Let's brainstorm! Weekly review suggestion

Why do I always come up with massive project ideas

Anyway!

How would you feel about weekly/monthly chances to review H!P albums and singles? Would you be interested in listening and reviewing them, even ones by groups that currently aren't your favourites?

The reviews would be in association with reviving the H!P discography thread in the Asshole, since somebody would need to upload the songs for others to sample.

I am opening a discussion for this because I need opinions, feedback etc.!

Brainstorming and problems:

1. I was thinking of featuring one album and 2-3 singles a week. Too much? Too little? Should the album be once a month instead?
Problem: How to decide which album and singles are featured?
I would suggest going by release order because constant new releases would complicate a randomized system (and they are already discussed in the news section, anyway). It would mean that we'd start old school, give the new fans a chance to see what H!P was like at the beginning and perhaps discover songs/groups that they would've ignored otherwise.

2. If both reviews were weekly, album and single discussion would be started on different days of the week (for example, album on Tuesday and singles on Saturday). This is so that nobody would be discouraged by the feeling of having to review so much at once and ending up not taking part at all.

3. The hard work part:
a.) In order to do this we would need a complete list of H!P releases, and if we were going by release order, we'd need to have the release dates, as well. So... Who would be crazy enough to work on that? I'm currently too busy with studies myself. (One could also just do one group at a time, then we'd combine them at the end into one loooong list... So it could be done as a group effort instead of just one person working their butt off :3)
b.) We'd need volunteers to upload the songs for others to sample.

4. Once the list was ready it would be posted available to everyone so that anyone could open a new thread once it was time for new review discussion.

5. And yes, each review would get their own thread, which would most likely remain open, so even if you were late with your review it wouldn't matter.


SO I guess it's a lot to think about, but would anyone be interested in something like this? Ideas, suggestions, bumshake?

Oh and about the reviews. Well, this would be everyone's chance to pretend they were a music reviewer for a magazine or some shit. You could potentionally have a lot of fun with it. Come up with your own review system and so on (stars? thumbs up/down? school grading? going by one song at a time or the whole album/single? etc)

I don't have time right now to do all the organizing, though. After the first couple of weeks in December I'll be out of school for awhile, and I could help then if you're willing to wait that long/can't find anyone else.

i'm down for compiling and reviewing, but i wouldnt be able to upload a lot of music since i lost a great deal in my hdd crash and haven't really replace a lot of my H!P stuff.  i love reviewing things, i used to do weekly quick reviews on my xanga back in the day, write for nandake, i even wrote for ikimasshoi for a short while.

anyway, since i dont do shit all day i can start working on the list tomorrow.

- There's no rush to start this thing, I know that this is about the busiest time of the year for most people: it's before Xmas so everyone has exams or busy time at work... So yeah. Maybe if we could get it started in January, that might be nice ?_?

- If someone does start working on it *looks at tenkei*, it'd be nice if you could post brief updates here so we won't have a lot of people working on the same thing. And you might inspire others to help.

- You don't need to be a good writer to take part. It's just for fun :3 And hey, you can only get better if you practice. Also, one of my lecturers said you never really know what you think until you've written it down... Which I've found to be true in some cases...

- If you don't have time to take part every week, it's ok. Just do it when you can & feel like it

GJ tenkei!!!!  

Have you worked on all H!P artists ever or just the main ones? I think there are some past H!P soloists that kind of came and disappeared mysteriously, etc. And all the one-time units, shuffles... Wah there's a lot x__X

I think it'd be nice to have them arranged by date... So if you only still have some energy left... That would be hawt :3

Cool that I found this thread, cuz I was totally thinking about creating a jphip review team, that reviews everything. Hear me out.

The JPH!P review team will review anything and everything they want to review by using a 1-5 scale with no fucking half points.

1=Damn, the reviewer really hated this to the point that they threw up during the review process
2=There might be a few good points, but the review didn't like this very much
3=This thing is pretty good, but there are things that the reviewer didnt like
4=HOT DAMN! The review really liked this, this can be recommended to anyone, but there are a few things that stop it from being great
5=GREAT! The reviewer really loved this

Hopefully, you got the sense that the rating scale is completely based on how Reviewer X enjoyed Item Y! From what I noticed from review outlets that they have some variation of the 100 point perfect scale and they try to bill themselves as the definite voice, when that isn't the case. With all the stuff being released everywhere across the world, there has to be a filter, and if this idea gets adopted, The JPH!P review team can be that filter. We review what we want, speak our minds on it and leave the ultimate decision to the person reading the review.

I like what this thread was going for with the H!P stuff, but how about expanding from H!P stuff to everything is up to review. Maybe we can get broken down into different teams (H!P team, Kpop team) but still everyone can review what they want to review, even if they are in a team of some sort. But what if 2 or more people want to review the same thing, we can do that as well, more opinions the better for the reader.

I really like rating scale AND the idea of reviewing everything, especially if it is broken down into teams... there could be teams for the SNSD section, the AKB48 section, etc.

So yeah. If this is something that is able to happen/something that everyone is cool with... I'm all over this.
