Not directly related to wrestling, but rather, proof that there's more to wrestlers than just their trunks (or in this case, more than just his mask).

Hey, it's the WWE Network!

http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/8/5289714/wwe-launching-24-7-subscription-network-to-bring-wrestling-to-your

$10 for access to the PPVs? That's enough for me. But access to their library is a huge bonus.

One of the first new shows that they're looking to pimp on their new network. Sort of like an older, male version of "Divas"? :P

WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young Passes Away at Age 90
By Mike Chiari (Featured Columnist) on January 14, 2014

WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young, who will long be remembered as one of the most successful and enduring female wrestlers of all time, has passed away at the age of 90, according to a press release from WWE.com:
Quote
WWE is greatly saddened by the news that WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young, beloved member of the WWE family and oldest living squared circle personality, has passed at the age of 90.

Johnnie Mae Young was truly one of the greatest female competitors to ever lace up a pair of boots. A proud competitor for three quarters of a century and valued part of WWE to her last day, Young truly blazed a path for future female grapplers beginning in the 1940s.

From the moment she first stepped through the ropes, Young established herself as one of the most active and successful female Superstars – including becoming the first U.S. Women's Champion, carrying out one of the most storied rivalries of the time with the legendary Mildred Burke in 1954 and being among the first female competitors to tour post-war Japan.

(...)

The entire WWE Universe offers a standing ovation to a true queen of the canvas and bids Mae Young a heartfelt farewell.

Interesting read. Personally I was rather surprised just at the fact that they were allowed into N.Kor. at all.

So a buddy and I went to the Road to WrestleMania show as the tour was in Winnipeg last night. Match results here, for anyone who was interested/curious:
- WWE Live Results (3/7/14) – Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada [WrestlingWorld.com]
- WWE Live Event Results – Winnipeg 3/7/2014 [DailyWrestlingNews.com]

Overall, the quality of the matches that they had was really quite good. Best match for me was the 6-man tag match with The Shield VS The Wyatts. Don't know about the rest of Canada, but folks here in Winnipeg like The Shield, and you could tell that there were a couple of times that they were chuckling that we were treating them like faces. Hell, Rollins even stayed behind a bit after the match to high-five a bunch of kids.

Only stinkers, IMO, were Batista VS Big Show (dull, boring, made you feel like you could go take a piss without missing anything important), which they had Batista win by a lame count-out, and the overall "bleh" divas tag match (Bellas VS Aksana and Alicia Fox). For the divas match, they played the "audience participation" card by asking fans in attendance to tweet their choice between having a regular tag match or by having a "divas dance-off" (results showed the dance-off only got around 1/3 of votes).

Best part of the night, IMO, was that some (possibly drunk) idiot sitting at ringside, who happens to be a DJ on a local "hard rock" radio station, decided to actually take a swipe at Batista and ended up getting kicked out of the event. It should be noted though, that the radio station he works for is one of the sponsors for WWE whenever they're in town, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was planned.

And of course, someone else was able to snag a pic of it (this was before any swings were taken).

NEW DETAILS ON BATISTA’S INCIDENT WITH DJ OVER THE WEEKEND
Posted by DailyWrestlingNews.com on Monday, March 10th, 2014

As noted, Batista was involved in an incident at ringside with local radio DJ Cam Carson at WWE’s live event in Winnipeg this weekend. It was believed that the incident was planned as Carson’s employer was the main local sponsor for the live event. According to a fan in attendance, the two began arguing before Batista’s match against Big Show. When Batista turned to enter the ring, the man hit Batista in the back. This caused Batista to shove him back int his chair. Carson tried hopping the rail but security stopped him and talked to him. After the match, Batista flipped Carson off, which led to Carson trying to hop the rail again but this time he was escorted out by security.

Word is that the incident was not planned by WWE and that Carson was intoxicated. He was legitimately escorted out of the building by security after the incident.

A mother of two kids wrote to Carson on Twitter and said that they were trampled on during the incident. She noted that her 11 year old son left the arena with a limp and was forced to sit on the bench during his local playoff hockey game the next day. Carson apologized to the mother.

^ I remember listening to the Steve Austin podcast with William Regal and they alluded to that Steamboat/Savage match at WM3. They both talked to Steamboat about that match, but never said what Steamboat told them. That might be it.

I enjoyed watching this interview. Also, were those shots at AJ at the end?

I agree on why Lesnar got it, but if the plan was to make him a heel forever this is a pretty good way to do it.

Also the Raw after WM was all kinds of fun.

Speaking of WM, here is Peter Rosenberg with a bunch of WM interviews. I'm making my way through them myself, but when Daniel Bryan records that radio bit, I love that he looked around before he started the YES! chant
