She Was Never Really There [TechiNeru]

“Run. Just keep on running. Don’t stop, Hirate Yurina,” I told myself as I was running.

I didn’t know why I was running. All I could remember was that I had to keep on running and never stop. What reason did I have for running like this? Was I being chased? Was I chasing someone else? I didn’t have the answers to my own questions.

The city lights blinded me as I ran down the street. People stared at me as I ran past them. Their gazes felt threatening, as if they were targeting me. I sped up my run as I tried to escape them.

The next thing I knew I was running down a dark alleyway. The darkness terrified me. I could feel something lurking in the shadows. Someone or something was definitely waiting for me. I had to escape them.

The headlights from the passing cars illuminated the bridge that ran over the river below. I stopped running as I made it halfway across the bridge. All the running finally caught up to me and I was exhausted. I tried to catch my breath, but I suddenly felt a push from behind me.

---***---

I have been stuck in this hospital ever since that incident. It wasn't so bad at first. My friends and family visited me often. I was happy to see them. But one day they suddenly stopped visiting.

It felt lonely not being able to see them. I felt threatened by the people in this place. There was a feeling in my stomach that told me I couldn't trust them. But there was one person that I knew I could trust, Nagahama Neru.

Neru was the first person to talk to me when I arrived at this place. She still accepted me even after hearing about what happened to me. You could even say that she became the light that dispelled the darkness from my heart.

“Yurina-chan, what are you doing? You look lost in thought.” Neru asked as she sat down across from me.

“I was just thinking of something...” I replied as I looked down at my hands.

“Ne, Yurina-chan,” Neru placed her hands on my hands as she moved closer to me. “You can tell me anything that is on your mind. I am here for you.”

I felt my face redden as Neru held my hands in her hands. Her gaze always made my heart beat faster. It was hard to break eye contact once she gave me that gaze.

“I have just been wondering… Have you ever thought about leaving this place? Like running away?” I asked.

Neru let go of my hands as she put her hand under her chin while tilting her head to the side. It was her thinking pose. For some odd reason, I became fond of it. To be honest I became fond of everything that she did.

“Hmm… I wonder about that.” Neru replied mysteriously.

I wanted to ask about what she meant, but a nurse walked up to us. She was the nurse who normally checked up on me throughout the day. My stomach told me that I had to be careful around her.

“Hirate-san, what are you doing?” The nurse asked me.

“I am just talking with my friend here,” I replied as I turned to look at the nurse.

The nurse gave me an odd look. She checked her wristwatch before taking out a pen out of her chest pocket. She began to write something down on the clipboard in her hands.

“Okay. Thank you, Hirate-san. Don’t forget to continue eating properly and drink plenty of water,” the nurse told me before leaving.

I turned around as the nurse turned the corner out of view. My heart raced as I saw where Neru was sitting. Her face was a mere inch away from mine.

My eyes widened as I stared into her eyes. They were staring deeply into mine. I could smell her scent from how close we were from each other. It was a good fragrance. I really loved it.

Not this again. My heart was beating rapidly and there was this feeling that existed. I know what it meant. But I kept on telling myself it was not normal to have these kinds of feelings. Especially towards another girl. But I just couldn’t stop it. These feelings kept on returning whenever I talked with Neru.

I always denied these feelings. It never felt normal to me to be this close to any of my female friends. For them it felt normal, but I always shied away from that kind of skinship. But with Neru, it felt oddly comfortable.

“Pft… Ha ha ha ha,” Neru began to laugh as she backed away from my face. “Yurina-chan you should look at your face. You are as bright as a tomato. I love teasing you.”

“Neru!” I yelled as I pouted.

Neru leaned towards my ears and whispered, “I can also never get enough of that pouting face of yours. It’s cute.”

“Cute?!” My eyes widened with shock. I felt my face getting even redder.

“Oh, it’s time for me to get going. I will see you later,” Neru said as she got up.

“Okay, see you later, Neru,” I replied as I waved at her.

She was the only person who could make me feel this way. But all of it was teasing anyways. There was no way she could feel the same way as me. I let out a sigh as I stood up to return to my room.

---***---

“Yu… rina… Yurina… YURINA-CHAN!” I heard as I was shaken awake.

I sat up on my bed in shock. My eyes adjusted to the darkness of the night. I was surprised to see Neru standing beside my bed.

“Neru? Do you know what time it is?” I asked as I let out a yawn.

“Get up. We are getting out of here,” Neru commanded with a serious tone.

“Eh?” My eyes widen as I heard Neru’s reply.

She grabbed my wrist and started to run out of the room, pulling me with her. Her hand was soft and small. I wanted to feel her touch in my hands. My face flushed red when I realized what I was thinking.

“Now is not the time,” I thought as I shook my head to get rid of the thought.

We ran through the halls. Everything was enveloped by the darkness of the night. The only source of light that I could see was the flashlight that Neru used to guide us through the halls.

There should be nurses on duty, but I could not hear anything. There was always at least one nurse who would be at the nurse’s station, but I saw no one when we ran by it. This situation didn’t make any sense to me.

It was oddly silent. Even for a hospital at night, there should be more signs of life. There was clearly something wrong, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. The whole way from my room to the stairwell was void of life.

Neru turned off her flashlight as we entered the stairwell. Each landing had a red light to illuminate the stairwell. They were flashing and spinning, but I ignored that.

Neru was oddly quiet. I have never seen her like this silent before. It stayed this way as we climbed the staircase. We finally reached the roof after what felt like an eternity of climbing stairs.

Neru let go of my wrist and placed her hand on the doorknob and twisted it. The door opened and she walked out onto the roof of the hospital. I followed along behind her.

The moonlight covered only half of the roof. It was odd considering that the moon was over our heads. We continued walking until Neru reached the moonlit portion of the roof and suddenly stopped, leaving me covered by the shadow of the moon.

“Neru… Is there something wrong? What are we doing up here?” I asked.

Neru turned around. It was the first time that night that I got a clear view of her face. She looked radiant as the moonlight shone on her face.

I could feel my heart skip a beat. My left hand moved up to my chest to calm it down. This isn't a normal reaction. I shouldn't have these kinds of feelings.

“Yurina-chan… I have something important to tell you,” Neru said with a serious expression on her face.

“Hm? What is it Neru?” I replied.

Neru began to walk towards me. Her gaze focused on me. She never once looked away. My eyes couldn't move away as if it was captured by her gaze.

She eventually reached me and stood in front of me. There was a moment of silence between us. I was about to say something, but Neru suddenly hugged me. My body tensed up.

“Yurina-chan,” Neru began to whisper into my ear. “I am not quite sure how to say this… But… I love you, Yurina-chan. The moment I laid my eyes on you, I was captured by you. I knew right away that I had feelings for you. I guess you could call it ‘love at first sight’? Please become my girlfriend.”

My eyes widen in shock as Neru tightened her grip on me. I didn't know what to say. It was beyond abnormal for me to have these feelings. But for her to also have the same feelings? I didn't expect that.

But what should I do? I always told myself that these feelings were not normal. But the feelings are mutual. It's normal to return the same feelings, right?

My body relaxed as I gripped Neru’s shoulder to pull her off of me. I stared directly into her eyes. Her deep eyes were beautiful. They were the eyes of the girl that I loved after all.

“I love you too, Neru,” I say, much to Neru’s surprise.

Neru jumps at me as tears fall from her eyes. I didn't consider her the clingy type, but I return her embrace. We stay like that until I couldn't hear any tears come from her. I hold her shoulders to pull her back so I can get a clear look at her.

My eyes fell towards her lips. They were a reddish colour. I never looked at them like this before. My heart told me that I was captured by them.

Neru seemed to realize what I was looking at and closed her eyes. She was ready to accept my feelings for her. I close my eyes and move closer to her.

Just as our lips touched, I suddenly felt the roof disappearing underneath my feet. I realize what was happening. After all, there was a smile on my face.

“She was never really there.”

Wonderful oneshot... ahhhhhhh, Techiiiiiiii!!! I think Techi works oddly well for a tragic heroine, but... my heart is in pain from reading this. Ah, this was a wonderful oneshot. Fufu, I'll look forward to more of your work in the future. I'm always happy to see more Keyakizaka46 stuff.

This makes me want to read more on how neru became techi's imagination. But yes, i agree too. Techi is so fit for a tragic heroine

@Shinoki: I was originally thinking of having a different pairing with a slighty different plot, but I guess this turned out okay.

@RyoZakiji: Yep Neru was just an illusion.  :)

@Kairi65: Hmmm I never really thought of a backstory for it. The idea just came to my mind.

So here is my next OS. This one is starring MonaRisa. Since my previous OS was tragic, I wanted to write a more happier one. This may end up being multiple parts.
Enjoy!

I Met Her on The Subway - Part 1 [MonaRisa]

My name is Watanabe Risa. I guess you could call me a map enthusiast. Maps are so fascinating.

There are train lines that run all across Japan. I love looking at their maps. There are so many places that I never knew about. I plan to visit all of these places some day in the future.

The only problem is that I don’t like taking the train. I have lived in Tokyo all of my life and have never left the surrounding area. The subway here is always crowded. I find it uncomfortable and annoying to be surrounded by so many strangers.

Even though I say I don’t like taking the train, I must say that I am grateful that I am a map enthusiast. I never would have met her if I didn’t discover this interesting place on one of my maps.

There was one place that I never discovered on any of my maps. I was excited to go explore the area, but I ended up on the wrong train. I didn’t know what to do and decided to sit down in defeat. It would be awhile before we reached the next station.

Then I looked up, and there she was, sitting directly across from me. My heart started beating faster and I knew that I fell in love at first sight. What a beauty she was. She wore a pair of light blue headphones and listened to her music, drowning out the surroundings.

I wanted to know more about her, but I couldn’t approach her. We just sat across from each other the whole way until the next station. One of us unfazed by the world around them, while the other stared at the former. I became obsessed with her, but I thought I would never see her again.

But fate had other plans for me. It just so happened that we both got off at the next train station. She dropped her school ID as we were getting off of the train. I picked it up and got a quick glance at her name.

“So her name is Shida Manaka…” I whispered to myself.

I hurriedly ran up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and asked if I needed anything. I fumbled around a bit before giving her school ID back to her. She was surprised but thanked me for returning her ID back to her. We then parted ways.

Ever since that day, I have made sure to return to this spot on the exact same train at the same time every day. It was the only way I had of seeing her. I found out that she always took the train home at that exact time every day.

She always got on at Shinjuku station, and got off a few stops later at Meguro station. I always made sure to get on earlier at Ikebukuro station to get a seat. She always sat in the same seat when she got on the train.

My obsession with her became stronger every day that I saw her. I hope I wasn’t becoming a strange girl. I drew the line at when she left the train, but I have to admit that I have done some stalker-like things.

There was one time where she was wearing a cute outfit. I feel ashamed, but I couldn’t control myself. I took a picture of her from my seat. My hands moved on their own and I pretended to be taking a picture of myself, so no one would suspect anything.

I kept on trying to delete the picture from my phone, but I couldn’t. My hand would shake uncontrollably every time I tried. It resisted my will to delete the picture. I guess it would be better to say that my hand was following what my heart felt.

Ever since that time, I promised myself I would never do something like that ever again. It honestly felt disgusting. It felt like I was defiling her beauty with that picture. I didn’t want to do anything to make her hate me and my heart agreed with me.

I was content with just being in the mere presence of Manaka. She probably forgot about me after our first encounter, but I was happy with being able to see her. I want to talk with her, but I am just too shy to walk up to her. I have even tried to talk to her a few times, but they all ended with me running away in embarrassment.

Today felt like a different day. I oddly felt confident in myself. It felt like today would be the day that I would talk to her. I felt butterflies in my stomach at the thought of being able to talk to her. I just had to wait for her to get onto the train.

The train arrived at Manaka’s station. We waited there for a few minutes for people to board and I became concerned. She was nowhere to be seen. I let out an internal sigh of relief when I saw her walk onto the train just as the train was about to leave the station.

She sat in her normal seat across from me. She had her signature light blue headphones on and was distracted by her music. She looked beautiful just like any other day. But I suddenly became nervous.

My confidence from earlier vanished. I couldn’t move to try and talk to her. My legs didn’t want to move. I tried forcing them to move, but they were stuck to the floor. Today was supposed to be the day that I talked to her and I felt defeated. I wanted her to notice me for once, but I realized I didn’t have to do much to get her to notice me.

Manaka suddenly looked up and stared me directly in the eye. Her deep brown eyes were mesmerizing. I didn’t even realize that she was looking at me. My heart was drowning in the beauty of her eyes.

I don’t know how long we were sitting like that, but it felt like an eternity. My trance was suddenly broken when she flashed me a big smile. My heart stopped for a moment. My eyes widen in surprise when everything processed in my head. Manaka caught me staring at her.

I quickly averted my eyes away from her. My cheeks felt red like a tomato out of embarrassment. How could I make such a simple mistake? She must be creeped out by me now. Is this how it is all going to end?

I took a chance and took a quick glance at Manaka. She wasn’t looking at me anymore. Her eyes were focused on the piece of paper on her lap. She was writing something with a pen. I must admit that I was curious about it.

Manaka stood up from her seat. She began walking towards me. I didn’t know what to do and started staring at the ground. What is she thinking right now? Is she going to tell me off for staring at her? Oh god no this isn’t happening right now.

She stopped right in front me. I didn’t move my eyes away from the ground. She tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. She was giving me a bright smile when I looked up. A paper appeared in my hand as she gave me a wink. My eyes widen when I opened up the piece of paper. It was a cell phone number.

“Call me.”

So good! My heart was pounding in anticipation alongside Risa's when I read it the first time. Risa was a little bit of a stalker in a cute way, but... nngh, that was a great read. As expected of my oshimen, Manaka.

@Kairi65: I guess this is the reply to your comment. :P

@Shinoki: I was thinking of ways to make Risa's obsession with Manaka a bit interesting, and this seemed to be a good way to do it.

@junchan: That line fits so perfectly with the context of the scene.

@wakasama__: I hope this is able to satisfy you. :)

Hey guys! It's been a while since I wrote something. Been to busy with school to write anything.
So seems that people wanted to see Manaka's POV, so I decided to do Manaka's POV of the first part.
Hope you guys enjoy it!

I Met Her on The Subway - Part 1.5 [MonaRisa]

Music. It is my only salvation in this world. Listening to it always calmed my mind and emotions. I could drown out my surroundings by just putting on my signature light blue headphones and pressing play on my phone.

Commuting on the subway is always noisy. The sound of the train, the people, and the chatter was just too much for me. There were always too many people around. I always felt sick by this environment.

I hated commuting by subway, but I didn’t have any other options. It was the only convenient way of getting around Tokyo for me. Rush hour was the worst of it. The trains were always jampacked with people going to work or going home.

I always avoided taking the subway during those hours. The less people around, the less I felt sick. I always left early in the morning and left later in the afternoon just to avoid the traffic of people.

My afternoon commute home tended to be quieter. There was a seat that I always favoured when I got on the train. I tried my best to sit there any time I got on the train, but sometimes it was taken when I got on.

Today’s afternoon commute was the same as always. I got on the train and my seat was empty, so I sat in it. I placed my headphones over my ears and hit play on my phone. The music began to play and the surroundings were washed away.

My mind was always tranquil during these times. It gave me time to reflect about the day so far. I always took this time to plan out the rest of my day. It was also the perfect time to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Although it wasn’t enough time, as my stop was a few stations away from where I got on the train.

The train arrived at my stop. I stood up and made my way to the exit onto the platform. My school ID fell out of my bag as I was getting off without me noticing it. I walked a few steps before feeling someone tapping on my shoulder.

My heart skipped a beat as I turned around. My eyes found a beautiful girl standing in front of me. She had short brown hair that reached just above her shoulders. Her eyes were a deep brown. It combined with her face to give an allure that prevented me from looking away.

I could not even hear the music that was coming from my headphones. My world suddenly revolved around this girl in front of me. She was looking down at the ground while fumbling with something in her hand.

“Can I help you?” I manage to ask.

She took a few moments before presenting something to me. It was a school ID. My eyes widen in surprise as I looked in my bag. My school ID was missing. I took it from her hands, and read the name on the inside cover to make sure it was mine.

“Shida Manaka…,” I whispered low enough for the girl to not hear me.

It was indeed my school ID. I thanked the girl before she gave me a quick nod and hurriedly left. My eyes were glued to her until I could not see her anymore. My music finally returned to my ears. I knew what I had to do.

“I have to make her mine,” I said with a grin on my face.

The next day I had my headphones on before I got on the train. My surroundings were already drowned out as I looked for my seat. My eyes locked onto the person sitting across from me as I sat down. I was surprised to see that it was the girl from yesterday. I was not expecting to see her again that soon.

My heart beated faster as my music once again vanished from my ears. My world became focused on the girl. The whole train ride was like that. I pretended to not notice her, but I was keeping my eye on her. She kept on giving quick glances at me. It was amusing to see the girl look flustered.

My music returned to my ears as the train arrived at my stop. My emotions calmed and I quickly got off the train before they became erratic again. I had a feeling that it was not a coincidence that I saw the girl again.

My feelings were right as I would see the girl everyday on the train in the same spot for the next month. I learned a lot about her during that time. It was amusing to watch the girl over the period of a month.

She was very timid and did not seem to speak much. It seemed that she was always by herself on the train. She never had company with her. I could tell that she had a good personality based on my observations.

There was one peculiar thing that I found out about her. She had some stalker-like tendencies. Normally I would hate people like her, but I found it cute and amusing as she was the one I wanted to make mine.

One time I decided to dress differently instead of my usually style of fashion. It wasn’t anything special, but it was a cute outfit. I went through my usual routine when I got on the train. The girl was already sitting in her spot across from mine. My focus was already on her as I waited to see her reaction.

I was very surprised to see that she had her phone out. She never had phone out as she was always too busy giving me glances. It looked like she was taking pictures of herself as she was posing with her phone in her stretched-out arm, but I quickly realized what she was actually doing.

She had the phone’s rear camera facing directly at me. I pretended to not notice as she took a few pictures of me. I chuckled inside as she swiped her phone to look at the picture. Her expression looked blissful as she viewed the pictures. It gave a warm feeling in my heart to see her expression like that.

