Picture download sites
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:50:48 PM »
Hello,

I didn't know where else to put this, but is anyone else having problems with the download site, especially Sharebee?  Seems everytime I go there to save some pics, there's some pop-ups that continue to appear, and some are pretty nasty causing my computer to lock up.

Any suggestions?  I have pop-blockers and malware protection, but these things are pretty consistant.  I think Sharebee is the worst of the lot.

Thanks,
D-R

Try doing the same thing in Google Chrome and see what happens.

Ok, I tried Google Chrome, and with Sharebee there wasn't a single unwanted pop-up, not even the advertising screen came up.  But when I chose Mega Upload and hit the download button, there was a pop up window.

Don't get me wrong, this is quite an improvement.  I was getting pop ups that were infecting my computer.  The Antivirus 2009 was the worst to get rid of...so,

Any ideas if I can get Firefox to do the same, or should I switch to Chrome?

Opinions?

Stick with chrome for now.  It's the most secure browser out there, so it'll keep you the safest through any bad pop-ups you're experiencing.  Push comes to shove, you could at least use it for those specific sites and use Firefox for everything else.

It's been a while since I used Firefox as my main browser, and even when I did I wasn't using anything but the necessary add-ons/plugins, but there are probably ones designed to help with the problems you're having.  If someone doesn't come along here who can help you solve the problem in firefox, I'd recommend posting on the Mozilla forums for Firefox support (http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php?c=4) since those guys would probably know just what you need.

You can also get AdBlock for Chrome, which should stop those odd pages from popping up..
