i noticed there is no "What ___ Are you ___" thread for anime, so i thought id make one.
i've always been into anime, but never had anyone to talk about it with until i came here. i know there is a haruhi thread and that is what most everybody is watching since its like the flavor of the week.

Haven't seriously followed anime in over a year, but I still catch watever's on TV and what my roommates happen to have playing. In the case of the latter, it's usually ones that make you go "WTF!?" like School Rumble, Yakitate! Japan, or Prince of Tennis.

Ouran High School Host Club. And I watched 1 ep of Shinigami no Ballad and liked it, planned to dl all eps when I get back on my comp. Too bad there are only 6 eps. Also thinking about watching xxholic. I'm not all that pleased with the movie, hope the tv anime will be better.

Haruhi is one of those shows that are popular because they honestly are that good, but everyone is watching it already, so let's leave it at that.
What you should also be watching, however, is Mushishi. It's a nearly perfectly episodic show about a fictional world, which I think is more or less an alternate turn-of-last-century Japan. In this world, there exist primitive supernatural life-forms called mushi, which only some can perceive directly, but which affect the lives of many in different ways.
The main character is a travelling mushi expert who helps people experiencing various troubles because of them. The episodes that are not purely stand-alone explore his past and current situation, but also do so in a way that does not break the overall flow of the show.
The premise is supernatural, but where the emphasis really lies is human nature. The mushi serve as a narrative device to put the characters into where they must make difficult decisions. The show is beautiful in the way in which it shows how much remains the same no matter how much may change. I would go so far as to say some of the episodes remind of Graham Greene in their treatment of the subject.
What really makes the series work as well as it does is that it is all very well executed. It maintains its atmosphere by both visual and aural means in a way I can only describe as highly succesful. It is well put-together from the general colour scheme to the way the characters talk. The only grating weakness is the opening theme, which is best not enjoyed.
My post ended up long and rambling and I probably failed to say what I meant to, but my point is that Mushishi is one of the best anime series I have seen (I dare say this even with four episodes yet unaired) and I encourage everyone to give it a try.

I gave up on naruto a long time ago , imho nothing really happens in an episode , a fight is stretched amongst several episodes. It disgusted me.

I just recently downloaded the DVD rips of all the DBZ movies as well. Brings back so many memories of coming home from school to see the new episodes everyday on Toonami, back in the days of Reboot <333

i saw the final ep of Suzumiya Haruhi last night: yay! i (and hundreds of others) guessed the ending correctly! yay! it's one of the all-time great animes! Kyoto Animation really excelled with Haruhi.

lame? for real? i thought it was fantastic! seriously, it's one of the two or three best anime series i've seen - and god knows, i've seen a lot. oh well, each to their own...
unfortunately Mushishi only has four more eps left - inlcuding the one that was released today. and altho StoPani is very funny, it's unintentionally funny, unlike Haruhi...
i haven't seen anything from the summer season yet: there are a few shoujo titles (and a couple of yuri, too) so there should hopefulyl be something worth watching.

I said the ending was lame, not the series. The series were awesome, but this kinda ending didn't suit it that well imHo. But oh well, judging by the success they might turn Haruhi into next Naruto, who knows...
SP! was like the 2nd anime I've downloaded ever, and I still looove it (have ep 14 waiting to be watched), but my favorite series still remains Karin (http://a.scarywater.net/afk/%5Ba.f.k.%5D%20Karin%20-%2001-24.torrent), I think (heck, check my sig). It was just hilariously cute, and subbed by the same tram that did Haruhi, so it figures.
Oh, and Simoun _is_ yuri, you may like it :3 Only 2 teams release subs for it so far, and both translated only like the half of the episodes that were aired >_< I go for Doremi's releases, and they're even more behind than Simoun-Fans =.= Check it out at http://a.scarywater.net/doremi/ or http://a.scarywater.net/simoun-fans/.

Just started watching "Sukisho" (aka "Suki na mono wa suki dakara shouganai!"). It started way too promising but the next 2 episodes were kinda lame :/ Right now I'm stuck with 98.8% of episode 4 on the batch torrent XD Hopefully it'll get more yaoilicious later :drool:

There are soo many great anim series. I watch always different ones. Moast favorties are: Goldenboy, Full Metal Panic, Onegai Twinns/Teacher. Gravitation. I like it when i laugh my ass of i anime's. Ohh Noir was great becouse the interesting storie about moral, and loyality.

currently re-watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, altho this time in story (chronological) order, not plot (broadcast) order, and it's even more genius than before - the rampant foreshadowing of events that have happened but we haven't yet seen (random example - Haruhi about to give Mikuru a ponytail in the baseball ep, shooting a dirty look to Kyon, then changing her mind... fantastic attention to detail, and a detail that can only be appreciated on re-watching).
other than that tho, i'm in post-Suzumiya comedown and can't bring myself to watch other anime - cos nothing, not even NANA or Ouran, is going to be up to standard. and the dross of the new season - Tsuyokiss, Muteki Kanban Musume - doesn't bear thinking about. still been keeping up with Strawberry Kiss tho: it's so rubbish it's in a completely different universe to Haruhi...

nowadays the only anime i manage to watch is what i catch on [as], which as of late has been Eureka Seven and iGPX. i wasn't sure what to think of Eureka at first but it's grown on me and i love the character designs. oh, and you can't forget mecha design by the legendary Shoji Kawamori. as for iGPX, i just think it's a neat concept and that's good enough for me. XD

Watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu and absolutely loving it! Am tempted to learn the dance from the ending and film myself doing it, wtf. I also have the ending theme constantly stuck in my head D: Fun, though. Need to find time to watch more of it ^___^

still re-watching Suzumiya Haruhi - even tho the hatas on AniDB (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=main) are trying to knock it off top spot it is one of the greatest animes ever.