It was after that point that I knew for sure that the girl had feelings for me. I could have made it easier for both of us by going up to her myself, but I didn’t find that enjoyable. I wanted to mess with her for a bit longer.

After that incident with the cute dress, I never saw her using her phone on the train ever again. It seemed that something changed a bit in her, and I felt a bit disappointed. I wanted to see her blissful expression again, but she was probably scared that I would catch her in the act someday.

There were a few times where she walked up to me. I pretended to not notice her, as I looked in a different expression. I could feel that she wanted to say something, but she never did. Every time she just ran off with an embarrassed expression on her face.

I was running late one day and almost missed the train. I got on just in time as the doors closed behind me. I made my way to my seat and the girl was already in her seat across from mine. I had already decided that day that I would change the relationship between us.

She gave me her usual quick glances. I turned my head just as she was about to avert her eyes away from me. Our eyes locked for the first time in a month. It reminded me of the feelings I felt during our first encounter. I had vowed on that day that I would make this girl mine.

I gave her a big smile. Her eyes widen in shock as she realized that we were making eye contact. She quickly averted her eyes away from mine. I giggled as I was amused by the embarrassed expression on her face combined with her bright red cheeks.

An idea popped in my head. I got a piece of paper and a pen out of my bag. Now was the perfect opportunity to make it clear to her that we had mutual feelings and to end this amusing game. I wrote down my cell phone number on the piece of paper.

I put the pen away in my bag and stood up with the piece of paper in my hand. The girl was looking in my direction, but she quickly stared at the ground as I stood up. I walked towards the girl and stopped in front of her.

I could tell that she was panicking as her shoulders raised a bit when she saw my feet stopping in front of her. I waited a few moments before tapping on her shoulder. There was a bright smile on my face as she looked up at me.

I placed the piece of paper in her hand as I gave her a wink. She took a few moments to open the piece of paper and read its contents. Her eyes widen in shock as she realized what it was. I had a big grin on my face.

“Call me.”

@Shinoki: Manaka knows everything. 8)

@Kairi65: Ahhhh the pressure of writing sequels. I hope you enjoy this one. XD

I am back with the continuation of my MonaRisa fic.
I was originally thinking of writing it in Mona's POV, but then I got an idea for the final part, so this will be in Risa's POV.
Enjoy!

I Met Her on The Subway - Part 2 [MonaRisa]

I can’t believe it. This could not actually be happening right now. What sort of magic is this? What if this is all just a dream? I am not dreaming, am I?

I pinched my arm to try and snap out of my dream. It hurt a lot. There was a big red mark where I pinched my arm. It was a confirmation that I was in fact not dreaming.

There were a few fragments of memories in my head of what happened. The last thing I remember was suddenly realizing that I was in my room. I don’t remember when I got off the train or when I arrived at home.

I was lying down on my bed. My body rolled to both sides of the bed repeatedly. My heart was out of control. It was beating erratically as if it was mirroring my current actions. Exhaustion eventually hit me, and I settled down in the middle of my bed.

My eyes wandered to the white ceiling of my room. I reached my right hand out towards the ceiling. It was shaking uncontrollably. I grabbed it with my left hand, but it was also shaking uncontrollably.

It was only then that I remembered I was holding a piece of paper in my right hand. I lowered my hands to a comfortable distance from my face to read the contents of the piece of paper. It was Manaka’s cell phone number.

“Call me,” her voice echoed in my head.

My heart went into another frenzy. This is what I cannot believe. I never once thought that it was possible for her to remember me after the first meeting. Let alone giving me her cell phone number and telling me to call her. I was very shocked, but at the same time ecstatic.

I reached for my cell phone beside me and opened the dialer on it. My hands were shaking as I tapped in Manaka’s number. I pressed the wrong numbers a few times as my shaky hands moved from the correct number. The correct numbers were eventually tapped in.

My finger hovered over the call button. I hesitated as I was thinking of something to say when she picks up. Do I tell her how I have been stalking her for the past month? Should I just introduce myself properly to her?

“Hey there, my name is Watanabe Risa. I have been stalking you for the past month,” I thought to myself.

I shook my head to get rid of the idea. What kind of introduction is that? She will probably get the wrong impression of me, and then she will decide to never talk to me ever again. That was something I had to avoid.

“Hello?” I suddenly heard Manaka’s voice come from my phone.

The sudden sound surprised me. I almost dropped my phone to the ground as I threw my phone up in surprise. The phone landed in the palm of my hand after I fumbled about to get a grip on the phone.

I must have tapped on the call button when I was thinking of something to say. My heart started to beat faster as my head was in chaos trying to think of something to say. The next few words were going to be important.

“Hello?!” I suddenly yell into the phone. I smacked my forehead with my free hand. What kind of reply was that?

There was a moment of silence before Manaka broke the silence, “Ah! Is this the girl from the train?”

“Ummm… I guess it is?” I replied, doubting myself.

I could hear a giggle on the other side, “What do you mean ‘You guess’? But I guess with that kind of reply it means it really is you.”

“Ummm…,” I was lost for words to say.

“What is it?” Manaka asked.

“I-I-I don’t know what to say…,” I replied in a soft voice.

There was laughter coming from Manaka, “I guess you could introduce yourself to me. I don't even know your name. But I guess I should introduce myself first. My name is Shida Manaka, yoroshiku.”

“I already know what your name is… I saw it when I give you your school ID back. My name is Watanabe Risa, yoroshiku onegaishimasu.”

“Ha ha ha. I guess I should have expected as much. ‘Risa’ is a nice name by the way. I like it. Can I call you by your first name? You can call me ‘Manaka’ too.”

I could feel my cheeks redden from Manaka’s reply, “Yeah, that is fine, Manaka-chan.”

“You don’t need to add ‘-chan’. Try saying my name without any honorifics.”

“Ma-Ma-Mana….. ka,” my heart was beating intensely. We were already on first name basis after only a few minutes of interaction.

“I’m happy to hear you call my name, Risa. But I want to get straight to the point. I guess you already understand why I gave you my number, right?”

“No, what for?” I pretended to be ignorant. I knew very well why she gave me her cell phone number, but I wanted to hear the words directly from her mouth.

“What? I thought you knew…,” I could hear a sigh coming from Manaka’s mouth. “I guess we should just forget about all of this…”

My heart was suddenly thrown upside down, “Wait! I know why you gave me your number. Don’t leave!”

Manaka bursted out in laughter, “I knew it! You do know the reason.”

“Mou! I hate you, Manaka!” I pouted even though Manaka couldn’t see me.

“Wait Risa! I was just joking. What I wanted to say is that I love you Risa. Please go out with me,” Manaka suddenly confessed her love to me.

My cheeks became even redder than before, “I love you too…,” I replied with a very soft voice.

“Huh? What did you say?” Manaka asked.

“I said… I love you…,” my voice was still soft.

“I still can’t hear you. Can you say that again?”

“I said I love you!” I yelled. I felt a weight off my shoulder by saying it out loud and clear for Manaka to hear.

There was a moment of silence before Manaka replied, “I am very happy that you told me that right now. To be honest, I heard you the first time, but I wanted to hear you say it again and again.”

“Mou! Stop teasing me!” my voice was filled with annoyance.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t stop. I love to tease you. Your reactions are cute and I love that about you,” Manaka confessed to me.

My heart melted at Manaka’s words. She seems to like teasing me. I honestly don’t like it, but she knows what to say to get at my heart. This was the person that I became obsessed with, and I love every part of her.

“Say Risa…,” Manaka’s voice suddenly went soft.

“What is it?” I asked with curiosity in my voice.

“Let’s go on a date.”

@Shinoki: Manaka is always cool, so I decided to show a different side of her for the finale. :P

So we have finally reached the conclusion of this short MonaRisa fic.
There are some interesting scenes in this finale.  8)
Enjoy!

I Met Her on The Subway - Part 3 (Finale) [MonaRisa]

I am so ecstatic right now. Even though I didn't sleep much last night, I was full of energy. How could I not be? Manaka and I were going to have our first date today.

I was so nervous about what I was going to wearing. Should I go with a pair of jeans? Should I wear a long sleeve shirt? I spent a lot of time deciding on my wardrobe for the day. In the end, I decided upon a skirt and blouse.

“Risa!” I was brought back from my thoughts by someone suddenly calling my name from behind me.

I turned around to see who was calling me. Just like I expected, it was Manaka. She was running towards me.

Manaka was panting heavily when she stopped in front of me, “Am I late? Have you been waiting long?”

“Hello Manaka. No, you're just on time. I just got to the station too,” I replied to Manaka, but the truth was that I have been here for two hours already. I was too excited for this date and just ended up coming here early.

Manaka heaved a sigh of relief, “I am glad. Hey, what do you think of my outfit?”

My eyes shifted down to Manaka’s outfit. It was cute, and I liked it. But there was something familiar about it. Something very familiar about it…

I suddenly heard a click of a camera. Manaka had her phone out and it was pointed directly at me. She gave me a wink when our eyes met.

My eyes opened wide in realization, “Don’t tell me… You knew?”

“That's revenge,” Manaka had a smirk on her face.

I looked at the ground in embarrassment. My cheeks became flushed. I can't believe that she knew what I did. This is so embarrassing. She doesn't hate me, right?

Manaka grabbed my hands. I looked up and was surprised to see her face a few inches from my face. My face went completely red as my heart beated faster. She was staring deeply into my eyes. I could see my reflection in her deep brown orbs.

Manaka leaned in towards my ear. “Don’t worry, I love that part of you too,” she whispered into my ears.

“Wh-wh-what?” I managed to give a response.

Manaka backed away from me, and began to laugh uncontrollably, “Risa, you should see your face right now! It’s hilarious! I honestly can’t get enough of it.”

I pouted at Manaka, “Mou! I hate you Manaka! I’m leaving!”

I then began to walk away from Manaka. I wasn’t actually mad at her, but I wanted to get revenge on her for teasing me. She doesn’t control herself when she teases me. It irritated me because it kept on making me lose control of my emotions, but I can’t complain because it made me fall deeper in love with her.

It seemed that Manaka’s biggest weakness was when I was mad at her. She couldn’t handle having me mad at her. She tried her best to get my forgiveness and make me happy again. This time I wanted to get back at her for teasing me.

“Wait! Risa, come back! I’m sorry!” Manaka ran after me.

I suddenly turned around, stopping Manaka in her tracks. There was an angry expression on my face, “No, Manaka! I’m tired of your teasing! I’ve had enough!” I crossed my arms and turned around.

There was a grin on my face that Manaka couldn’t see. I knew for sure that my reaction would force another reaction out of Manaka. I waited a few moments, but there was no reaction from Manaka. All of a sudden I heard sobbing coming from me.

I turned around to see Manaka crying with her hands covering her face. It surprised me to see her crying from my teasing. My heart sank as it felt guilty for causing this pain towards her just for revenge. It turns out that my weakness was seeing Manaka in such a vulnerable position.

“I’m sorry…” Manaka was the first to break the awkward atmosphere.

I was confused by what she meant, but then it hit me, “You don’t have to be.”

Manaka was surprised when she felt my arm suddenly cradle her body in my embrace. One of my hands was stroking her head, while the other supported her for balance.

“Please don’t cry, Manaka. I hate to see you cry. It just hurts me so much,” I whispered softly.

Manaka removed her hands from her face, “You don’t hate me?” Her eyes were red from crying.

I looked deep into Manaka’s eyes and gave her a smile, “Of course not. How could I ever hate you? You are my obsession and the person that I love the most in this world. I just wanted to get revenge on you. I didn’t mean for you to take me seriously. I’m sorry, so please stop crying.” I wiped away a tear that threatened to fall from Manaka’s eyes.

Manaka wiped the remaining tears from her eyes before burying her face into my shoulder, “I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t tease you so much, but I can’t help it. This is the only way that I know how to show my love towards you.”

I smiled before patting Manaka’s head again. I was happy to know that Manaka only teased me because she loved me. People gave us weird stares at they walked by us. I paid no heed to them as this was a moment between Manaka and me.

We stayed in this position for a few minutes. Manaka was the first to break our embrace. Her normal cheerfulness returned to her face, which made me happy to see.

Manaka reached out her hand to me, “Let’s get going.”

I replied with a nod and reached out to grab Manaka’s outreached hand, “Un. Let’s go.”

We walked away from the station and started walking down the street. The first shop we stopped by was a crepe shop. I bought myself a banana crepe, while Manaka bought herself a strawberry crepe. We found a bench nearby and sat down to eat our crepes.

I noticed that Manaka was staring at my crepe while I was eating it, “Do you want some?”

“If you don’t mind,” Manaka leaned in and took a bite out of my crepe before I could offer it to her.

Manaka gave me a confused stare when she saw me giggling at her reaction, “What are you laughing at?”

“You seem so mature, but you also have this childish side to you. I can’t help but laugh at it,” my giggles became outright laughter.

Manaka uncharacteristically pouted, “I don’t want to that from you, Ms. Stalker.”

“Hey! That was only one time,” I responded defensively.

A grin formed on Manaka’s face, “I was just kidding. Do you want some of my crepe?” Manaka moved her crepe in front of my face.

I instinctively took a bite out of the crepe that was offered to me before I could give a reply. My eyes widen when I tasted the crepe, “It’s delicious!”

Manaka giggled at my reaction, “That’s the reaction I was looking for. I really love it when I get to see your blissful expression.”

I punched Manaka’s shoulder lightly, “Mou… You are such a tease.”

“I can’t help it. After all, I only tease you because I love you,” Manaka replied.

We quickly finished the remainder of our crepes and got up to leave. We began walking down the street. There was nothing planned out for the date today. Manaka just wanted to spend some time with me, and I was happy to do so with her.

“Hey, do you want to go back to my house?” Manaka suddenly asked me.

“I would love to,” I replied with a smile on my face.

We then went back to the subway station to take the subway back to Manaka’s house. The train ride was silent as both us just stared at each other without saying a word. We got off the train and made our way to Manaka’s house. Her house was only a few blocks away from the station.

I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to Manaka’s parents as they were not home at the moment. Manaka led me up to her room. She opened the door and allowed me to enter first. Her room was normal looking. There weren’t many things in it, and it looked like it fit with her cool personality.

Manaka entered the room and closed the door behind her. I suddenly felt her hand grabbing me and pulling me towards her. My body was spun around and I felt the door appear behind me. Manaka slammed one of her hand on the door beside me.

“Eh?!” I let out in surprise.

Manaka had a flirtatious look in her eyes, “I can’t hold back anymore, Risa.”

I knew what Manaka was trying that to say. I tried escaping in the opposite direction of her hand on the door, but her other hand suddenly slammed the other side of the door. I was trapped from escaping her grasp.

My body instinctively flinched. I was not ready for this kind of situation. It was my first time after all.

“Manaka, I’m not ready for this yet,” my voice shrank to a whisper.

A grin appeared on Manaka’s face, “Don’t worry. I will be gentle.”

Manaka remove one of her hands from the door. She moved her free hand under my chin, raising it. Her eyes were telling me that she was eying my lips. I didn’t know what to do and my heart was racing.

Manaka’s lips started moving closer to me. I instinctively close my eyes and waited for her kiss. All of a sudden I felt the softness of Manaka’s lips on my own. We were having our first kiss.

There was a sweet strawberry taste coming from her lips. I was surprised to suddenly feel her tongue forcing her way into my mouth. Her tongue fished around in my mouth looking for my tongue. Our tongues intertwined, and I felt my mind go a bit numb.

I reached my arm around Manaka’s head and pulled her closer for a deeper kiss. Manaka was surprised by my sudden boldness, but she was happy to oblige. She moved her hand to my waist, and guided us away from the door and towards her bed.

Manaka broke our kiss and suddenly pushed me onto her bed. We were both panting heavily for air. I completely forgot that we needed to breathe while we were kissing. I could see the lust in Manaka’s eyes from my position on the bed. Manaka licked her lips before moving towards the bed.

---***---

“MOM!” my daughter, Dani, suddenly interrupted me.

“What is it, Dani?” I asked curiously.

“I’m still 11! This isn’t something to talk about in front of your daughter!” she responded.

Manaka, who I am now married to, entered the room, “Don’t worry honey. We can tell her the rest of the story when she gets a bit older,” she gives Dani a wink.

“Dad! Stop embarrassing me!” Dani yelled with her cheeks flushed.

Manaka gave her a mischievous look, “Or we could just show you the rest of the story right now.”

Manaka walked towards the chair I was sitting in. She leaned forwards and placed her fingers below my chin. I played along and let her tilt my chin upwards to get a better look at my lips. Manaka moved in closer for a kiss.

Dani yelled before our lips could make contact, “DAD! MOM!” She then ran out of the room, embarrassed by us.

“I love teasing you and our daughter,” Manaka began to laugh.

I flicked Manaka on her forehead, “At least she doesn’t have your bad traits.”

Manaka rubbed her forehead with her hand, “Ow! That hurt!”

I give Manaka a light giggle, “I love remembering the story of how we met.”

Manaka gave me a surprise kiss on the lips, “Yeah, me too.”

@Kairi65: To be honest, I was actually concerned about how I was going to end this. I am glad that you liked it in the end. :P Dani only became their daughter because it was revealed that Risa loves her.

@Shinoki: Now that you mention it... That would make for an interesting sequel. XD

@clin-nolan: A bit late for me to say this, but happy new years. :) I am glad that you liked the story. I actually chose this ending because of the title. :P

@ametakarano: I'm happy to hear that you like the stories so far. No one expected that Oda would be their child. :P

A/N: Hello everyone! I am back with a RisaNeru story.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this, so it ended up becoming this.
Thank you to all who read my stories, and I hope you enjoy this one too.

Why Are You Blushing? [RisaNeru]

I let out a yawn. Today was a completely exhausting day. I was at the library with Watanabe Risa studying for our end of semester exams all day. There was no time for me to take a nap at all.

My exam scores were always in the top three of the class. This has been a fact since my first year of middle school. People are surprised when they find out that I don’t study a lot even though I have top class grades.

I was lying down on my bed. My mind was drifting between consciousness and unconsciousness as I decided on what to do. Should I go shower first or just go straight to sleep? I was pulled into a sitting position when my phone suddenly vibrated beside me.

