Didn't the Joker die in the last film he was in?
A lot of news to get through today, so let’s get things started.Last night, Christopher Nolan and the gang debuted a special IMAX presentation for a lucky group of NY press: the first six minutes of his upcoming Dark Knight, meant to introduce Ledger’s Joker to audiences and to stand alone as a “short film.”I won’t reprint the shot-for-shot descriptions of the sequence (mainly because I’d rather not spoil things for myself), but the spoiler-immune can check them out here and here.UGO had some choice praise for the Ledger’s performance, saying: “Know that it is badass. Forget Nicholson, “The Laughing Fish,” Caesar Romero, Mark Hamill and The Killing Joke. Heath Ledger’s Joker is THE definitive Joker.”Personally, I’ll believe it when I see it, but similar reports from Wizard have thrown the hype machine into overdrive.Starting next weekend though, you can be the judge, when the footage appears before select IMAX screenings of I Am Legend (and, in all likelihood, on your computer screen soon thereafter). And while Nolan was busy giving away his beginning, Will Smith was leaking the ending to the aforementioned I Am Legend during the movie’s press tour of Japan. PR asked those present to ignore Smith’s gaff and keep the secret to themselves; almost surprisingly, it seems like the plea has worked… so far.
