I'm officially onboard the Aika Love Train. I think she's cute as a button, has a voice that Tsunku should have fun getting the quirky best out of and shows some preliminary glimmers of an entertaining personality. I'm with you, Shaoran -- 2007 WILL be better!

That first thread was made while Aika's welcome thread was active, and did not have an informative first post, and the three replies are all about confusion around the thread itself so tama decided to close it. Now the Welcome thread in Crapola is closed because it was mostly Happy8 bashing against the decision of "only one" that I closed it already and made this one for all fans! ENJOY!

Aika wouldn't be there. Her first H!M is a big event and they'd announce it properly in the previews.
Her first concert however, is set to go sometime today. That should be pretty interesting. I'm sure she'll do well, but good luck Aika!

They probably changed her to using the ones that you only wear overnight, they work quicker and you don't have them in pics.
They were cute, but everytime they tightened she might have a bit of trouble talking, which is no good when you need to sing regularly.

I watched the clip just before catching the bus, and damn, Aika impressed me so much on stage - her expressions when she was singing her line, it felt like she had been performing for ages. Whah. Michishige - Chatty♡ On the way back from a concert I was sitting next to her in the car, and she talked nonstop♡

Hello! I'm from over at mm-bbs.org. And new here at JPHiP, although I've lurked for a while. I used to work on their Hello! Morning weekly subs, and now I just translate whenever I have the time to. As Aika is one of my favorites, I've been working on the Aika x (member) articles. I haven't had a chance to do the more recent ones; only the past two. I'll post them here as I finish.
Mitsui Aika x Kusumi Koharu

Niigaki: How was your first recording of Hello! Morning?
Mitsui: I wasn't able to give a good reaction to the games.
Niigaki: But, your sense for the camera came very easily.. the way you performed in front of it with such dignity and without reservation, I was really surprised.
Mitsui: Oh no, no.. I was so nervous. I held back and was reserved when talking to my senpais, too.. because of that, I was worried I wouldn't be able to express my own appeal, but everyone talked to me and told me just to do my best.
Niigaki: That's excellent! Around the time when I first appeared on Hello! Morning, I was so nervous that I couldn't even say one single word. That was the kind of feeling I had back then.
Mitsui: I'm able to be the way I am because of how kind all the older members are to me. Just recently, Niigaki-san did me a big favor by teaching me the way to use the traditional honorific language, didn't you?
Niigaki: Your manners and politeness are all correct, and your greetings are all done perfectly, but the first time we talked, it was all friendly, wasn't it? (Laugh) Things like "Hey, hey, what is ________?". But after you said something only once and I corrected you, I thought that you could easily become a very capable girl.
Mitsui: Ahh, thank goodness~~ (laugh)
Niigaki: Mitsui-chan, rather than changing your strangeness, you should rather stay as you are because you're good this way, I think. For Hello! Morning, rather than thinking, "Ahh, joining in during this part is bad, isn't it.." , it would be good for you to join in even more fully than today's recording, I think. For me, if we're moving at a fast pace, and talking too quickly, it is alright to join in slowly at your own pace with something like "Umm..".

She might still have them(braces) but in the form of head gear -which works faster and you only wear it at night(not no glare on the photocards or whatever)

I am really impressed with Mitsui lately she just keeps getting better and better vocally. She sounds really good in Shouri no Big Wave and in her solo in bon kyu bon kyu bomb concert!! I believe mitsui is the real miracle member because of her improvement in speak,singing, and dancing. Tsunku made a great choice in picking her I can't wait to her improve more! At first I didn't like her at all. XD I wanted Minami to win the auditions (which reminds me, I'm glad she's continuing to support Aika even though she lost). I was like "She sounds like an old man, what is Tsunku thinking?!"
But she really does have a charm to her. She is like the oblivious new girl. XD She kinda balances out Koharu, since Koharu is relatively new and she's so confident. It's nice to have a MoMusu member that is realistic in the way they act and have a genuine smile like Aika. I'm cheering for her! <3 Good luck, Aika!