It was a text message from Risa, “Neru, are you awake still?”

I smiled at Risa’s message, “Uhn. Did you need something?”

“No, I was just wondering. Good luck with studying,” a reply came quickly.

“Thanks, you too,” I giggled as I sent my reply.

Risa always sent me messages at night. We first met in first year of middle school and have been friends ever since. People have commented on how odd it is that we are friends with each other. We are complete opposites. Risa has a cool personality that no one can break, while people say I am cheerful and outgoing.

Both of us questioned it as well. Risa and I didn’t really share anything in common. It was a mystery as to how we could be friends for so long, but it didn’t bother us at all. I guess we just stuck to each other and have been this way since our first meeting.

I got up from my bed, tossing my phone aside. I walked over to my closet and grabbed a pair of pajamas and a towel. I exited my room and headed straight to the bathroom.

I entered the bathroom and closed the door behind me, leaving it unlocked. I unzipped my skirt and let it slid to the ground. My blazer was already hung up in my room, which left only my tie and shirt remaining. I loosen the tie around my neck and placed it aside. My shirt rustled as I undid the buttons, which cause it to fall off my body after the final button was undone.

All that remained left was my bra and underwear. I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around my body. My hands reached for the door to the shower and bath area and pulled it open. I entered the area and sat down on a mini stool.

I grabbed the shower head to rinse my hair. I pumped a few squirt of shampoo into my hands and began massaging it into my hair. The shampoo suds slowly dripped into my eyes, blinding me temporarily. My hands blindly reached for the shower head to wash out the shampoo from my eyes.

The sudden sound of the bathroom door opening made me alerted to the presence of an unknown person. My hands instinctively grabbed the first thing that I could reach, which happened to be a bucket ladle. I readied myself to throw the ladle at the unknown person as I opened my eyes.

“Risa! You scare the living daylight out of me!” I screamed when I realized it was Risa in the doorway.

“Ah, sorry about that,” Risa replied in her usual emotionless voice.

I let out a sigh of relief, “Don’t worry about it. What are you doing here?”

“I came to visit you,” Risa replied while closing the bathroom door behind her.

I suddenly realized something, “Wait, how did you get into my house?”

“Don’t worry about that,” Risa replied while locking the bathroom door behind her.

My eyes shifted to the door that Risa just locked. There was something wrong with Risa. She was acting uncharacteristically. I could tell that something was going on.

“Why did you lock the door?” I asked Risa as I placed the ladle in my hand back to its original location.

Risa did not answer my question. She suddenly started walking towards me, stopping right in front of me. She crouched down to make level eye contact with me. I suddenly felt my body being pinned to the ground as Risa lunged at me.

“Risa?!” I was surprised by Risa’s sudden action.

Risa suddenly placed a finger over my lips, “Shhh.”

Her other hand traced the surface of the towel that was covering my body from bottom to top, which sent a jolt through my body. I honestly cannot say that I didn’t find the jolt pleasurable, but I was afraid of what was going to happen next. I was not ready to let Risa have her way with me.

Risa leaned in closer to my right ear, “I have been waiting to do this since second year of middle school,” she whispered softly into my ear.

My eyes widen in surprise as my body suddenly broke free of Risa’s grip. I pushed her off of me and retreated to the wall, standing up. The towel that was covering my body loosened during the comotion, which left my near nude body visible to Risa.

“There’s no way that you mean it in that way…” I whispered under my breath, while my cheeks became blushed.

Risa recovered and locked eye contact with me. Her beautiful brown eyes were staring deeply at me. I could see the lust forming in her eyes.

Risa’s eyes suddenly shifted towards the rest of my body. My eyes followed her gaze and it was only then that I realized that my towel had fallen off my body. I instinctively covered my body with my hands and let out a scream.

My back suddenly felt the wall behind it after Risa closed the gap between us while I was screaming. One of her hands pinned one of my hands to the wall, while her other hand slammed the wall beside my head. Her face was mere inches away from mine.

“Neru, I have something to tell you,” Risa said while maintaining eye contact with me.

I gulped, “What is it?”

Risa continued with a firm voice, “I love you.”

My eyes widen in surprise as my heart went into a frenzy. I didn't mishear what Risa just said, right? I wanted to pinch myself to make sure, but Risa’s proximity to me made it near impossible to do so.

“You’re lying,” I said while rotating my head to the side. I had to confirm what Risa just said.

Risa sighed, “I’m not lying. I really do love you, Neru.”

I was almost satisfied with her response, “Prove it to me then.”

“I will,” a grin appeared on Risa’s face.

Risa moved her hand that was against the wall to underneath my chin. She tilted my head to face her. All of a sudden I felt her lips pressed against mine.

I could taste a sense of sweetness forming on my lips. A sweeter fragrance entered my nose as Risa’s hair brushed my nose. I was stunned by everything that was happening.

Risa is my long time crush. It was probably around the start of second year of middle school that I started developing these feelings for Risa. I always thought that Risa would never look at me the same way I looked at her, and that I would forever remain in an unrequited love.

Tears began to fall from my eyes. I was overcome by my emotions. How could I not be? The one I fell in love with just confessed to me, and we just had our first kiss.

Risa noticed the tears falling from my eyes and separated herself from me, “Neru?! Are you okay? Oh my god, what did I just do to you? You hate me now, don’t you?” Her confident expression was replaced by a guilty expression.

I shook my head while wiping the tears away from my eyes, “No, I don’t hate you. I’m just so happy to hear your words. I love you too, Risa.”

Risa was shocked. Her eyes became teary and she suddenly jumped at me, “Neru!”

Risa pulled me into another kiss. This time it was obvious that she was trying to be gentle. She nibbled my lips gently as her hands moved to reach behind my head. Her hands pulled me in even closer as our kiss deepened, while I accepted everything that she was doing.

Risa suddenly broke away from the kiss and it was obvious that she was out of breath. I was so occupied by her touch that I completely forgot that we needed air. Our eyes met and we looked at each other with lust filled eyes.

Risa went in for what I thought was going to be another kiss, but her new target was my neck. She began to kiss my neck, tracing the length of it with her tongue. She began to become more bold and moved further down my body. I could not contain the pleasure I was feeling and let out a seductive moan.

Risa’s hand suddenly reached into my---

---***---

“Neru… Neru… NERU!” I was suddenly shaken awake by Risa.

My eyes slowly opened to see the scenery of the library in front of me. I stretched while letting out a yawn, completing forgetting about the dream I just had. My cheeks were a slight red colour.

“Ugh. We are supposed to be studying right now. You fell asleep…” Risa paused to look at my face, “Your face is kind of red… Why are you blushing?” Risa asked.

Risa’s words suddenly reminded me of what happened in my dream just now and my face became a crimson red, “Nothing!”

Risa eyed me suspiciously, “Well whatever. The exams are in a few days. You may be smart, but I know that even you need to study a bit. So stop slacking off and get back to work.”

“Hai~” I replied.

Risa was right. Our end of semester exams were in a few days. There was no time to slack off right now. Both of us dove back into the books in front of us, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the dream I just had. I was kind of disappointed that it was all just a dream.

“Risa?” I asked to get Risa’s attention.

Risa’s eyes didn’t leave her book, “What is it?”

“You pervert.”

Really like the last line, haha. Risa surely would wonder why would neru say that.

Just the scene where risa pinned neru to the ground got me thinking: neru was on a stool, won't her head hurt from the fall?

@Kairi65: Risa was already wondering why Neru was blushing in the first place. This just another item to add onto that list. :) Uhhh... Let's just say that Neru has her wild strength.

@Miniju: Risa is completely confused by the sudden accusation.

@clin-nolan: Neru was only able to make her dream come true in her dreams. Now if only she could do it in real life. 8)

@Minami-chan: Ha ha. I am glad that it made you laugh. XD

A/N: Hello everyone! This time I present a TechiNeru short short.
I was busy in the past week so I didn't have time to think of something longer.
It is a change in writing style, so I hope you all still enjoy it.

Hurry Up [TechiNeru]

“Neru, hurry up! We are going to be late,” Hirate Yurina yelled to her girlfriend, Nagahama Neru, from the living room sofa.

“I will be there in a minute!” Neru yelled back from her room.

Yurina was growing impatient. She had already been ready to go for the past half an hour. It was easy for her to get annoyed at her girlfriend as she only had to put on a suit. She was already dressed by the time Neru started getting dressed.

The two of them had a reservation for a restaurant in 20 minutes. It was going to be their first date in a month. Being that Neru was a university student, she didn’t have much time to be with her three-year younger girlfriend.

They only started dating about a year ago. Neru was in her final year of high school, while Yurina was in her final year of middle school. Neru suddenly confessed her feelings to Yurina one day. Yurina was shocked at the confession, but she couldn’t be happier to accept it.

The both of them were childhood friends. They played together every day as kids. However, as Neru started high school, the time they spent together slowly dwindled. They kept in contact, but they didn’t see each other often.

Neru was a popular girl at her school who had many friends. Yurina, on the other hand, always showed an emotionless expression on her face and only had a few friends. It seemed like they both lived in separate worlds. Yurina could feel the rift between them widen even when they did have time for each other.

The fact of the matter was that Yurina had a crush on Neru ever since they were kids. She didn’t know it at the time, but she had fallen madly in love with Neru. It only became evident as the rift between them formed.

Yurina had given up all hope of Neru returning her feelings by the time she entered her final year of middle school. Neru looked like she was always looking somewhere else when they spent time together. It always sent a crippling pain to her heart, but Yurina had accepted the reality as truth.

It was a pleasant surprise when Neru sent Yurina a LINE message out of the blue. The message stated that she wanted to give Yurina something before she graduated from high school. In fact, what she wanted to give Yurina ended up being what the girl had been yearning for a long time; her love.

Yurina was shocked when she heard the confession from her long-time crush. The world around her stopped moving and her heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing, and had to confirm that she wasn’t dreaming. The pain coming from the red mark that was left behind on her arm confirmed that she was awake.

Yurina began to shed tears, breaking what became known as her signature emotionless expression. Neru looked in horror at the response that Yurina gave her, believing that she had made a grave mistake. It was only when Yurina jumped at her to give her a hug that Neru understood what it all meant. The both of them accepted each other’s feelings and were finally each other’s girlfriends.

“Damn that Neru. She makes me wait a whole month to spend time with her and now this? She knows I get lonely without her. Why does she always torture me like this?” Yurina said out loud, showing a rare immature pout.

“I am coming!” Neru yelled as she came out of her room, breaking Yurina’s train of thought.

Yurina stood up from the sofa and turned around, “Finally! Let’s g---”

Yurina froze in her tracks. She didn’t expect to see the older girl wearing a beautiful long red dress. It accentuated Neru’s natural curves, giving her a mature look. Speechless, Yurina couldn’t help but stare at Neru with an uncharacteristically soft expression.

Neru giggled at the expression on her younger girlfriend’s face. It was rare for her to see the soft and gentle expression from the always emotionless girl. The contrasting personalities of Yurina was one of the many reasons that Neru fell in love with her in the first place.

Neru walked up to Yurina and gave her a kiss on the cheek. It broke the speechless girl out of her trance. Her normal emotionless expression returned as she realized what Neru had done. Yurina looked away in annoyance as her cheeks turned red. Neru couldn’t control herself and let out a giggle as she watched her younger girlfriend’s embarrassed actions.

“Let’s go. There will be more for tonight,” Neru suggested with a wink.

@Kairi65: I hope this is able to satisfy your appetite. XD

@Minami-chan: Like people like to say, "Patience is key." :)

A/N: Hello everyone! This time I present the first part of a RisaAoi multi parter.
I came across @yushayoshi's fic on the pairing and thought that it was an interesting pair to write about, so I decided to write this multi parter on them.
Like always, I hope you all enjoy it.

Why Do I Love You? - Part 1 [RisaAoi]

Morning classes were in session in class “2-K46” at Fukyouwaon All-Girls High School. The various girls did their own things while classes were in session. The studious amongst them listened in class, while the carefree among them fooled around in the back of the class. What they all had in common was the appreciation for their release from morning classes, lunch break.

The girls immediately shuffled their desks around when they heard the bell that signaled the start of lunch break. They formed their little groups and ate lunch amongst themselves. Chatter filled the classroom as chopsticks reached into bento boxes.

Harada Aoi ate her lunch peacefully with her longtime friend Koike Minami. They had known each other since the beginning of the first year of middle school. They enjoyed each other’s company even though Aoi’s childish tendencies could be annoying at times.

“Did you watch the latest episode of ‘Pretty Cure’ last night?” Aoi asked, about to stuff her mouth with rice.

Minami placed her bento box down on the table, “You’re still watching that? Aoi, you’re in high school now. That show is for children. You should really grow up a bit.”

Aoi suddenly choked on some rice in response to Minami’s criticism. She quickly grabbed her juice box and emptied it of its contents. She grasped for air as her windpipe was cleared of the obstruction.

Aoi was finally able to speak again, “What’s wrong with that? I like it so who ca---” She was suddenly interrupted by the paper ball that suddenly hit her in the head.

The pair turned to look at the source of the paper ball. Watanabe Risa was sitting with her best friend Shida Manaka. Risa was laughing uncontrollably, while Manaka gave an awkward smile, unsure of what to do.

“Oi, JS! Go buy me a juice!” Risa hissed at Aoi from across the room.

The classroom went silent as Risa’s voice traveled throughout the room. Everyone turned to stare at Risa and Aoi. They were used to seeing the cool girl picking on the childish girl. No one in the class dared to defy Risa. They just watched in pity as Aoi took the bullying.

“Oi! Risa! What do you---” Minami began to yell, but was suddenly pulled back by Aoi.

Aoi shook her head, “It’s fine. I will go buy it.” She then got up to leave.

“Aoi…” Minami’s voice trailed off.

The students in the class got along nicely. Everyone was on good terms with each other. However, it became a completely different story when it came to Risa and Aoi.

The two of them were on very good terms with each other throughout all of middle school. They were even in the same circle of friends outside of school. Their interactions were always brief, but they did not need to say much to get along with each other.

Risa’s behaviour towards Aoi changed at the start of high school, shocking everyone that knew them. It started off as just ignoring her, but it slowly escalated. Going from ordering Aoi around to minor incidents of physical violence. No one, not even Aoi herself, knew what happened to cause Risa’s behaviour change.

“Risa… You’ve changed,” Aoi whispered aloud as she felt her heart tighten.

Aoi reached the vending machines that were located on the floor below her classroom. She pulled out her wallet, fished for some coins, placed them into the machine, and pressed the button for juice. She grabbed the can of juice as it fell to the bottom of the machine. She then turned around and made her way back to the classroom.

Aoi could hear two girls talking outside of the classroom as she was about to turn the corner. It was Sugai Yuuka and Moriya Akane, the class representative and student council president. Aoi stayed hidden as she eavesdropped on their conversation.

“You know, Risa has changed a lot since we started high school,” Akane said.

“Yeah… I feel bad for Aoi. The both of them had a good relationship throughout middle school. I thought there was something going on between them that they did not want to tell us,” Yuuka suggested.

Akane protested, “No way! That’s impossible! The two of them barely talked to each other. I doubt there was anything between them.”

Yuuka shook her head, “Whether or not they had something going on between them or not is not important. We need to do something about Risa. We cannot let her bully Aoi any longer.”

Akane let out a sigh, “I know that already. I have been trying to talk to Risa every day. She just won’t listen. She’s too stubborn and just tells me to mind my own business. I just don't know what to do anymore.”

Yuuka looked at her watch, “Oh. Lunch break is almost over. Let us end it here for today.”

The two girls then walked back into the classroom. Aoi remained behind the corner with a conflicted feeling in her chest. She was happy to hear that her classmates were trying to help, but she also knew that it was pointless. She let out a sigh and returned back to the classroom.

Aoi walked over to Risa and handed her the can of juice. Risa was about to say something, but the bell rang to signal the end of lunch break. Afternoon classes were going to start in a few minutes. The girls had gym class that afternoon, so everyone put away their lunches and made their way to the gymnasium.

Aoi waited for everyone to finish changing before entering the changeroom herself. She wanted to avoid as many confrontations with Risa as possible. She changed into her gym uniform in peace and made her way to the gymnasium.

The class began with basic stretches. Aoi paired up with Minami and they moved to a different area of the gymnasium to perform their stretches. Aoi could feel Risa glancing at her the whole time that she was stretching.

The gym teacher blew her whistle to call everyone to the centre of the gym. She announced that the class was going to play dodgeball and then she began to split the class into two teams. By some stroke of luck, Risa and Aoi were on opposite teams.

The two teams moved towards their respective sides of the gymnasium and the game began. Aoi’s team was no match for the strength of Risa’s team, but they were able to put up a good fight. In the end, only Risa and Aoi remained on the field.

The whole class remained silent as they watched the match in anticipation. Minami was especially concerned about her friend’s opponent. Manaka was also concerned for Aoi’s wellbeing as she knew that Risa was not going to hold back against the girl.

Aoi remained completely concentrated on Risa. She was fully aware of the difference in their strengths. She wanted to let herself be knocked out of the game, but her team depended on her to win the match for them. She also knew that Risa would not let it end that easily. The match entered into a stalemate where neither girl moved from where they were standing.

The clouds that were currently blocking the sun began to move. The sun’s rays did not currently shine into the gymnasium. As the corner of the sun became visible from behind the moving clouds, a ray of light shone into the gymnasium. The light reflected off of the glass backboard of the basketball net and shone directly into Aoi’s eyes, blinding her.

The next thing Aoi felt was a dodgeball hitting her directly in the side of the head. Risa took advantage of the situation and threw the ball with all of her might. Aoi fell to the ground as her vision started to darken.

“Aoi!” Minami was the first to react to the incident.

The teacher and class all ran towards Aoi who was lying unmoving on the gymnasium floor. Aoi could see flickers of people’s faces, but she could not hear their concerned voices. She got a glimpse at Risa who did not react at all to the situation, but, instead, Risa stood still with a shocked expression on her face. Aoi only had one thought as she lost consciousness.

“Why do I love you?”

