka was then rained by continuous fist strike all over her body, which she tried to block. Unfortunately, most of the punches hit her hard on the face and stomach. But given the situation she was at, she tried to stay calm and look for a blind spot on Jurina’s almost endless punches.
Jurina was then about to give her final blow when Sayaka noticed a gap on her attack. The gunner prepared to counter, knowing that she still have enough bullets left on her magazines, she then pressed one of the buttons on her dual guns which changed the guns’ colors from shining silver to yellow. She then crossed her arms and shouted.
“Cross-bursts!”
Sayaka pulled the triggers and yellow smoke can be seen coming out from her dual guns as the bullets came out, which surprised the now fierce Jurina. The brawler tried to dodge the shots coming out of the gunner’s dual guns but one managed to hit her chest armor.
Upon hitting the brawler’s armor, radioactive smoke bursted from attack. Jurina quickly held her breath and pulled back to avoid inhaling the toxic element.
While Jurina is doing that, Sayaka kept her distance since she had an idea what the brawler was about to do. She reloaded her guns with her special bullets, immediately pressed the red buttons and aimed at the brawler’s direction.

“I want to see Onee-chan again” the wish the keeps replaying on Sayaka’s mind.

“Milky, don’t worry, I’m one step closer. Good night for the mean time Matsui-san and have a good nightmare” Sayaka told herself.
“Shintendouchi” the brawler shouted which confirmed the other’s theory.
Jurina released a blow to the arena’s floor creating a shockwave enough to disperse the toxic gas. But since Sayaka already had an idea on what the skill was and the range it can reach, the skill didn’t affect her stance.
As the cloud of gas dispersed, Jurina charged on Sayaka. But before she could reach the gunner, something hit her head and created a massive amount of red smoke causing Jurina to fall down and made her consciousness fade and darkness engulf her.
“Ghost Kill” Sayaka then said still pointing her guns on the young brawler.
The gunner took a deep breath before facing the other opponent that was waiting for her.
“She dead?” the squirrel asked.
“Those bullets are specially made to be lethal to monsters, not humans. She’s just asleep and maybe having a nightmare right at this instance”.
“Guess we don’t need to worry then. Shall we start the finale?” the older fighter asked as medics together with Rena rushed to get Jurina out of the arena.
“Let’s end this tournament in style.” The gunner replied with a grinned on her face.
“Now I’m glad we didn’t have a sousenkyou.”

Seriously, I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right - or left. .
But I did achieve some sort of achievement, for the record, this is my longest ever update (@1,251 words) O.o :panic: :panic:
Updated, now time to go to sleep. We currently have a pretty bad weather tonight. I might just have a reason not to go to work tomorrow XD
Chapter 1 Part C: The Ace Selection Tournament: Let’s End this Battle in Style ~ The Squirrel vs. The Shakure Devil~ Sword vs. Bullet
Oshima Yuko is just a few steps away from becoming “Ace”, but unfortunately, there’s one person left who is hindering her from grasping that position.
The Shakure Devil.
But she won’t let the younger student have her way. Yamamoto Sayaka may have a valid reason to win this tournament, but as much as Yuko doesn’t want to do it, she needs to cut off the younger one’s dream to achieve hers.
For the squirrel, becoming “Ace” is not only her dream, it was her. . .
Redemption.
She failed to save her friends in the past which cause her losing 7 of them while another was sent in a deep slumber that not even one person knows if she’ll even wake up.
She blamed herself from being powerless, but this time, she’s powerless no more. She may have failed to save her friends before, but she’ll save as many lives as she can, at any cost.

