I listen to a lot of songs from the 70's & 80's... so even if the thread's title doesn't include those years I guess it's still ok to post here ?

Last days, I've found two interesting remakes of great classics :

Kaguyahime - Kandagawa (1973) :

Takuro Yoshida - Kandagawa :

Awesome cover !

Judy Ongg - Miserarete (1979) :

His Excellency Demon Kakka - Miserarete :

O__O

And now, something completely different :

Mari Iijima - 1g no shiawase :

Mari has one very beautiful voice and is my very first crush in jpop (Macross <3).

Would have been happy to find "Tokyo" by Yazawa Eikichi on Youtube for this post ... as I listen to it a lot those days. ^^

Yeah, any oldies are ok.  The thread title was because that was the dates of the stuff I was posting, but later stuff is fine too.

Ah Kandagawa, yes that's a lovely song.  The one you posted has been deleted by youtube so I found another.  (I like the false ending on this one).

welcome Double8 & xander3! Feel free to discuss your favorites.

came across these oldies, fucking trippy shit. the JACKS!

Hi
I'm new here - great site!

In relation to the above post - here's their album.
Named 13th Greatest Japanese Rock Album of All Time by both Rolling Stone Japan and Takarajima, Julian Cope thinks this is the 42nd best Japrock album in the book JAPROCKSAMPLER. Instead of transliterating the track list I've provided the English track names as they are written on the album cover. This remastered CD edition comes with five bonus tracks, two new songs and three alternate versions of songs released as singles.
JACKS - ジャックスの世界(+5)

   1. マリアンヌ [Marianne]
   2. 時計をとめて [Stop The Clock]
   3. からっぽの世界 [Vacant World]
   4. われた鏡の中から [In The Broken Mirror]
   5. 裏切りの季節 [Gloomy Flower]
   6. ラブ・ジェネレーション [Love Generation]
   7. 薔薇卍 [Bara-Manji]
   8. どこへ [Where?]
   9. 遠い海へ旅に出た私の恋人 [Love]
  10. つめたい空から500マイル [500 Miles From The Sky]
  11. この道 [My Road]
  12. からっぽの世界 (Early Single Version) [Vacant World (Early Single Version)]
  13. いい娘だね (Early Single Version) [Lovely Girl (Early Single Version)]

Tanaka Yoshiko: 1956-2011
« Reply #154 on: April 21, 2011, 06:16:54 PM »
Sad news: Tanaka Yoshiko, a member of the Candies and actress of considerable breadth, died on Thursday of breast cancer.  She was a young 55.  Heck, she'll ALWAYS be young and 20-ish.

Sayonara, Su-chan....

thanks to youtube poster 16BIT48KHZ- here is info from his post: Former Candies member Yoshiko Tanaka dies of breast cancer at 55
Yoshiko Tanaka, a former member of the 1970s female pop trio the Candies, died Thursday of breast cancer at a Tokyo hospital, her husband said. She was 55.
Tanaka, whose real name was Yoshiko Odate, was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 30s and underwent surgical treatment, but the disease repeatedly returned, said Kazuo Odate, her businessman husband, who held a press conference at the hospital.
Tanaka was hospitalized last fall after falling ill. She was then temporarily discharged but was hospitalized again in February, Odate said, adding that her condition rapidly changed Thursday morning.