Strawberry Panic 16 [Serin subs]: damn this is trash, and so poorly animated too: but damn, it's fun poorly animated trash!
Mushishi 23 [C1 subs]: i'm so pleased this is back after it's 2 month hiatus - even if there are only 3 eps left. to thnk that in the last six months we've had two animes this good - anyone claiming 'the golden age of anime is over' needs to stop watching kiddie anime like DBZ and start on grown-up stuff like Mushishi, Honey and Clover and Suzumiya Haruhi.
Honey and Clover II 03 [Solar subs]: unexpectedly, season 2 is actually better than season 1 - and the art has developed, as well. totally ace.
Chokotto Sister 01 [two different subs]: the manga is sweet, fun and just a little bit wrong - the anime isn't quite as good but it's still well worth watching. and just a little bit wrong too, which doesn't hurt. FWIW, i much preferred the GNU subs over the Jiji subs.
summer season animes i've started but won't finish:
Binbou Shimai Monogatari: the manga is a bit :meh:, the anime more so - there's an opportunity for a really good story here, but it alwayas avoids drama in favour of sappy sentimentality. a real disappointment.
Tsuyokiss and Muteki Kanban Musume: i've mentioned these before, but it bears repeating: they're both shit. stay away.
Tonagura: harem comedy. i like harem anime; i'm not such a big fan of harem comedies. this one looks like Lamune played for laughs (altho better art than Lamune). perverted lead male with goth-loli imouto; deluded/ niave lead female with over-sexed onee-chan - wake me up when something original happens.

Man compared to you guys i'm nothing but a beginner, even though i'd watch anime since i was a kid, but i don't have a lot of sources. I'm just curious as to how and where do you get all these old and new anime and manga. I usually just watch anime, but recently had been very interested in manga since manga has more to it than it's anime counterpart. Help a fellow anime/manga enthusiat updated on the latest and best out there, onegai, and suggestion is fine. Thanks

The only anime I'm curently watching is School Rumble Season 2.

Currently still following these series, all are above average-very good in my opinion:
1. One Piece - 300 eps + and still very good :)
2. Berserk (well the manga)
3. Keroro - funny stuff lotsa parodies
4. School Rumble niigaki - funniest anime I've seen in awhile, recommended
5. Ouran Koko Host bun - Funny, but the guy x guy action sometimes gross me out. Still nothing compared to Loveless ^.^
6. Mushishi - Excellent graphic, very good story.
7. Monster - Well I just started watching yesterday, the animation looks bad but the story is intriguing so I'll watch more of it
8. Haruhi - Well I'm gonna get slammed for this, it's a good anime don't get me wrong, but I still don't get it why people seem to think it's like the best anime ever created. Characters are amusing but rather bland (eh all 3 girls are the usual stereotype), story is so-so IMO, and about the episode not in the correct order, I could do without. Top notch voice acting and music though, and the animation is good. I'd pick School Rumble over it anydays.

you really should catch up on Chevalier, it's very good, probably the best thing on at the moment (well, apart from Kanon of course, but you can hardly compare them - one has high quality art + story, the other is moe-tastic).
i've had a chance to catch most of the autumn season (or at least those that have started) now, so my quick opinions:
009-1. i watched this raw, as i was hoping it would be like GITS. unfortunately, it's like Totally Spies meets Najica Blitz Tactics. i'm actually glad no-one is subbing this.
Asatte no Houkou. kind of like Freaky Friday, but without Lindsey Lohan and not crap. very nice art, good character setups - this looks good.
D.Gray Man. Yume Tsukai for boys. very high quality art: but it's Yume Tsukai for boys (and Yume wasn't very good...) but then i don't like shounen stuff, which leads me to....
Death Note: well, i watched it. was bored stupid, and insulted by the 'moral quandaries' the story sets up - but then i'm not the target audience as a: i'm too old; and b: i don't like shounen stuff. very high quality art tho...
Negima?! i know nothing about Negima - i gather it's a manga, and that the first series is usally used as a yardstick (ie, 'it's not as bad as Negima'). this wasn't bad - harem stuff with wacky hijinks, but it seemd to be well done wacky harem hijinks. don't think i'll continue with it, but it wasn't bad.
Pumpkin Scissors: i actually liked this. post-war anti-bandit military story with some conspiracy undertones. it could easily degenerate into typical shounen fare, but it could equally end up being good. i'll keep watching for a while.
Red Garden: this looked very good (except for the character designs, which didnt) but i couldn't play it as it's only in h264 and my old laptop can't play widescreen h264 encodes. shame.
Sasami Magical Girl Club: i'm going to hell for watching this. but i didn't know what it was, honest! won't be watching any more, either: i'm so not the target audience....
Shounen Onmyouji: i can't even remember what this was about. my notes say 'period shounen rubbish', if that's any help.
Tokimeki Memorial: wacky harem hijinks in school setting. upside: very cute character designs (reminiscent of I"s Pure). downside: lots of wackiness. inevitably, it's based on a h-game, so if it gives lots of fan-service it'll be good :P (hey - i did say the characer designs were good!)
Yoake mae yori Ruriiro na - Crescent Love: more wacky harem hijinks, also based on h-game. the art isn't as good as Tokimeki, but the story is stronger. it looks like it could do a SHUFFLE, so i'll stick with it for a bit.
and finally:

Kanon 2006: the biggie. the touchstone. the Katamari Damacy of autumn's anime (it collects every subbing group it comes into contact with). what needs be said? it's sad-girls-in-snow, animated by KyoAni of FMP:TSR and Suzumiya fame. of course it's ace. and it's 24 eps, instead of 2002's 13 ep version, so we might - might - get a Nayuki ending. Nayuki ftw! and in the meantime, we get enough moe to put us all in hospital.

i'm surprised that Death Note wasn't licenced even before it started; it's a license to print money (if you'll excuse the dismal attempt at a pun) - it should be a total no-brainer for any anime distributor outside Japan to snap that up. there are at least three other groups subbing Death Note, tho, so even if it gets licenced and Live-evil stop subbing it, there'll still be subs available.
that said, i've been mainlining Kanon for the last 6 weeks ~Uguu~! the chances of this getting licensed, sadly, are nonexistent.

RionZ has me watching Bokura ga Ita, and its really good drama. its not dragged out and slow; and its full of comedy, so its a fun drama. I also watch Bleach and Naruto habitually. Still enjoying about every episode of bleach, can't say the same for naruto, sometimes its good, sometimes its unwatchable, and other times its better than pie (awesome).