While the two remaining fighters are trying to read each other’s mind, the crowd behind kept quiet as questions popped out on how far the Shakure Devil can last.
Though they’ve heard about the hell hound incident in Phoenix Hole not so long ago, they’re still doubting if the younger student can actually defeat the squirrel nor par on her skills. Everyone knows that Yuko’s power is at the same level as the Kami-7 and it is either the Phoenix gunner should either choose to surrender now or still try fighting the latter with just 10% probability of winning.
Yuko clenched on her sword tightly without breaking her gaze on Sayaka. Seeing how serious the student is, she’ll say sorry to Mayu’s twin sister later for beating the pulp out of her girlfriend.
Lightspeed.
Both of them casted at the same time. The two disappeared in everyone’s sight bringing their excitement to a whole new level.
Sounds of bullet being blocked by a sword and a spark cause by collision of weapons can only be seen. At some point, the audience will only see the silhouettes of two fighters with the squirrel chasing the gunner while the other stepping back pointing her dual guns to the squirrel and keeping a good distance from her.
With Yuko now getting tired (and bored) from chasing Sayaka, again is losing her patience. Their cat-and-mouse play reminds her of her fight earlier from the Leonine Archer.
“Seriously, I was saving all of the skills that I’ve learn. But never mind.” Yuko told herself.
Sensing that the squirrel is up to something, Sayaka prepares herself from any attacks that the other student is about launch.
Yuko then showed up in the middle of the arena.
Inferno Attack.
Yuko then strike her sword on the arena’s floor. Sayaka not knowing what the skill can do stopped and tried to analyze what is going on. She then felt something moving underneath her. Sayaka stepped back as a tower of pure energy wave exploded a few inches away from where she was standing.
Seeing Sayaka being startled a little, Yuko casted;
Thunder Strike.
Coating her weapon with her aura, the squirrel quickly threw the sword towards Sayaka.
Pressing the yellow button on her guns, Sayaka then casted Cross Burst and launch multiple bullets and tried to slow down the spinning sword but to no avail. Landing her feet back on the arena’s floor, the Shakure Devil quickly dodged the deadly sword by stepping sideways. But as she thought that she already dodged the attack, Yuko then appeared behind her.
Arcane Punch.
The squirrel concentrated her chi towards her right knuckles before releasing it against Sayaka. The Shakure Devil didn’t had the chance to dodge the surprised attack coming from the squirrel and ended up having her body being thrown to the other side of the arena.
Yuko then quickly grabbed her sword (P.S Normally, Thunder Strike is a skill wherein the user combines the power of party member before launching it to the enemy. But let’s try to change it a little, the sword is being coated by the owner’s chi, acts like a boomerang. After being thrown, the weapon eventually comes back to the owner) then charge towards the Phoenix Gunner.
Sayaka tried to stand up while seeing the squirrel charging towards her, but she failed. She then thought maybe it was still too early for her on becoming “Ace”. She then looked at Milky’s direction trying to apologize that it may take her a while to find Mayu.

Seeing Sayaka is in deep trouble. Milky couldn’t do anything but pray as her girlfriend is being battered by the older student. She is tempted to cast “Heaven’s treatment” and help Sayaka but she knows that the other one will be disqualified if she do that. She then met Sayaka’s gaze as the latter seems to be apologizing to her.
Gathering all of her courage, Milky then shouted;
“Sayanee! If you don’t stand up, I’ll go on a date with Momoka!”

Upon hearing her girlfriend say that, Sayaka imagined Momoka having her way on Milky which made her blood boils.
She quickly tried to stand up and pressed the purple button on her guns as the squirrel is not about to launch her final attack.
“See you later Yamamoto-san” Yuko said.
Sayaka just grin. “I don’t think so, I’m not planning to give up that easily” she replied then pointed her guns towards Yuko.
Sword Explosion. Yuko casted.
Rapid Mine. Sayaka casted at the same time.
The two skills met and exploded which caused the arena being engulfed in smoke. Everyone held their breath as they waited for the smoke to disappear and reveal if there was already a winner.
As the smoke slowly lessens, a silhouette can now be seen by the spectators.
Finally, a clear image of the person standing was seen and everyone from Sacred Gate cheered on the new “Ace”. It was none other than the squirrel Oshima Yuko.
Milky the rushed towards Sayaka and held her. She didn’t hold back her tears anymore and cried while holding Sayaka in her arms.
With Sayaka feeling Milky’s tears falling down to her face, she opened her eyes and caressed her girlfriend’s cheeks.
“Gomen Milky, I think finding Mayu-san will take me quite some time” she apologized.
“You don’t need to rush. I believe that you can do that” Milky smiled.
Yuko watched at the two and smiled. She really feels apologizing to Milky right now but she decided not to ruin their moment together.
She then raised her fist and smiled to the crowd.
Finally, the Ace Selection Tournament now comes to an end.

