If you want info, just google the band. google.co.jp would probably work better for japanese bands. Some bands have sample music/videos in their sites. I also find youtube a great way to check out a band. Search in english, and japanese. If you like vk, there's lots of sites dedicated to it. If you want some underground bands, audioleaf is a great japanese site.

for english info, just look in any j-music related forum. wikipedia or wiki.theppn has info on lots of japanese artists. Want to know some lesser known mostly non-vk bands, check out IiNihon(link in a sticky in this forum). Though it's not updated regularly >_>

Jpopsuki is the best tracker there is for Japanese music. If they don't have it, search on some P2P program. If that doesn't work, just ask around. I recommend soulseek as a good p2p where you can search for music, and ask people in a chatroom.

J-rock is such a broad catagory that I can't really give you any details. If you really want to find different bands to listen to, you can't really just look in a couple of places.

The best resource though, is actual people, so if someone mentions a band you'd be interested in, but can't find any info yourself, ask about it.

Thanks for the advice StreakInTheSky I'll start looking around.

Tonberry is a pretty decent jrock tracker.

Mostly visual, but they do get some different stuff every once in a while.
The direct downloads section is the most active.

Eh..I wonder whats Miyu doing in here.
But anywayz.....yay for Oblivon Dust regrouping. I've never really been a big fan of them but I'd rather have Ken back in OD than to continue alone as Fake? and screw things up. I just haven't been liking Fake? as much since Inoran left. Heck...I'm not even a Luna Sea fan.
Speaking of Luna Sea, anyone heard J's new album? Thats like his best album IMO. Rocks from start for finish.

Going by the videos, the S.K.I.N. show at AX seemed to go well. Gackt was pretty enthusiastic. It said in the newsletter they used Tsuchiya Anna's bassist on support, but I think only on rehearsal. The GacktJob bassist was playing in the videos. It also said everyone only cared about Gackt. There were only a few who actually knew about the band. lol. The Gackt/Yoshiki piano duet was pretty cool.

Road of Major to disband

Rock band Road of Major revealed on Monday that they plan to break up. According to the announcement, the four members have been working together despite their differing tastes, and now they want to return to their original paths as individuals. However, they suggested that there is a possibility of the band reuniting in the future.

The popular band formed in 2002 as part of a talent search on TV Tokyo's audition show, "Hamaraja."

Oh man..screw that. I really like them. They have some catchy tunes and all. And they haven't even been major that long yet.

The recent Zazen Boys Matsuri Session with their new bassist Yoshida Ichiro

Guy seems pretty cool. He has a cool beard. Doesn't move around that much, but other than that he pretty much sounds the same in playing and tone. Gotta wait and see what kind of stuff he does when they start improvising, though. Matsushita has lost a lot of weight, lol.

Anything goes.

Meaning that in this thread J-Rock =/= Visual Kei? w00t!

I don't mind Visual Kei..I really don't. But I think artists don't have to dress up in order to make good music. I listen to just as many non-Visual bands as Visual bands.

Umm....anybody here like Coaltar of the Deepers?