Most recently watched series: Texhnolyze. Strange, fucked up, and all that crazy shit you love :D I liked the offbeat ending too, although the series itself is way deeper than I tried to understand, but it was still good. I wasn't asking myself philisophical questions throughout it which I suppose was the point of the series. Anyway, not sure what I'm going to watch next. Thinking either start watching Ergo Proxy, or out of my crapload of burned anime, I was thinking of watching Infinite Ryvius. Haven't watched a single ep of Naruto or Bleach since the fillers started like a year ago. Although Bleach is finally out of filler woot! (except I'm so not used to watching it weekly I haven't downloaded the latest eps lol; manga's better anyway =p)

1.bleach, up to eps 114 now, getting to the good part.
2.Naruto, finished part 1 with eps 220, waited all night for the eps to be subbed. Now that the filler has ended, i can't wait for the part 2, hurricane chronicles. heard some great stuff about it.
3.Just finish Baki the Grappler, dunno know if anyone heard of it, it's ok for a martial arts anime, but kinda boring on some parts.
4. watching hajime no ippo, got it a while ago, but never had time watching it. complete.
5. waiting for ep 8 of the Prince of Tennis the national championship to come out soon. got all the eps and movies up till now, even the live adaptation. all i need now is the manga....
aside from those, i'm also rewatching some anime, like hikaru no go, slam dunk cuz i like to reminisce on those good moments. Also i downloaded the latest and greatest of Death note, including the 2 live action movies (one subbed, one not), the complete manga and up to eps 16, but so far i haven't watch any of them becuz i've been watching some other. really want to start watching as soon as i get done with some others.

Irresponsible Captain Tylor!
While it's not a very well known or popular series I absolutely love it. Still laughed myself silly like I did years ago. I always wanted to check out the novels the series is based on by Hitoshi Yoshioka and maybe now I'll get around to that, haha. Anyway, I consider it one of the best "sit down and just have fun" series out there.

Trigun - Only watched the first 2 episodes so far and I'm enjoying it. Vash certainly doesn't look like a 60 million double dollar bounty! I understand the series starts off slow but picks up after the first dozen or so episodes?
Death Note - Good so far. Watching Light and L trying to outwit each other is great to watch. At Episode 20 at the minute though, and I'm slightly concerned on how the story's progressing. Guess I'll have to wait till the end to pass judgement. Speaking of, has the anime series ended yet? Wikipedia doesn't say so. So far I can only watch up to Episode 26 and I want to know if I have to wait on more to arrive.
Was also watching Full Metal Alchemist too, which I was really enjoying, but the videos were taken off the site. :angry1:

Trying to decide which of the new series I'll preview and watch... so far nothing's been THAT great.
Previewed:
El Cazador de la Bruja - I love Noir and Yuki Kajiura's music, and this seemed ok, so I'll probably keep watching for now... I suppose I gotta watch Madlax too since Noir-Madlax-Cazador are some sort of a "spiritual" trilogy it seems.
Seirei no Moribito - I expected a bit more from the dudes who made GITS:S.A.C & FLCL, but it's decent enough to keep watching for a bit longer, I think. The art is top-notch, of course, and this story might get interesting... we'll see.
Darker Than Black - I'll give it another ep or two, maybe it'll get better. Please stop chewing my anime for me.
Claymore - I have no idea why I watched two eps of this. Probably won't bother checking out ep 3 unless I get massively bored.

just watched the latest episode of Bleach (123), so excited can't wait to see what happen next. also been watching naruto shippuden. as u obivously can tell, these two are far from over and been watching over a year or two now. other than that, i've been downloading death note but still haven't gotten the chance to watch it.
although i've been watching(just finished actually) the anime the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is pretty good. the episode listing however is very weird, it the timeline doesn't match the order of the episode at all. u always have to watch the preview of the next episode at the end of every episode in order to watch it in order. kind of a hassle, although it may also be a charm point to it. anyway, since i'm not doing anything at the moment, hopefully i can get to one of the anime in my collection that i've never even watch yet. ciao for now.

The Anime Network has a 2hr time slot every Sunday night now on some obscure channel, which debuted yesterday. So now, on top of Death Note and Trigun, I'm watching:
Coyote Ragtime Show - The presenters called it 'Pirates Of The Caribbean meets Firefly'. I prefer to call it 'Oceans 11 meets Cowboy Bebop'. Best to switch off your brain and enjoy the guns, explosions and gothic lolitas. And there's a lot of them.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - No I haven't watched it yet ok?! XD Everyone raves about it and it's gotten off to a great start. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Guyver : The Bioboosted Armor - Probably my least favourite of the 4 shown. Schoolboy gets a biomechanical suit of armor through a chance encounter and has to deal with other monsters yadda yadda yadda. Watchable, but I'm not really expecting much. Still, it's the 1st episode, may get better as it goes.
Elfen Lied - The presenters said to expect the bloodiest opening 10 mins of anime in a long while, and they weren't wrong. Looks like an anime that's unapologetic about what it shows. Lot's of blood, decapitations, women getting unprovoked assault and the main character, Lucy, is pretty much naked throughout the episode. Looks interesting, can't wait to see what happens next.

After watching the 2nd episode of Elfin Lied, I can safely say I'm excited on how the series will develop. And the opening theme tune is so hauntingly beautiful, it's got a hold of me and won't let go. Evangelion is shaping up really nicely as well.

Just finished with Elfen Lied. One of the darkest animes I've seen, it really pulls no punches. Blood, gore, nudity, infant murders, paedophilia, it felt like too much at times. But still, it's expertly paced with good characters and there is enjoyment in watching it, if you can handle it.

Watched Voices Of A Distant Star. Heartbreaking! I like the idea that technology like text messages, are created to seemingly bring people closer together, but could actually make them drift further apart. Story really tugs at the heartstrings and the artwork is incredible. Especially when you find out that it was created, animated, and produced all by a single person on a Macintosh. :o Thoroughly recommended.

I only remember a few shows like Wolf's Rain, Ghost In The Shell, Excel Saga. Again, have no idea what they're like. Christ I'm gonna be very busy! Some recommendations:
Azumanga Daioh is heelariously awesome. If you don't find it funny, you're dead inside.
Ghost In The Shell (stand-alone complex I assume, if you mean the series) is a cyberpunk action thriller with lots of political talk and tech jargon. One of my fave animes.... Top-notch animation, music and action scenes, and the second season is probably even better I'd say.
Wolf's Rain is a pretty good sci-fi anime about wolves that can take human form. Looks good, sounds great (Yoko Kanno at it again).
Narf, what else. Haven't seen nearly all of those shows you listed... Phantom Memory Kurau was pretty good as well. I think it got a little boring though. Memory hazy.