As the students are now cheering for the new ace, nobody notice the two hooded figures watching from shadows.
“I wonder what that human can do now she won the “Ace” position?” the taller figure asked.
“Dunno, but one thing is for sure, they’re certainly finish” the shorter one answered and smiled to her companion while adjusting her bracelet.
“Let’s go back, our Master might be waiting for us” the taller one then said and offered her hand to the other one revealing a similar bracelet she is wearing.
“Hai.” The shorter of the two replie and clings on the taller one’s arm which made her companion feeling a little bit annoyed.
They both then disappeared from the shadows.

Basically, RAN Online have different characters wherein (like most of the other MMORPG game I played) each characters are classified either as Dexterity Type, Strength/Power Type or Intelligence Type (I'm not sure where to classify the Extreme Characters though). And usually, the skills you use depends on the type of character that you have.
I usually use the term hybrid when a character can use skills from 2 or more types except of course if youre character is an extreme one.

Chapter 1 Part D: Assembling the Best
Sacred Gate Main Building B-3, 10:25AM, 1 week after the Ace Selection Tournament
“Ano, Oshima-san may I ask where are we going?” Miyuki asked.
Everyone looked at the squirrel and her partner as they lead the way but no response can be heard from the two. The squirrel is too busy snuggling on Haruna’s arm which the latter only ignores. For everyone, the character that Yuko is showing is definitely far from the serious Yuko that they saw a while back.
No one ever thought that the respected swordswoman can do so much public display of affection towards her partner?
“We’re here” Yuko said with a childish voice as she release Haruna’s arm. The group is now facing a large door that seems to be heavily secured. This door is seem to be made from several layers of heavy metal and two biometric-like devices are attached on both sides.
The squirrel and her partner approached the devices and placed their palms on them at the same time.
After a few seconds, they suddenly heard a robotic voice;
“Scanned Completed. Sacred Gate, Kojima Haruna, Archery Section, Access Granted”
“Scanned Completed. Sacred Gate, Oshima Yuko, Swordsman Section, Access Granted”
“That is Mayu-san’s voice!” Sayaka said.
“That would be normal. After all, she was the one who designed this room. Only selected people can enter, not even the faculty staff has access in there.” Haruna said.
“As expected of my onee-chan. She can do anything” Milky said and smiled at the Shakure Devil.
“Door Unlocked.”
As the door slowly opens, the others shielded their eyes from the bright light coming out from the other side of the door.

