Amidst all the drama, something beautiful happens...Ahh that's awesome, shirenu... tumblar is full of happy people they've replied to. One of the perks of having some extra time as sadly neglected idols, I suppose. But I think it's a great way of building a fanbase. I really hope it pays dividends.

Well, what sucks about liking a smaller (indie?) group is that even if you want to support them by buying their stuff, you can't. :lol:I'm sure that someday you'll be able to buy Crayon Pop merchandise! At that point, Shirenu + Ellin = shellin :heart:
Rookie girl group Crayon Pop have sold out their Japanese mini-concert in just under an hour!
The girls made their debut in Japan prior to promoting in Korea. They’ve been featured as endorsement models for various cosmetic, such as Coco Blue, and beverage brands. To keep their popularity going, the members of Crayon Pop have decided to open a ‘Crayon Pop 2013 New Year Mini Concert‘ in Shibuya in January.
The concert will be a part of their upcoming Japanese promotions, and it’s off to a good start as tickets for the concert sold out just an hour after going on sale. Fans who weren’t able to purchase the tickets made enough requests to make concert directors consider adding another date.
Chrome Entertainment stated, “We’re all surprised and grateful due to the unexpected support Crayon Pop have been receiving in Japan for their mini-concert. We’re planning on adding another concert date filled with fun stages and honest talk times, so that people can fully grasp Crayon Pop’s various charms.”

Two weeks ago, rumors began swirling of a possible Crayon Pop comeback. Looks like there was truth in those rumors as Chrome Entertainment has just released the group’s first comeback teaser.
Chrome revealed the above image with the tweet, “Here is Crayon Pop’s comeback concept teaser” earlier today. No other information was provided leaving fans to fret about when exactly the girls would return.
Especially since the last teaser mentioned ‘Summer 2013′, we can’t be sure just how soon this comeback will be, though it looks like the girls won’t be returning with another cute song. The girls look to be ditching their trademark ’bright colored tracksuits’ for what appears to be opaque stockings. Thus, he possibilities of a sexy concept are high.
Will you miss the cute, spunky Crayon Pop or are you looking forward to their sexy transformation?

Big Announcement!Interesting...
According to Chrome Ent. CEO’s twitter, Crayon Pop will be gaining a new Japanese member!
The new member, who’s name I translate to be Arisa, will promote with them in Japan only. For Korean comebacks, Crayon Pop will promote as a 5 member group but they will work with 6 members when in Japan.
So far he has revealed that she is 24 years old and will be revealed to the public as early as Crayon Pop’s 3rd Japanese Concert on May 19th.

Crayon Pop's agency clarifies "We joined Ilbe to research girl group information"This is some CCM-level management right here...
Chrome CEO released a statement. I'm still getting rough translations but he basically said that he did create an account but more for marketing and audience feedback purposes. He has accounts on other sites as well that he uses for the same purpose just to gauge feedback of a song. Since he runs a smaller company, he doesn't have the funds for feedback groups and audience polls so he has to do this to gauge response.
Apparently you can't mention Ilbe even if you are laughing at them... :roll:
Funny thing is all the netizens up in arms obviously go there as well. :lol:

130708 DC Inside Interview
t/n sections in brackets [] are paraphrased either because of awkward direct translations or just generally struggling with translating it in full. these sections may admittedly contain slight mistranslations.
dc user names have been omitted.
Q: Standard question: do you know DC Inside?
Ellin: Not really, is it a digital camera? I just know that information comes up on it.
Q: In the beginning it was a digital camera site, but now it’s a community site. Through Galleries, entertainer’s fandoms become larger. (t/n awkwand sentence but basically it’s saying that fandoms for entertainers/celebrities grow through the use of various galleries.)
Crayon Pop: Ah~ We don’t really use the internet. We only use Twitter occasionally.
ChoA: Do we have a gallery there, too?
Q: (laugh) Not yet. However, right now the reactions are growing bigger. There are people requesting galleries, as well. It’s been 22 days since first starting activities for “Bar Bar Bar" but only barely a week since there’s been such a quick response. Do you get that sense?
Gummi: The first time we went out wearing helmets for ‘Bar Bar Bar’ we felt that the concept was a bit burdensome. But the fan-named ‘5 Cylinder Dance’ has gathered a lot of talk, [so we are looking at it as an opportunity].
<photo>
Q: Like your helmet fashion, the ’5 Cylinder Dance’ is also a unique concept that DC users say fits well with you. How did the dance come to be made? (DC user ‘—’)
ChoA: At first, the ‘5 Cylinder Dance’ didn’t exist. If you look at the lyrics, there’s a ‘jumping~ jumping~ yeah!’ part. The jump put in by our choreographer was just that the five of us would jump contrary to each other, and this is how the beginning idea of the dance was formed. We practiced it like that and began thinking “should we put in hand gestures?" in order to create more of a contrast. Just like that, the dance was created.