I'm really liking Aika after watching Alo-Hello 3!
She's such a good sport, seems to genuinely enjoy everything, and her pouting and other expressions are ADORABLE!! And she's also funny. So yes, :heart: She really stood out to me. Also, I appreciate it that she actually TRIED in the volley ball game.

i've been noticing something lately about her. She's great and all ,but everytime it catches my eye that she is the only who doesnt wear high shoes during perfs/shows. first it was in pepper PV , everyone had high/mid heels, while aika was the only one without,. And then In the cinderella musical , when she was paired up with sayu, she also had flat shoes. I'm sure there were more occasions like this. can't post pictures at work, but i'm sure u can all pay attention when watching clips. yeah i know i sound weird, or i have an undiscovered fetish.

Noone knows why but I'd assume something like a back/hip problem...might be a foot problem but problems with heels are usually hip/back related.

Yeah, it's probably just a case of her not being able to perform in heels. Especially during concerts where they literally have to run up and down stages and stairs.

Aika has a problem with broken off cartilage in the second toe of her left foot. In an announcement on the official site it was said that an operation will be necessary to avoid problems with performances in the future. Aika will be absent at the FC events on 23 and 24 May.

I've always suspected the fact that she doesn't wear heels (or very high ones at least) was health-related. I think it's because of a previous condition? Just not sure if it was mentioned here before or not.

I need to post a retraction.
Since day one of Aika's arrival to MM I hated on her pretty bad. I didn't like her voice or her looks and I thought she was kinda bratty. But after talking with her briefly and seeing her reactions to the fans and the efforts she made to go the distance to communicate with us, I have to say she is a truly professional person and quite nice too. At one point me and some others were waiting past some glass doors after the second autograph session, when the girls walked by and waved to us. Aika made sure to run back and wave again (so cute). And during the breakfast and signings she was very forward with questions and answers as if she really wanted to learn about us foreign fans. She made a special impression on me which changed the way I think about her now. I'm still not a fan of that voice. But I need to apologize for all the negativity I talked about her.
I'm Sorry Aika. You were a real sweatheart!

I too need to retract my opinion of her. I have been making fun of her and calling her jaws and what not. But after the first autograph session, she was way too cute and enthusiastic. During the 1st autograph session while Reina was taking forever to sign my cd. Aika who was waiting for it turned and looked at me and gave me a cute wave. I waved back and winked at her for some reason! She started giggling and said thank you when I got into her turn. :heart: During the last autograph session, while I was waiting in line to sign with MM inside the tent. She saw me again and pointed at me and waved like crazy. I was like "OH sheet, she remembered!" and I waved back at her. What a cutie!

During Tenkei and my interview with them, Aika's energy outshone everyone by far. She was SO nice and SO enthusiastic, and she truly seemed appreciative of us as fans. She's a damn sweet kid, and I hope everyone comes to love her as much as I do now!

I didn't get to meet her personally but all the stories are awesome. And I also noticed how hard she tried to wave at the fans and such through videos and everything. Also during the panel, I really liked her answers and stuff, when she answered for Junjun about the korean movie thing she gained so much respect points. She's a real pro. I wasn't too enthusiastic about her addition to the group, but this chick is awesome.

Seriously, I admit I often wondered why Tsunku picked her in the auditions. Obviously we found out why! In all the Anime Expo reports I've read, everyone has had nothing but good things to say about her. Guess you really have to see her in person to fully appreciate her.

My Aika story:
When she was first selected, I was completely "WTF???" because out of the finalists, to me she seemed to be the one with the least potential for being an idol/singer/entertainer. I admit, I was "WTF WAS SOONK THINKING?" when he chose her over Sumire (whom I thought was the no-brainer choice). Have to admit though, she's grown on me in a "smartmouthed, sidekick little sis" type of vibe.
My favourite thing about Aika:
She has a dry sense of humour, almost like a lite version of sarcasm. She can tsukkomi simply by delivering a line in a completely deadpan tone.