Flashback, Sacred Financial Group Main Building, 2:48PM, 3 days after the Ace Selection Tournament
It seems that nervousness was no longer acknowledged by the new Ace and her partner, Haruna as they enter the elevator.
Meeting the Chairman of the company who established the four schools might be scary to others, but for Yuko, meeting her is just a normal routine. Even though how busy the Chairman is, the squirrel knows that she’ll definitely give her time and listen to what she have to say.
She is the Chairman’s daughter after all.
But today is different, Yuko and Haruna didn’t come here to visit, they have a proposal to make. And if the chairman doesn’t approve it, she’ll a find a way to make her acknowledge her plans.
Both girls were silent as they wait for their lift to bring them on the building’s top floor. When it did, they approached the sole door where the chairman’s office is located and gently knocked on it to let the person on the other side know of their presence.
”Come in”
“Excuse us” The squirrel said.
“Yuko, it is nice to see you”. The woman said as she closed her laptop and stands to give Yuko a hug.
“Okaa-san, I’m not a kid anymore” Yuko protested as she tries to escape from the Chairman’s embraced.
Haruna couldn’t stop giggling as she watched the two having their moments. She somehow understands the older woman since Yuko haven’t visited her for months as she prepares for the Ace Selection Tournament.
After a few good minutes, Yuko had successfully managed to break away from her excited mother’s embrace.
“That’s not the way you should act to your mother who’s been worried sick about you.”The chairman pouted and return behind her desk.
“Now, I believe you have something to discuss with me that’s why you came for a visit?” She asked as she motioned the two to get a sit.
“Yes” the two answered.
The squirrel handed an envelope on which the older woman quickly opened. She scans the papers that were contained and gave Yuko a questioning look.
“Those papers contained information of the participants from the last tournament.” Yuko started.
“I’ll go straight to the point. I want to recruit those students and form a new team that will not only protect others like the Kami-7 did, but also to find out what happened to them. Even though 2 years had already passed, my hope of finding them never stopped. I believed that their still out there somewhere alive and waiting to be found.” The squirrel continued as she gave her mother a serious look.
“But what if what happened 2 years ago happens again? What are you going to do?” The chairman asked.
Yuko closed her eyes as she remembers those events.
“Then I’ll sacrifice myself in order to protect them and all of the students.”
The chairman saw the seriousness in her daughter’s eyes. Seriousness that she never saw before.
“Do you think that Minami-chan will agree with this?”
Upon hearing their friend’s name, Yuko and Haruna looked at each other. Sadness can now be seen on their faces as they thought of their friend who has been asleep for 2 years.
“I’m sure that she’ll be able to understand. I hope.” The squirrel said.
The chairman looked at the papers again. She understands why her daughter chose these students to be part of her team. They’re students who are on top of their classes and they also have the potential to be as strong as the former Kami’s.
“Very well then, you can form your team.” The chairman decided.
Yuko smiled as her mother agreed on her proposal.
“You’re activities will be monitored by staffs that I’ll be selecting. If in case that they report any behavior that will affect not only the schools, but for the whole Sacred Gate Financial itself, we will be disbanding your team without questions.” She continued.
“That’s a deal.” Yuko said and gave her signature squirrel like smile.
“Yuu-chan, I think it is time for us to go back and inform the others.” Haruna said on which the shorter woman nodded in agreement.
“I’ll see you later then okaa-san” Yuko said.
“Thank you Chairman Ohori Megumi” Haruna said and bowed down.
“I thought I already asked her to call me mom?” The chairman asked herself as she saw the two exited the room. She then switched her gaze to the envelope that is still placed on her table.
“Team Dragon” The chairman read the words that are written on the envelope.
“ I wonder if they can really handle things?” she continued as she read the names of the students included on the files. She then slid the papers back in the envelope and then placed it inside one of her secret drawers.