Just thought I'd do some quick reviews of the shows I've seen. Remember this will be based off the first episode of each series:
Azumanga Daioh - Very funny! I really felt for Chiyo when she was brought in front of the teacher for not doing her homework XD And the cat suddenly biting Sakaki :lol:
Pani Poni Dash - Think Azumanga but on speed XD Bright colours and crazy jokes flying thick and fast. Characters are all berserk too, Rebecca, her depressed pet bunny, the aliens looking over her because she may or may not save the world, and my personal favourite, the cat living in a vending machine who says he's God XD
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World - Surprised me. At first I thought, oh it's yet another shy guy meeting girl who fell from the stars. But it gets more interesting than that. For one, the girl looks exactly like the guy's vision of a perfect girl. Second of all, a large gigantic alien comes to attack the girl, and out of desperation the boy transforms into an ass kicking demon, that is borderline cruel and sadistic. The end of the episode shows the dream girl, Hikari, isn't as sweet as she makes out to be either. Hope this keeps up.
Kurau Phantom Memory - Really liked this one. Very nice visuals/music and it's got ghosts, guns and mech action with a nice blend of drama.
Jinki : Extend - Didn't like this. Simple mech vs aliens plot with teenage girl holding some kind of power that mystery organisations want. Done before and the action wasn't quite engaging enough. Yawn.
Innocent Venus - Another case of special teenage girl on the run but this time the action was well done. One scene in particular looked like a Bourne movie if it was done in anime. Anyway, only downside is that there were too many questions already posed and not enough answers e.g. a long scene involving a group of armed terrorists party crashed in order to take somebody with no explanation as to who these people were, or what they were doing. But at least I'm interested to know how it will unfold.
Planetes - Soooooo good already. From what it looks like, it follows a group of people having to collect junk from space. That's it. But it has lovely animation and the characters are really well done with some drama and humour thrown in.
What Anime Central is showing at the minute is Transformers Headmasters, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemsit, GITS:SAC, Planetes and Vision of Escaflowne. Definately intend to see Fullmetal Alchemist.

Actually just finished watching tenjou Tenge. the fight scenes and overall actions were good. the storyline is kinda way out there for me. but nice. it's seems the manga has continue on more than the anime did. so i either have to find the manga with english translation somewhere or just forget about it. although i do hope maybe they'll continue with the anime, but that's a small chance...

Well, I have seen a lot of anime over the past couple of months. More so than in my entire lifetime to that pont. Some fantastic, some..not so much. A lot of long running series got finished up round about the same time last week, so here's the rundown of what I thought:
Ghost In The Shell : SAC - Amazing. Simply genius in every aspect. If someone asked me what makes anime so good, I would point this out straight away. Intellectual, beautifully drawn and with a fantastic setting. I will admit it does take repeated viewings to attempt to take the story in, but it's worth it. And rarely, it's a case of where the 2nd series is indeed better than the 1st. And the opening credits for both series is the best I've ever seen. Oh, and the tachikoma's rule! :D
Planetes - After GITS, this would be 2nd as my anime of choice. Anime doesn't always have to have giant robots or special powers for it to work and this is proof of that. It does start slow the first couple of episodes, but then the story picks up and you really begin to care for the characters and can't help but be impressed by the attention to detail. Also contains some of the finest characterisation seen yet and you do sense that the characters have been on a journey and have changed as a result. Probably not for everyone, but I can't recommend it enough.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Always seen this as highly recommended amongst anime fans and can see why. I enjoyed it, some nice twists here and there and some great action. But I'm sure 90% of anime fans probably knew that anyway XD
Wolf's Rain - Great post-apocalyptic action, but was horribly disappointed by the ending which never really brought it to a conclusion.
Innocent Venus - Enjoyable, with a genuine twist midway through that was shocking. But nothing more than good.
Guyver : The Bioboosted Armor - Now here I literally asked 'WTF?' at the end of it all. Now I was enjoying this. Yes the protaganist whined too much and never found the resolve to do much and the storyline was next to paper thin, but regardless I enjoyed the action which sold the premise alone. So, without wanting to spoil it, when I say the ending leaves everything hanging in mid-air, with the bad guys still at large and the protaganist reaching a point where he is stronger than ever and determined to take the fight to them and then have the ending credits roll, well to say it's a massive dissapointment would be a severe understatement. I can only hope a new series is being made to continue the story, otherwise the past 26 weeks amounted to nothing.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Jeez I thought I had enough with Wolf's Rain and Guyver's bad endings. I presume many here can understand it better than I can, but can someone actually point out to me if there's any genuine ending to this thing? Because to me, having Sho and Asuka spend 2 episodes having an internal struggle to get over their emo state is great and all, but what about the Earth itself? Was there a 3rd impact or what? Also, would it kill the dubbing version to fill in a few details? Having kanji appear on screen amounts to nothing when the person watching can't read it and has to make suggestions on what was asked. Even a simple subtitle at the bottom would do.
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World - Actually gave up on it after 6 episodes. Like I mentioned earlier, it appeared promising, but the aspect that I found appealing was never actually developed further during the time I watched it. Instead I was treated to a simply boring romance type anime that didn't do anything for me. It may have returned to sadistic monster aspect later in the series, but now I simply couldn't care less when all of the characters actually make me want to see them suffer for being so annoying.
See? Told you it was a lot. The anime channels here don't appear to be updating their line up soon, and for now, I'm still watching Azumanga Daioh (which gets better) and Kurau Phantom Memory (getting rather dull actually, however the opening and ending songs are damn near the best I've ever heard. The ending song in particular, 'Moonlight', just resonates something within me and makes me want to explain why it's special but I just can't find the words. That's something I think all good music has.)
Also, I reached Episode 60 in Monster, till I found out that the rest of the links were unavailable. So here I am, just 12 more episodes away from this huge series and I find out I can't see what happens to the likes of Tenma, Nina, Lunge, Eva, Dieter or Johaan (surely one of the most chilling villans in anime) :(

The anime channel here in the UK finished airing s-CRY-ed and Witch Hunter Robin. s-CRY-ed was a leave your brain at the door series where humans can have super powers and follows two different minded protaganists, hot-headed, makes no apologies Kazuma, and strict, job devoted Ryuhou. Was enjoyable to watch but really the two should have just gotten over themselves and released all their sexual frustrations on each other, as it was made out they fancy the pants off each other (one of them even turns down attractive female company just to chose a life with the other). Perfect material if you are a Yaoi fan fic author or Daigong :P.
Witch Hunter Robin was also enjoyable. The first half of the series was a standard 'monster of the week' affair, but from halfway onwards, the show picked up in pace and told an engaging story that certainly kept my interest. I liked how despite the fact that witches and magic is involved, it's still grounded in realism. Think of it as an anime version of The X-Files and you have an idea of what it's like.
Still airing Gundam Seed, episode 28 from yesterday. Not bad,Flay is a bitch!, enjoying it so far, but I want more characters like Mu La Flaga and cut down on the emo somewhat.