@Shinoki: Risa-sama can be so cruel sometimes. :( We will find out why Risa-sama is acting like this later. :) Hopefully YuukaNen can help them out. 8)

@Miniju: Why is Risa so awful with Aoi? :( We won't find out in this part, but we will soon. :)

A/N: Hello everyone! This is the second part of the RisaAoi multi parter.
I hope you all enjoy this one as well.

Why Do I Love You? - Part 2 [RisaAoi]

Aoi was lying down on Risa’s bed. She was invited over to the cool girl’s house to hang out and relax. Risa was currently sitting at her desk working on her homework, which left Aoi by herself. Aoi was bored out of her mind.

“Ne, Risa?” Aoi inquired as she sat up on the edge of the bed.

Risa did not look away from her homework as she replied, “What is it?”

Aoi stood up and walked over to Risa, “Do you need help with your homework? I have already done mine.” Aoi asked as she leaned in closer to look at Risa’s homework.

Aoi did not notice the blush that appeared on Risa’s face. Risa became conscious of how close their faces were to each other. She could not help but stare at the side of the shorter girl’s face, mesmerized by it.

Aoi pointed at the question that Risa was working on, “You’re doing this one wrong. The answer is supposed---”

Risa snapped out of her trance and interrupted Aoi, “It’s fine! I don’t need your help.”

Risa hated losing to Aoi. She did not know why, but she always had the feeling of wanting to be better than Aoi. It was her motivation to perform her best at anything that involved the both of them. Doing homework was not an exception to this competitive spirit.

Aoi sighed, “Risa, I came here to hang out with you. If you’re just going to do your homework, that’s fine. But if you won’t let me help you, then I might as well go home.” She started walking towards the door.

Aoi was completely unaware of the reason that Risa invited her over. Risa and Aoi always spent time together with their mutual circle of friends. They never had any time to be alone together. There were no events planned with their friends today, so Risa took the opportunity of inviting Aoi over to her house. She wanted to spend time alone with Aoi even though there was nothing going on between them.

Risa stood up and grabbed Aoi’s hand, “Wait a minute, Aoi.”

Aoi turned around, “What is it?” She asked with a look of annoyance on her face.

Risa was hurt by the expression on Aoi’s face. Although she knew it was her fault that things ended up this way. Her neutral expression masked her true feelings. She wanted Aoi to stay with her for as long as possible. She swallowed her pride and began to speak.

“Don’t go,” Risa muttered.

Aoi was confused by Risa’s reply, “What do you mean? If we aren’t going to do anything together, then I’m going home.”

“Can you stay and help me with my homework?” Risa asked with her eyes looking away from Aoi and a noticeable blush appearing on her face.

Aoi was surprised by Risa’s question. She felt her heart pump faster as she tried to remain calm. Her excitement raised as she felt the urge to jump up and down in joy. She held her child-like instincts back, while a large smile formed on her face.

“Of course I will stay. I would love to help you with your homework,” Aoi replied, while holding Risa’s hands in her own, squeezing them lightly.

---***---

Aoi opened her eyes to find the view of the infirmary ceiling filling her vision. The gentle breeze that blew in from the open window disturbed the cloth curtain that surrounded the area around the bed that Aoi was lying on. The cooling effect of the breeze rushed past Aoi’s face, cooling it. It was only then that Aoi felt the cold stream of tears that fell from her eyes.

Aoi wiped away the tears that fell from her eyes, “So it was just a dream? No, I can't say that. That wasn't a dream. It really did happen in the past. All before Risa changed…” She thought aloud.

Aoi was only able to sit up on the bed before the cloth curtain was violently pulled aside. Minami appeared with a panicked expression on her face. The girl looked as if someone had woken her up from a peaceful nap. She made eye contact with Aoi before realizing that the other girl was awake.

“Aoi! I was so worried about you!” Minami yelled as she jumped at Aoi, forcing her into a strong hug.

Aoi began tapping Minami’s shoulder, “Minami! Minami! Air! Air! I need air!” She yelled as she almost fell unconscious due to lack of oxygen.

Minami let go of Aoi, “Ah! Aoi, I’m so sorry! I’m just so glad to see that you are alright!”

Aoi took in a deep breath of air before speaking, “I’m fine. Just a little bump on the head.” She was trying to hide the slight headache that she was feeling from Minami.

Minami leaned in closer to Aoi’s face, “Wait a minute. Aren't your eyes a little bit red and puffy? Don’t tell me you were crying...”

Aoi did not know how to reply to Minami’s accusation. The girl was right in that Aoi was crying, but Aoi could not tell her the reason for her tears. That her heart was feeling the pain of Risa’s constant rejection.

Minami took Aoi’s silence as confirmation of her accusation, “I know the reason why you’re crying. It’s because of Risa isn't it?”

“Huh?” Aoi was surprised by Minami’s accurate prediction.

Minami’s raised her voice slightly, “I’m right aren’t I? That girl. Who does she think she is? You guys were on friendly terms in middle school. Then all of a sudden she starts ignoring you on the first day of high school? Fine with me. She doesn’t have to talk with you if she doesn’t want to, but what pisses me off is what she has done after that. Treating you like trash, ordering you around, and now this? She better hope I don’t get my hands on her.”

Aoi was not surprised by Minami’s outburst. Even though Minami always gave harsh criticism towards Aoi, it was clear that Minami cared deeply for the girl. She always saw Aoi as a little sister. Acting the role of the older sister, she always protected Aoi from bullies. She wanted to do something about Risa, but Aoi always stopped her from doing anything.

Aoi heaved an internal sigh of relief. She was glad that Minami did not realize what the true reason for her tears were. It was better to keep her feelings locked up inside of her. Minami would surely not approve of her being with Risa.

Minami checked the time on her wristwatch, “Oh I have to get back to class. The teacher is going to scold me for being away from the class for too long. Don’t worry, the teacher already knows about what happened. Just take your time resting here.”

Aoi nodded her head, “Okay, thanks, Minami.”

Minami waved her hand at Aoi as she began walking towards the infirmary door. She pulled the sliding door open and stepped into the hallway. She was about to close the door, but her whole body suddenly froze in place when she looked down the hallway. Aoi noticed Minami’s reaction to whatever she saw.

“What is it, Minami?” Aoi asked.

Minami replied with a confused look on her face, “I could’ve sworn I just saw Risa walking away down the hallway.”

“That’s impossible isn’t it?” Aoi whispered with conflicting feelings in her heart.

What both girls did not know was that Risa was standing outside the infirmary moments prior. Risa was looking at the small pink pouch in her left hand. She was about to pull the door open with her right hand when her hand froze upon hearing Minami’s voice. She heard their whole conversation. She clicked her tongue out of frustration as the conversation ended. It was then that she began walking down the hallway as Minami left the infirmary.

Aoi finally had time to herself when Minami left her. The school nurse was off today, so the infirmary was completely silent save for the breeze that was still blowing into the room. Aoi lied back down on the bed as the earlier headache was increasing in intensity. The relaxing state that she was currently in alleviated some of the pounding in her head, making the situation bearable.

Minami was right about Risa, and Aoi knew that as fact. Risa was not the same Risa that she once knew. She had changed so much since their middle school days.

“What should I do?” Aoi asked herself as a stream of tears started falling down the side of her face.

Their friends did not know that Risa acted motherly towards Aoi during middle school. She was even more protective of Aoi than Minami was. Even with her competitive spirit, she was always there to comfort Aoi when the girl was feeling down.

Aoi missed the gentleness of Risa. She yearned to feel the caring touch of the girl again. She missed the times when she could go to Risa to talk about her own problems. She was fond of the times when Risa would embrace her to comfort her as Risa listened to her problems.

Aoi was well aware that those days were long gone. She wanted to know why those days vanished, the reason that Risa changed, and if it was her fault that Risa changed. It was the same question that Aoi kept on asking herself for the past two years.

The pain of being constantly rejected was weighing down on Aoi. She had been feeling this pain for the past two years. She denied the feeling and locked it up deep within her mind, but it was finally surfacing. All of the accumulated feelings reached her heart all at once, fracturing it.

Aoi had been lying to herself for the past two years. Every time that Risa bullied her, she always told herself that the old Risa was still somewhere in the girl. She had convinced herself that Risa would one day return to the old Risa that she knew. She never fought back against Risa, hoping that she could someday pull the old Risa back to her.

This latest incident was the final straw. The physical pain that Aoi felt was miniscule compared to the emotional damage that was caused. She could no longer convince herself that the old Risa still existed. The incident proved to her that she was following a foolish dream for the past two years.

“Why did I believe in you?” Aoi asked herself as the stream of tears became a river as she began to sob uncontrollably.

Aoi clenched her chest as she felt her heart crumble. She thought she was foolish to have believed in someone who seemed to hate her. She felt stupid for falling in love with Risa. Her heart slowly became hollow as she let out all of her frustrations and regrets, leaving behind only a slither of her former feelings for Risa.

Aoi was faced with a difficult decision. She could not handle the situation anymore. The remainder of her remnant feelings told her she could not give up, but that thought disappeared as her heart became completely void of her former feelings for Risa. Her now hollow heart told her what she had to do.

Aoi cried herself to sleep as she came to her decision, “I give up on you, Risa.”

@Minami-chan: I am glad you like the story. To be honest, this isn't a pair I would usually ship. But this idea popped up in my head after reading the other RisaAoi fic, so I decided to write it. :)

A/N: Hello everyone! This is the third part of the RisaAoi multi parter.
It ended up being longer than I originally intended, but that's what happens when you write whatever comes to mind. :P
There will be one more part after this one.
Enjoy!

Why Do I Love You? - Part 3 [RisaAoi]

Aoi woke up the next morning tucked in her bed in her own bedroom. The sunlight was creeping in from the slightly parted curtains, and it was shining directly at Aoi’s eyes. Aoi groaned as she got herself out of bed. She remembered how she got home yesterday.

---***---

Minami woke up Aoi at the end of the school day, yesterday. She came to collect the girl to make sure that she would get home safely. There was a small pink pouch left on the table beside the bed that Aoi was sleeping in. There was no note left behind by the sender, but it was obvious that the pouch was meant for Aoi.

Aoi collected the small pink pouch and her own belongings from the classroom before leaving the school grounds with Minami. Minami did not notice that the girl had been crying earlier as they walked home together. Aoi did not show any signs of change either as she was still being childish in front of Minami. This behaviour left Minami with a sense of relief. Minami believed that Aoi was recovering rapidly.

Once they reached Aoi’s house, both girls entered the house. Aoi was forced to go rest in her room by Minami. Aoi’s mom came out from the living room to greet Aoi and was surprised to see that Minami had visited the house. Minami sat down with Aoi’s mom and explained what had happened in the incident earlier in the day.

Minami assured Aoi’s mom that Aoi was fine and that she was recovering rapidly. She promised that she would deal with Risa and that she would protect Aoi from Risa. Minami ended the conversation with her promise as she had to go home herself.

---***---

Aoi tried to clear the tiredness from her eyes as she walked over to her desk. Even though she had plenty of sleep, Aoi’s face looked like a complete mess. She had a heavy feeling in her chest. The pounding in Aoi’s head also did not help with the heavy feeling.

The small pink pouch was sitting on top of Aoi’s desk. It was left in the exact condition that Aoi found it in. Aoi grabbed the pouch, opened it, and reached her hand inside of it. She pulled out a small box of medicine. Aoi examined the box. The wording on the box stated that its contents were for headaches.

The pounding in Aoi’s head suddenly intensified. Aoi threw the box of medicine on to her desk so she could clutch her head with both of her hands, knocking over the pouch that was sitting on the desk. A small folded square piece of paper fell out of the pouch. The piece of paper flew off of the desk and landed under Aoi’s bed, just out of normal reach. Aoi did not notice the paper disappearing under her bed as she was in pain from her headache.

Minutes passed before the pounding in Aoi’s head subsided. Aoi looked at the box of medicine, but she decided to not drink them. She was cautious of a stranger giving her medicine. She picked up the pouch again and reached her hand inside of it. Her hands found nothing as the remaining contents of the pouch had fallen underneath Aoi’s bed earlier.

Aoi placed the pouch back down on her desk and walked over to her closet to grab her uniform. She crossed in front of her standing mirror and stopped in front of it. A photo that was taped to the frame of the mirror caught Aoi’s attention. Aoi walked over to the mirror to look at the photo. It was a purikura that she had taken with Risa in their final year of middle school.

---***---

“Ne, ne, ne, Risa let’s go over there,” Aoi pointed at the purikura booth as she pulled on Risa’s arm.

Risa and Aoi were on an outing alone together. It was the middle of summer vacation, so their friends were busy doing their summer homework. Aoi finished her summer homework at the beginning of the summer vacation and helped Risa with her own homework. This left only the two of them available for an outing.

Risa had called Aoi the day prior to arrange the outing. Aoi was excited to receive the invitation from Risa. The both of them had the same feelings as they looked forward to the outing. They both knew that it would only be the two of them.

“Fine,” Risa groaned aloud, but in reality, she had already planned to take a purikura with Aoi the night prior.

Aoi skipped the whole way to the purikura booth. Risa was following behind Aoi, observing the girl. She smiled as she watched Aoi skipping along and enjoying herself. Risa’s heart suddenly fluttered, shocking her.

“No, no, no. This doesn’t mean anything. These feelings are normal,” Risa thought to herself as she shook her head to get rid of the thought.

“We are here!” Aoi suddenly yelled, breaking Risa out of her train of thought.

The two girls walked into the purikura booth. They both sat on the lone stool in the booth. Aoi started playing around with the display. She selected different effects and colours to decorate the purikura they were about to take. Risa smiled as she watched Aoi childishly enjoy herself while playing with the display.

“Okay, I’m done. Risa say ‘cheese’,” Aoi said as she wrapped her arms around Risa’s body.

The camera on the display suddenly flashed. The finished product displayed on the screen. Aoi was smiling while Risa had her signature poker face expression. Anyone who looked at the photo would think that Risa did not enjoy taking the picture, but she was actually ecstatic about taking the picture, but she did not want Aoi to know about her feelings.

“This picture could be better, but I guess it is fine,” Aoi said as she pressed the print button on the display.

The two girls walked out of the booth. Aoi grabbed the two photos from the slot on the outside of the booth. She examined both photos before smiling widely. Risa was happy that Aoi looked like she was happy with the photos.

“Make sure you hold onto this forever,” Aoi said as she gave the other copy of the purikura to Risa.

“Yeah, yeah. I won’t lose it,” Risa replied in her usual cold tone as she took the photo from Aoi’s hands. She was happy that she finally had a picture of the both of them alone together.

---***---

Aoi did not feel a sense of joy as she remembered the time that she took the purikura with Risa. Her heart felt empty as the memories played in her head. Aoi pulled the photo off of the mirror frame and tossed it aside. The photo landed in the garbage bin beside Aoi’s desk.

Aoi finally grabbed her uniform from her closet and put it on. She walked over to the washroom to finish her morning routine before making her way downstairs. Her mother was preparing her bento in the kitchen. Aoi walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table.

Aoi’s mother greeted Aoi when she heard her sitting down at the table. Aoi put on her normal cheerful expression, but her mother could see through the façade. Her mother did not want to pry into her daughter’s problems in the morning, so she continued preparing the bento as if nothing had happened. She made small talk with Aoi to see if her daughter was willing to tell her anything at that moment, but all she got in return were short replies, which were different from her usual cheerful replies.

Aoi’s mother finished preparing the bento and was able to make some breakfast for Aoi as well. She placed both items on the table in front of Aoi. The girl ate the breakfast in silence, placed her dishes in the sink, grabbed the bento on the table, and walked out of the house after bidding her mother farewell. Aoi’s mother sighed as it was clear that something was wrong with Aoi.

Aoi’s walk to school was rather peaceful. The pounding in her head subsided greatly which made the walk bearable. Her expression was rough as the heavy feeling in her heart did not subside. She eventually reached the school after making her way through numerous streets.

Morning classes passed by rather quickly. Aoi felt the pounding in her head suddenly spike throughout morning classes, but she was able to mask her expression from showing any pain. She could not be any happier once she heard the bell ring to signal the start of lunch break.

The class let out a collective sigh of relief and began to rearrange their desks around. Aoi moved her desk towards Minami like she usually did. She sat down and pulled out her bento box. The two girls began to eat lunch.

“Minami~ I missed the latest episode of ‘Pretty Cure’ last night,” Aoi whined in her usual childish manner.

Minami sighed, “You should really stop watching that show. I’m starting to get worried about your future.”

The two girls continued to chat while eating their bentos. Aoi acted like her usual self and was showing her cheerful expression to Minami. Everything looked normal to Minami at first, but she slowly began to notice a slight change as Aoi continued to talk. Aoi was being her usual cheerful self, but her actions felt void of emotion. It felt like Aoi was replaced by a robot.

“Hey Aoi are you---” Minami began to ask, but she was suddenly interrupted by the appearance of Risa.

Risa walked up to the pair and began to speak, “Aoi, did you get my no---” She was interrupted by Minami suddenly standing up.

“Oi Risa! How dare---” Minami began to yell, but she too was suddenly interrupted.

Aoi turned around to face Risa. There was an angry expression on her face as she responded in an uncharacteristically aggressive tone of voice, “What do you want, Risa?”

The rest of the classroom went silent as Aoi’s response to Risa echoed throughout the room. Everyone was surprised to hear Aoi speaking in an aggressive manner. They were so shocked by Aoi that they failed to notice how Risa addressed Aoi by her name instead of an insult. No one knew what to do in response to Aoi’s sudden change in character.

Risa and Minami were speechless as they both stared at Aoi. Risa stared directly into Aoi’s eyes as they stared back at her. Aoi’s eyes reflected the emptiness of her heart. It was as if her heart was a flame that was about to be extinguished. Risa could not see any emotions behind those eyes except for a tiny hint of feeling betrayed.

Risa was shocked at the response that Aoi gave her. She knew that it was her fault that things ended up this way. She knew that she was in the wrong, but it still hurt to get the cold shoulder from Aoi. What hurt the most for Risa was that it felt as if Aoi became a completely different person.

Risa’s plan yesterday was ruined when she heard the conversation between Minami and Aoi in the infirmary. She got frustrated and decided to come back a few hours later. She placed the pouch on the bedside table when Aoi was sleeping and no one was around to see her. She thought for sure that Aoi read the note that she left in the pouch. None of what was currently happening was part of Risa’s plan.

