CHAPTER 2 Part 2
Both of us stared at each other for a moment until the pair of doe eyes went wide and mouth agape, as if the creeper realized that she was caught in the act. She hastily stood up straight and bowed her head while saying the word ‘gomen’ repeatedly like a broken record.
I can't help but to smile a little. Even if this girl looks and acts weird, she's actually… cute.
Wait,
WHAT.
Jurina, zombies aren't cute, I reminded myself. Zombies are supposed to have ghastly features, their mouths are supposed to be hanging wide open, with not more than three teeth that are poorly attached. Zombies’ skins are supposed to be rotting and discolored and disgusting.
But this zombie is different, she’s an exception. This zombie is pretty –no, she's beautiful.
"What the hell?" I mumbled. I shook my head, shaking my head to get rid those stupid thoughts. Seriously, STUPID.
After making sure that my thoughts are perfectly clean and zombie-free, I turned my attention back to Zombie who is still bowing. I stare at her in amusement, isn’t she tired continuously bowing her head and saying the same words for minutes? As a good person that I am, I decided to stop her from her almost ridiculous action.
"Oi, Matsui-san?" I called her but it seems like she didn’t hear me.
"Matsui-san!" I raised my voice a bit louder this time and fortunately, she stopped bowing and stood up straight.
"Err, yes?"
"Can I ask you a question?"
"S-sure."
I can see that she feels uncomfortable since she keeps on swinging her arms on her side. She also keeps her gaze everywhere but me.
"Why were you on top of me? Well, not really but it looks like it."
What I said caught Zombie off guard. I inwardly smirked, watching her gulping every second and nervously biting her lips is seriously amusing. She was silent for a moment until she looked at me straight in the eyes and spoke confidently, "There was a fly on your face."
Good one, I grinned, "I see. Why the need to caress my hair, though?"
I pursed my lips together, trying not to laugh hard when her eyes went a bit wide for the second time today, she lowered her head and her voice wavered as she spoke, "B-because the fly w-went to your hair?"
Tsk, what a bad a liar. I shook my head, a small grin forming on my face. Zombie cleared her throat and suddenly sat next to me, her aura changed in a nick of time and she was back to her cool self.
"Anyway, let's not talk about those things, alright?" Yep, cool-Zombie is back. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and entertained herself with it.
"Whatever." I shrugged. I am now left with my own thoughts which remind me, what the hell is she doing here?
"Hey, Matsui-san.” I lightly tapped Zombie’s shoulders. She let out a yelp and slightly jumped on her seat. Pffftt, cute.
"Y-yes?"
"What are you doing here?"
Her brows furrowed, "Because I skipped class?"
"No, not like that." I paused for a second to think of proper words to say, "I mean Yuki is your sister, right?"
She rolled her eyes in annoyance, I can't blame her though. Imagine having Princess Kashiwagi as your sister.
"Step sister." She corrected.
"Fine. Since she's your step sister, you're probably rich as well."
She looked at me in confusion, "I do admit we have money I don’t think I get what you’re trying to say."
"Why are you here in the rooftop? Rich kids don’t like dirty places, right?"
Zombie’s sister is Princess the so-called Diva. They’re both rich. Princess hates this place. Zombie hates this place too, right?
"Oh, that's what you mean." She grinned and nodded her head. "Let's just say that I’m not one of those kinds of rich kids and besides, this place isn't even dirty."
Zombie looked around, confused and wondering why would rich kids label this place as dirty. Even though we've only met for a couple of hours, I already believe her words. Inspecting her from head to toe, she really doesn't look like Princess and her sidekicks. Instead of going against the rules and wearing expensive dresses that probably costs more than our house, she wears our school uniform, she doesn't wear it properly though.
Speaking of not proper, my eyes dropped on her exposed stomach. Is that a pierce on her bellybutton? I stared at it for a long time. That must hurt a lot. Poor Zombie, I can imagine her screaming in pain while the piercing is being attached.
"Liking the view?"
I was pulled out from my train of thoughts. I raised my head back to Zombie’s face and saw her smirking.
"What view?" I asked, confused.
"You're staring at my stomach –no scratch that, you're staring at my ABS for a long time." She proudly stated, emphasizing the word ‘abs’, as if having people stare at it is such an achievement.
"Sorry to burst your bubble but I wasn't staring at your so-called abs." I retorted, rolling my eyes. Pffftt Zombie is so full of herself.
"B-but you were staring at it for a long time?" She pouted.
Wow,
ZOMBIE
JUST
POUTED
I blinked a few times, surprised at the scene before me. Okay, Zombie is honestly cute like, seriously.
"And now you're staring at my face. Jurina-san, I think you like me already." I was pulled out from my trance once again after Zombie let out a cocky remark.
What? Me? Liking her? Hell no.
I scoffed, “I would never like you, Rena-san."
I don't know if I was just imagining things or what but I think I just saw her smug expression reflects hurt but that's impossible. Yup, it was just really my imagination since she started to laugh out loud.
"Let’s see about that, Jurina-san. I'll make sure that you would fall for me. Hard." She proudly declared.
I rolled my eyes. Now she’s challenging me? Piece of cake, "As if that would happen."
Her proud smirk was quickly replaced with a pout.
Damn it. My eyes, as if on cue, automatically stared at her –ahem– lips.
That pout.
That pout is freakin’ DEADLY.
"You're cute." Did I just say that out loud?! I was surprised at my own words that I immediately felt my cheeks getting warm. Geez Jurina, you're such a baka! And now you’re even blushing!
But what surprised me the most is when Zombie looked down shyly. Guess she’s changed to the shy-Zombie again. She’s blushing even harder than me.
I swear blushing Zombie is SO ADORABLE.
"E-err I need to g-go." Zombie stuttered and bowed. She wasted no time and rushed towards the door, stumbling while doing so.
I can't help but to giggle slightly. ZOMBIE IS SO CUTE, FINE I ADMIT IT.---
My lips curved into a smile as I replayed those scenes in my mind.
'Rena is so cute' Now that I finally admitted it, I seem to say it to myself more often than I wanted to. Not that I mind though, she’s really cute. A few more minutes and I felt my eyes getting heavy and it was not long before I was drifted into
lala-land, still with a weird and cute zombie on my mind.
