I know people have been talking about pokemon alot in the DS thread so I thought I'd make a new thread for it.
You can talk about anything related to the pokemon games here. Memories, strategies, favorite 6, or current 6, etc!

yay Pokemon! i haven't played any of the new games yet (i lack a DS and the emulators out there so far are crap, ROFL), but i've played through everything on the GB/GBC/GBA, and i love all the games. my copy of Crystal alone has 400+ hours on it. :lol:

i got blue for one of my birthdays a looong time ago...
then gameboy became obsolete and gameboy advanced emulators became awesome.
played emerald from there.
and now i just got Diamond for DS. (DS emulator runs it a bit slow tho)
But the DS has impressed me so much i may eventually get it, thus ending my long history of pokemon piracy.
that sounds like it should be a great game title actually.. "Pokemon Pirate".

well pokemon games is always the same, just different trainers, gym leaders, and most importantly, pokemon.
but i only like the Gold and Silver Version, because i don't recall Sapphire, Ruby, FireRed or LeafGreen have where you beat the Elite Four and fight in another Region...

So since the release of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, it seems the franchises popularity has risen a bit more hasn't it? I was at the mall today and they all sorts of t-shirts and the like.

Currently right now my team is made up of all-Eevee evolutions, so I can change it around a bit with the new extra ones :)

I've loved Pokemon ever since it first came out (for me that was 3rd grade). I have/played all the versions except for Crystal/Gold/Silver. That makes me kind of sad. XD But I have the other versions to occupy my obsession. XD

I have all the Pokémon Games! XD My favorites are Gold/Silver/Crystal... Because I like it, how you can travel from Johto to Kanto! :D
But I don't have Platinum yet :( The release for Platinum is may 22.... T_T

If you can find an import store Ayako, you could probably get a USA copy like I did (although it would be in English, haha) it'll still work on your DS :)

well I'm 24 and I got hook up into Pokemon when they first came out because of my cousins and kid tutoring at school... I was a bit embarrass when I went to Best Buy and picked up a copy of Platinum when it first came out in Canada, in front of me are all kids with their parents!

By the way: The official JP Pokémon website announced, that this autumn will be TWO new games released for the DS! (Of course first in Japan :banghead:) And guess what? It's the remakes for Gold and Silver!!! :w00t: The names of the Remake games of Gold and Silver are: HeartGold and SoulSilver!
Now enjoy this news! :D I was very excited, as I heard about this!

There should be a law written down somewhere about Pokemon starters: choose the Fire starter for some sort of a challenge, choose the Water starter to cruise through; in reference to difficulty of gyms. :thumbup

Been hearing rumors about another new pokemon game coming out with new pokemon new location and such. Idk if it's true the only thing I heard was like a Sandslash evolution. That would be sweet. Idk probably nothing but it would be cool

Well that would be stupid to remake red and blue they did that with Fire red and Leaf Green. I'm glad about the Gold and Silver remakes but something new would be nice though hopefully it's not another mistake like Platinum.

Well, Idols and Pokemon are my two absolute favorite things, so I'm going to make myself at home in this thread!
Heart Gold and Soul Silver are out in less than a week! I'm so excited! My girlfriend and I are each buying a version, so we can trade back and fourth between the two. I'm not sure what I want my team to be yet, but it will probably be something like this:

Heh started SoulSilver today and I just beat the first gym leader. Started with Totodile and so far, I'm not doing too bad. I'll probably take the PokeWalker for a whirl tomorrow.

He 1 hit KO'd EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY POKEMON, I didn't even get to hit the thing once :depressed:

^ Tip: train yourself with rematches against Gym leaders. New feature of HG/SS enables you to get their phone numbers at certain times and to call them for battles at certain times. Their levels aren't as high as Lance's, but it'll provide some good experience considering how you can re-battle them within their respective time slots. :)

So, I admit, I only ever finished Pokemon Red (even though I've also got Yellow, Crystal, Pearl, and now HeartGold). ... I'm currently playing HeartGold (loving it!), but I have a weird problem... you know when some trainers want your phone number so that they can call you if they want to fight again and such... well whenever trainers call me back for a fight, they won't fight me when I finally get to where they're at. @____@ so frickin frustrating. I get berries and items from trainers that call me to inform me that they've collected stuff for me to get, but the ones who call me back to battle don't let me battle when I go to them. What's the deal? D:

No idea. Mine works fine. They just never call enough. So many numbers and not one bothers to call to battle me with Level 100s XD They should give some trainers randomly stupidly strong pokemon XD

Yeah I completely agree. Between the 5th and 8th Gyms there is NO way to level up :/

I've been a fan since red and blue.
The only thing I have left to do in Heart Gold is beat the Battle Factory...
I never beat that in Platinum either. I swear the factory boss is like the greatest pokemon master ever.
He's like "You got about a 10% chance of beating me." And I'm like "PSHHHH 10%! *looks at roster* I got this."
And he'll pull something out of thin air (critical hit) and whoop my ass. :angry:

'Spoilers' for those who haven't gotten this far or haven't played Black/White yet:
One of the 3 monkeys are given to you free based on your starter. :grin: (fire monkey for water starter, grass monkey for fire starter, water monkey for grass starter) ...And later on, you're given a free elemental stone (necessary to evolve the monkeys), though you will be asked which monkey you want to evolve (I'm assuming that if you chose a monkey you don't have, you'll be given the corresponding stone anyways).
On another note: OMFG I can walk diagonally in this game XD

Team Plasma they are, but I've only ran into them twice so far. It's not especially hard to play B/W if you've studied Japanese for any appreciable amount (and have a dictionary (http://zkanji.sourceforge.net/) handy).

I was at a Pokemon event for Celebi today (had to wait around for 3 hours because of some technical difficulty :/)
and got 3 :D so many people were there crowded for the event because of the delay, so I transmitted a Deoxys into the crowd from Pokemon Ranger (everyone was constantly searching even though the download kiosk wasn't there yet, lol) and some kid (I hope anyways, lol) got it, I never found out who it was... lol

I heard someone mention Pokemon Stadium the other day.
Makes me wanna hook up that cartridge thing that went into the back of the N64 controller, plug in Pokemon Blue, and battle with my Pocket Monsters right on the big screen.
I've been thinking about getting into Pokemon again. If I get a 3DS, then I'll definitely resume.

I really don't regret getting Pokemon White at launch, even though I was kind of indifferent about it at the time. Changed my mind the moment I started it up, haha. What is it about this game that makes it feel like I'm playing Pokemon for the very first time? o_O; It can't just be the new Pokemon, can it? And if so, they definitely need to come up with a new set of 150 pokemon for every game from now on :yep:
To me it feels like leveling the pokemon is speedier and not as bothersome as with previous generations. That might just be me, though. I've always been slow about training my team *is a careful trainer*
... and now that I'm into this thing I need to remember to keep myself updated on downloadable gifts. I got the liberty pass, but yeah...
Munna is my new favourite Pokemon :wub:
As a side note, how come I only come across male Pokemon? o_o; I have like one female Pokemon, and the rest are all guys. Where the girls at? xD;

No it doesn't make a difference :D each pokemon has a ratio of male to female, so certain species get more or less males or females, depending on this ratio.
This is actually something to do with breeding again xD (sorry Twiss!!! XDDD) females are usually rarer because they can make babies of their species, but a lot of people (in previous games at least) prefer male pokemon because they can pass on TM's to their children, when TM's were one use only, this was more useful, but in B/W they're unlimited, so \o/ it's mostly for egg moves now.
(egg moves are moves that pokemon usually cannot learn, but if the father pokemon knows it, they can pass it onto the baby pokemon)

Whaa, I love the dowsing machine 8D Hahahaha and how nifty that you can assign more than one thing to the Y-button :hearts: small improvements, I love them.

This gag really made me think that an actual Pokémon game like this for the 3DS would have been an amazing addition to the series. The concept with virtual reality/searching for things in your actual surroundings seem to have worked out well for the Denpamen series (http://www.denpamen.com), so why not?

I'm probably about 3/4 of the way through (maybe not quite, but it seems I'm over halfway) and I absolutely adore this game. They made so many great improvements and I'm just having SOOOOO MUCH FUN in Alola.