Risa clutched her hands firmly close out of frustration, “Never mind, it’s nothing.” She then began to walk toward the exit of the classroom.

Aoi turned around once she saw Risa leaving the classroom. The rest of the classroom returned to their lunches when it looked like the confrontation was over. The pounding in Aoi’s head returned with vigor. She clutched the side of her head with her hands as the pain became too much for her to handle. Her expression showed clear signs that she was in pain.

“Aoi, are you okay?” Minami asked in a worried tone.

“Un. I’m fine,” Aoi replied in a half aggressive and half cheerful tone of voice.

Yuuka and Akane both witnessed the confrontation between Risa and Aoi. They both looked at each before nodding at each other. They both instinctively knew what the other wanted to say. Akane stood up and began to walk towards the exit of the classroom, while Yuuka stood up and approached Aoi.

Manaka watched as her best friend walked out of the classroom. She was worried for her friend who was acting unusual ever since yesterday. She stood up to go after Risa, but she suddenly felt someone put their hand on her shoulder. Manaka turned her head to find Akane staring in the direction that Risa left.

“Don’t worry, I will go after her,” Akane said as she removed her hand from Manaka’s shoulder and began to walk out of the classroom.

Minami’s expression was slowly become more worried as Aoi’s headache was not subsiding, “Aoi, I think you should seriously go to the clinic.”

Aoi shook her head as her expression continued to show that she was greatly in pain, “I told you, I’m fine.”

“No, Aoi you sh---” Minami began to insist, but she was interrupted by Yuuka walking up to them.

“Aoi-chan, can I talk to you in private for a moment?” Yuuka asked with a sweet smile on her face.

---***---

Akane looked both left and right as she entered the hallway. Risa was nowhere to be seen. There were no traces of where she could have gone. Akane decided to go right and started running in that direction.

Akane searched the whole floor before heading down one floor after being unable to find Risa. She searched the new floor but was still unable to find the girl. Akane was a faster runner than Risa, but she did not know where the girl went. She stopped in front of the windows and looked outside.

“Where did that girl go?” Akane sighed.

Akane got a glimpse of a girl running towards the back of the school just as she was about to leave. She could not see the girl’s face, but she was certain that it was Risa. Akane ran down the stairs and headed towards the back of the school. There, she was finally able to find Risa.

Akane approached Risa who was facing away from her, “Hey Risa, are you okay?”

“Leave me alone, Akane,” Risa said in a weak voice.

“Risa, I know you think I’m being stubborn, but I am here for you,” Akane softly spoke.

Risa’s shoulders slightly shook, “You don't get it, Akane.”

“Risa, I won’t be able to understand what is happening if you don't tell me,” Akane replied as she took a step closer to Risa

“Just leave!” Risa yelled as she turned around with tears in her eyes.

Akane was shocked to see Risa with tears in her eyes, “Risa?!”

Risa fell to her knees as she covered her eyes with her hands, “It's too late already.”

Akane walked over to Risa, squatted down, and patted Risa’s back, “What do you mean?”

“What have I been doing these past two years? I’m so stupid. Why am I so stupid? It took me this long to realize it,” Risa explained as she started crying.

“Is this about Aoi?” Akane asked.

Risa nodded her head, “I gave her a note to explain everything, but it's already too late. You saw what happened,” She clenched her chest as her heart screamed out in pain, “I know I deserve this, but it hurts. It hurts so much even though I thought it wouldn’t hurt. Why, Akane? Why does it hurt so much to hear Aoi speak like that?”

“Risa…” Akane’s voice trailed off.

---***---

Aoi followed behind Yuuka as they left the classroom. Yuuka led Aoi through the hallway and to the stairs. They walked up the whole entire flight of stairs until they reached the roof of the school. The door was unlocked and the two of them walked onto the roof. Yuuka took a seat on a bench that was nearby followed by Aoi who sat next to Yuuka.

“Aoi-chan, how are you feeling? That hit yesterday must have hurt,” Yuuka asked Aoi.

Aoi shrugged, her cheerful expression and voice returned as the pounding in her head subsided, “I’m doing fine. It didn’t really hurt that much.”

Yuuka smiled at Aoi, “That’s good to hear.”

“So Yuuka, what did you want to talk to me about?” Aoi asked with a curious tone.

“Can you tell me what happened between you and Risa?” Yuuka blatantly asked.

Aoi’s cheerful expression was replaced by an emotionless expression, “Who cares about her?”

Yuuka was surprised, “What?”

“I said who cares about her?” Aoi repeated herself. “I could hardly care about Risa.”

Yuuka was still shocked by Aoi’s response, “But both you and Risa were so close during middle school.”

Aoi scoffed at Yuuka statement, “That was the past. We aren’t close anymore. If Risa wants to ignore me then that fine. I am not going to waste my time with someone who doesn’t care about me any longer.”

Yuuka noticed that Aoi’s words were filled with a feeling of emptiness, “You cannot tell me that you are over Risa. I know you, Aoi-chan. I could tell that there was something going on between you and Risa.”

“Yuuka!” Aoi began to yell, but she calmed down herself before continuing. “The Risa and me that you knew in the past are no more. I have realized that I’ve wasted the past two years on a pointless dream. I don’t need or want Risa anymore. Heck, I could care less if I ever see her again.”

“Aoi…” Yuuka’s voice trailed off.

---***---

The end of the day quickly came about. After both discussions took place, Yuuka, and Aoi returned to the classroom just as the lunch break finished. Akane returned to the classroom a few minutes after the bell rang. She came into the classroom by herself as Risa was nowhere to be seen.

Akane shook her head when Yuuka made eye contact with her. Yuuka also had a grim expression on her face. Both girls knew what the other was trying to say. The situation was far worse than they had originally thought.

Aoi still could not focus during afternoon classes. Excluding the periodic spike in her headaches, she could not get the earlier confrontation with Risa out of her mind. It was eating at her even though it was what she said she wanted. She could not tell what her thoughts were trying to tell her.

“Aoi? Class has already ended you know,” Minami said as she walked up to Aoi’s desk.

Aoi broke out of her trance. She looked around her and saw that everyone was getting ready to leave for the day, but she was still in her seat with her books out on her desk, “Ah, you’re right.”

“I want to walk you home today, but I have club activities to attend to today. Gomenne, Aoi,” Minami said as she clapped her hands in front of her face while bowing down slightly.

Aoi put on a cheerful smile, “You don’t have to worry, Minami. I’m fine now.”

“Are you sure?” Minami asked with a worried expression on her face.

“Minami, don’t worry about me. I’m fine, trust me,” Aoi replied while maintaining a gentle expression on her face.

“Okay, if you say so. Go home right away and send me a LINE whenever you get home,” Minami demanded before leaving.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Aoi replied as she put her books into her bag.

Aoi walked through the school gates and began her trip home. Her mind was blank while she was walking down the street. Her thoughts were everywhere as her heart was in a state of duress. She was walking aimlessly around.

Aoi suddenly felt a presence behind her and turned around to face it, “Who's there?!” She did not see anyone behind her and continued walking down the street, “Must have been just my imagination.”

A figure appeared out of the shadow from where Aoi was looking at, “That was close.”

The thoughts of the earlier confrontation with Risa returned to Aoi’s mind. She was feeling conflicted about the whole situation. Her heart was telling her that she did the right thing, but there was a slither in her heart that said it was not right. Aoi tried to get the feeling out of her chest, but it was persistent and wanted to stay.

“Why do these thoughts keep coming back? I don’t care about her anymore,” Aoi asked herself.

The return of Aoi’s thoughts about Risa brought on a new onset of pounding in her head. Her headaches were more intense than before. She had to stop on the side of the sidewalk to let the headaches subside. They only subsided slightly before Aoi continued walking even though it was causing her to be unable to comprehend her surroundings.

Aoi was brought to the downtown core of the city by her feet. There was traffic of people and cars everywhere as business men and women were making their way home for the day. The traffic lights rapidly cycled as people and car progressed through the afternoon traffic. Aoi felt lost in this sea of people.

Aoi stopped at the edge of an intersection to wait for the pedestrian light to turn green. Her headaches had substantially decreases as her mind shifted away from the thoughts about Risa and focused on the pain of her headaches instead. Her mind was still foggy even though the pain had substantially decreased. However, she was finally able to comprehend her surroundings.

Aoi suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head as she was waiting at the intersection. It was an excruciating pain that caused Aoi’s mind to fall unconscious. Aoi’s legs suddenly moved forward into the intersection as her mind lost all sense of her surroundings. Aoi’s regained consciousness as she heard the people around her suddenly yelling.

The sound of a car horn entered Aoi’s ear as she turned to see a car driving right at her.

Why Do I Love You? - Part 4 (Finale) [RisaAoi]

“Risa?!” Aoi exclaimed completely dumbfounded.

Risa pulled Aoi out of the way of the oncoming car just before it hit the girl. She was holding the girl in her embrace as they stood safely on the sidewalk. The surrounding people heaved a sigh of relief that Aoi was not hit by the car. Everyone continued on with their business as the pair stood motionless.

Aoi’s heart was beating rapidly as her feelings and thoughts were all over the place. She was not sure if she should be happy or mad to see Risa. Aoi felt Risa’s body warmth transfer to her own body as she drowned in the comfort of Risa’s embrace. The pounding in her head was replaced by the feeling of nostalgia towards Risa’s warmth. She completely forgot that she had already rejected Risa in her heart.

The small flame in Aoi’s heart grew larger as she stayed in Risa’s embrace. The flame grew large enough to push back the emptiness in Aoi’s heart. A war raged in her heart as the flame fought with the void that was trying to contain it. In the end, the flame was dimmed by the emptiness that encroached on Aoi’s heart.

Aoi pulled herself out of Risa’s embrace, “What are you doing here, Risa?” She asked with an aggressive voice.

Risa was taken aback by Aoi’s rejection. She stared into the other girl’s eyes that glared back at her with hostility. Aoi’s eyes did not reflect the same emptiness that Risa saw earlier in the day. It was replaced by the emotion of confusion and frustration, the feeling of being lost behind conflicting emotions in the heart.

Risa held back tears as a sharp pain ran through her heart. She had cried her heart out earlier to release the pain that she was feeling. She thought that she was ready for any harsh words that came from Aoi, but she was completely wrong. No matter how much she prepared herself, Risa felt hurt when the words of rejection were coming from Aoi’s mouth.

“Aoi…” Risa’s voice trailed off as she clenched her hands into fists. She did not know how to reply to Aoi’s question. To be exact, Risa did not want to tell Aoi the truth. She was afraid that Aoi would lash out at her. All she wanted at that moment was to hide from Aoi, so she turned around and began to run down the street.

Aoi stood speechless as she watched Risa’s back disappear into the crowd of people. It only hit her at that moment that Risa was the one who saved her from being hit by a car. If it was not for Risa, Aoi would be in the hospital or even worse, dead.

“What am I doing?” Aoi muttered under her breath with discontent towards herself.

---***---

Aoi had decided to take the rest of the week off from school, which only happened to be Friday, due to the car accident she was almost in. The classroom was as rowdy as ever when Aoi walked into the classroom the following Monday. She walked over to her seat and sat down as someone slammed the classroom door open. Minami was standing in the doorway looking for Aoi.

Minami rushed over to Aoi when her eyes landed on the girl and began speaking quickly, “Aoi~~~~ Are you okay?! Are you hurt?! I knew I shouldn’t have left you to go home by yourself! Ahhh!”

“Minami, calm down. I’m fine. See?” Aoi waved her arms around to show Minami that she was fine.

“Okay. Okay. I understand, but what happened?” Minami asked.

“Basically, Risa saved me from getting hit by a car,” Aoi replied nonchalantly.

Minami was surprised, “Risa did?!”

The bell to signal the start of morning classes rang before Aoi had a chance to reply to Minami. The other girl made her way over to her seat as the teacher walked in. The classroom did their usual greeting to the teacher before he started his lesson.

Aoi took a quick glance over at Risa’s desk, but the girl was nowhere to be seen. She seemed unfazed by the absence of the other girl. Just like the last time the two met, Aoi’s thoughts were telling her that she had already rejected Risa.

“Where she is right now is of no concern to me,” Aoi thought as she began writing down the lesson into her notebook.

By the time Wednesday rolled around, Aoi’s thoughts were betraying her. Aoi was becoming anxious as Risa still had not come to school yet. Risa’s absence was slowly getting to Aoi. She could not focus during class as she would glance at Risa’s desk every few minutes. The consequences of Risa’s absence were becoming obvious to those around Aoi.

“Aoi, are you okay?” Minami asked as the two of them ate lunch.

Aoi was puzzled by the question, “Yeah, why do you ask?”

“I don’t know why, but it seems like you have been out of it since the start of the week,” Minami replied.

Aoi giggled, “You're just imagining things, Minami.”

Minami’s words echoed inside of Aoi’s head. Aoi was used to having Risa’s presence nearby. Even if Risa’s presence meant harassment for the past two years, it was calming for Aoi to see the other girl. The absence of Risa after the incident made Aoi feel guilty and was unnerving her with her decision to reject Risa.

Aoi had completely lost her composure once Friday arrived. The glances became worse as Aoi became fidgety during the middle of class. The teacher scolded Aoi for subconsciously tapping her pen loudly on her desk which disturbed the class. Aoi only became aware of her actions after the teacher scolded her.

Risa being absent for the whole week caused chaos in Aoi’s head. Aoi could not understand her thoughts; they were a jumbled mess of conflicting emotions. Her thoughts told her to find out what happened to Risa, but her heart was telling her the opposite. Aoi started daydreaming as lunch break began.

“Aoi? Aoi? Earth to Aoi~~~” Minami asked as she tried to get Aoi’s attention.

Aoi snapped out of her daydreaming, “Huh? What is it Minami?”

Minami sighed, “Aoi, I need you to answer me seriously. Is there something going on?” Minami asked as she drank out of her juice box.

Aoi sighed as well, “I honestly don’t know myself. I have been having these weird thoughts since the start of the week.”

Minami grabbed Aoi’s shoulders with both of her hands and gave Aoi a serious look, “You need to relax this weekend. I think the incident is still getting to you. Do something you enjoy. Even watching that show of yours is fine. So long as you are relaxing. You need to clear your mind.”

“Yeah, I think you are right,” Aoi said as she nodded her head.

---***---

Aoi was lying down on her bed to relax. She had taken Minami’s advice to heart and was planning to do nothing the whole weekend. However, she quickly became bored out of her mind from doing absolutely nothing. She sat up in her bed and looked around her room.

The room was a complete mess. There were sheets of paper lying everywhere on the floor. Aoi had made a mess of her room throughout the week. She laid out her homework everywhere to work on them. It was her way of calming herself down due to losing a grip on her thoughts.

Aoi got out of her bed and began collecting all of the papers on the floor. She organized them into neat stacks based on which subject they belonged to. There were even sheets of papers that managed to find their way underneath Aoi’s bed. Aoi lied down on the floor beside her bed and reached under her bed to collect the sheets of paper.

“Huh? What is this?” Aoi asked aloud when she felt a thick piece of paper under her bed.

Aoi pulled the strange paper out from underneath her bed. She sat up and rested her back against her bed. The thick piece of paper in Aoi’s hand was a folded square piece of paper. Aoi found her name written on one side while the other side was taped.

Aoi carefully removed the piece of tape while making sure to not rip the paper. She unfolded the piece of paper and began to read its contents. Her eyes traced the written words as she realized who had written them. Her grip on the paper became tighter as she continued to read the words.

Aoi’s hands lowered as she finished reading the contents of the paper. Tears began to fall from Aoi’s eyes. Aoi felt bursts of emotions run through her as she read the paper. Her thoughts filled with anguish as she realized the mistake she had made.

The flame in Aoi’s heart grew larger and larger as Aoi continued to let more tears fall. The emptiness in her heart could not contain the flame that was growing rapidly. The void in her heart was rapidly filled with the warmth of the flame. An explosion occurred in Aoi’s heart as the emptiness was completely engulfed by the flame.

Aoi began sobbing as she felt the emotions that she thought were destroyed return to her. The feelings that Aoi had rejected for the past week filled her heart. There was a sharp pain in Aoi’s heart as if it was telling her what a complete fool she had been. The tightening feeling in her heart made it even more clear that she had been foolish for the past week.

The aggressive thoughts in Aoi’s head were replaced by pleasant thoughts. Aoi felt as if her thoughts were telling her what to do. It was as if they were guiding her towards what she truly wanted in her heart. As if they knew what Aoi had wanted to do for the past week.

“Risa... I want to see you again,” Aoi whispered as she held the piece of paper close to her chest, tears still falling from her eyes.

---***---

Aoi walked to school on the following Monday. She walked into the classroom just as the bell rang and made her way to her seat. She glanced over at Risa’s desk to only find that it was still void of the girl’s presence. Aoi let out a sigh as she got her books out of her bag for morning classes.

Lunch break quickly came as Aoi daydreamed throughout the whole morning. It was no different than when she was daydreaming last week, but there was a difference this time around. There was a peaceful expression on Aoi’s face. The expression was a stark contrast to the expression that she had last week.

“Aoi? Aoi~~~ Geez, you really need to stop spacing out like that,” Minami called out to Aoi as the two sat together for lunch.

Aoi snapped out of her daydream, “Ah! I’m so sorry, Minami. I just can’t help it. I feel so happy right now.”

Minami jumped back in surprise as a smile formed on Aoi’s face, “Woah! Who are you and what have you done to Aoi?”

“Minami, relax. It’s still me here,” Aoi replied as the smile on her face became wider.

“I can’t help it. All of a sudden you become aggressive. And now you are suddenly acting as if you are in love? Do you see the problem I’m having here?” Minami asked in reply to Aoi acting weirdly.

“To tell you the truth I took your advice about relaxing, but I ended up realizing that I truly lo---” Aoi began to confess before she was interrupted by the appearance of Manaka.

Minami stood up when she noticed who the visitor was, “You!”

Aoi pulled on Minami’s arm, “Calm down, Minami. Manaka has never harmed me.”

Manaka giggled, “Aoi is right you know. Even though I hang out with Risa, I never understood why she was so cruel to Aoi.”

“It’s fine. Did you need me for something?” Aoi asked with the same smile as earlier on her face.