I remember thinking that this was a pretty ambitious song for her to do, considering the added dancing AND the fact that it was completely live. Still, she went ahead and did it anyway, and while it wasn't the strongest perf, she still gave it her best shot. :thumbsup

Got 2 of them, both of which happened during MM appearances on Music Fighter. First was during their promo for Resonant Blue, when King Kong suggested that she be JunLin's "instructor."

The Music Fighter Resonant Blue appearance that I linked to. Aika's little speech about being lonely and jealous (even if she didn't outright admit it) when JunLin got more attention than she did from the other members was definitely unexpectedly real/un-idolish. At the very least it's not the sort of thing that you'd expect an idol/entertainer to publicly admit on TV. It took guts for her to do that, and I found it admirable that she did it.

My Aika story: Aika's been cool with me since she joined, but I remember starting to like her more when I watched Morning Musume Alo-Hello. She seemed really genuinely energetic and enthusiastic about things, and I thought she'd be an awesome gal to hang out with!

Ya know when Tsunku was auditioning girls in Korea, he said he didn't find anyone whom he could almost instantly put on stage. But I think Aika was the kind of girl that he could. When she started she fitted in quite quickly and I remember other people saying that, too. It's too bad that people don't like her for her looks or whatever.

Aww, Aika's so cute in those pictures!! Aika LOVES animals, so I bet she's really happy to spend so much time with dogs.
I love hearing about people becoming more and more of a fan of hers! She REALLY stands out to me and is honestly my favorite thing in H!P since the Elder Club's gone. Even then, she's still among my top all time favorites. She has a really sweet personality and I always love watching her perform.

モーニング娘。８期メンバーの光井愛佳（みつい あいか・１８歳）が５月９日（月）に左足痛の為病院で診察を受けた結果、
「左距骨疲労骨折」との診断を受け、担当の医師とも協議の上、治療を続けながら仕事を行なってきました。
その後、症状が緩和されない為、７月２８日（木）に再度診察を行なった結果、症状持続の為、更なる治療の継続が必要と判断し、
改めて約８週間の安静・加療が必要と診断されました。
また、モーニング娘。９期メンバーの鞘師里保（さやし りほ・１３歳）に関しては７月１６日（土）に行なった「Hello！Project 2011 SUMMER」名古屋公演の終了後に腰痛を訴えた為、
病院での検査後通院し、経過を見ながら仕事を行なってきましたが、７月２８日（木）、 診察の結果「右坐骨神経痛」の為今後約６週間の在宅療養を要すると診断されました。
医師からの診断結果を受け各所と協議をした結果、現在行なっている以下の「Hello！Project 2011 SUMMER」コンサートをお休みさせて頂くこととなりました。
７月３０日（土）・３１日（日）大阪「NHK大阪ホール」、
８月６日（土）・７日（日）・１３日（土）・１４日（日）東京「中野サンプラザ」
＊これによる払い戻しはございませんのであわせてご了承ください。
また、今後予定されている「モーニング娘。コンサートツアー 2011 秋」、舞台「リボン～reborn～（仮）」に関しては、それぞれ今後の加療の状況を見ながら判断していく事となりますので、
皆様には状況が解り次第お伝えさせて頂きます。

Aika, who was diagnosed with a left ankle stress fracture, has been advised to continue treatment and rehab. She will not be participating in the concert tour or the play.
While she officially won't be part of the upcoming Momusu tour, I'm hoping maybe she can surprise everyone on the last stop and perform with the graduating leader.

Well, Aika made it onto the stage for Ai's graduation. I'm sure many of us figured that somehow she would. I mean, she's been close to Ai for a long while now and she always seems pretty determined too so it figures she'd want to be there no matter what.
Of course I'm very sad to see Ai go but at least Aika got to return to the stage after being out of action for so long.