Way: At first, we called it ‘The Jumping Dance’ or ‘The Mole Dance’ (t/n mole as in the animal). We never thought the fans would name it the ‘5 Cylinder Dance.’
Q: The ‘helmet’ concept came out during practice, too?
ChoA: We talked about the helmets before the song came out. We knew a lot about the costumes before we knew the song. Since the concept this time was important, we had a meeting about it and I thought of the idea. A feeling like the 5 Eagle Sisters? I wanted to express a feeling on stage like those legendary heroes (t/n i have no idea what this is referencing).
<photo>
Q: You should have just said ‘Super Sentai.’ It seems to have captivated the mania level of those who like that kind of thing. [Since you have a Japanese feel], a lot of reactions are coming from Japan. How is it?
Way: We’ve been told that we have a Japanese feel since early in our debut. Maybe because we’re so peculiar? If you look at Japanese idols, there are a lot of groups with unique concepts. So is that why? I don’t really know. Maybe because we give off a charming feeling?
ChoA: And we’re short.
Ellin: [Just because we aren’t tall doesn’t mean we’re short.]
Way: It’s because we don’t wear heels. Compared to other groups we look short. We just wear sneakers.
Q: [In the early days of your Japanese promotions, looking as if you were from Japan, did you do activities]?
Way: We did promotion, PR, and mini-concerts periodically. [It wasn’t that we did activities to pay for our albums since it was to the degree of about once in a month].
Q: So will you promote “Bar Bar Bar" in Japan as well?
Way: Rather than promoting only “Bar Bar Bar," in the future we plan to have activities for our Japanese album.
<photo>
Q: Looking outside of the office (t/n as in, on the walls of Chrome Ent), gifts such as placards from foreign fans catches the eye. Do you have a lot of foreign fans, too?
Way: We started with having more foreign fans than Korean.
Soyul: From watching YouTube.
Gummi: Maybe from our promotions in Japan, but even before debut Crayon Pop fans first came from Japan.
Q: Since “Bar Bar Bar" debuted, many people have taken notice of you. This time [a lot of the talking seems to be coming from communities], don’t you think? It seems it will be different than when you first did activities for ‘Bing Bing’ and ‘Dancing Queen.’
Soyul: While doing guerrilla concerts for ‘Dancing Queen’, we slowly started gaining fans. They also gave ‘Bing Bing (Remix Version)’ a lot of love. Prior to ‘Bar Bar Bar,’ honestly the members worried a lot. We were confused. But people really [seemed to like us]. Nowadays, it seems we’ve slowly started to realize that on broadcasts and during performances you can hear more shouts (aka fanchants) than before and more people are following our dance.
<photo>
Q: From the time of the first album’s activities to this time’s ‘Bar Bar Bar’ [it all contains something you didn’t want to do]. The training suit fashion you showed before and the dances, it seems like it was all put in ‘Bar Bar Bar.’
Gummi: Yes. [Wearing skirts in the training style, we couldn’t be like other girl groups]. Though, from the time of ‘Dancing Queen,’ our name was known because of our unique concept, we did abandon it a bit. This time for sure we’ll harden (our skin) so it’s ok to wear training suits, but because we had a dance that was unique we didn’t want those parts in ‘Bar Bar Bar’ to go in. (t/n: a bit confusing, but what she’s saying here is that, since they knew they were going to have unique choreography, they wanted to either do the dance or wear the training suits, but they didn’t want to do both. as a compromise, they abandoned the training suit concept a bit by adding skirts but not completely because it’s how they originally got their name known.)
Q: While doing activities, is there a song you have become most attached to? (DC user ‘—’)
Gummi: I really liked Dancing Queen. Wearing the training suits wasn’t a bit embarrassing.
Soyul: For me, the memories I have of Dancing Queen are [of the song and that the clothes were so comfortable]. It seems I liked the Dancing Queen period the most.
Way: We’re all the same.
Ellin: [It was almost like Dancing Queen was our job]. It was when our unity was at it’s best. It was a hard time, but we grew a lot.
ChoA: It was a time when our fans increased a lot. We did a lot of guerrilla concerts.
Ellin: Right, right. We lost a lot of weight, too. Haha.
Q: (laugh) You lost a lot of weight?
ChoA: Because of the training suits. (laugh)
Q: Others noticed as well. Because of the clothes, the pressures of dieting don’t exist so it seems like it’d be nice. Even now you shouldn’t manage (your bodies).
