(Group) The AKB48 Thread
« on: February 18, 2007, 03:59:48 PM »
I couldn't find a thread for this group so I thought I'd start one.

I've enjoyed their 2 recent singles, hoping for an album soon.

I still can't recognise most of the members though! I think the lineup gets 'shuffled' for each single...

AKB48 are nothing near as good as Morning Musume but I guess Morning Musume had pretty humble beginnings too, so maybe in time AKB48 can grow into something more.

Has anyone seen/bought either/both of the recent live DVDs they released? I'm interested in buying them but they cost over 6000 yen each... waiting for some positive comments or previews before I purchase.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing other's opinions, both positive and negative, about AKB48.

I personally LOVE the girls.  Ever since their 'debut' single, I fell in love with their adorable vocals and snappy tunes, especially since I was a huge Onyanko Club fan.  I've especially been loving the songs that weren't released (yet) - they have such a classic idol feel but with a modern spin.

You can actually hear pretty much all of their songs from the upcoming 6 albums at their official HP in the song section :

http://www.akb48.co.jp/song/

As much as I'd love to buy all 6 of their albums, there's no way ;;;  I'll be lucky to afford one at this point.

So they are releasing 6 full-length albums on the same day? That is insane... and then 2 weeks after that they will release 6 full-length DVDs on the same day?

There are gonna be alot of flat-broke AKB48 fans in March...

I would say that their manager is crazy but I guess he knows what he is doing. Their manager is the same guy that 'created' Onyanko Club isn't he? Or is that just an internet rumour?

I used to think there was too many girls in this band but I guess if you combine all the Hello! Project girls there is about the same ammount (if not more)... since I can differentiate all the H!P girls then I guess I will learn to do the same with AKB48.

Where did you download it from?

Thanks.

I want to check it out so I can decide whether to buy it or not... 6000 yen is not cheap.

I've known about this group before their debut but never really go into them. Most of them aren't really that cute either >_>  I really liked their latest single and PV though, even though it was kinda ecchi  Yeah they're alot like onyanko club, even more so than H!P.

Yeah, some of the camera work is pretty suspect... what the hell is the 'meaning'/'story' of the video? For me it seemed like the main girl is a prostitute? Or am I misunderstanding it?

Their image hasn't really 'solidified' yet I guess... each single seems to have a totally different sound. The videos for each song are completely different too. I guess each single is made by a completely different producer, as oppossed to Morning Musume who always have the same team team of musicians/engineers/arrangers for all their songs.

I kinda like them. Heck I'd say their releases are a lot better than MM's at the moment. Their cheorographer is the same old ugly hag that also works for MM if you didnt know.
And they actually have more than 48 members divided into three groups.

Yeah! I like them too!
I enjoyed their singles and can't wait 'till their album release.
But guess what, they are playing shows everyday and there is a messy thing that you got to be aware if you want to go there. Women and under-18's entrance fee is 1000 yen, but adult men have to pay double, 2000 yen to get in there. I don't see why...
Anyway that is not their fault, probably their marketeers' so I support them.

lol maybe it's to try and keep Wota away, and entice more female fans into coming?

I think most of their fans are "Wota", so they go no matter what.
Maybe they want to have more female and young fans rather than "Wota".
How sad is that?
