okay this is personal but hehe i'll tell you.

I'm applying for scholarship for Japan universities. And for foreign students at least they have to be in N4 level (it  can be called by Yonkyuu) there's 4 level ikyuu/N1, nikyuu/N2, sankyuu/N3, and the lowest yonkyuu/N4. Which is you should able to read and write at least 500 kanjis (my sensei said) (and i still can do 2/5 of it T__T) the test is on June. It's kinda hard actually, ever heard about TOEFL or TOEIC? its like english standards...its the same as japanese here  but well i have Japanese subject in my highschool and its kinda fun. first you learn hiragana and katakana characters...and then for advanced learning, you start learning kanjis thats it.