Ellin: Right now, each of us is dieting and managing ourselves.
<photo>
Q: Now is the time when everyone knows this concept and it’s fine, but wearing training suits on stage during ‘Dancing Queen’ seems like it would have been too embarrassing to stand. What was the first stage like?
ChoA: In my case, I needed huge amounts of courage. ‘Saturday Night’ was our first promotional cycle and we wore clothes just like all the other girl groups. Even though the training suits were our idea, wearing them during activities [made us stand out too much]. Haha. When the five of us were together we were ok, but going to the restroom alone was a bit embarrassing. (I thought) ‘should I just stay in the dressing room?’ But when we were onstage just singing and dancing, I was ok.
Way: Though I was embarrassed on stage, too, I was fine until right before going up. Other people kept giving us strange looks. I suddenly had thoughts that we all looked too similar (t/n she was a bit embarrassed because they were all wearing the exact same ridiculous outfit). But during the dry rehearsal, suddenly the staff began cheering for us. Getting a standing ovation like that, I suddenly gained courage and was able to stand (on stage) with confidence.
Q: Then how was the first stage wearing ‘helmets’?
Gummi: That time seemed like the best. Music Core was our first broadcast, right. I wasn’t shy wearing just training suits, but wearing helmets was so~o embarrassing.
Way: Unni was really so embarrassed. We knew it, too. It’s the experience of the training suits (t/n meaning, they’ll feel embarrassed as long as they’re wearing training suits). Again, in the dressing room we weren’t joking around. We expected to get strange looks. But this time again staffs and other singers gave us a standing ovation.Because of that, we gained courage.
Q: It seems like even other singers like you guys.
Crayon Pop: Please like us. We’ll anticipate your support.
Q: You’ve come out this time with your names in your costumes. How many sets do you have like this?
Way: This concept has 4~5. We have about 15 training suits total.
Q: Do you have a favorite training suit outfit?
ChoA & Way: I/We like the Orange suits that we wore in the early days.
Ellin: I don’t feel feminine in those, so I like the ones we have now with skirts.
Soyul: For me, too, it seems like the members look prettier in the ones we have now than before.
Gummi: I like them both, but I still have memories of Dancing Queen’s Lime Green training suits.
<photo>
Q: It seems like the members have a lot of affection for ‘Dancing Queen.’
Crayon Pop: Yes~
Way: It’s because we couldn’t do activities for a long time and we regret that a lot.
Q: If activities had been better before, we may have had a chance to see those older songs on stage more. Your school uniform fashion really made you look younger than your age. I was really surprised when I found out your ages. (laugh)
Gummi: Maybe we looked younger because of our concept. We’re older than you think. Haha.
Q: How did you all come into Crayon Pop?
Way: I was the very last to join. I knew the company because ChoA was a trainee and she asked me “Do you wanna audition?" but I was already promoting with an indie band and I told her we were about to release an album. So she joined the group and later, when one of the member spots opened up, I joined with her.
ChoA: I took a leave of absence from college at age 22 in order to audition and train, and then I ended up in Crayon Pop.
Ellin: I got in through our choreographer.
Soyul: I joined when I was 21. I was the very first to join. I was the first to join along with Gummi-unni so we’ve done a lot of missions. (laugh)
Gummi: I didn’t come with any specialties, but on different days I would go to a dance school and I was introduced (to the company) through acquaintances I’d met there.
Q: I heard that Crayon Pop was Hurricane Pop before?
Way: Ah, that was before I joined and it was the other 4 members and one other member. That person left, I joined, and we became Crayon Pop.
Q: I’d heard Soyul promoted with 2 other groups.
Soyul: When I was 20, there was one project with a Japanese producer. Before becoming a singer, I did art and it was that time that I began to seriously sing and dance.
<photo>
Q: Do each of you have positions you’re in charge of in the group?
Way: I’m in charge of the mic. I also do vocals and rap, as well as talking during broadcasts.
ChoA: I’m the main vocal
Ellin: I…dan..ce…
Q: Haha. Why did your words fade out.
Ellin: Honestly, at first I couldn’t dance well. But it looks like the other members could.
Gummi: [Only Ellin’s dance has always had this feeling]. She’s in charge of sexiness and femininity. A woman like a chameleon. Haha.
Ellin: Thank you. (laugh)
Soyul: I’m in charge of sub-vocal and dance.
Gummi: I’m a sub-vocal and dancer, too
Q: Right now, you’re all living together? Are there any inconveniences?
Crayon Pop: Yes. We’ve lived together for almost 2 years. There’s nothing inconvenient. [We even use separate rooms].
