The balls shown in that line were shocking to me at first, when Morning Musume was new to me - this came from a teenage girl band, from a country that not long ago was close to World Domination, but had succumbed to a Lost Decade. After all that, to still say that your future will be the envy of the world! A Japanese who said something like that at that time must have been viewed as either a hopeless optimist or just plain dumb. But hopeless optimism is why I've always loved Morning Musume.

Kaori is Koi no Dance Site goes "Sugoi" with a blank face and no feeling. Perfect for her.
Maki's "Konbini ga suki" and Nacchi's "Iketenaize" in the Peace.
Mari's 'Junjou' in Osaka Koi no uta. yeah...

I feel sad everytime I hear it.
And almost everyon'e lines in Love Machine feel like they belong to them.