Shakugan no Shana Second.
Just finished the first season and watched the second halfway through. It's actually good old action fantasy without confusing the hell out of you or being really wierd. :lol: Sorta like how Full Metal Alchemist was I guess but less "baddy of the day" type stuff. Then there's an almost ero-ge like romantic side plot to it which doesn't distract from the main story but thought it made the characters less 2 dimensional. But I thought the 2nd season had more of a plot focus on character development and hardly developed the story. Really felt more like filler sometimes. But I guess you sorta end up really liking some of the characters so you get over it.
It's a really accessible anime without getting annoyingly repetative or childish.

Almost done with the first season of Code Geass.
I have to say, even though it's pretty much a bunch of bits and pieces taken from almost every popular anime in the past decade or two, it's execution of them is almost perfect. Definitely one of my favorite mecha anime since gundam wing. I probably would have liked it even more if the last few episodes weren't just WTF... I don't think I've ever been this upset about a plot twist. And not because it's a bad one, it was just really upsetting to watch happen.
I recommend everyone atleast check it out, no matter what kind of anime you're a fan of.

I watched the first ep of Gundam 00 Season 2 Raw. I don't speak much Japanese but the episode was mostly easy to follow. I won't spoil, but I'll just say is was an explosive, awesome start. Interesting twists, lots of familiar faces, and the action has already begin. I'm glad it is off to a good, REAL start. No waiting for the main story to happen, it's already there. In my opinion, Gundam 00 is the best Gundam series in years. SEED was good but had much more potential, but the slowness of the story and constant flashbacks really drug it down. Destiny had these problems time over 9000 and was almost unwatchably slow. Anyway, F5'ing animesuki constantly for the sub of this one! :)
I've also started Macross Frontier recently. Yes, I lag behind most of the time. :P Very nice show!

The new Gundam 00 that Setsuna now pilots is a huge step up from Exia.
There's a number of other new anime series I'm checking out, but it remains to be seen if any of those will hold my attention to actually keep watching them.

Just started watching Vampire Knight Guilty, watched episode 02 a few hours ago. It's pretty good though I have to say I got involved with it due to my liking On/Off (who have sang both openings) and Wakeshima Kanon (who has sang both endings).
I'm also watching Serial Experiments Lain again, I'd watched around half of the episodes before but for some reason stopped - it's a confusing anime but nonetheless pretty interesting, especially for sci-fi fans. I love the opening by Boa (not BoA).

Fantastic OAV, you should almost definitely love it.
I finished Gundam 00 season 2 as it was subbed by Nyoron and loved it. Fantastic series and the ending was fairly satisfying. A bit rushed, but most anime endings are. I'm going to start back up on Macross Frontier. I've been lazy in my anime watching. After I'm through with that, I am thinking of watching Gurren Laggan. See what all the fuss is about aside from Yoko's cans. :lol:

Gurren Lagann is great. It has a stupid comedy exterior (don't let that stop you from watching) with a deep code about life that unravels as the story unfolds and magnifies again and again. Oh, and it has robots (sorry, spoiled that for ya!)
Seriously. The last time I was suprised to this level, it was watching Eva-01 ripping the monster's carcass and eating it.

This show looks so retarded if you just look at clips and the mobile suit designs, but once you actually watch it, it's so surprising how good it is. It's definitely unlike any other Gundam series, but in a good way. The science of it is absurd, but the code of honor in it is really cool. :)

After finally finishing Macross Frontier, I've turned back the clock some and am watching the GAINAX classic Gunbuster. The first episode was kinda weird but promising. Old school anime is a lot of fun. I love the character designs, and the animation has a lot of heart in it. Not all plastic looking like a lot of shows today are.

Queen's Blade. Was wondering why it's so popular, so I watched the first 10 episodes.
I thought it was pretty average, but the unnecessary nude scenes does make it stand out. And the characters are pretty good too.
The current One Piece arc is very exciting. Must confess I don't follow the series, but I do watch a few episodes from time to time. Right now, the fighting is pretty crazy.
First 2 episodes of MS Igloo 2 was better than expected. Shows what technology and a great story can do.
And it gets people to not just look at the big robot that blows everything up, and more of the inner struggle of people during war. That's what Gundam is all about. :)

Just watched the 5 centimeters per second movie. Not usually into that kind of romantic melodrama/tragedy sort of thing, I was also kinda bored a while. but once I got into the story, whoa.... DEEP. very moving and touching. like a slice of life, drama, romance.
It was a great movie, though, great story, too. Love the song, too. Yamazaki Masayoshi - one more time, one more chance.

This is just one of another perfect example that one shouldn't rule out anime if one searching for a move with a high quality storyline full of twists and turns, exciting and thrilling scenes. especially in this case, a psy-thriller. Those who generally regards all anime as inferior to the live-action entertainment is missing out, I so pity them...

Hanamaru Kindergarten is pretty good. Katanagatari is promising, and of course there's also the new season of Nodame Cantabile. Also, the Legend of Koizumi is awesome.

Evangelion You Can (Not) Advance - Well, they succeeded in making making it more easily digestible for non-fans. I remember getting pretty confused when watching the series, but don't have any such problems with these movies. The changes (like the fights, and adding Mari) were suprising and really enjoyable.

Gundam Unicorn OVA ep1 - The MS designs, story and artwork are all great. But I don't know why the characters in this series just don't have that 'charismatic' touch, that past characters have. Like Amuro, Four or even the recent Setsuna. And I'm not just talking about the main characters, but even the side-cast feel bland. Maybe it's just to make a big contrast for later episodes, where everywhere goes crazy and Banagher starts breaking seeds and stuff. :lol:

Catched up on Naruto, glad they are back onto the main story. (I don't read the comic, so I don't know how far thats gone)
On the other hand, it's starting to feel more and more Dragon Ball. Enemies coming back from the dead, hero turning into a super form with a time limit, collecting energy from nature. Just need Naruto to grow super long hair (like Jiraiya) and have lightning all over, actually that doesn't sound half bad! :roll:
Full Metal Panic. Didn't like the over-the-top storyline or the characters.
Giant Killing. Totally following it. But the episodes feel so short, like 5 minutes.
Finished off Cross Game (which I suspended half-way for so long). It was really enjoyable. :heart:

Shigurui : Death Frenzy - It's set in Feudal Japan and opens with a battle in a tournament between two samurai. One is a one-armed swordsman, the other a blind cripple. The rest of the series details that these two have a history with each other, disciples of a legendary samurai, fighting for the right to be named successor. Over the years they grow to despise each other causing injury to each other, but never stop fighting to achieve their goal. Good so far, very graphic. It's not for the faint of heart.