Q: How are the rooms divided?
Gummi: Us three together (Gummi, Soyul, Ellin), and ChoA and Way together.
Gummi: Because all of our personalities are easy-going, our dorm is a very comfortable place.
Q: From each member, tell me about the other’s shortcomings. Should we talk about the person next to us?
Gummi: Soyul’s vir~tues? Haha.
ChoA: I don’t want to do shortcomings. Lets just say good things.
Crayon Pop: Hahaha.
Gummi: Firstly, Soyul has no pretense. She’s very meticulous and thorough. And cute.
Soyul: It’s good if we only say merits.
Gummi: Really. And even though she’s the youngest, she’s better than us (the unnis) at packing.
Soyul: Ellin unni’s…vir~tues? Haha
Ellin: (laugh) I have a lot. Say it.
Soyul: Ellin unni is really enviable, I’m very sensitive to that side (of her). But she’s really optimistic and does everything with a positive outlook.
Ellin: Is that it?
Crayon Pop: Hahaha.
Soyul: There’s a lot~. That’s just the best of your virtues.
Ellin: ChoA listens really well. If you’re worried about something, [just tell her your problems and she’ll listen].
ChoA: Way makes decisions very well. She’s very smart. And overflowing with confidence.
Way: I’m overflowing with confidence?
Ellin: You do have a lot of it.
ChoA: That’s like the absolute best virtue. Unlike my twin, I don’t make decisions very well, so when Way says “Do this!" I just do it.
Way: To me, Gummi has the best personality. She’s a pacifist. She’s positive and optimistic and she takes care of everyone like a caring mother. She’s kind. She’s good at cleaning and organizing, and is neat. I’m envious of her.
<photo>
Q: Then should we say bad points now? What are ChoA’s cons?
Way: She can be a bit prickly. She’s straight-laced.
Gummi: Way is a bit like a man with her mood-swings. She has a bit of that feel. However you look at it, it won’t end well. (laugh).
Crayon Pop: Haha. This is fun.
Q: Won’t you split up later and fight? (laugh) This time, what are Soyul and Gummi’s cons?
Soyul: (Grabs Gummi’s arms) Eat just a little. Unni.
Gummi: Ah~~ak (laugh)
Crayon Pop: Haha. She is a bit greedy for food.
Gummi: I know. Though these friends like to eat, too, but when I eat first it all goes in “just one bite."
Soyul: She doesn’t [leave anything]. She really eats everything. But even though she eats more compared to others, she really doesn’t gain weight.
Q: What are Soyul’s shortcomings?
Ellin: I don’t have a younger sister. I only have a younger brother so I imagined a younger sister would have a lot of aegyo. I thought it would be good to have one, but our Soyul doesn’t have enough (laugh). It seems I have a bit more..
Soyul: [It’s embarrassing for me to do aegyo in front of unnis that I have a bit of an age-gap with.]
Ellin: Rather, we are more comfortable expressing aegyo than Soyul is.
<photo>
Q: Ellin’s shortcomings?
ChoA: Her optimism is a virtue, but it’s also a vice. She drops things. Among us, she’s the most clumsy.
Q: ChoA has a lot of male and female fans, right?
Way: Yes. That’s right. During ‘Saturday Night’, she only had female fans. From ‘Dancing Queen,’ it seems she’s gotten more samchon fans.
Q: Watching ‘Bar Bar Bar’ stages, I noticed the (male fans) song along. Is there a particularly memorable fan?
Gummi: They all have distinctive personalities, so we remember everyone after they come once or twice.
Way: They have a lot of talents, too. They show us dances. Not too long ago, they gave us candy [and we were able to feel their affections].
Ellin: We have couple fans, too. [One couple told us what happened when they went to a train-station in Chuncheon] (t/n Chuncheon-si is a city in Gangwon-do). Crayon Pop’s music came out and they started cheering.
Q: In DC Gallery, there are a lot of posts trying to distinguish the twins from each other. Is there a hint you can give? Something the members use to tell you apart?
ChoA: There’s something like this. It seems the members can tell just by looking. The biggest difference is that I have dots on the sides of my face (t/n meaning she has bad skin, not that she has beauty marks).
Way: And hairstyles. I have long hair because hers is shorter.
<photo>
Q: Even though it’s nice that two sisters are together, do the other members ever feel uncomfortable?
Crayon Pop: Not at all.
Ellin: They’re twins, but they aren’t that similar and act more like friends. Because of that, the rest of us are friends, too.
Q: Way did an indie band (N.Dolphin), and also instructed at a music school? You can write lyrics and compose, too, so is it possible for us to hear a song you’ve made in the future?