Chapter 2: The Past and Our Present~The Fallen 7 ~
As the blinding light slowly disappears, Sayaka and the others opened their eyes and had a glimpse on what was inside the room.
“This place was used to be a storage facility, not until Oshiriko came and modified it to be their headquarters” Yuko started as she enter the room followed by the others.
“Oshiriko? Their?” Sasshi questioned.
“I’m sorry, I mean Mayu and what I meant about “their” is the whole Kami-7” Yuko continued.
“Her purpose is to have the Kami-7 meet in this room and monitor what is happening in our respective schools.”
“Using her drones, she sent them to our schools and to other areas to serve as the Kami-7’s eyes on what is currently happening and to foresee potential threats” Haruna added.
Yuko stopped in front of a huge screen that shows boxes of what seem to be like camera shots in different angles.
The others looked at the screen and saw familiar sights and faces. There are also screen shots of places that they’re not familiar with.
“Drones? Isn’t that against the rules? Remember that all schools agreed on not meddling with others businesses let alone spy on each other” Rena asked.
“Well technically yes, but we seek permission first not only to the each school’s heads and respective student leaders but as well on Sacred Gate Financial itself.” Yuko answered.
Haruna grabbed a card-liked object lying on the nearby table. Remembering how it works, she pressed the button located on the lower right side of the object. A holographic note appeared in front of her. She then read the note that was saved on the device.
“Anai Chihiro-san from Leonine”
“Nakanishi Yuka-san from Mystic Peak”
“Our student leader who is currently under coma, Takahashi Minami”
“And of course,” Yuko walked and stopped in front of Sayanee.
“Yamamoto Sayaka-san of Phoenix” she said.
Milky looked at Sayanee. She’s quite surprise since she knows that Sayanee tells her almost everything. But she didn’t inform her about this matter.
Sayanee hold on Milky’s hand tightly. She gave Milky an assuring look that she will tell her everything later. As of the moment, they all need to know what was on the perverted swordswoman’s mind and why they were all gathered on that place.
“They have all agreed to the Kami-7's request since this is for everyone's security. Now back to what I’m saying, I’m sure that all of you can still remember, that faithful day, 2 years ago.”
The memories of the past went back to their minds, but for Yuko, it was a nightmare that keeps on haunting her. How could that peaceful day suddenly changes and cause grief and sorrow to all of them?

Yuko’s Room, Year 2046, 01:01 PM
Who could have thought that something like this can happen? All seems to be peaceful just this morning but everyone never imagined that it was the calm before an unforeseen storm.
Yuko was almost done preparing when she felt a slight tap on her right shoulder. It was her best friend, Takahashi Minami checking if she’s good to go.
“Judging on how huge that backpack of yours is, you surely are well-prepared” Takamina said.
“Well, 10 sets of health and stamina potions won’t hurt. It isn’t that I don’t trust Kawaei’s skills, better to be ready than sorry. How is your preparation going?” Yuko asked.
“I’ve already sent the two Tomos to check and strengthen our force fields. Yuasa-san had asked Sae to help on Mystic Peak while Ayaka and Fujie on Phoenix. We’ve also sent an order to everyone to stay on their positions and be on high alert. For the starters, well, basically we’ve asked them to stay inside the campus and help on treating the injured.” Takamina answered.
“You’re really great on leading people, huh? Considering a midget like you” Yuko laughed.
“Hey, you’re just a few centimeters taller so don’t call me a midget. But are you and Haruna sure about this? You can leave the mission to Mayu and the others?”
Yuko wore what is supposed to be her sword’s sheath and adjusted its straps. She then placed her great sword on the sheath and grabbed her backpack.
“Even though I’m not part of the Kami-7, I made an oath to protect those people on whom I cared for. And that includes them. So relax, we’ll be back, we still have that surprise birthday party for Aachan to plan on. I’ll see you later President, they might be waiting for me.” The squirrel answered
Takamina smiled and waved at her friend as the squirrel heads out to the Kami-7 Headquarters. But somehow, she felt that this maybe the last time she’ll see her. She then looked outside of Yuko’s window and saw the black clouds swirling on a far distance.
“Whatever that thing is, we better be prepared” she said to herself.

