Title: J-Drama/Movie Discussion and Postwhoring Thread
Post by: maliciel on October 05, 2005, 01:48:00 PM
Okay, so I'm thinking there's probably tons of you who watch doramas here in JPH!P. So, here I am, making a (previously non-existent) dorama thread. Particularly because sometimes we all just need a good drama to get our emotions back on track. Write about your experience watching doramas, who's your favourtie actor, and so on! Also, recommendations would be good, since I'm always looking for a nice dorama.

One of the best doramas ever is Koukou Kyoushi 2003 (http://jdorama.com/drama.646.htm). It stars a few familiar faces, like Ueto Aya (上戸彩), Sonim (ソニン) and Kyomoto Masaki (京本政樹;  he has funky hair).

The storyline is as follows..

A schoolgirl, Machida Hina (Ueto) goes out with her friend, Kudo Beniko (Sonim). Both of them get split up, and in the process, Hina meets a man, named Ikumi (Fujiki Naohito; 藤木直人). Hina sleeps over at his house, claiming to be a 21 year old. Imagine her surprise, when he turns up as a teacher in her class the next day..

Overall, a nice romantic dorama. Alot of plot twists, but not too much that it becomes cliched. Definitely a nice dorama, 9/10.

Note : If you're posting anything that could ruin someone else's viewing experience (a spoiler), please post it in mini-text.

MOD EDIT:

DOMO might be a tad too specific for some people so I figured we could have one of these threads. Feel free to talk about anything really - actors and actresses you're currently fond of, x got married with y, recommend old and/or running dramas, ask random questions etc.

basically this is now the DOMO random discussion/postwhoring thread.

Koukou Kyoushi is awesome. I forget which episode it is, but within in it, you'll witness the GREATEST COUP IN COCKBLOCK HISTORY!!! Guaranteed to make you go "DAAAMN!! THAT'S SOME SERIOUS COCKBLOCKERY!!!"  I was in awe of the cockblockery that had just occured. One for the history books.....

Actually Densha Otoko is the only jdorama I've watched completely. Quite nice. I liked it.

Ah~!! ^o^ Other than a jpop addiction, I have a penchant for following jdorama and that includes religiously downloading every single episode of nearly every dorama raw there is on D-addicts.

( I say 'nearly' coz I used to really watch everything but have been kinda tired lately so I started practicing selective viewing. )

Off the top of my head, recent doramas that I found more memorable would be :

Tobosha ( Eguchi Yosuke/ Mizuno Miki )
H2 ~ Kimi to Itahibi ( Yamada Takayuki/ Ishihara Satomi/ Ichikawa Yui )
Sekai no Chushin de Ai wo Sakebu ( Yamada Takayuki/ Ayase Haruka )
Umizaru ( Ito Hideaki/ Kato Ai )

Hmm... Okay! Enough rambling first thing in the morning. :P

I've watched only Yanpapa and Koinu no waltz completely so far...

Yanpapa is nice, has Maki :D , Miku Ishida and a cute Japanese guy... Well, it's a bit "embarrasing" at times, but funny and Maki is super hot. The cute Japanese guy falls in love with the mom of Maki and Miku's characters and they get together even if the cute guy is much younger... Then the mom dies and things get a bit crazy. (I don't think the death is a spoiler because it happens so early.)

Koinu no waltz didn't have subs so I didn't understand anything. But it has blind piano player Nacchi, Narumi Konno and Miura Rieko who has an awesome voice (fo sho). So... It was worth it even though it had a fucked up, crazy storyline

I haven't finished Good Luck and Orange Days yet, but they seem awesome. Good Luck has Takuya Kimura and it's about... Flying (airplanes) and of course romance... Orange Days has a deaf character and is very much about romance as well... Both of these dramas have the super sexy Kou Shibasaki and are both funny yet tear-jerking, like good dramas are supposed to be.

& I have Beautiful Life downloaded, but I haven't even started watching it. o_o

I just watched Densha Otoko Another Finale SP which mainly focused on Densha's rich friend with the side story of "Guitar Otoko". The very end of this special with Densha and Hermes was funny :).

Yeah, the Another Finale SP was pretty funny. Sonim was so cute (read : hot) in it, and I didn't think the Tigers otaku was suffering so much..;_; Sonim sounds a little like Yui with her way of speech haha.

Densha Otoko is good. Everyone get it! :D

I'm getting that kamisama show now, it better be good

Well the best thing about Another finale was that it was one episode more Densha. But I as an extra episode I didn't find it so good. Just scenes cut out from actual series tied together with light storyline. Maybe it's better to see these scenes like this rather than just put them into a dvd though.