Way: I attended music school while I was in the indie band, and I had the opportunity to write and compose on the single album (we released). Not too long ago at our Japanese concert, I had the opportunity to sing a song I wrote and composed. It would be show it in Korea, too.
Q: I understand that Gummi is the leader.
Gummi: Honestly, I’m known as the leader but I’m actually more like a caregiver. We have no leader. Since each of us does well at leading the group in their own way, we’ve never needed one.
<photo>
Q: Is there a variety program Crayon Pop would like to go on the most? (DC user ‘—’)
Soyul: More than anything, it’d be nice if we could come out on music shows frequently. After that is Running Man or Infinity Challenge?
Ellin: Ah. I really want to go on (MBC’s) Idol Sports Championship. It seems like we could do well.
Q: We/I will anticipate a special album this Chuseok. Since you’ve started, you’ve done many guerrilla concerts so it seems like there would be some hard points.
Gummi: It was ok to stand in front of so many people, but because it was winter it was so cold. However, unlike the stage, guerrilla concerts allow us to show a different color and it felt good to gain that experience. We have a lot of good memories.
ChoA: [There’s a lot of pictures of our guerrilla on the internet while we were going through Myungdong, carrying a panel] (t/n the ‘panel’ they’re referring to is the giant sign they carried around between performances). If we had worn shiny clothes like other singers, people would have known “Ah, so they’re a girl group." But we wore training suits, so a lot of courage was needed.
Q: People didn’t know you at all at the time, so it seems like it was was model PR.
ChoA: Yes. Then we added a panel. We made another one that said, ‘We are a girl group.’
<photo>
Q: It seems to me that your fans’ affection for you grew after seeing how hard-working you are. Do you recognize being called ‘Subsistence Idols’?
Crayon Pop: Yes! We do.
Q: It’s now been about a year since starting activities. [Was there a most difficult time or situation]?
Ellin: It seems ‘Dancing Queen’ was the hardest time. However you look at it, other singers are appearing on music broadcasts but we were doing guerrilla concerts. We had thoughts like “Why do we have to do this?" and were really upset.
ChoA: In the music programs, there was a time when we wore nametags over our clothes. With our hoodie pulled tight (over our head), it really stood out. At that time, our hearts were heavy and all five of us together, while holding hands, decided “If we bite the bullet and be more entertaining, we’ll be given more love. Let’s be shameless."
Q: Why do you think that was the most difficult time? Because of your different clothes? [Do you no longer have these kinds of thoughts]?
ChoA: Since there’s a flood of idols right now, we were anxious about how we could do well. Will peculiar clothes be enough? Though we haven’t been justified (in our methods), we did have feelings of being burdened.
Q: Then can you tell me about the happiest time since you’ve started activities?
ChoA: Recently, we had the largest amount of fans ever come cheer for us. Right now, Crayon Pop is coming up on the most fans we’ve ever had. Slowly, our fans are increasing without stopping and their voices are really loud while recording, (so) I/we feel the most happiness and strength (because of that). After our broadcast ended, the fans threw a small event for us and I/we were really happy.
Q: Having a lot of bold choreography, are there any parts that reflect the members’ ideas or feedback? Are there any parts that (were) actually made (by the members)?
Soyul: In the ones we have now, there’s the kicking and the lonely dances (t/n both are in ‘Dancing Queen;’ the lonely dance refers to Soyul’s part in the chrous). Our choreographer creates the framework and our comments fill in the rest. Of the dances we’ve done until now, ‘Bar Bar Bar’ seems to have the most contributions from us.
Way: ‘Bar Bar Bar’ had the longest preparation time and there was a lot of trial and error, so it’s a big relief that it came out good.
Q: Is there a girl group member that any of you have been able to get close with?
Way: So far there isn’t. None of us have cellphones. We only see them when we’re greeting them at broadcasts and we can’t contact them. While filming we have gotten friendly with a few.
<photo>
Q: If you weren’t a singer, what would you like to do? (DC user ‘—’)
Way: I think I would have gone into a business. Costuming?
ChoA: I still would have attended school. I studied acting and it seems like musical theatre is something I can’t forget.
Ellin: I was a fitting model before [and that’s something I didn’t think I’d fall into doing again]. I’d be a magazine model.
Soyul: I studied art and was preparing to become an art teacher. Even now, I’m interested in art and want to learn more.
Gummi: Before starting activities as a singer, I did management for hair. When treating hair loss, it was my job to separate hair follicles. I would probably still be doing that while studying fashion.
Q: I see that you’re doing a free Nationwide Tour event. [Are there any particular areas you’ll visit from the variety of applications]? How will the stage be decorated/set up?