Inside Phoenix Main Building, Year 2046, 01:10PM
“You know, Milky, Macchun and I can go and help you out since they’ve sent Umeda-san and Fujie-san here to help.” Sayaka told Nana.
“Sayaka’s right, besides you’re already old so I think you’ll be having a hard time” Maachun added.
“Hey, who are you calling an old woman?” Nana retorted.
“I can take care of myself you know, besides, it is here were the three of you are most needed. So take care of everyone. I’ll be back once this is over, whatever that is” she continued.
“Hai, I’ll sure tell her that. And onee-chan, *paused please be careful” Milky pressed the end button on her phone and went were the other three are located.
“That sure was a long talk. What did Mayu-san said?” Sayaka asked.
“She told me on not letting you overwork yourself” Milkywinked.
The three of them looked at Milky as she grabbed something from her robe’s pockets. They saw her pull out a bangle made from what seems like different colored cotton strings and beads. She then grabbed Nana’s arm and proceeded on making the older woman wear the bangle.
“Geez, thank you Milky” Nana said, she then raised her arm and adored the well made bangle.
“I was actually planning to give it to you the other day but I was busy with Sayaka hehe. But see? ” Milky and Sayaka raised their right arms while Maachun, her left. “I also made these for everyone, that way you won’t be lonely” Milky said.
“Who’s lonely? I’m actually happy that I won’t be bothered by the three of you while I’m away” Nana again retorted.
“Stop being such a tsundere!” both Sayaka and Maachun shouted.
“Hai hai, well then, it’s time for me to go. I’ll see you later” Nana smiled as she step on one of the teleportation platforms. She swiped her ID card in just above the identification machine and a bright light coming from below and above the platform started to engulf her.
The three watch as their friend was being engulf by the light and a few moments later, it disappeared together with Nana.
“Yossha! Let’s go back to work!” Maachun shouted followed by a faint “Hai” from the others.

Inside Mystic Peak Main Building, Year 2046, 01:15PM
“Nee, are you sure you don’t want Kanon and Yuria to see you off?” Nakanishi Yuka asked.
“As much as I would like to, well, this is better, they might go berserk if I tell them not to go with me. And please tell Jurina thank you for holding out those bakas” Kuumin told Rena.
“I will and by the way, be careful out there Kuumin, Yuki-san said that they don’t have any idea what is causing that” Rena pointed to the black cloud swirling on a far distance.
“I will, and I’ll tell her Kashiwagi-san that you miss her” Kumi said earning a cute pout from the assassin.
“Yo Kumi, are you leaving already? I have not yet given you your bow.” Furukawa Airi then tossed the weapon to Kuumin which the archer thankfully catches.
“Kuumin!” An imaginary sweat drop can be seen from all of them as they saw 2 girls running towards them.
“I’ll go ahead now” the young archer said as she immediately step on the teleportation platform.

Kami 7 HQ, Sacred Gate Main Building B-3,Year 2046, 1:40PM
“Mayu, the others are already here”
Mayu looked back and saw Yuki smiling. She nodded as a sign that she got her message and shifted her attention back to the huge computer screen. The young scientist knew that her theories might be justified once that they’ve encountered whatever causing those black clouds. She knows that any miscalculations might cause her friend’s lives so she must be careful on devising a plan.
Yuki felt her girlfriend’s tension and went near her. She held Mayu’s hands and gave her a loving look silently saying that she’ll be by her side. Mayu smiled and nodded as both of them grabbed their belongings and went out to meet the others.

Good day!
It is more than a year ever since I've updated this fic. I still have the last edited draft that I should have posted months before, but with several issues that I’ve encountered, I never posted it and decided to leave this fic on indefinite hiatus.
As what I’ve discussed to a fellow writer here in Jphip (you know who you are), one of the major reasons why I’m having a hard time updating the fic was when I was still starting to write it, I was just starting to explore 48G. Back then, I only knew a couple of members, most of them are those you can always see on different variety programs. Also, a lot of contradicting ideas, working on nightshift (which really causes me a lot of stress) and graduation announcements (here and there) contributed on the number of reasons I have that made me reached a dead end.
However, dropping the fic was never my intention. I think most of the writers here in the community never wanted to leave any unfinished fics, who does? With the long period of time that this was stalled, it gave me the opportunity to do some “research”. This made me realize that I’m missing out a lot of interesting members and that I’ve been focusing on my oshis at that time.
At this point, rewriting the whole fic is the only good idea I can think of. I’ve also consulted the same writer that I’ve mentioned earlier and he also think that this can also help fix a plot holes on the story. With this, a lot of changes will be made, not only with the characters involved but with the whole story itself. All what is left right now is to find the time to play the RAN Online again to help me refresh my memories of the game.
I’m looking forward for your future comments once the first chapter is posted.