Densha Otoko was really good, I couldn't enough of it. Too bad it had to end :(

That was my favourite from last year. ^^

I am currently trying to finish the last season drama, Jyoou no Kyoushitsu, just 2 more episode to go. It's pretty entertaining.

From last few season, I would recommend Tiger & Dragon, Densha Otoko, Jyoou no Kyoushitsu and Anego.

For current season, I highly recommend Ichi Ritoru no Namida and Hana Yori Dango! ^^

Hana Yori Dango! Yay!

I love the girl who plays Tsukushi. She's soo cute! And I love her expressions that she makes! :)

Oh yeah, Matsumoto Jun and Oguri Shun are part of the F4, of course. Nice eyecatch!

And final thing! Matsushima Nanako is in it too!

gokusen 2 wasn't that bad, but i think the cast from gokusen 1 was a lot better. and it had Nakazawa Yuko, Matsumoto Jun (Hana Yori Dango that Fenrir13 mentioned above) and Itoh Misaki (you're under arrest Live Action, Densha Otoko, and a bunch more).

I think a classic that everyone should see is Great Teacher Onizuka. Fracking hilarous. (or you could just read the manga/watch the anime, but this drama has it's own flavor)

imho, Gokusen 1 was overall, a better production than Gokusen 2...
Tiger & Dragon was EXCELLENT!!!...
Hanadan is wicked AWESOME!!!...
Tsukushi YEAH!!! ^o^...
But I'm also quite liking Nobuto wo Produce and Brother Beat. :P...
I would recommend watching 1-Litoru no Namida in between Hanadan and Nobuta wo Produce. Less upsetting that way. >_<...

it just occured to me that now i'm back on campus with "relatively free" highspeed internet that i can set up my ftp again.

so here it is:

http://ftp://vicmu.homeftp.net/
login: jpmx
password: jpmx

(or just click this http://ftp://jpmx:jpmx@vicmu.homeftp.net)

inside is....
Boku Dake no Madonna (currently being subbed by JTV; up to ep 3)
Densha Otoko (subbed by TV-Nihon; complete)
Great Teacher Onizuka (subbed by JTV; complete including special and movie)
Hana Yori Dango (subbed by SARS-Fansubs; up to episode 5, 6 downloading via bittorrent right now)
with random stuff in the JPOP folder (mostly PVs)

ignore the wasabi files.. they're subtitle files for my wasabi dvd which only has chinese subtitles for some reason.

if you see something that i don't have and you would like to share, please please please upload it to my uploads folder. how? Internet Explorer should let you treat the ftp like a regular folder, so you should be able to drag and drop files into the uploads folder.

if the ftp link is down, that means either a) the computer is turned off/defragging/whatever, or b) i've gone on holidays and the link should return after a few days.

my exam being what it is should have the ftp mostly on between now and december 21. it will be off until... january 3 ish...

enjoy... (and please upload)

Erika <3

I just started watching 1 Litre Of Tears. I watched the first episode on Friday night, fell in love with Erika Sawajiri and watched the episodes 2-8 on Saturday. I just love 1 Litre even though it's so sad and messed up. I hate watching it and knowing that there won't be a happy ending but thanks to Erika's amazing performance, I just can't stop watching. I can't wait for the 9th episode, the preview looked crazy sad once again

I'm crushed. Hanadan, for all it's awesomeness, is a miserable, pathetically puny 9 episodes. So after this week? No more Tsukushi! No more Domyouji! No more Rui! No more Soujirou! No more Akira!

Thank goodness there's still Nobuta wo Produce, Ai no Uta and Brother Beat. These 3 can continue to even out all the  from 1-Litoru no Namida for me. >_<

Seriously though. If you're up to jdorama watching, 1-Litoru no Namida, Nobuta wo Produce and Hana Yori Dango are the 3 "must not miss" doramas. This season's doramas have been TOTALLY enjoyable! GREAT end to the year!!

I've broken down and begun to watch the TV drama version of "Sekachu."

The movie version, which I watched earlier this year, was one of the most moving and sob-heavy stories I've ever seen and I include "Aishiteru to Ittekure" (a GREAT J-drama) in that statement.  For that reason, I wanted to leave the movie experience unsullied by other interpretations and talents (Aki WAS Nagasawa Masami, never mind Ayase wasserface).

But the drama is now playing on local TV here in Hawaii and I have decided, well, I may as well relive the inevitable.  Two chapters down and...  well, a LOT of people at work insisted that the drama was better than the movie.  I don't see it yet; perhaps later.