Ellin: I think there’s going to be a lot of provinces. The people who live there don’t have many opportunities (to see us). The exact plan hasn’t come out yet, but it seems the tour will happen after ‘Bar Bar Bar’ activities. This will be our first show in a long while, [so to make sure a lot of people can come], we’ll probably end up doing guerrilla concerts here and there around the cities.
ChoA: In areas where the stage is prepared, [it will be possible from time-to-time to hear some songs that were remixed].
Q: Do you have a role-model among girl groups?
ChoA: There are none from girl groups. Our role model is PSY-sunbaenim.
Q: It seems you dream of being world stars?
ChoA: Yes. Haha. We do dream of being world stars.
Q: Up to now, you’ve only done dance songs. Is there a different genre you want to try? (DC user ‘—’)
Way: Since we’ve only done dance until now, I want to do ballads and various other genres. Our concept right now is unique, and people make look at it as comedic and fun, but that’s only our appearance. There are other genres and concepts that I want to show.
Q: Girl groups do a lot of individual activities, too. [There must be some that each of the members wants to do].
Way: I really want to MC a variety program. I’ve also had thoughts of being a radio DJ.
ChoA: For me, I want to act. And I really want to do a musical.
Ellin: I’d like to do a variety sitcom. I also would like to do a school drama like Monstar.
Soyul: I’d like a CF that fits my character. I think something like ice-cream would fit well with me.
Gummi: I want to do CFs a lot, too, and if I get the opportunity I want to act.
<photo>
Q: As the last (question), tell me the personal goals you have individually and as a group.
Soyul: My ultimate goal is to do more activities for ‘Bar Bar Bar’ and for more foreign fans to appear, and also do more overseas concerts and really become a World Star like PSY-sunbaenim. My personal goal is for Crayon Pop to do well and work hard so that later we can freely do whatever we want to do.
Gummi: Crayon Pop has to do well first. Then it would be nice if I can do whatever I’d like without regrets.
Ellin: Crayon Pop growing even more is my biggest personal goal; individual activities should (only happen) once Crayon Pop is talked about more because earlier we mentioned things like acting, variety, and working in self-(management), [and it would be good if those things came after our activities].
ChoA: It would be good for each of the members to shine because of their individual talents. Personally, I want to repay all of the people who have helped me in the past. I also want to help others who have the same dreams as I do.
Way: (For) Crayon Pop to learn a lot of things. Before, even though I said I want to DJ and MC, I don’t know a lot of other things (/talents) (t/n implying here that she’s not good at anything other than talking). I also have a desire to show a different appearance.
Q: Please (record a) video greeting our DC Inside users.

Crayon Pop revealed they were just as surprised as the public when their hit song "Bar Bar Bar" started up the beginning of a dance craze and topped music charts in just a year since their debut.
ChoA dished on her group's surprising success, "Whenever our ranking rises, we were surprised and said to each other, 'Uh, uh, uh, what is going on?' When we entered into the top 10, we kind of felt it. It's amazing and touching at the same time as we reminisce about the things we went through in the past."
Gummi shared, "Right after I woke up, I found out that we were #1. Immediately after waking up, the kids told me, 'Unni, we placed #1 on the music chart,' and I was so happy I don't know what got into me and I screamed in joy. It was so hard to believe that you don't know how many times I had to check it."
ChoA revealed, "Our CEO told us that if we achieve #1, he would give us a '3-day vacation,' but since we have so many things in our schedule these days, we're unable to go on vacation as of yet. We will save it for later."
Way, ChoA's twin sister, also shared, "#1 [on a music show]? I think that won't happen anytime soon. We are already thankful to everyone for our level of our success right now. A deal if we reach #1? We've never thought of it before. We would have to discuss it with our CEO [laughs]."
ChoA added, "Ah! There is one thing that our CEO promised our members. When we first debuted, our cellphones were confiscated, and he told us that he would return them to us if we reach #1 on a music show. There's still a long way to go until we can get it back."
Way also hinted on their follow-up song and shared, "Our follow-up song will definitely be a more exciting song than 'Bar Bar Bar'. You should anticipate not only our new song, but our visual and choreography concepts."
Soyul said, "Although we got a lot of love because of our choreography this time, we hope that we receive interest and love for other elements besides our choreography for our next promotions."
