nice, more j-indie bands need to come to the westcoast of the US, and I'm not talking about the popular mainstream ones like ellegarden, etc. Envy came once for a little festival and I fuckin missed it. And I missed when tsushimamire came here a couple times; one I didn't know about, and one cause I was a year too young for the venue at the time...

and after watching that, I think I need to give that 54-71 album a listen to. Wasn't a big fan from the stuff I've heard before.

Melt-banana, Boris, Polysics, Tsushimamire, Mono, and a few other bands seem to have american tours pretty often. (Like, annually.)

Of course their tour dates are never closer than two hours drive away from me, and they always seem to fall on busy nights/take place in 21+ clubs so I've never actually seen them live. But dammit I know they come!

In England I have seen Polysics, Mono, Boris, Vola & the Oriental Machine, Doping Panda, Bo-Peep, Levelload, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Cornelius and Soil & "PIMP" Sessions. I couldn't make it to Melt-Banana because I had been to two other gigs in the same week and spent way too much!

I know what you mean iacus, a lot of these bands play in small clubs/ pubs. I saw Polysics in a tiny pub in Manchester and they played to less than 100 people on a tiny stage. However the legal drinking age here is 18, so of course they are 18+ gigs.

Has anyone seen Acid Mothers Temple live? They have been to the UK twice this year and I was not really interested, but I was told they are very good live and they are coming back in November.

A friend of mine went to a show and apparently they sucked big time. He said they seemed drunk/high (for real, not a matter of how they usually look) and couldn't do anything right, a disaster.

I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I would probably go see them if it wasn't too expensive or too much of a pain in the ass.

Thats sort of alone the line of what I am thinking. I mean I didn't really know much about Boris before I saw them and they were great. I don't normally like psychedelic/experimental music, but I think it would be good live. I think i'll make my mind up closer to th time  XD

I sort of got the feeling that Acid Mother's Temple are SUPPOSED to be fucked up during their gigs. :P

Ahah, I guess you're right, though the "couldn't do anything right" part is still kinda crucial

That's Acid Mothers Temple & the Cosmic Inferno. The band that's touring Britain is Acid Mother's Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O.

Same people, different band. Don't exactly know what the difference is.

AMT is a collective... kinda like h!p lol

Melting Paraiso UFO is the main band, they play the psychedelic, free-form shit
Cosmic Inferno has a few different members and they play more hard rock psychedelic stuff, more effects, etc
AMT Afrirampo is the main AMT dudes with the two members of Afrirampo and they kinda experimental jazz shit
Pink Ladies Blues is the only AMT group that doesnt contain Kawabata and its mostly ex-members of early AMT formations, they play psychedelic blues

and there's a bunch of others groups: Gong, Guru Guru, SWR, Mothers of Invasion, Incredible Strange Band...

AMT is crazy

I believe pikachu from afrirampo (the drummer) is a part of the cosmic inferno band now.

SWR is the only one I've really listened to very much of. That's mostly cause I'm a total fanboy for tatsuya yoshida