For those of you wondering about 15 Sai no Blues, it is part of Division 1 (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Division_1):
Quote
Fuji-TV reserves the late-night time period to be used for experimental projects, giving up-and-coming young screenwriters, producers and directors a place to develop their skills and televise their works. Each renzoku drama last about four weeks. The cast is made up of young artistes who are either already established in the geinoukai, or are relatively unknowns looking for the chance to appear on television. The subject matters covered also cater to the younger viewing audience.

Watching 'BYAKUYAKOU' (http://www.tbs.co.jp/byakuyakou/) now and it definitely confirms that the general tone of the doramas this season is that of sobriety.

But something that REALLY tickled me was that in one scene, the child Ryoji was wearing a green top that said the following :

"What a lucky boy I am! Fortune turns for me"

If you watch 'Byakuyakou', stop at 49:18 and you'll see what I'm talking about. :P Given the context of the dorama at that point, think you might just see why I'm tickled. :D

Post by: Saburo on January 30, 2006, 05:51:42 AM
Four episodes of the TV version of "Sekachu" have been completed.

I still have a difficult time accepting Ogata Naoto as the grown-up Saku.  The transistion from teenage grief to adult reflection doesn't really work for me.

And yet...  the 80s sequences jell.  I have finally accepted Ayase Haruka as someone who actually could break my heart in 11th grade.  Yamada Takayuki is as talented a high school student in love (and grief) as he is a 10-karet wota.

On to episode 5...

Just finished HanaDan today too.  MatsuJun already looks girly enough, in this I must say he looks more girly than I ever thought possible.  But he gets to kiss Inoue Mao early on, which is cool.  I LOVE her smile, with her big bright white teeth.  So cute.

1litre was good. i didn't get all emo over it like everyone else though. i still say nobuta was the best dorama of last season~

this season i'm watching mostly Ns' Aoi, but mal and suki have turned me onto Unfair, which is really cool. I'm also trying to watch Byaku Yakou, but the SARS is taking their time with the subs...

I started rewatching Manhattan Love Story (http://jdorama.com/drama_786.htm) yesterday. It's really a good drama, more people should watch it. You can get it at d-addicts, but unfortunately there are no subs...

From what I understand, the subbing team for Unfair is apparently concentrating on creating hard subs for the series, which is why to date, there are only 2 episodes of it out. Which is quite 'tsk' coz honestly, if there was one single dorama that I would recommend to everyone to watch this season, that's the one. But that series is really quite a bit hard to watch without subs.

Next would be 'Byakuyakou' but personally, even though it's a well-written dorama, I personally find it very hard to watch continuously because it's so dark. >_< It's quite heavy-going. o_O

So far after having gone through 8 weeks of the season, my ranking to watch will be :

Unfair
Byakuyakou
Yaoh
Kami wa Saikoro wo Furanai
Rondo
N's Aoi
Saiyuuki
Jikou Keisatsu
Kuitan

The last three I wouldn't suggest touching unless you happen to like lameness. :P

I agree. Alway after watching one episode, I'm like "o_o;; woah..."
Also the reason why I haven't watched the latest eps is because it's not the most easiest drama to understand for someone whose Japanese is no perfect. Especially the one cop who speaks insane kansai-ben... I mean, I'm SO used to hear kansai-ben, I hear it everyday, but I still don't understand all what he speaks x_x

I just watched Yaoh 8, it's getting better with every ep. I was all screaming "NATSUKI YOU'RE SO ADORABLE" and smiling in this ep XD

Good for you. >_< My Kansai-ben comprehension sucks but that's beside the point...

( Potential spoiler... )

I just want to attack that idiotic policeman with a chair every single time he appears on screen and just scream at him "LEAVE THEM ALONE AND RETIRE ALREADY YOU OLD FOOL!!". He's annoys me no end coz he keeps INSISTING on getting to the bottom of the murder of Ryoji's father and if you ask me, ALL the tragedy that follows from episode 2 onwards stems from HIM, that STUPID old man!! That and Yukio's preoccupation with getting even with the world for her sucky life. ARGH~!! *tears at hair* :x

My heart skipped 2 beats watching Yaoh 7. Mabo looked SO SUAVE cleaned up and in that new suit.

Mabo... *swoons*

I felt so bad for Natsuki in Yaoh 8. Hikaru ought to have his face smashed in. Meanie!!! :x

Ok, I gotta do some pimping for Gachibaka, which stars Masuda Takahisa and Tegoshi Yuya from NewS.  Its being subbed by Kioku Fansubs, who did the subs for 1 Litre, which is really the only reason I checked it out.... Well, that and the opening theme song is Hallelujah by AAA!  The ending song is Best of Hero by Kuraki Mai.  Anyway, the first six eps are subbed now, and are available for DL on d-addicts.