[KMDSubs][ENG] 130808 Crayon Pop - On to the King Stage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sococxJXuA#)I ended up buying the game they played XD. It was only $10 bucks on Amazon so I thought why not it looks fun. Haven't received it yet though
The rookie girl group talks about the viral craze that took their "Bar Bar Bar" single to No. 1 on the K-Pop Hot 100 and what's nextVideo in the article
To stand out among the tons of K-pop girl groups making waves this year, there seemed to be only two options: Either ooze sexiness with skin-barring outfits and pelvic-thrusting dance moves or stay sweet with fluffy skirts and repeated camera-winks. Most girl groups took the former option, and made some noticeable impact, but without any long-term success.
Then came Crayon Pop, who flipped the scene with the unthinkable. Neither sexy nor cute, they were, intead, straight-out absurd. Their breakout single "Bar Bar Bar" is centered around a dance move called the "Straight-Five-Engine Dance" and a unique stage ensemble of big bicycle helmets and eye-popping tracksuits. It's helped the group become one of the most talked-about acts this year. The quirky concept has inspired parodies and dance covers all throughout Korea and, thanks to its viral success, the song has finally landed on the coveted No.1 spot of K-Pop Hot 100.
The five members -- Ellin, Soyul, Gummi, Choa and Way in their signature helmet and tracksuit getup -- sat down with Billboard for an exclusive video interview to discuss their sudden rise to fame, new record deal with Sony Music Korea and what to expect from their hotly-anticipated next single.
"In the beginning, we weren’t sure [about our popularity] because we would go straight to practice after our daily schedule," says lead dancer Ellin. "We found out about our growing popularity when people started telling us 'You guys are really popular!' That’s when it started really hitting us. We can also tell by the amount of video covers coming up on the Internet lately."
With their latest single's music video and choreography now generating global attention, the group recently landed a deal with Sony Music Korea, raising questions about the possibility of their debut beyond Korea.
"We don’t have concrete plans to crossover and debut in a foreign country as of now," the group says. "But we really, really want to meet our foreign fans that have been supporting and loving us."
(Page 2 of 2)
The girls -- ranging from ages between 22 to 25 -- have a large fandom of men in their 30s to 40s. They say it's because they are like a breath of fresh air in K-pop.
"There's even a new epithet called 'Pop Guys,'" explains vocalist Way. "It's used for older men that like us. We have a lot of fans that are in their 30s. We heard we are like a rejuvenator for working men that are restless from the corporate life because of our bright energy."
There are some that doubt Crayon Pop will be anything but a one-hit wonder, but the girls are out to prove haters wrong with their highly anticipated follow-up track in September in the hopes to quiet down all doubts.
"Our next track has been selected, but not the concept," the group reveals. "I think a lot of people like us not only for our uniqueness but also for the fact that they receive fun energy from watching us. So I think [our next concept] is going to be fun which will go well with the funky track."
So Crayon Pop is going to be in Los Angeles this weekend, at least according to their schedule at their fansite. KCONUSA is also happening this weekend...and they recently hinted that a colorful girl group is going to be revealed. Sounds like it could be Crayon Pop as it fits their schedule so perfectly. Now I dunno if I should get tickets or not @_@.

It's a pretty bad photo, even for my phone, but it's probably the least of several other blurry evils:
(http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac34/Deft-Monkey/K-Pop/WP_000327.jpg)
First of all, with a 50% essay due tomorrow, a 60% essay due Monday and a 30% exam on Wednesday, this was the most expensive free event I've ever been to (that opportunity cost...) but it was really worth it :thumbup I wasn't meant to go see them, but my boss messed up my roster and ended up keeping me on for today and removing my shift for tomorrow, so I decided it was the universe giving me a sign.
I have to say, my previous experience with K-pop in real life (Sydney KMF 2010) was that it's not too different from everything we see on fancams, music shows, etc. ChoA and Way were kinda like that, but Gummi, Ellin and Soyul really stood out in a way that I just haven't seen in videos.
They performed Bar Bar Bar (they even did an encore, "for the first time EVER," exclaimed the host :P) and Dancing Queen. I assume they were good, because the sea of camera phones pretty much blocked my view. The various glimpses I got of Ellin and Soyul were great, though. I have to say, it was pretty impressive hearing the crowd's fan chants. As in all the videos I've seen, it was mostly guys :lol:
Afterwards was the fan signing. Now this might sound harsh, but every photo of Ellin (to date) is awful. They just don't get close to portraying just how insanely beautiful she is. She had to do incredibly little to gain a lot of attention during the signing. I'd be looking elsewhere and then suddenly my eyes would be on her, without even knowing how it happened. Ah, the times she looked and smiled at me (or in my direction, I'm not fussed), I melted. She has one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen. During the signing event, I saw a few small children going up and both Ellin and Soyul loved them. Soyul would play a little with their hands, but Ellin full-on grasped their little hands in hers and was shaking them all about. I was a little concerned for the children :nervous Jealous, too.