Currently watching Skip Beat!. I usually don't watch many shojo anime, but I heard it was funny, and it is. I like comedy, and there is full of it in Skip Beat!. Too bad there are only 25 episodes, why won't they continue the anime? This is one thing I most definitely hate about anime adaptation, they usually don't continue or change the ending. Just like Ouran High School Host Club. granted, it's only been a year, so here's hoping they'll decide to continue the anime this year, or next year!

Read part of the manga before watching the anime. I just love the concept of how the main character is going to need to struggle in what they are trying to achieve despite what he really is. Just kind of worried how they are going to use fillers to keep true to the story since the manga has only a few chapters out.

I recently finished Michiko to Hatchin, and it was quite good. Although it's anime, the setting is in a Latin American country, which is kind of peculiar in a good sense. I'd like to recommend this one. ^^

Arghh Denpa is such a rip-off of Bakemonogatari without the awesome witty dialogue and Senjougahara-Araragi relationship. It's so lame except for the girl's blue hair.
I might pick up AnoHana and DW when this season finishes though.

Tsukihime felt a little basic. I wanted the story/characters to be fleshed out more.
While Kara no Kyoukai is really complex. Every episode feels like a psychology test.
I really liked part 5, with the round building design. How it was made to cheat people into going to one apartment, but actually going to another. By using combinations of things like a turning elevator, fake numbers, complex wall colors to keep people occupied, and a similar-looking outdoor landscape. All to muddle the brain.
It's kinda like some classic murder mystery stories, just much more detailed.
For Fate/Zero ep01. Dunno why people say it was boring. It set up the characters really well. Do people actually expect saber to whack gilgamesh this early. :roll:

Saint Seiya Omega is awful. So awful that I have to talk/warn about it. :panic:
The scenes/lines are corny and boring. It doesn't have any of the flame from the original series that had cloth destroying fights, blood and enemies with sorrowful backstories.
The art direction makes me think they got the guys that did the Powerpuff Girls or the new Yu Gi Oh to do it.
Even the saint cloth looks off, not metalic at all and not having the intricacies of the original design.
Other than the opening song, that they kept using the original, I have no love for this show.
To me, it's like the American Dragon Ball movie of the Japanese anime series. And it'll need to do something crazy good to get me to watch it again.
I hope the Hades OVA comes back soon. Or they start up the heaven arc again.

Kuroko no Basuke - This is like the closest anything has gone to Slam Dunk's level and feel. Really good.
Ginga e Kickoff!! - At last, I can stop watching Area no Kishi and watch this instead, I was starting to die from all the drama and the little action.
Ginga is alot like the early years of Captain Tsubasa. And it has way more scenes than Area, actually showing people moving and kicking a ball.

Ep01 - Boring/generic schoolgirls in tightsuits learning to pilot mechs to fight aliens. yawn~~

Ep02 - Robots with alien blood all over them!!! kill EVERYTHING!!! Flying mechs run for your lives! Shoot! scary crawly Aliens scene!! NOOOO!!!
Friggin intense pacing plus unexpectedly high main cast death count. Yeah. I liked episode 2 much more too. :)
Sword Art Online (ep01) -
VR gaming gone bad making a nice platform to build the story on.
Visuals, entertaining and game-elements-wise, I still like Accel World more though. Maybe because AW kept it simple and didn't explain all the basics to viewers like SAO did.
I hope it'll get better as more characters join and the story unfolds.

For such a cutesy art style, the story sure is adult-themed and makes us reflect on our current society.

Zetsuen no Tempest - The Civilization Blaster (ep01-02) -
Two guys looking into the mystery death of one of the boys' sister get thrown into a magic-user war.
The story has the 2 guys being helped by a powerful princess magic-user who's exiled on an island. Giving them talismans to temporarily use magic andtake on the real magic users that exiled her. It's pretty interesting. With the friendship/family emotions put into the characters.
K (ep01-02) -
Positive main chara is chased for being the 7th King and murdering a gang member. Gang wants revenge with them and other groups using psi skills and swords, even though its the future.
Setting reminds me of X. While the great cinematic look feels a little like [C]. LOL, they're all letters!! :D
Psycho-Pass (ep01) -
In the future, they put chips in ppl, and measure their chance of committing crimes. Cops get fugitives as hunters, to catch the ppl who's chip says their crime chance % is too high. Using programmed guns that detect the threat, then change to paralyze or kill mode.
It's theme is pretty mature. Reminding me a lot of the classic anime I rented 10-15 years ago. Some cliche cop characters, a sex scene, guns, and ppls bodies blowing up. This type of show seemed to get English translations a lot more back in the days.
Code:Breaker (ep01-02) -
Mysterious transfer student with a hand that burns ppl to death with blue flames. Not very original. It's still an ok watch so far.
Btooom! (ep01-02) -
A top-player guy for an online Bomberman game getting kidnapped and forced to play the game for real on an island.
The main guy's lines feel sooo flat. But the theme is interesting.
Girls und Panzer (ep01) -
Kid girls driving tanks to battle for a competition. I have not heard of a high-school with tank-driving as an after-school activity.

I haven't watched any anime since Digimon Xros Wars finished. I watched a few minutes of hentai yesterday with my friend but that was about it! And that I didn't like so I turned it off. Maybe I should watch something. I've seen roughly 100 episodes of Dragonball. I've just got about I don't know,20-35 episodes of Sailor Stars to go.

Did a Puella Magi Madoka Magica marathon watch.
The dark theme added to the innocent characters and the "magical girl anime formula" was interesting. Lotsa twist moments. And those Kyubey cold-stares. XD
Magi still going strong. Same for Jojo.
Hunter x Hunter has gone past the previous version that stopped in Greed Island, which is nice.
Naruto actually has something happening. OK, maybe not. They're fighting old side-character enemies that have an invincibility cheat on... again. wonder how many times the show is going to use that. At least it ain't filler episode hell.
Psycho-Pass crazy as usual.
Gintama is probably getting sued (again) from Lucasarts with the beam saber story. :lol:
Zetsuen no Tempest has all the characters thinking of doing stuff, but not actually do the stuff. Still liking it though. :P
Zettai Karen Children is getting more and more generic.
Robotics;Notes gets better further down, but the first 10-15 episodes were sooooo sloowwwww.
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha still interesting with its business-theme. And learning more about Maou has been a big hook.
Kuroko no Basuke ep22.5 making me want more.
Initial D Fifth Stage probably has some of the ugliest characters in the entire show. Takahashi Ryosuke looked godly handsome before. This season he looked like a worthless ugly side-character, till his side-story race came up.
Saint Seiya Omega finished off its 12 golden-saints fights. So I don't need to follow it anymore. yay~ I still think its a useless kiddy version which disgraces the original.