“Yeah, do you mind if we talk in a more private area?” Manaka asked.

Aoi nodded, “Sure, let’s go.” Aoi stood up but turned to Minami before leaving, “Finish lunch without me. This might take a while.”

Minami nodded, “Okay, try to finish your conversation quickly.”

Aoi and Manaka walked out of the classroom. Manaka led Aoi towards the staircase and began walking upward. No words were exchanged between the two of them as they made their way up to the roof. They reached the door to the rooftop and Manaka opened the door to allow for Aoi to walk through.

Aoi turned around once she walked out on to the rooftop to find Manaka still in the doorway, “Aren’t you coming?”

Manaka shook her head, “No, I’ve done my part already. She’s waiting for you.” She then closed the door, leaving Aoi on the rooftop.

Aoi stood motionless as Manaka’s words lingered in her head. A bright smile appeared on her face when she realized who Manaka was referring to. She began to run around the rooftop as her heart jumped in excitement.

Aoi found Risa standing near the fence with her back towards the school. Aoi’s smile instantly disappeared as she felt the tense atmosphere in the air. She slowly approached Risa and stopped a few metres away from the girl.

Risa’s body flinched when she heard footsteps behind her. She already knew that it was Aoi. She breathed in deeply and then released the breath before turning around.

“Aoi…” Risa said as she tried to maintain her poker face expression, but it was obvious to Aoi that she wanted to cry.

Aoi did not know how to reply, “Risa…”

An awkward silence filled the air as the girls stood without speaking a single word. Risa opened and closed her mouth repeatedly as she could not get her voice to come out of her throat. Her heart was beating erratically as her thoughts were bouncing everywhere in her head. She took numerous deep breaths before finally being able to get words to come out of her mouth.

“Aoi, I have something I need to tell you,” Risa said as she paused for a moment.

Aoi spoke up, “Risa, I also---” She began to say but was interrupted by Risa.

“No Aoi, I have to tell you this,” Risa said as she took a deep breath before continuing, “You need to know the truth about everything.”

Risa began to speak again, “I was afraid,” Risa’s body began to shake, “When we took that purikura in the summer of our final year of middle school, I realized it. I realized that I had feelings for you.”

“Risa…” Aoi’s voice came out as a whisper.

“But I was so scared. I didn't know what to do about my feelings,” tears started to fall down the side of Risa’s face, “My parents always told me that it wasn’t normal for two girls to fall in love. I didn’t know what my parents would do if they found out about my feelings, but I didn’t want to lose you. I couldn’t bear losing you. But what could I do? I didn’t know what to do. What options I ha---” Risa choked on her own words as her thoughts became a mess.

Risa took a few deep breaths with subtle sobs in between before continuing, “I made the stupidest decision of my life right before we started high school. I thought that if I bullied you, I could still be by your side while getting rid of these feelings for you. I thought it was the only way to still be with you.”

Risa clenched her fists in frustration with herself as her tears started to fall faster, “But when I saw you fall to the ground after the ball hit you, the world around me stopped. I finally woke up from my delusion. I realized what an idiot I was. What a complete coward I was. How pathetic I was. It finally hit me that all I was doing was hurting you. I hate myself for not realizing it sooner. I hate myself for thinking everything was fine.”

Risa turned towards the fence, her back facing Aoi, “It was at that moment that I stopped caring about what my parents thought anymore. I didn’t care about what other people would have thought. All that mattered was that I wanted you to be my side forever. There was no other meaning in my life if I didn’t have you by my side.”

Risa paused again to collect her thoughts as her sobs became louder, “You know, I wanted to visit you in the infirmary. But Minami was already there when I came by. I was frustrated when I heard her talk about me. I knew she was right, but I still walked away. I came back when you were sleeping and left you the pouch.”

Risa looked up to the sky, “I thought that everything could be made right again after you read my note,” she never knew that Aoi never saw the note until now, “But my heart was crushed when I saw your reaction. The emptiness that I saw in your eyes, it told me everything. It was all over for me. I had lost the only person that I had ever cared for in my life. And for what? All because of a stupid delusion that I had. But I didn’t want to give up on you.”

There was a moment of silence as Risa covered her eyes with her sleeve to prevent more tears from falling, “I thought that if I tried hard enough, that I could still get you back. Even though I didn’t deserve to have you back, I still had to try with all my heart. I followed you home on the day of the car incident. My body automatically moved when I saw the car coming right at you. I was glad that I made it in time to save you. When we embraced, I remembered all the good times we had together.”

Risa paused again as she could not control her sobbing from overcoming her, “But it all ended when you pushed me away. I realized that I had no chance anymore. You hated me, and it hurt so much. To see you reject me like that, I just couldn’t hold back. I ran away to hide. I couldn’t blame you for acting that way. After all of the horrible things I did to you, I knew that I did not deserve forgiveness. I had no right to beg for forgiveness from you.”

Risa began to turn around, “I locked myself in my room for the whole week. I tried sorting out my feelings. I wanted to move on for my sake and to never bother you ever again. But I couldn’t come to terms with my feelings. Even if you hate me, I still wanted to see you be happy. This will be the last time you will see me, but I wanted to at least tell you how I feel. I love you, Aoi. I will always love you even if you hate me. Even if you find someone, I will never forget you. Even if you disappear, you will always be a part of my heart.”

Risa was shocked to see Aoi crying when she turned around. There was a deep pain in her heart as she believed that she was the cause of Aoi’s crying. What she did not realize was that the tears were tears of joy and not of pain. She began to walk past Aoi as she wanted to leave the girl alone.

“I’m sorry, Aoi. This is goodby---” Risa was interrupted by Aoi suddenly pulling on her arm as she walked past the girl. All of a sudden, Risa felt Aoi’s lips on her own as Aoi suddenly pulled her in for a kiss.

Risa’s eyes opened in shock. She processed what was happening in front of her for a moment before accepting the kiss. Risa nibbled lightly on Aoi’s lips before the girl accepted the gesture. Risa’s tongue entered Aoi’s mouth. It slowly explored every part of the other girl’s mouth as it got a taste of strawberry. The two of them continued kissing until they had to separate for air.

“You don’t hate me?” Risa asked bewildered by Aoi’s action.

“Baka, how could I hate you? I have been waiting two years to hear you say those words,” Aoi replied as she looked into Risa’s eyes with a smile on her face.

“But how?” Risa could not help but ask.

Aoi replied with tears in her eyes, “I never gave up on you these past two years. I always thought that I could get the old you back if I waited. My spirit wavered after the gym incident, but it came back after I read your note. To be honest, I only found it under my bed a few days ago.”

Risa wiped the tears from Aoi’s eyes before pulling her in for another kiss. She took the dominant role and pulled Aoi’s head in for a deeper kiss. The both of them embraced the warmth that they had missed for the past two years. Their kiss was cut short as Risa separated her lips from Aoi’s.

“Thank you so much for never giving up on me, Aoi. I promise that I will never hurt you ever again. For as long as I am still alive, I will never let you feel pain again. I will always protect you,” Risa said as she pulled Aoi into her embrace.

Aoi buried her head into Risa’s shoulder as she enjoyed being able to feel Risa’s embrace once more, “I am so happy to have you back. We have so much to catch up on.”

“Yeah, but let’s go back to class first. They must be wondering where you are right now,” Risa replied as she let go of Aoi.

Aoi giggled, “Un, let’s go.”

Risa held her hand out for Aoi. The other girl grabbed the hand that was offered to her and squeezed it lightly. The both of them looked at each other with a big smile on their faces. The conflict that they had went through was finally over. Their new journey began as they started to walk towards the door of the roof.

“Risa?” Aoi asked as she stopped walking, which caused the other girl to stop as well.

“What is---” Risa began to say, but she was suddenly interrupted by Aoi’s lips landing on her own. The kiss lasted for a few moments before Aoi quickly separated her lips from Risa’s lips. She stared deeply into Risa’s eyes before opening her mouth.

“You reminded me why I fell in love with you.”

What a beautiful ending!
I loved it.
Risa realized that the road she was following only hurt Aoi.
I'm glad you solved it. I hope that Minami does not give her a heart attack when she sees them enter together hand in hand.

@Minami-chan: I am glad to see that you liked it. I can't guarantee that Minami won't have a heart attack. All I can say is that Risa is going to have a tough time trying to get approval from the overprotective "sibling". XD

@Shinoki: I am also happy that they are together aga... well finally together. This is the only ship that Aoi has after all.

@Miniju: Risa is always cute when she's being lovey dovey.

A/N: Hello everyone! I am back from my writing break!
I know I am a bit late considering that it has already been half a month since Valentine's day, but I felt like writing a piece for it.
This time will feature the HabuYuuka pairing. It was one of the pairings I haven't written about yet, and the first one that came to mind when I was planning this.
Enjoy!

Just Wait A Little Longer [HabuYuuka]

Sugai Yuuka was currently sitting on her girlfriend’s bed. She looked on as the taller girl sat in a bean bag chair with a controller in the girl’s hand. The taller girl was staring at the TV that was sitting against the wall while playing one of her video games. Yuuka was slowly feeling lonely.

“Habu-chan, do you know what day it is today?” Yuuka asked.

“Hmmm…” Habu Mizuho pondered for a second as her hands continued to tap the controller, “I can’t say that I do.”

Yuuka let out an internal sigh as she felt the feeling of disappointment creep up on her. Today was Valentine's day. The day that couples usually do something romantic together or reserve to spend time together. Neither of these things were what Yuuka was currently doing.

Yuuka was expecting to spend quality time together with Mizuho. The both of them led busy lives as university students. They barely had time for each other with the constant bombardment of assignments and tests. Valentine's day happened to be the only time that they were both available in the past few weeks.

“I need to go to the washroom,” Mizuho suddenly announced as she paused her game and left the room.

Yuuka fell back on the bed as she let out another sigh. This was the first Valentine's day that they were going to spend as a couple. She had high hopes for this day as Mizuho sent her romantic LINE messages every day for the past week. This turn of events made today feel like a complete disappointment for Yuuka.

Yuuka could still remember the day that Mizuho and her became a couple. Mizuho was the first to confess their feelings between the two of them. The confession was sudden. That is to say that it was unromantic, but that was something that could not have been avoided at the time.

For some inexplicable reason, Yuuka and Mizuho ended up going on a camping trip with just the two of them. They had been friends since middle school, so there was no reason for either of them to reject the idea of a camping trip. Their food supply dwindled during the trip, so they were forced to use the canoe that they brought along with them to fish. That was when Mizuho confessed to Yuuka. Of course, Yuuka reciprocated the feelings as she had a crush on Mizuho since they first met. Ironically, the very next day, Yuuka suffered from stomach aches the whole day as a result of eating accursed greens.

“I’m back,” Mizuho announced as she opened the door.

Yuuka sat up, “Welcome back,” she said with a refined smile on her face.

“Thanks, Yuuka,” Mizuho replied as she closed the door behind her.

Mizuho went back to her bean bag chair and resumed her video game. Yuuka let out another sigh for the umpteenth time. She once again fell back on the bed. She knew it was going to be a while before Mizuho finishes with her game.

“I will be back in a minute. I need to get something,” Mizuho suddenly said after one minute from when she returned to the room.

Yuuka sat up in surprise, “What? It has only been one minute since you came back.”

“It’s kind of urgent. I will be back in a few minutes,” Mizuho replied as she quickly left the room.

Yuuka fell back on the bed for the umpteenth time as she let out another sigh for the umpteenth time. Her patience was thinning as she felt the frustration build up in her. She pulled out her phone and opened her LINE application. There was one person who she knew that could help her in this situation.

Akanen, are you available right now?

A few seconds went by before Moriya Akane replied, “Hey Yuuka. Yeah, I’m free. Something wrong?

Everything…

That doesn’t sound good, what happened?

Habu-chan.

Did you two get into a fight?

No, she is making me frustrated right now. It is Valentine’s day and we are in her room, but all she has been doing is playing video games. She should be spending time with me.

Yuuka… You should tell her that yourself. I know how proper you are outside of LINE, so I know you wouldn’t confront someone like that normally. But I think you should this time. Otherwise, you will just be miserable for the rest of the day.

Fine… I will try to confront her like you said… Forgot to ask, but what are you doing right now?

Manaka came over to my house.

What? Shouldn’t she be with Risa?

It’s complicated. Gotta go. I will tell you about it later. Good luck with Habu-chan.

Yuuka put her phone back into her pocket. She stared at the ceiling as she thought of what she was going to say to Mizuho. Akane was right in that Yuuka was not a confrontational kind of person. Her ojou-sama upbringing taught her to always be proper and elegant in all situations.

“I’m back,” Mizuho once again returned to the room.

Yuuka once again sat back up on the bed, “Welcome ba---” she noticed that Mizuho came back empty-handed, “Did you not say that you were going to get something urgent?”

Mizuho’s body suddenly froze. Her eyes darted left and right as a bead of sweat slid down the side of her face. She was obviously thinking of something to say, but nothing came to her mind. Yuuka was oblivious to all of this as Mizuho was facing away from her.

“Ah, I ended up doing something else. It was more important. Yes, more important. I will go get that other thing later,” Mizuho replied in a panic as she walked back to her bean bag chair.

Yuuka, yet again, let out another sigh. She began to stare at the back of the bean bag chair that Mizuho was sitting in. The words that she wanted to say finally came to her as she stood up. She walked over to where Mizuho was sitting and stopped in front of the girl.

You better stop playing this game right now or we are over!

That was the sentence that ran through Yuuka’s head, but all that came out was, “Have you finished playing your game yet?”

Mizuho paused her game as she looked up at Yuuka who was towering over her from the girl’s standing position, “I will be done in a minute.”

“You said that last time,” Yuuka replied with a glint of anger in her eyes.

Mizuho picked on the anger in the glare that her girlfriend was giving her, “Ah! I just remembered something,” she said as she stood up, “I will be back in a minute!” she quickly left the room.

Once the door close, something snapped inside of Yuuka.

“Who does that girl think she is?!” Yuuka grabbed the closest pillow that she could find.

“Making me wait and wait?!” Yuuka threw the pillow that was in her hand across the room.

“Today is Valentine’s day!” Yuuka grabbed the bean bag chair.

“She is supposed to be spending time with me not with you!!!” Yuuka threw the bean bag chair across the room. The controller that was lying in the bean bag chair flew out and landed beside the bed.

Yuuka saw the controller and walked over to it, “I have had enough with you!” she tried to kick the controller, but she missed her kick. Instead, she stubbed her toe into the side of the bed.

“Itai yo~~~” Yuuka cried out as she crouched down to hug her toe that she stubbed.

Mizuho walked in a moment later, “Yuuka, I’m ba---” she paused when she saw the state of her room, “What happened here?”

Yuuka stood up when she heard Mizuho’s voice. Mizuho and her made direct eye contact with each other. Yuuka glared at Mizuho with intense anger, which caused the other girl to shiver. She began to walk towards Mizuho.

“I have had enough of this! I am leaving!” Yuuka yelled as she walked by Mizuho.

“Yuuka! Wait!” Mizuho yelled behind Yuuka as she grabbed the other girl’s slender hand.

Yuuka tried to pull her hand away from Mizuho, “Let go of me!” she flailed her arms, but Mizuho had a strong grip on her wrist.

“Yuuka! Listen to me!” Mizuho pulled Yuuka into her embrace, which caused the shorter girl to stop resisting, “I know you are frustrated, but please. Just this once, can you wait a little longer?”

Mizuho looked deeply into Yuuka’s eyes. Yuuka could see the sincerity behinds the round orbs that stared at her. The anger that was flaming in Yuuka was quenched and replaced by a sense of embarrassment. The two girls were in a compromising position.

Yuuka quickly pushed Mizuho away from her, “Fine! Make it quick,” she said as she walked over to the bed and sat down.

Mizuho nodded, “I will be back,” she replied as the door closed behind her.

Yuuka calmed down once Mizuho left the room. She looked around the room. The room was in a state of disaster. A feeling of guilt and regret surfaced in Yuuka as she realized what her actions had caused. Yuuka pulled up her sleeves and began to clean up the mess that she caused. Mizuho returned to the room just as Yuuka finished cleaning up.

“Hey Yuuka, I’m ba---” Mizuho paused when she looked at the room, “Woah, it’s seems that you were busy, while I was gone.”

Yuuka smiled with a slight blush in her cheeks, “I have to apologize for earlier. I should not have become mad at you. I felt guilty about making a mess in your room, so I had to clean it up.”

Mizuho walked over to Yuuka and patted her on the head, “Don’t worry about that. I have finally finished. Let’s go,” she grabbed Yuuka’s hand and began to walk out of the room, pulling Yuuka along with her.

“Where are we going?” Yuuka asked.

“You will see,” Mizuho replied with a wide smile on her face.

Mizuho led Yuuka down the stairs. Yuuka watched the side of Mizuho’s face as she saw excitement on the taller girl’s face. Once the two girls reached the first floor, they made an immediate right and headed straight for the dining room. Yuuka was left speechless once she saw the spectacle in front of her.

The dining room was dimly lit by the two candles that stood on the table. The dining table was set up for two people. A white fabric covered the table, while utensils were laid out beside the two plates at either ends of the table. Plates of baked potato, corn, and various vegetables lied at the centre of the table around a large plate of meat. A vase with a large bouquet of red roses stood near the edge of the table.

“Did you make all of this?” Yuuka was finally able to speak.

Mizuho scratched the back of her head with one of her hands, “Yeah, I made all of this. Happy Valentine’s day, Yuuka. I’m sorry that I took so long. This was my first time making all of this.”

Yuuka pulled Mizuho into a light kissed and wrapped her hands behind the taller girl’s neck, “This is all so wonderful. Happy Valentine’s day. I love you, Habu-chan. However, I now feel terrible for getting mad at you earlier. I did not know this was what you were doing the whole time”

Mizuho giggled, “I love you too, Yuuka. Don’t worry about it, I should have just told you what I was doing. Anyways, we should eat now. The food is going to get cold.”

Yuuka nodded, “Un, let us eat,” she removed her arms from behind Mizuho’s neck.

Mizuho led Yuuka over to one of the chairs and pulled it back, “For you, m’lady,” she motioned Yuuka towards the chair.