Gummi is amazing. I feel like I've never really seen her until today. She really dishes out the fan service. Also, boy, when she smiles at you, just try not smiling back. It's one of those smiles that make you feel happy. When I got up to the barrier, I was about 2 meters away from Gummi (she was the closest to me) and she immediately started waving and smiling. Girl knows how to play the game :smoke: I also conversed a little with her silently through gestures, haha.
Soyul did a few poses throughout the signing, but she seemed pretty quiet all up. Though there was this time where we made eye contact and she leaned to the side for a photo past someone on the stage who was blocking the view. It's a shame I didn't bring a camera that wouldn't let me down... :doh: Like I was saying, she seemed especially excited by small kids like Ellin. Her face really lit up every time a child came up to her (or was about to).
I didn't see much of the twins, as they were almost always blocked by people getting their stuff signed. That said, all was not lost!
When I went up, I got high fives from everyone (except Gummi) which was good fun. I got a simultaneous twin five from ChoA and Way and that was neat :thumbsup Then I got up to Ellin and almost lost my shit being so close to her. I'm pretty sure I forgot how to speak. She said "Thank you" and flashed a smile, almost completely putting me out of action. I somehow mustered the willpower to raise my hand and ask for a high five. Sadly for Gummi, I was still in shock from Ellin and forgot to even ask. That said, she seemed a lot more enthusiastic in terms of engaging. I just wasn't able to say anything to her because I was still trying to find where my tongue run off to :sweat: Finally, Soyul :whistle: There's just something about that girl I really love. I feel like there's this huge disparity between the personality that we see off-stage/in real life and the personality we see when she's dancing. It makes me wonder whether she's really into the whole idol thing (like other idols at least pretend to be), but that just makes her more interesting.
As a side note, it's a shame, but I didn't get to have my JPH!P t-shirt signed :mon ref: They were only allowing people to get Crayon Pop albums, posters and helmets (because apparently some people had those) signed. That said, I feel like I should've tried anyway, because I saw the guy in front of me getting his iPod and Galaxy signed by Soyul.

OMG!!! Soyul clutching it out! That last battle! Soyul vs that comedian girl. Since this was only a Crayon Pop cut it didn't really show that the comedian girl was pretty much just owning people. So, I wasn't too sure on Soyul's chances but I believed! hehehe

Lady Gaga@ladygaga
I'm excited to announce June 26 through July 22 of Lady Gaga's artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball will be opened by CRAYON POP! http://tinyurl.com/mvbbkv2 (http://tinyurl.com/mvbbkv2)
Crayon Pop to Open for Lady GagaHmm even if you're not a fan of Lady Gaga, getting a cheap seat to see Crayon Pop might be worth it if it really is a 30 min performance!
The five Korean girls who swept the K-pop scene last year are about to have another taste of fame.
Crayon Pop, whose music video of the song “Bar Bar Bar” went viral on YouTube last year, will open for Lady Gaga on her North America tour, which begins late June and runs for about a month, the chief executive of the group’s label said.
“The girls didn’t believe it at first,” Hwang Hyun-chang told The Wall Street Journal. “In February, Ellin (one of the members) had written down as a wish, during a TV show, that she wants to be famous enough to perform on the same stage with Lady Gaga.”
“Fans are buzzing that her dream had come true,” Mr. Hwang said, adding that the release of the group’s official first album has been postponed so they can join Lady Gaga’s tour.
A tweet on Lady Gaga’s official Twitter account announcing the Crayon Pop news has been retweeted more than 7,500 times. Lady Gaga has 41.1 million followers on Twitter.
Mr. Hwang said Crayon Pop’s act will last about 30 minutes. The girls will do the popular “Bar Bar Bar” song, where they jump up and down in a straight line mimicking the movements of a five cylinder engine. The group will also perform its soon-to-be-released song, “Uh-ee.”
Out of the 4 pics that I took of Crayon Pop...this was the only decent one @_@

Crayon Pop September Comeback Confirmed.. First Full Album Since Debut
Crayon Pop will make their comeback in September with a full album.
It is said that they began preparing for the new album as soon as they arrived in July from the 3 month long ‘artRave: The ARTPOP Ball’ North American tour with world star Lady Gaga.
This album will be Crayon Pop’s first full album 2 years and 2 months since debut.
Chrome Entertainment said on the 5th, “The members are in the midst of recording and practicing choreography, aiming for a September comeback. We are putting much effort into, not only the music, but all aspects as it will be the first full album. Crayon Pop will soon be back with their unique color. Please look out for them”.
