Title: Person loses job over "vulgar" website comment. Comment moderation gone too far?

Seems like a person who posted a "vulgar" comment on a news site got told on by a bored journalist resulting in losing their job. They call it a "resignation" but I think what really happened was the headmaster confronted the individual gave him/her the option of resigning instead of having their name publicly disclosed because I don't think a person would "resign on the spot" so easily unless there was some sort of threat issued.

People post vulgar comments all the time on the internet. There are probably far worse that have been posted on that website. Why could they not have just deleted the message and ban the IP? Why go out of your way to tattle on one particular person? :?

Damn. Totally the fault of the news site. Talk about thin-skinned.

I wonder what the comment was?

Last Friday Stltoday.com asked readers to tell them about the strangest food they've ever eaten. Within a few minutes a commenter responded with "a single word, a vulgar expression for a part of a woman's anatomy."

Ah. That doesn't help it make any more sense.

It's also not going to create a lot of trust for their paper.

No sense?  Well the guy sounded like a bit of a facist with nothing better to do but report people.  He could have just banned the ip.

I just tried posting "pussy" as a comment to stltoday and it never appeared on the page. XD