Yuuka accepted the gesture, “How charming of you, prince Habu,” Mizuho pushed the chair in slightly as Yuuka sat down.

Mizuho could not help but blush, “Anything for you, my one and only ojou-sama.”

“How many roses are in this vase?” Yuuka asked as Mizuho walked over to the other seat.

“Exactly 99 red roses,” Mizuho replied as she sat down in her chair.

Yuuka thought for a moment before the meaning of the number of roses donned on her, “I did not realize that you could be so romantic.”

Mizuho shrugged lightly, “I didn’t spend all of that time playing visual novels for no reason.”

Mizuho began to plate both her plate and Yuuka’s plate with the food on the table.

“Wait a moment… Is this not kobe beef?!” Yuuka exclaimed after she realized what kind of meat Mizuho prepared.

“Is it not to your liking my hime-sama?” Mizuho jested.

“That is not the problem! Kobe beef is so expensive. You did not have to buy such an expensive piece of meat,” Yuuka retorted.

“I can’t skimp out on our first Valentine’s day dinner together,” Mizuho replied as she poured two glasses of red wine for the both of them.

“You even bought red wine?! This is the best day of my life!” Yuuka declared.

Mizuho chuckled, “I am glad to hear that,” she raised her glass, “To our first Valentine’s day together. I will love you till the day I die.”

Yuuka raised her glass as well, “Till death do us part.”

@MaYukiIsLife: Uhhh... That is a good question. I will have to get back to you on that one. Habu is sweet, but she should work quicker next time or Yuuka might blow up her room again. XD

@Shinoki: I am glad that someone found the reference to the accursed greens funny. :)

A/N: Hello everyone! It is finally time for a YuukaNen fic!
All I can say for this one is please don't hate me after reading it. :(
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

Without You [YuukaNen]

The world around us keeps on moving forward. One thing leads to another thing which then leads to another thing. This cycle never stops and just keeps on repeating itself for eternity. Even when you want it to stop, just for a moment, it will just forcibly push you along with it.

The passage of time and the flow of the world are intertwined. They only move in one direction, forward. When you want the passage of time to stop, the flow of the world will force time to continue. When you want the flow of the world to stop, the passage of time will force the world to continue. Life becomes cruel when you want both the passage of time and the flow of the world to stop. I should know, I have experienced it in the past.

My walks to school were just never the same anymore. I walked down the same streets, saw the same people, and got on the same buses and trains; but there was something missing that used to be around me. The space to my left was empty. This space was reserved for you.

The people around me were moving forward. They enjoyed their time with the people around them. Laughing, running, gossiping; these were just some of the things they did. They were the complete opposite of me.

I wanted everything around me to stop. The world and time, all of it. It did not matter so long as they stopped for a moment. It would be even better if they rewound, but that was when life became the cruellest. Life becomes the constant reminder of your regrets, your sorrows, and the face of reality.

The classroom was never the same without you. My seat in the back of the class beside the window was the best spot in the classroom. The wind blew gently into the classroom beside me which always felt the nicest. It was where I could sleep behind my textbooks when I was tired without being caught by the teacher. But the most important thing of all, it was where I could watch you in front of me.

Your seat has always been right in front of mine. It was how we first became friends. We did not talk much when we first met, but I could never get my eyes off of you. You were so beautiful, so innocent, and so elegant. One day we just suddenly became friends.

My fondest moments of us at school were at our seats. We would pass notes to each other during class. The teacher scolded us a few times, but we always ignored him. The best moments were when you would turn around as morning classes ended and asked to eat lunch with me. We shared our bentos, conversations, homework, and so much more.

Those moments were far off in the past. Now, your seat lies empty. No one has touched your seat for a very long time now. The lack of your presence in your seat is a constant reminder of the cruelty of life. It was the reason that I wanted everything to rewind itself.

The top of your desk has been empty ever since, but today was different. There was a tall slender white vase sitting on top of your desk. Water filled the vase up to its lips. Six roses rested in the water. There were two light pink roses, two white roses, one red rose, and one black rose. I picked them out myself.

All that I could do during class was stare at the sight in front of me. The image of the vase sitting on the desk of your empty seat hurt so much. I became engrossed in the sight to the point that I did not notice the bell ringing to signal the start of lunch break. It was only when someone tapped my shoulder that I broke out of my trance.

“Hey Akane, are you feeling okay?” the voice of Shida Manaka asked me.

Manaka is one of our friends. The three of us became friends roughly at the same time that we became friends. She knew that I had feelings for you and supported me. The two of us devised plans to get you to notice my feelings, but none of them ever worked. In the end, all it took was a direct confession for me to find out that we shared the same feelings.

I replied with a surprised expression, “Ah, Manaka! Yeah, I’m fine. Why do you ask?”

“It seemed like you haven’t moved since lunch break started. I just wanted to see if you want to come eat lunch with us,” Manaka said with a slight smile on her face.

The smile on my face disappeared as Manaka’s words reminded me of you. My eyes wandered momentarily to your desk before returning to meet Manaka’s eyes. She noticed my eyes shift and turned around to look at your desk. Her expression went dark when she saw the vase on your desk.

“I am not hungry today,” was all that I could reply with.

Manaka nodded, and an awkward silence formed between us. The both of us did not know what to say to the other. I did not blame Manaka for reminding me of you, but I suddenly wanted to be alone at that moment. She probably sensed what I was thinking as she was about to leave, but the sudden appearance of someone else halted her in her tracks.

“Manaka!” Watanabe Risa yelled as she jumped at Manaka and began to kiss her neck.

Manaka started giggling, “Risa, stop. That tickles!”

Risa is one of our other friends. We only became friends with her after Manaka and her became a couple. It became clear to me that Manaka had feelings for Risa roughly a month after we became a couple. Looking from afar, I had the feeling that Risa shared the same feelings as Manaka.

The problem was that the two of them had a hard time letting out their feelings. I wanted to repay my debt to Manaka for helping me confess to you, so I devised a plan. The both of them came to the gym after I asked the both of them to help me with some school duties. They believed that the gym teacher wanted us to do an inventory of the gym storage. I locked the gym storage door once the both of them entered and then I walked away.

I came back an hour later to unlock the door. The first thing that Manaka did when she got out of the storage was punch me in the shoulder. I have to admit that it hurt quite a bit, but I saw love in her eyes. Risa walked out after Manaka and mouth a silent thank you before intertwining her hand with Manaka’s hand. My plan succeeded, and they have been a happy couple ever since.

I stared at the both of them as they continued to flirt in front of me. My heart ached as I remembered all of the intimate times we spent together. I was fondest of your gentle touch when you comforted me whenever I was feeling down. It always led to me pushing you down on your bed as our lips met. You never complained whenever I was a little rough with my love. In fact, it felt like we were the most connected when our love making became rough.

Manaka noticed the expression on my face and quickly pushed Risa away from her. Risa was about to protest, but Manaka silently signalled at your desk. Risa turned her head towards the desk and noticed the vase sitting on top of it. Her eyes shifted towards me, and she noticed the grim expression on my face. The smile on her face disappeared and was replaced with a horrified expression.

Risa realized what Manaka was trying to say. She looked down at the ground as the awkward silence from before she arrived returned. It was obvious from the look on her face that she was frustrated with herself. Her hands formed fists as they shook lightly. Manaka wrapped her hands around Risa’s fists which caused the other girl to relax her fists.

“I’m sorry,” Risa said in a low voice.

“It’s okay. Honestly, I’m fine,” I replied with a light smile on my face.

“I think we will take our leave then,” Manaka announced as she lightly pulled Risa’s arm.

“Okay. See you later,” I waved at them as they left.

The four of us used to eat lunch together all of the time. We would often just move our desks together to form a square. It was a joyous time as we ate our lunches and flirted with our respective partner. Our classmates always joked that it looked like we were on double dates.

Normally, I would accept their invitation to eat lunch with them, but today was different. I could not pull myself to move away from my desk. The vase sitting on your desk compelled me to stay. There would be a feeling of guilt in my heart if I left it alone.

My walks home were just like my walks to school; they have changed. I still walked down the same streets, still saw the same people, and still got on the same buses and trains; but there was still the empty space to my left. It is the space that will always be reserved for you.

We used to walk home together. It was perfect as we lived in the same general area. There were many places that we went to instead of going home after school. We often went to cafes and pastry shops to enjoy their delights.

I could still remember the first time I found out that you lived near me. We were not a couple yet at the time, so I was not walking beside you. There was a small distance between us as you walked in front of me. My eyes could not leave your figure. The way you walked, the way you carried yourself while you walked, and the aura that surrounded you hinted to me that you were an ojou-sama. I was mesmerized by your beauty.

I was surprised when we first started dating. You came over to my house the day after I confessed to you. All I can remember was how bold you were. I thought you would have been timid coming to my room for the first time, but I was completely wrong. Once the door was closed, you pulled me into a deep kiss and then pushed me onto my bed. My image of you changed that day, but I loved the bold side of you.

This bed has not changed at all. The sheets, the pillows, and the blanket are all the same; even your scent still lingers on this bed. No matter how much I tried to wash it out, it always stuck to the bed. It made it impossible for me to ever forget about you or the time we spent here.

We spent countless hours sitting at my desk studying together. It was a bit small, but we managed with it. You would sit on my lap as you explained everything to me. I would not be able to focus and started kissing your neck. Sometimes you would push me away, but you would accept it the other times. My desk relatively stayed the same, but there was only one addition on top of my desk.

I held the picture frame that was standing beside my desk lamp in my hands. Droplets of water fell onto the glass that was protecting the picture behind it. Tears were falling from my eyes as I caressed the picture frame glass. My heart ached every time I looked at the picture. It was a picture that I took of you on our first date.

I wiped the tears from my eyes as I tried to stop them from falling again. I made a promise that I would not cry on this day. I placed the picture frame down on my desk and made my way over to my closet. I grabbed a white one piece out of my closet and changed out of my uniform. I then walked out of my house and began walking down the street.

My destination was a flower shop that was a short distance away from my house. The aroma of the different arrangements of flowers entered my nose the moment I walked through the entrance. I wandered through the store to look at the arrangements as the front of the store was empty. The clerk appeared from the back of the store just as I finished looking at the last arrangement that was on display.

“Sorry, about that. Irrashaimase--- Ah, Akanen! How have you been? I haven’t seen you in a while,” Habu Mizuho, who was the store clerk, greeted me.

“Habu-chan?! I didn't know you worked here. I have been doing great. How about you?” I replied surprised to see the familiar face.

Mizuho was one of the friends that you introduced me to. You told me that she was a childhood friend of yours. Apparently, she moved away before high school started, so she could not attend the same school as us. We hanged out with her every once in a while.

“I’m doing fine as well. What are you doing here?” Mizuho asked.

“I came to pick up an arrangement,” I replied.

“Let me go check in the back. It will just be a moment,” Mizuho replied as she disappeared from the front of the store.

Mizuho is a good friend. Being that she was your childhood friend, she knew everything about you. I went to her when I needed to know more about you. It was just before Valentine’s day that we became a couple, and I did not know what to get you. Mizuho told me that you really loved horses, so I got you a horse shaped pendant for Valentine’s day. She also helped me out with several other occasions.

“Here is your arrangement!” Mizuho yelled from behind the store as she came out with the arrangement in her hands, “It’s beautiful isn’t it?”

“Yeah…” my voice trailed off.

Silence filled the store as Mizuho and I stared at the arrangement. The arrangement was made up of a mixture of white lilies, white and pink carnations, and white chrysanthemums. They all combined together to form the shape of a horse. It was supposed to be in the image of your favourite horse, but the colours did not match.

“It’s been a year hasn’t it?” Mizuho asked in a solemn tone.

“Yeah… One year…” my voice trailed off.

“Are you going to visit her now?”

“That’s my plan.”

“Do you mind telling her that I miss her and that I’m sorry that I can’t visit today?”

“I will tell her for you, don’t worry.”

“Thanks, Akanen.”

I paid for the arrangement and began walking towards the exit. An idea suddenly popped up in my head, and I turned around and walked back to the counter. I passed a piece of paper with some words on it to Mizuho. She nodded and went to get the items I requested. She returned a moment later with the items in her hands. As a way to contribute to the arrangement, Mizuho gave me the items free of charge. I thanked her and then left the store.

My next destination was only a few blocks away from the flower shop. Each and every single step felt heavier as I made my way down the street. My heart sank deeper and deeper in the same way that my feet felt heavier. Willpower was the only thing that kept me from turning around and walking in the opposite direction.

My hands began to shake as I saw my destination over the horizon. There was a clear reason for my hands to be shaking at this moment. There was an ominous silence that filled the air as I approached the arch in the distance. Before I knew it, I had arrived at my destination.

“Keyakizaka Cemetery…” I whispered the name on the plate attached to the arch in front of me.

I walked through the arch and was immediately greeted by the caretaker who happened to walk by. He seemed like a nice old man and I greeted him back before we went our separate ways. There was a pitstop that had to be made before I could find where I wanted to go. I grabbed a wooden bucket and wooden ladle from the fountain located near the entrance of the cemetery in the hand that was not carrying the flower arrangement. I made sure to collect some water from the fountain with the bucket before continuing forward.

I began walking through the central avenue of graves. There was an endless sea of tombstones that lined the pathway. Some of the tombstones seemed like they have not seen a visitor in some time. It was obvious which tombstones had visitors recently. What the recently visited tombstones had in common was that there was an arrangement of flowers left in front of them.

The whole walk was silent save for the wind that was gentle blowing the leaves of the trees around me. There was no other soul that I could see within my field of sight. It was probably for the best as I looked like a complete wreck as I was walking.

My legs were shaking violently as I walked. The bucket in my hand was swaying awkwardly as my hands were shaking. The expression on my face was probably even worse. My heart was pounding rapidly. I could not keep my composure as I knew that I was going to see my destination in the next minute.

My body suddenly stopped when I saw your tombstone, “Yuuka…”

I suddenly started running towards your tombstone. I could hardly care less that I almost spilt all of the water in the bucket in my hand. Once I stood in front of your grave, I could feel my emotions overrun me. I placed the bucket and flower arrangement in my hands down on the ground so that I could wipe away the tears that were forming in my eyes.

“Hey, Yuuka. It has been a long time hasn’t it?”

I stood in silence for a moment as I stared at your tombstone. I could remember the time that you were buried here one year ago. All of our friends attended your funeral. Even a few of our classmates were able to visit briefly. It was a solemn moment for all of us as you had prematurely passed away.

I vividly remember the day that you passed away. We were on a date in Shibuya that day. I was so excited to celebrate your victory at your horse riding tournament the day prior. We were crossing the street on our green light when a car suddenly came speeding at us. All I remember feeling was your hand pushing me from behind. The next thing I knew was that your lifeless body was lying on the ground a few metres away.

“Yuuka… I’m so sorry. If it wasn’t for me you would still be alive today,” tears began to fall from my eyes.

We had already planned our future together. We had planned that both of us would go to the same university after graduating from high school. We would then graduate from university together. Then we would get jobs and start living together. Eventually, we might have started our own little family before growing old together.

I regained my composure as I wiped the tears from my eyes for the second time today, “I’m sorry Yuuka. I promised that I would not cry in front of you today,” there were still a few sniffs mixed in with my speech.

I grabbed the bucket that I had placed down on the ground earlier with one hand, while I grabbed the ladle with my other hand. I approached your tombstone and began to pour water over your grave with the ladle. I made sure that every square inch of your grave was washed. After all, it was probably your first proper shower in close to a year now.

Once the bucket was empty, I took a few steps back to get a proper look at your grave. I placed the bucket and ladle back down beside the flower arrangement and grabbed it as a replacement for the bucket. I removed the extra items and laid them down beside the bucket. I walked closer to your tombstone and placed the arrangement against the centre of the stone, and then I returned back to where the bucket rested.

“Hey Yuuka… It’s been a year hasn’t it? Habu-chan says that she misses you and that she is sorry she couldn’t make it today. Can you believe it? She’s working at a flower shop right now. It was kind of a shocking sight to be honest. I thought she would be at home watching anime or playing videos games. I guess this is what happens when you haven’t seen someone in a long time…”

I sniffled a few times as I felt tears well up in my eyes, “How have you been? I know it must have been lonely this past year. I have been doing fine myself actually. Manaka and Risa are still being flirty as ever.”

My voice became slightly brighter, “You have to hear this though. Those two went on a trip without me! I can’t believe them. They took a trip to a ryokan in Niigata prefecture. I know they wanted some time alone, but they could have at least asked if I wanted to go.” I laughed lightly as I showed you a bright smile.

The air filled with silence as I stared at your tombstone silently. There was an aching pain in my chest as I stood there. I could feel the emotions well up in my heart. I tried to keep the bright smile on my face, but it began to falter as the tears started to fall from my eyes. I fell to my knees as all of my emotions suddenly lashed out at once.

“Yuuka!!!” I began to cry uncontrollably, “I miss you so much! I want to be by your side! I want to hear you talk again! I want to feel your warmth! I want to feel your touch! I want to see the person that I promised to be with for the rest of my life!”

My vision became blurry as the tears kept on flowing out, “Why did you have to leave me? I am nothing without you! You made me whole! You were the only one who accepted everything about me! I can’t live without you!”

“It hurts so much! Every day, I can’t stop thinking of you! Everything around me reminds me of you! I can’t get you out of my mind! Your scent, your image, everything! I can never forget you!”

“You are the only person who I truly loved. You made me understand what love truly meant. How good it felt to love and be loved. How I could throw away everything to protect the person I loved. How simple actions can make me go crazy for the person I love. How spending time together could build a bond. And of course, how much it hurts to not be able to see the person I love the most in this world ever again.”

“I love you, Sugai Yuuka!!!”

I let out all of tears as I stayed in my kneeling position. It felt like all of my pent-up emotions were being washed out of my body. A few minutes passed by before I finally regained my composure. I turned around and reached for the extra items lying beside me. I crawled over to your grave and placed the items in front of the flower arrangement.

“I’m sorry, Yuuka. I promised myself that I wouldn’t cry today, but I couldn’t help it,” a light smile formed on my face, “Sometimes, I wish I could be by your side, wherever you are. But I promised I would live on, for the both of us.”

