First JPH!P reinvented the forum, and then the Chat Room. Then in October 2005, JP HiP rewrote the streaming online radio script with JP HiP Radio. Doing it OUR way. Not just some server playing songs on a loop, HiP Radio is Radio FOR The People BY The People. Just paste this URL into your favorite media player:

Inspired by the impact Ongaku! Project (http://ongakuproject.com) and Hello! Ongaku Radio (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=470) Listening Parties at the JPH!P Chat Room had on our HiPsters, who looked forward to the mix and blend of music and humor each week at the Hello! Ongaku Radio Listening Party. Now HiP Radio gives every forum member a chance to be like a Tris-chan or Rei-chan or suki-chan or Kuno-chan and rule the airwaves. As they say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And if you haven't listened to Hello! Ongaku Radio, be sure to tune in Saturdays 9:30 EST at its new location: HiP Radio on your Internet Radio Dial.

What's the qualifications? Just be yourself, have music/whatever to play, a mic (optional), and winamp, and stuff!!

I'm good for Wednesday, since I don't have class that day... maybe an hour in the evening or even during the day if I'm around.
I probably won't be doing a lot of talking during mine unless I'm home alone, because my family already thinks I'm nuts and I'm sort of self-conscious of my speaking voice. But I promise to play lots of jpop, kpop, and the odd musical song and of course every day I'll be opening the show with "Nobody Cares."

Yea, we're gonna have to pre-record. Instead of having everyone do their lines in the script however, i want to have just one file and pass it around, but maybe not everyone can get the software required. We have to find a way to make the sound fx too :lol:

wrt multiple DJs, i am pretty sure skype can work. in fact any voip system should work, just need to find one where the latency is low enough not to be a distraction.

So I play the stream, and it starts buffering every few seconds. Now, I thought it was a buffering problem, so I increased the pre-buffer and buffer underrun, but it's still the same. EBC tried streaming it to me through a lower bitrate, but that didn't help either. H!O on radiofreemars is fine though, which is why I find it so weird.
Any of you smart people wanna assist me on this? Really pisses me off :lol:

I could host tommorrow all day (like noon to 7 pm EST) and then Saturday, all day (except for a hour). I could also do tonight and tommorrow till 3 am or start at 5 am (if I can wake up).

I'm pretty sure me and harlock are cool about the weeknights. I got 12:00am to 1:00am, and he's got whatever time he wants after that. He was telling me earlier that he's not really gonna spend all that time. Something like, those are the times he's available. It's up to Zero_ and him to work whatever else out.
Another thing, I'm trying to get a timeslot for reruns of my show that will be played by my ghost friend. I think he will record it and play it at that time, but I'll wait till everyone's schedules are set up properly.
Also, impersonations? You mean when we do our dramas? Haha... Seems like we got lots of plans eh?

WORD...thanks for setting that shit up. What's the max users? Everyone's getting involved and only cements the community vibe with all da cats here. Gotta get PIMPING HiP Radio s'more. And YEP. The idea of rerunning everyone's shows is SOLID. Say, like 12 hours after airing. So people in mornings can hear evening shows and vice versa.
That saying. I'm gonna steal 1600 - 1800 GMT. 1200 - 1300 EST. The HiP HoP Hour(s)...feat. Masa and daigong.

I am PUMPED about the enthusiasm...hope to get more user feedback from OUR own forum members! Seeing y'all variety in shows and getting peeps involved makes us all proud. :D
It is pretty hard to make a show so props to everyone for keeping listeners entertained. I keep forgetting about the radio drama. What other ideas, themed shows can we have?
I was thinking of ripping off "Combat Zone" .. or "TRL" on the local music channel ... like a single (preferably new) faces off with a other new single and listeners vote which one they like. at the end, they play the song everyone voted. and the next day, the song keeps going against other new songs ... the song that wins gets a max. of 5 days before being "retired" - this is a good way for us to feature radio rips of new singles, etc.

I'd love to host my own oldies show on JH!P Radio. I have a huge collections of music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's that I would love to share with everyone. Good songs are sort of useless when you have no one to share them with!
I would need something on a Thursday night so it could fit in with my work schedule.
I have enough music to do special tribute shows and things like that as well. :D

I'm interested in hosting a Japanese Rock-oriented show on wednesdays, before, or maybe after suki's show. An hour I suppose, GMT 15:00-16:00 or 17:00-18:00.
I'm new to radio hosting, so hook me up with whatever I need. I'll pester the veteran hosts in IRC in any case in case I need any help. I'd be just playing music for now, unless I feel like getting a mic and talking about legs for an hour.

Ah, always fun. Playing with getting ezstream setup now with the info you sent, only hiccup was the test files I had sitting around were DVD rips->wrong frequency -_-; Fixing that right now, will let you know if I have any problems with it otherwise.

Yep. Winamp is best cuz I never tried WMP. but Real works too. I'm Canada so dunno how ahead I am :D
No real qualifications to be a DJ, besides software + get active! but I see u have already :D get in the HiP Joint and chat with the other HiPsters. get on IRC and talk to the radio vets, THE place where we have Radio Listening Parties for each show (the reason for this is in case some guys ask to be a DJ, got the login, and never return.)

Okay guys.
I've decided to start my own show, but mine might be a tad different. Is it okay if I don't do "live shows"? I'm usually asleep by the time a lot of people on the forum are awake (especially in the US), and I can't do all that Easter Standard Time or anything. I also have the weirdest schedule over here sometimes.
So I was wondering if I could do taped shows, where I record it and just air it on the time-slot I'll be assigned to? It'll be just like a regular radio show, except recorded in advance.

