Can someone explain this to me?
I have been watching the theatre performance of AKB48 songs on YouTube, and I realize that there are 2 mirror walls/poles that stands at 20% and 80% location of the front of the stage? Is that just how the theatre was designed or they purposely did that?

its how the building is designed.
The theater is on the 8th floor of an big building.

the stage mirrors there basically have two effects: 1, they double the persons standing on the stage, so even more virtual girls.^^ 2, they simply make the room look bigger than it is. On a third note, while standig backwards to the audience the girls can see the audience or the other girls, maybe they can coordinate their dancing better with those mirrors. but all this may be wrong. sole purpuse of the mirrors is ... the girls can steadily check their outfits and make-up during performances.

- there was even a feature about those pillars, Acchan introduced them quite happily XXXXD

They wouldn't be there if they weren't necessary. We just have to live with them.

It looks like SKE doesn't have pillars blocking the view, but to me the place they perform looks smaller.

Actually it maybe a bit small but at least there's no "2 pillars of death"!!!

Also the stage that SKE performs (Sunshine Sakae, 2F "Sunshine Studio) has a bar lounge in it with a damn good DJ stand. Check out their website @ http://www.canaria.asia/studio.html

If you know a stage and you know where your favorite(s) will be most of the time, the pillars are not much of a problem - if you get inside in time to get a got seat / place, that is.
But that doesn't mean I don't hate them.

Lol, that was weird

Yuko really did ehr best witht he dance. Who was the one on the left (our left), she seemed to be a bit lacking during the dancing bit.

Ah thanks. I thought it was Kasai, but I didn't know she doesn't have the 'tomo' from 'tomodachi' in her name (like Itano has).