I don't know if I can accurately say, since I haven't watched alot of doramas to begin with.  For me personally, it didn't take much to get into the story, and its been fun to watch.  Its silly and touching, and has all the elements or normal television, and its done well.  Corny where you need some cornyness, and serious when it needs to be serious.  I'm certainly enjoying it, AAA and Mai K's songs as the intro and end certainly don't harm it at all, either.

I had a great time watching it. I especially liked the first episodes where the plot was mostly centered around the Kids, these were really moving.

Finished with Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu a few Days ago.
Up until the 7th Ep it didn't got me hooked that much. But till then it was really intense with the drame and sadness increasing from ep to ep.
The last ep was really the ultimate ending to me, everything was perfect and extremely moving but with a spark of Hope at last.

A hhhh dunno how to start this thread but i think this movie "Kung-Fu Kun" will definitely be hilarious! especially with Mari Yaguchi in it and of course my favorite actress! Ueno Juri! the actress who played Nodame in Nodame Cantabile.

for some reason i cant find it on wiki and drama wiki but i will be posting the details later.

Title: The DOMO 'anything goes' thread
Post by: Ayabie on March 09, 2009, 10:32:19 PM
DOMO might be a tad too specific for some people so I figured we could have one of these threads. Feel free to talk about anything really - actors and actresses you're currently fond of, x got married with y, recommend old and/or running dramas, ask random questions etc.

What sparked me to create this isn't probably a good starter, but yeah...

Ito Atsushi (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ito_Atsushi)'s (aka Densha Otoko) younger brother Takahiro (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ito_Takahiro) commited suicide

They're filing it as suicide through CO poisoning at the moment.

^ yikes that sucks man.

One of the few doramas I watched, Love Complex ranks HIGH on my list. Stars Takashi Sorimachi and Karasawa Toshiaki - along with the sweet sensual Kimura Yoshino and sexy Koyuki. About some office shenangians, Takashi Sorimachi is sent to get to the bottom of things.

Highly recommended, esp. get the uncensored version where Secretaries seduce ...EACH OTHER!! :jerk:

It's so off the wall. It's like a watching a fucking cartoon. Check that shit out!

Title: Gothic & Lolita Psycho
Post by: nimrod on May 26, 2010, 01:12:26 AM
Yuki (Gravure Idol Rina Akiyama) is a girl who lives at home in peace, until one day a unit of assassins breaks in and slaughters her mother.

In order to reveal the truth behind the seemingly senseless murder, Yuki transforms herself into a demon of vengeance by donning gothic lolita clothing, wielding a parasol as a deadly weapon, and executing the guilty in the name of God.

After the Earthquake and tsunami that struck Sendai, a lot of my friends remembered and started talking about this movie called "A Tale of Mari and 3 Puppies."

This 2007 Japanese movie is based on the story of a real family and their dogs that was caught in the 2004 Niigata earthquake. It's a very touching movie that tugs at the heart.

For movies you can try Real Onıgokko 1 and 2. Basically the Tosochu game show with electric glove deaths.

nandake..? (http://nandake.com/) REVIEWS DRAMAS! check it out they take on "Asuko March" and reply:

i don't know why | asuko march (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drgl8uO1Lb8#ws)

Quote from: nandake..?

There are plenty of dramas each season and a few of them are good, but most of them are not. Asuko March may be a couple of seasons old now, but I’ve only recently got around to finishing it up, so take the jump and see where this high school comedy lands.

Asuko March tells the story of Yoshino Nao, played by new megastar Takei Emi, a first year high schooler who enrolls at Asuka Technical High School, AKA Asuko. Yoshino is your typical girly girl, and as one of only three female first years at Asuko, obviously her enrollment is due to some regrettable error. Yoshino hates the school at first; she hates being the only girl in her class, she hates that the girls’ locker room is so far away, she hates that the boys are all uncouth and vulgar. With this setup, you can already see where Asuko March is going. Yoshino will see the error of her ways and make friends with the boys that make up the overwhelming majority of her classmates. Of course, at first she’ll try to bail out, transfer to a more normal school where girls are just as plentiful. But as time goes on Yoshino will make lifelong memories to cherish, learn life lessons, and probably fall in love. Oh, and she’s going to run. A lot.  (http://nandake.com/2011/08/20/run-dreams/)

Basically this is now for random discussions and postwhoring about J-dramas, movies, actors, actresses that don't have (or don't warrant) their own threads. a few topics have been merged into this thread as well because they only had a few posts and were oooollldddd lol.
