Title: The Good Deals thread
Post by: chera on October 19, 2006, 12:26:13 AM
Let's fill this thread with good deals on technology and other stuff we buy.

I just ordered an OEM 250GB SATA drive for $58, including shipping.  7200 RPM and 8MB buffer.  6 month replacement warranty.  Find it here: http://3btech.net/whlamadate252.html (http://3btech.net/whlamadate252.html)

At 4.3GB/$, that's the best hard drive deal I've ever seen, even better than the 300GB/$75 deal (4.0GB/$) I got a few weeks ago from here: http://www.supergooddeal.com/White_Label_300GB_7200RPM_SATA_16MB_Buffer_p/wl300f0sata-r.htm (http://www.supergooddeal.com/White_Label_300GB_7200RPM_SATA_16MB_Buffer_p/wl300f0sata-r.htm)

That looks like a tigerdirect rebate to me. I'm not sure how bad tigerdirect.com is, but tigerdirect.ca rebates always get "lost" so in the end you will never get the rebate cheque. You might as well just wipe your ass with the cash and flush it down the toilet. At least that way you would've put the money to good use..

I bought an 7900GTO and overclocked it to 650/800MHz (7900GTX clocks) and the card is identical to the GTX model (pcb, cooling..).

Thanks for the warning, amuse.  Unfortunately, I just bought it :(    I'll let everyone know how it goes.

If you've waited a few weeks and still didn't get the rebate cheque, keep calling and emailing them about it. That's the only way to make sure they send you the cheque. There's a chance they'll send you the cheque without you bothering them but it's a slim chance :(