I'm making my way through Mobile Suit Gundam AGE right now. This show is a huge case of "never rely on a review/someone else to tell you if a show's good without checking it out yourself". It's very different for a Gundam show and the more "cartoonish" animation and character design can really give you a false impression of what this show is, but 21 episodes in, I am very into this show. It's really good so far!
Hopefully more anime to come. Trying to revive my fandom a little bit. :thumbup

Just finished watching AKB0048: Next Stage. Lots of feels during that season.
Found out recently Attack on Titan. Watched the first episode. Looks promising. Can't wait to see the next episode in a few days.
Getting back to Blood+ (dubbed unfortunately) on Crackle.
On Crunchyroll there's Beast King GoLion, which for those who don't know is the anime that most of us watched as kids better known as Voltron: Defenders of the Universe.
Still need to finish Persona 4: The Animation, but I don't know if I want to continue since I haven't finished the game yet.
Searching for a copy of Helsing Ultimate OVAs V-VIII Blu-ray that doesn't include a DVD copy of OVAs I-IV.
Got to finish Tekaman Blade and King of Braves GaoGaiGar DVDs.
And finally, Gundam U.C. OVA 6.
Further down the list of animes to watch: Fullmetal Alchemist, both the original (still haven't watch all the episodes) and Brotherhood, Macross 7, Monster, Galaxy Express 999, Space Battleship Yamato, Captain Harlock.
Feeling nostalgic (even though it has only been 4 years) for Gurren Lagann and Eureka Seven (6 years for that one).

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. - loved the first series + OVAs and its good to be back.
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S - same as above, this first episode brought back all the elements I like and I like it so much more than Index
RDG: Red Data Girl - the scenery looked beautiful, unsure if this is one I will stick with
Shingeki no Kyojin - this was utterly amazing. The first episode blew me away - it was like a movie opening, but also I can see how it is a series opener. So epic, and I'm going to watch the 2nd episode this evening.
From last season, I watched 5 episodes of Tamako Market, which I enjoyed a lot less than K-ON! but mean to continue watching, and still have a few more eps of AKB0048 Next Stage to finish. I should also start Chihayafuru 2 as I loved the first season, although the second half was less good than the first.

After that need to catch up on Shingeki no Kyojin. I know the manga is already out, but I'll wait until the anime is completed to start reading it. A total opposite of what I've done with Game of Thrones.

A friend told me about the Nisekoi manga years ago but never had the time to read it. No wonder it felt familiar when I watched the first ep.
I'm liking Noragami so far. It's feels like KamiHaji but with more fanservice and fight scenes. :lol:
There's also a bunch of high-profile anime that I haven't watched or need to finish (Haruhi, SAO, Love Hina, etc.) so I'm thinking of backtracking. I've been itching to rewatch Cowboy Bebop O_O
I'm looking forward to the F/S Night remake later this year.

Had some free time. Re-watched all of Mirai Nikki again in one day. Cos, damn it's good. Still as good as when I watched it when it first aired. :D
Even when knowing what will happen in the story, and all the surprises. I was still super-anxious to keep watching and see how it went on.
The survival game, battle of wits, altering future events, and a whole load of crazy characters worked really well. And the comedy bit at the end of each episode was a really nice touch.
It's definitely one of my faves.
Checked most of the 1st episodes for the new spring shows.
Ones I'm interested in following:
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders - Duh~ :) I watched the old OVA. The flow of that was really broken, and came out with no idea heads or tails of what happened. Considering I've loved the new show, I'm sure they'll do a better job this time with Stardust.
Akuma no Riddle - A whole class of schoolgirl killers. what's not to like.
Captain Earth - Giant robo merging in outer space!
Haikyuu!! - Guys volleyballing. gotta have a sports anime to follow.
Kanojo ga Flag o Oraretara - Guy that can see flags appearing on ppl's heads (e.g. death flag, romance flag...). Easily one of the funniest and best shows in this bunch. Definitely gonna keep watching.
No Game No Life - An 'elite gamer' brother and sister pair, dropped into another world where everything is decided by games. Nice idea, hope it'll turn out good.
Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin - A guy moving into a flat with a female ghost, one of the original founders of the island that was mysteriously murdered.
Hitsugi no Chaika - Mystery girl carrying a coffin. Too early to say if I like it or not...
Oh, and there's the sci-fi space anime Knights of Sidonia. It might not appeal to everyone. But I'm liking it so far.
The character style is pretty ugly, and one of the most generic storylines that could be possible. Guy living underground in some space colony, a skilled pilot (from training in a simulator machine everyday). Then joining the above-ground army and starts fighting aliens.
And it has a really cool op song, by Angela. :heart:

On the other hand, not sure why the guys at Anime News Network gave Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii's 1st episode high scores like 4-4.5/5 (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/preview-guide/2014/the-spring-anime/world). I thought the whole show was really plain and average and anything over 3 is giving too much. Maybe it'll get better later on, or there's something likeable about the show that I can't see. dunno. :P

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders - like winner, I watched the old OAVs but it felt unfinished and I also want to see it done using the same animation as the previous arcs' shows .
Captain Earth - need some mecha fix after GBF ended. I like the designs and the animation is pretty crisp
Haikyuu!! - seems like the typical sports anime rivalry theme but it's pretty good. Gotta support the little guy
Daimidaler - mech designs are meh but the pilot needs to fondle boobs to power it up :) and the bad guys are penguins with their tails located at the crotch :lol:

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei/The Irregular at Magic High School. Planned on just watching 1-2 eps. tonight. Now I'm on episode 7 :lol:
At least I've got another show to look forward to now that Nisekoi has ended. XD

Sword Art Online II - Hope it's an improvement over the first season, specifically the second half. *shivers*
Sailor Moon Crystal - Nostalgia levels through the roof. :panic:
Sailor Moon - So happy the whole series is getting remastered with updated subtitles. :twothumbs Still have yet seen Sailor Stars. Looking forward to that.
Mobile Suit Gundam - Since I'm back on a gunpla building fix again why not watch the series that started it all.