This is actually my first post to Jphip. I have been a long time fan of all things Japanese.
What I was hoping someone here could help me with is where I can buy the photobook and dvd of the uber cute and lovely Aika Mitsui ? Infact as a newcomer I don't know where to begin looking for anyone's photo book/dvd ! :oops:

I actually brought mine from HMV Japan but to be honest I can't find it on either theirs or CDJapan's sites right now.
As for her DVD, that'll be a little bit harder to get hold of. It was an e-lineup DVD and they only sell them for a limited time (you had to pre-order during a specific time period and then the orders were shipped later). The only option is to buy it second hand which you could do if you get lucky. Basically check out ebay to see if any people here in the west are selling the DVD. If not you can check out Yahoo Auctions Japan, but you'll need a proxy buyer to help you to buy from there.

Since it's now the 10th in Japan, it's now Aika's 5th year anniversary of joining Momusu! Congrats to Aika! :D She's worked so hard over the years and slowly become an integral part of the group. It's strange that I still sometimes see her as one of the youngsters of the group even though she's now 4th most senior. To me I guess she'll always somewhat retain that image XD

Yeah, I also always think of her as one of the kids, but Aika is a real vet now....... I think it was the Kanashimi Twighlight PV that will always make me think she is the youngest one......That PV looked like somehow one of the girls had a little middle school sister that snuck on the set, and promised to be good if they would let her take part in the rehearsal of the video..............But she did such a great job, they decided to film with her........

モーニング娘。8期メンバーの光井愛佳（みついあいか）は5月18日（金）に行われる、「モーニング娘。コンサートツアー2012春 ～ウルトラスマート～ 新垣里沙卒業スペシャル」をもって、モーニング娘。を卒業することとなりました。
昨年5月9日に左足痛の為、病院で診察を受けた際、「左距骨疲労骨折」との診断を受けました。本人はモーニング娘。としての活動を続けていきたいという気持ちが強く、完治するまで活動をお休みして治療を続けて参りました。
しかし、今年4月23日に診察を受けた際、「ほぼ完治に近い段階まできていますが、以前のような激しいパフォーマンスを繰り返して行くと、また同じ状態になる可能性もある」という診断を受けました。
今回の診断を受け、会社と本人と十分に協議をした結果「もちろん、モーニング娘。の活動は続けたいが、再発する可能性があるのであれば激しいダンスを多用する、モーニング娘。としての活動は難しいのではないか、また将来的に左足が完治しないとなると今後の生活にも支障をきたす」との考えから、苦渋の決断をし早期の卒業を選びました。
本人にとってはモーニング娘。の活動を途中でやめてしまうのは不完全燃焼の形となり、大変無念な思いではありますが、今後に関しては引き続き治療を続けながらHello！Project内でどのような活動が出来るかを本人と相談しながら決めていく予定です。
ファンの皆様には突然のご報告になります事をお詫びすると共に、何卒ご理解を頂きますようお願い申し上げます。

Apparently her foot is on the way to heal, but the activity involved in being a member would likely injure her foot again, and she must avoid that constant stress on her foot.

That's good to know. As has been said previously, it's likely the constant and repetitive stress that is involved with all of their dance routines which is what they're worried about. She can still remain with H!P and be involved in other endeavours and productions, just not any that require her to put so much stress on her leg.

Aika brought a lot of joy to many fans as a member of Morning Musume. Whatever future role she can play within Hello!Project will be eagerly anticipated by her fans.
But she deserves respect, admiration, and love for what she accomplished as a very young girl when selected to be a member. She faced the same problems that Asuka Fukuda and Maki Goto faced, being quite a bit younger than the other members, and like Maki, Aika was the only member of her generation. But she accepted the challenge and her smile and genki personality overcame a lot of fans to win their hearts.