Personally, one of the biggest things that trap me when I do a prerecorded show is that I keep on rerecording my "Jock Talk" parts over and over and over again, cuz I'm never satisfied with how it sounds. I guess I always feel that it sounds too fake, and too scripted.
As far as developing things like a theme song, and crossfading tracks with your voice and stuff, Adobe Audition (formerly known as Cool Edit Pro) will be a huge asset. If you can get a hold of ProTools however, use that instead. I'll definitely help you out with anything you want to inquire about. If you want, just ask, k? Its really easy, and the more creative you get, the more fun it is!

I never really took the time to check this out before, but last night I was browsing The RIVE and I thought it would be nice sometime to check out Masa's show. So I kind of kept that thought in the back of my mind.
Anyway today I am in the office...it is Friday and the day seems so long and the work never ends...and I'm fading out from the long week. I thought wouldn't it be nice if I could just have some good back ground music to get me through the afternoon.
Then I remembered the JPH!P Radio show. I said I got to get this up and running. I downloaded and installed WinAmp on my Laptop and put in the URL: http://radio.jphip.com/playlist.pls (http://radio.jphip.com/playlist.pls) into the player......:w00t: ....the next thing I hear from my headset is Rika and Biyuuden, then Gocchin...Ayaya...Tanpopo...Momusu....now Kaorin is streaming into my ears!!!! :D

I just want to add a little additional story to my last post. So as I mentioned I listened to HiP Radio from about 3:00pm to 6:30pm at work today. The set list that played for that time was amazing!
I was so excited I had to tell my buddy about it (we were chatting on MSN). I live in Toronto, ON Canada :canada: (finally get to use this smiley) and he lives in Portland, OR USA. He is a good friend...have known each other for 10 years.
I have been trying to educate him in the ways of H!P for the last few months. He has always taken the position that it was just some kind of perversion that I had with young girls and he had no interest in hearing the music.
Well I was so impressed with the HiP Radio show and the streaming quality that I kept raving about it. Eventually he asked me how he could listen to it too on his computer at work. I told him to install Winamp and gave him the HiP Radio URL.
Next thing you know he is getting into it. Telling me how his wife by comparison is getting him to listen to Chinese music and that H!P stuff is not bad and he wish he could understand Japanese. He even pointed out to me that he recognized :heart: Rika's name when her name appeared in the playlist :lol: (she was doing a solo of Morning Coffee...he's knows about Rika because I have shown him pics).
For every artist I told him a bit about their history and their nickname.
In the end he was quite impressed. He listened for at least 2 & 1/2 hours to HiP Radio. :cool:
I think he respects my taste in music a little bit more (he basically said that) and was impressed with the variety of music in H!P.
You guys have no idea (or maybe you do for all I know) how big this is to have a close friend finally acknowledge that there might be more to H!P and your devotion than just young pretty girls...shiet...who am I kidding...all that matters is the young pretty girls...( :oops: did I just write that?.. :ROFL )

i have been thinking about it for awhile and i think i would like to try and have a show and hopefully not embarress my self too much possibly around 8 or 9 pm centrul time if possible on thursdays... perhaps another day if things go ok on thursday.

I have some experience, with audio editting and have made audio productions in the past as well.
I love japanese music but i do not have that much japanese music but also have a growing collection of world, jazz, blues, classical etc. if that would help.

Welcome aboard the train that is JPH!P Radio! I'm very curious as to what you can do, and hearing how your previous experience can assist you. Radio is very timely, and any experience you have with any kind of audio editing and public speaking will definitely be one of your biggest assets.
Have a look at the schedule, which you can find at http://radio.jphip.com/ and choose a timeslot that you'd like. Unfortunately, it hasn't been completely updated, so you may or may not get the slot you want. Just let us know first, and we'll ensure you get a timeslot that works for you.

Ayayan, welcome back to the radio. I hope your new equipment can give you the confidence you were missing the first time around. Remember that any of the current hosts are always willing to help you out if there's any questions you may have, or are seeking some advice on being on air, or whatever.
Unfortunately, I've got some bad news for you. The time slot you've requested has been reclaimed by Rei-chan's show, which had dibs on it for a while already. But you can always choose another slot, and let us know and we will get back to you.

It's not very difficult to get started on JPHiP Radio at all. :) All you need is a working soundcard, Winamp, a broadcasting plugin, some MP3s and you're ready to roll! ^o^
The only major thing that seems to vary between those of us having shows on the radio is whether or not we can talk through a mic and have music playing at the same time. Even if you can't, it's not a huge deal. Can always switch between music/mic inputs with a click of a button :) Pre-recorded shows are, of course, always welcome.
If you're still interested, give us a shout via PM with the details of the timeslot that you want and we'll help you get started ASAP. ;)

I've been look for something like this to stream on my blog. This sounds really good and I'm going to bookmark it and add it.
As for buffering, you might want to check your settings, but it's not really a MAC or PC thing, more likely it's the speed of your internet connection.

Does the timeslot have to be used every week and just generally how does it work(like programs and everything) ^^

What it takes is how much time you have ... the software setup is a piece of cake really. Gimme a set schedule (like ___day, ___ hour) The format is up to you too. Can be all talking, no talking, etc. etc.