I know I will follow Akame ga Kill and Tokyo Ghoul to the end. I will probably also follow SAO II to the end (but mostly because one of my friends is a big fan), but right now I am also following a few others (I'm interested in seeing how Gekkan Soujo will turn out)! :)

Finished that^, such a terrific series though could have used one more episode, just curious what happened at the X-Mas Comi-Pa.
Now on to Lucky Star, have actually had this DVD set for a few years but for some reason had never started on it, up to episode4, kind of silly and plotless but so far enjoyable.

Kill la Kill: I was hesitant at first about watching this anime. Then I heard the staff included people who worked on Gurren Lagann. Instantly watch the first 4 episodes back to back. :lol:

Man. Aldnoah Zero's last episode was just... Wow!~ :panic: :heart:
recap (spoilers!!!):
1. Its actually the bad guy's robot that does the cool giant robo merge. And as if their tech wasn't cheat-code OP enough, his mech gets all the powers of the past baddies. Like he was able to bring down the Deucalion even without that. The hero taking it down one weakness at a time was like an adrenalin rush. so cool.
2. Slaine, a Terran, turning on one of the aldnoah drive mechs. Basically laying lines for the next season's story. If it ain't powered up by DNA, then what? Will he turn into the hero next season? or end boss? or both?! so many possibilities.
3. Slaine saving Saazbaum from Inaho, inadvertently letting Saazbaum kill Princess Asseylum. The one thing he's trying to protect. Not that surprising, but so sad. Slaine practically goes nuts after this and kills Saazbaum (who looks like he hasn't slept for 3 weeks).
4. Then the scene I really liked. Inaho, who is heavily injured from the mecha battle, slowly crawling to the dead Princess Asseylum. Slaine telling "Orange"* to get the F*** away from her. Inaho turning his head around and saying "Bat". Inaho turns back to the princess and quickly turns around again with a gun, and gets shot instantly by Slaine.
First. The main heroine and hero both get killed. Shiiiii! Second, in most mecha shows these 2 guys would be so buddybuddy by season 2. None of that shit here. Instead we get Inaho who is always composed and quick at assessing everything, mark Slaine as an enemy both times they meet. He also smiles for like the first time in the entire season, pretty much aware he's gonna die. And Slaine pretty much nuts by the princess's death, and blaming everybody for it.
* This being the first time they meet in person. Inaho only knowing Slaine from a previous battle. Where Slaine nicknamed Inaho "Orange" cos Inaho's training mecha was orange colored. And Inaho calling Slaine "Bat" from the black carrier jet he was piloting.
5. All that dying. Probably a nice ending song to alleviate it. NOT!
Just the end credits with the sound of an icy cold wind. Further pushing what just happened.
6. Another season coming in 2015. Nice. And noting Asseylum's whereabouts were unknown. So Slaine must've took her. Could she have survived that many shots? Many some high tech stuff to get her back in some form. Not that I really care, but hey more possibilities.

Haven't checked out any of the other new shows yet. Too busy doing a marathon re-watch of Dragon Ball GT. :P
Will be checking the reviews today at ANN (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/) so I have a basic idea of the themes. Better to thin out the bunch before I dive in.

Need to catch up and finish the first season of Sailor Moon on Hulu before Sailor Moon R is shown. Too bad I didn't get to see the first 23 episodes of the new dub before they were removed on Hulu. :(

Have had the "Gunslinger Girl" box set for five years yet just viewed it for only the second time this weekend, :oops: watched all 13 episodes in one sitting and it's won't be another few years before it gets watched again, highly recommended. :thumbsup

I'd rather have the good ending rather than the perfect ending really, with saber having fun everyday life on fuyuki city
the true ending tells that archer will still appears as will of shirou yet it slightly different personality, which is the archer on HF. kinda make sense since you need to finish UBW to unlock HF route in the game.

Charlotte started interesting. Highschool kids suddenly getting super powers, but all of them having some kind of negative condition to them.
With our main character going all "Lelouch" with his power of going into someone else's body and controlling them, but its only for 5 seconds.
It turns into a fun romp with his new student council friends (when the student council leader girl blackmails him to help them, after recording him using his powers). Meeting other teens with super powers, and saving them from evil organizations.
It then does some crazy turns in the plot that could have just as easily been their own story (spoilers):
- a whole other storyline about his unknown big brother going back in time repeatedly to save them from their original fate of all becoming lab rats. Finally creating the school we've seen through the show, they use for hiding the super-powered teens. But losing a little of his eyesight every time he uses his powers, he eventually loses his power and becomes blind.
- main character's little sister dying. Finding out from his big brother, his power actually steals other user's powers in the short period he controls them. So he steals his bro's power of time travel to save their sister.
- Getting one eye blind after an evil organization takes his student council girl hostage. Understanding that these powers are too dangerous to exist, he attempts the near-impossible task of steal the powers of everyone in the world. With the student council leader girl giving him a set of reminder notes of basic words he could use overseas.
From the strain of these tens of thousands of powers he steals, he begins to lose himself. Unable to sleep from heightened senses, getting serious amnesia, becoming insane, and even questioning 'with all these powers why not just become god and rule over everything to create peace?'.
The reminder notes makes him remember his task though, even though he's forgotten every person and place he knew. It helps him continue along.
It has a sweet ending, with his big bro and his student council friends finding him, after he completes his task stealing the last user's power in China.
He goes through a lot, and loses his memory, but eventually saves everyone he can without falling to his powers.
The middle of the show gets pretty weak. But that last episode was some seriously emotional stuff.

Really getting into Macross Delta. Back in the olden times I was a teen and found Robotech here in the states. Immediately fell in love. As I found out that robotech was actually 3 different anime I began a journey to discover more. Fell in love with the Macross universe, and in Japan I came across Macross 7(I was getting VHS tapes every payday....yea I'm old). After going to my first anime con in '08(Sakura-con here in Seattle) I found out about Macross Frontier and found someone from Norway?(his account got canceled so can't look it up) that was putting up episodes up subbed in 3 parts. While waiting between episodes I went through his favorites and found Berryz kobo and C-ute and a new obsession began.

Watching some last season's animes which I hadn't got time to follow: Boku no Hero Academia (both seasons), Kuzu no Honkai, Fuuka, and Chinese adaptation anime called The King's Avatar (Quan Zhi Gao Sou is the original title, it's pretty good and unique)

Initial D and Wangan Midnight most intensely. I also watched a bit of Onihei on Amazon Prime a couple of weeks ago. That was surprisingly good. Just a classic Edo-era crime show with great sword fights.