I stood up from my kneeling position. With the bucket in my hand, I began to leave. Before the the top of your tombstone disappeared over the horizon, I turned around to get one final look at your grave. The horse flower arrangement rested against your tombstone, while a pair of red and white roses sat in front of it. I took out the horse shaped pendant that I gave you on Valentine’s day out of my pocket and lifted it towards the sky.

“We will always be together.”

I'm crying. YuukaNen.... their happiness. Yuuka.... ahhhh.... For a moment, I had the hope that maybe you'd make a twist where Yuuka's not actually dead, but she is... This was too sad. (but it was also really good)

@Miniju: It was too sad for me to write. Maybe I will write more YuukaNen in the future, but they do show up in this fic. :)

@Minami-chan: It's sad, but at least we can be rest assured that Akanen still loves Yuuka. Thank you for the comment.

@Shinoki: That actually would have been an impressive plot twist at the end, but I didn't think of it. :(

A/N: Hello everyone! This week I present to you all a new RisaNeru multi parter I started writing.
This one actually took me quite a while to write, so I don't know how often I will update it. This piece also happens to be the longest individual piece I have ever written.
The current plan is for this to be 5 parts, but I may split it up further if I get too lazy to write long parts.
I will probably release an OS next week though.
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

I Thought We Were Friends - Part 1 [RisaNeru]

*beep* *beep* *beep*

The sound of an alarm clock woke the girl that was sleeping in her bed. She was still sleepy as she had gone to sleep late last night. The warmth of her bed did not help her situation at all. She groaned as the alarm continued to blare in her room.

*beep* *beep* *beep*

“Five more minutes,” the girl groaned as she turned her body away from the alarm clock.

*beep* *beep* *beep*

“Hai, hai, hai, I get it,” the girl snoozed her alarm as she turned towards it and looked at the time on her cell phone, “It’s 7:45 AM. I still have time.”

The girl placed her cell phone back down on her bedside table and covered her whole body and head with her blanket. The warmth coming from her blanket soothed the girl’s body. Just as she was about to fall asleep again, it finally donned on her what time it was.

The girl’s eyes opened wide in shock under the blanket. The girl sat up violently in her bed, pulling her blanket away from her upper body, “7:45 AM?! I’m going to be late for school!”

The girl jumped out of her bed and ran straight to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and finished her morning routine as quickly as possible. She then ran back to her room. There was a stray sock lying in the middle of the floor, which the girl happened to step on and slipped. Her room was sent into a frenzy as objects flew from drawers, shelves, and tables. The girl unfortunately landed on her back.

“Ugh… Where am I?” the girl was dazed by her fall.

The girl’s cell phone happened to fly up into the air during the commotion and landed in the girl’s hand after the girl fell on her back. The girl looked at the time on the cell phone before her eyes widened in surprise, “7:59 AM?! Yabai! Yabai! Yabai!”

The girl jumped up onto her feet and ran over to her closet. She grabbed her uniform out of her closet and then dressed herself. She made sure to fix her long hair and grabbed her school bag before running down the stairs. She made one final pitstop in the kitchen.

“Ittekimasu!” she yelled to her mother as she grabbed a piece of toast from the dining table and placed it in her mouth.

“Itterassh--- Wait! You forgot your lunch!” the girl’s mom yelled after the girl, but her daughter had already run out of the door.

The girl began to run down the street. The path from the girl’s house to the school involved many twists and turns in the road. Naturally, the girl would normally wake up earlier, so she could leisurely walk to school. Today was an exception for the girl.

“Mou! I’m already late! I will have to take a shortcut!” the girl yelled aloud as she deviated from her normal path to school.

On another road not too far from the girl, another girl was also running to school. This girl had short hair and was wearing the same uniform as the long hair girl. Her appearance looked disheveled as she also woke up late like the other girl. Coincidentally, this girl also had a piece of toast in her mouth.

“Ahhh! Why didn’t my alarm clock go off this morning?!” the short hair girl yelled as she continued to run down the street.

The two girls were running down different roads, but their paths met at an intersection. They were oblivious to the presence of the other as there were houses blocking their view. All that mattered to them at that moment was getting to school. In a matter of moments, the two of them crossed paths.

“I am late!” both girls yelled at the same time.

*bang*

The two girls ran straight into each other. Their bags that they were holding and the pieces of toasts in their mouths flew up into the air. The long hair girl fell on her behind, while the short hair girl stumbled backwards. Their bags landed on either side of the road.

“Mata?!” the long hair girl exclaimed as the two pieces of toasts landed on her eyes, “Oi! When did it become night time?!”

The short hair girl, who had regained her balanced already, giggled, “It’s still early morning you know.”

The long hair girl was surprised by the new voice, “Huh? Who's there?” the two pieces of toasts covering her eyes began to slide off her face.

The long hair girl was welcomed by the view of the short hair girl standing close to her. Her heart skipped a beat as she took in the beauty of the girl in front of her. She became lost in admiration for the girl. A wide grin appeared on her face.

The short hair girl did not seem to have noticed the grin that appeared on the long hair girl’s face. She began to walk over to the other girl. Her heart rate increased momentarily when she got a clear view of the girl. The expression on her face remained calm as she kept her composure.

“Kirei…” the long hair girl subconscious whispered under her voice.

“Sorry?” the short hair girl could not hear what the long hair girl had said.

“Ah! It’s nothing,”

“Hmm… Okay. Here, grab my hand,” the short hair girl extended her hand out to the long hair girl.

“Thanks,” the long hair girl accepted the gesture and pulled herself to a standing position, “What is your name?”

“Watanabe Risa, you?” Risa replied and asked with a smile on her face.

“Nagahama Neru,” Neru responded with a normal smile.

“That’s a nice name. Nice meeting you.”

“Likewise.”

Neru and Risa collected their bags from the side of the road. Both of them dusted off their bags and clothes before pulling out their cell phones. They checked the time before looking at each other. A shocked expression appeared on both of their faces.

“WE ARE LATE!!!” they both shouted before beginning to run to school, together.

---***---

Neru let out a yawn. She was walking to school on Monday morning. The memories of when she and Risa first met ran through her head. That was the middle of first year of middle school. It was now the middle of the second year of high school. The past four years have been a joyous time for the two of them as they progressed through their school careers together.

Neru made sure to wake up on time this morning. She staggered along as she swayed from left to right as she walked down the street. Ever since Neru started high school, she has been in a state of perpetual fatigue. At some point, she thought that she had some sort of chronic disease, but she quickly dismissed her condition as a part of life.

Neru’s constant state of fatigue made it hard for her to wake up in the morning. To be perfectly honest, it was hard for Neru to wake up at any time of the day once she fell asleep. She had to make sure that she set up multiple alarms in the morning just to wake up, but a majority of the alarms went in one ear and out the other, failing to wake her. If not for her mother, Neru would be constantly late for school.

The need to wake up earlier stemmed from the path that Neru took to get to school. It was a long path that required Neru to make a turn every other corner, but it was calm and tranquil. The shortcut that Neru used on the morning that she met Risa was treacherous. It was too dangerous for the fatigue filled body of Neru in the morning.

Neru was perfectly fine with this arrangement as she let her body autopilot as she dozed off. She of course was still in control of her body and was fully aware of her surroundings, but she stayed in a suspended mode to conserve energy. The only time that she expended extra energy was when someone she was acquainted with appeared beside her.

As Neru approached an intersection, she began to pull out her cell phone to check the time, but she stopped her movement when she suddenly heard a loud sound coming to her side. She turned her head towards the source of the sound and her body suddenly kicked itself into high gear. Risa was running down the street towards Neru with a bag in one of her hands and a piece of toast in her mouth. A panicked expression was on her face.

“Why are you running?” Neru yelled towards Risa.

Risa did not respond until she got closer to Neru, “Start running!” she then ran past Neru.

Neru tilted her head to the side with a confused expression on her face, “Why?” she was forced to shout to the fleeing Risa.

“It’s 7:50 AM! We are going to be late!” Risa’s voice became smaller as she ran into the distance.

Neru’s confused expression instantly turned into a shocked expression upon hearing Risa’s reply, “What?!”

Neru began running in the same direction as Risa. They ran for a small distance, but it seemed like the distance between the both of them increased by a quarter of a kilometre. Risa was a faster runner than Neru, so it was natural that the distance between them would progressively widen as they continued to run. Neru became frustrated as it seemed like Risa was slowly moving out of her reach.

“Risa! Wait for me!” Neru desperately yelled behind Risa.

Risa turned her head toward Neru with a conflicted expression on her face, “Agh! Neru you need to run faster! I can’t slow down! Otherwise one of us won’t be able to make it in time to explain to Sensei!”

“It’s fine if Sensei gets mad! Just slow down a bit!” Neru yelled back as she started to run out of air.

Risa turned her head back in front of her, “Neru, I’m sorry!”

Not too far in front of Risa and Neru, Sugai Yuuka and Moriya Akane were walking to school together. They were childhood friends from as far back as they could remember, so it was natural for them to be walking together. The two of them belonged to the student council. In reality, Akane was the president of the student council while Yuuka was her vice president. Their current conversation naturally gravitated towards student council related businesses.

Yuuka brought up an important topic of student council work that had to be completed today, “The kendo club is requesting for new shoji to be installed in their training dojo, and they also made a request for a new set of shinai.”

Akane gave Yuuka a confused look, “What did they do THIS time?” she made sure to stress the second last word of her question.

Yuuka lightly giggled to which Akane did not notice, “According to the kendo club’s report, Momoko-chan broke a few of their shinai during practice, and the broken pieces of shinai flew into and teared the shoji.”

Showing an expression of frustration, Akane let out a sigh as she began to rub her temples with her hands, “Not that girl again. Takayama-senpai really needs to keep that girl on a leash. Maybe we can get Shiraishi-senpai to help. She could probably do something about her ‘child’.”

Yuuka let out another giggle which Akane noticed this time, “What's the matter with you?”

“Nothing, I just think this is a little funny. That is all,” Yuuka tried to maintain her composure, but a smile was showing on her face.

“You think this is funny?!” Akane exclaimed as she thought her vice president was laughing at the situation, “This is the 8th time this month. Last month it was 6 times. The month before that was 5 times. And don’t get me started on the month before that one.”

Yuuka could not contain herself and she began to laugh, which only furthered to anger Akane, “Yuuka! Take this seriously!”

“I apologize, but,” Yuuka wiped the tear that formed in one of her eyes from laughing, “I am not laughing at the kendo club situation that we are having. I am laughing at you.”

Akane was taken aback by Yuuka’s words, “What do you mean by that?”

“What I mean is that I was laughing at your reaction about the kendo club’s request. You become cute when you are stressed,” Yuuka replied with a wide grin on her face.

Akane’s cheeks became crimson red from Yuuka’s words, “Wh-wh-what did you say?”

Yuuka broke out into more laughter, “Your reaction to my teasing is also cute,” she winked at Akane.

Akane turned her head away from Yuuka upon hearing the girl’s reply, “Sh-sh-shut up, Yuuka.”

“Awww. You do not have to be embarrassed. Your serious hard-working personality is what I love about you...” Yuuka’s voice trailed off at the end of her sentence.

Akane’s eyes widened in surprise when she heard Yuuka’s words. Her heart skipped a beat as her mind could not believe what it had just heard. There was a loud pounding sound that came from Akane’s chest as her heart rate suddenly accelerated. The denial set in as Akane tried to dismiss Yuuka’s words as simple teasing.

Akane was scared to look at Yuuka’s face, but the courage that built up in her at that moment forced her to turn her head. When Akane turned her head to look at Yuuka, she was greeted with the brightest and sincerest smile that she had ever seen in her whole entire life. The world around Akane almost became dark as her heart almost stopped because of the smile on the girl in front of her, but she suddenly saw a figure running towards them from the side road that they were walking past.

Akane grabbed Yuuka’s hand to pull her to a stop, “Isn’t that Risa?” she pointed towards the running Risa.

Yuuka turned her head to look at where Akane was pointing at, “Hmmm? You are right. That looks like Risa. Why is she running?”

“I don’t know, but she looks panicked,” Akane replied to Yuuka as Risa passed by them.

“Risa! Wait for me!” Neru suddenly came into listening distance for Yuuka and Akane to hear her yell after the fleeing figure.

“And that’s Neru,” Akane commented with a confused look on her face.

“They are rather rowdy for a Monday morning. Are they not?” Yuuka commented as she giggled at the two of their classmates whose figures were becoming smaller in the distance.

“Yeah, but it’s not like this isn’t normal for them,” Akane chuckled.

“You are right about that one,” Yuuka replied as she turned her head back towards Akane.

Yuuka suddenly became quiet as she looked down towards the ground. A red blush appeared on her face, which Akane noticed. Akane traced Yuuka’s eyeline as she tried to figure out what the other girl was looking at. At the end of Yuuka’s eyeline, Akane found her own hand entangled with Yuuka’s hand.

Akane quickly separated her hand from Yuuka’s hand, “Ah! Sorry about that.”

“Do not worry about it,” Yuuka replied with a shy voice.

A moment of awkward silence transpired between the two of them before Yuuka’s normal expression returned.

“Returning to our original discussion, what are we going to do about the kendo club?” Yuuka asked with a cheerful tone of voice.

Akane let out a loud sigh, “We can figure that out later. But I swear. The kendo club will be the end of me at this rate.”

Yuuka and Akane’s conversation became inaudible once Risa and Neru turned the corner. Risa was still further ahead than Neru. The distance between them increased to half a kilometre. Neru desperately followed behind Risa as the air inside of her was almost depleted.

“Risa no baka,” Neru muttered under her breath as a single tear fell from her eyes.

After a few more minutes of running, Risa and Neru finally arrived at school. The students that they ran past in the entrance way gave the pair a confused look. Risa arrived at the classroom first and violently pulled the door open.

“Sensei! Gomenasai for being la---” Risa paused her apology when she looks around the classroom.

Neru arrived outside of the classroom and bumped into Risa because she could not feel her legs, “Oi, Risa! Why are you standing in the doorway for?”

“There’s no one here,” Risa replied in her normal calm voice.

“What do you mean?” Neru began to look into the classroom from behind Risa, “How can there be no---”

Risa and Neru were looking at an empty classroom. Neru pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and looked at the time. The clock on Neru’s cell phone showed “7:15 AM”. A burst of anger ran through Neru once she realized what time it was.

“Risa!” Neru yelled loudly behind Risa which caused the other girl to turn around in surprise, “It’s only 7:15 AM! We aren’t late at all!”

“What?!” Risa pulled out her cell phone to check the time and was surprised by what she saw, “How is that possible?! Earlier, my phone said it was 7:45 AM!”

Neru let out a sigh, “Risa how did you manage this? Agh, I can’t even feel my feet anymore. I’m going back to sleep. Wake me up once Sensei comes to start class,” she walked past Risa and walked to her desk. She placed her bag down, sat down, and closed her eyes.

Risa remained in the doorway of the classroom as she watched Neru stumble as the girl walked over to her desk. She let out a sigh before walking over to her own desk that was beside Neru’s desk. She placed her bag down, sat down, and looked over at the sleeping figure of Neru. A feeling of guilt formed in Risa’s chest as she watched the peaceful face of the sleeping Neru.

“I am such an idiot.”

---***---

Just as Neru had requested, Risa woke her up once the teacher walked in. Neru groggily stood up as the class representative, Yonetani Minami, proceeded through the regular pre-class routine. The whole class stood up and bowed to the teacher before sitting back down.

“Good morning class, we will be learning about politics today. Turn to page 394 of your book,” Tsuchida Teruyuki, the homeroom teacher, began his morning class lecture.

Only one minute passed before Neru’s head began to sway to her left and then to her right. Neru’s seat was beside the classroom window. Today happened to be a cool spring day with a gentle breeze. The classroom windows happened to be open which allowed for the breeze to enter the classroom. Neru was completely enjoying the breeze as she felt the energy drain from her body.

Neru shifted in her chair slightly to get into a better position to take a nap. Her head slouched forward slightly before quickly bouncing upright. This bobbing pattern repeated several times before Neru’s head finally stayed down. The girl tried to stay awake, but she fell under the spell of the sleep realm.

Risa watched Neru’s whole ordeal from her seat. She giggled as she watched Neru try to stay awake. After the other girl fell asleep, Risa watched the peaceful side expression of Neru’s sleeping face. It was a similar look to the expression that Neru had on her face when she was sleeping earlier.

Neru is really cute when she is sleeping,” Risa thought to herself.

Risa felt a pang in her heart when the thought about Neru went through her head. She looked down as she moved one of her hands over her heart. The vibration of Risa’s heart pumping rapidly transferred to her hand that was on her chest. This was the first time that Risa had ever felt this kind of emotion. It was a foreign feeling for the girl who always appeared to be emotionless to others.

What is this feeling?” Risa asked herself.

Risa was alerted by Neru’s sudden movement before she had a chance to think about what she had just felt. Neru grumbled as she once again shifted in her chair to get into a better position for napping. This time the girl was already asleep, so her movements were rather clumsy compared to earlier. Risa could not contain herself and let out a chuckle as she watched Neru shifting her body around in her chair.

I better wake Neru up,” Risa thought to herself as she prodded the sleeping Neru.

Neru groaned quietly while deflecting Risa’s hand that was prodding her, which only prompted the other girl to continue prodding her. After Risa prodded Neru several times, Neru finally yielded and opened her eyes to see who was disturbing her beloved napping time. Once she realized that it was Risa who was bothering her, Neru returned back to her sleeping position. This only served to annoy Risa who was trying to wake up Neru.

“Oi! Neru! Wake up,” Risa whispered to Neru while kicking the other girl’s leg.

Neru let out a loud yelp before her body rebooted itself. Her consciousness resurfaced and processed what had just happened. The classroom became silent as Tsuchida stopped his lecture and turned around to look at Neru. The class followed suit and turned to look at their classmate that disrupted the lecture.

“Nagahama-san, is something the matter?” Tsuchida asked with a look of annoyance from being interrupted during his lecture.

“Sorry?” Neru asked with a fake confused look on her face.

“You made a sound just now,” Tsuchida explained.

Neru tilted her head to the side, “I did?”

Tsuchida let out a sigh as he continued his lecture, “Just keep the noise to a minimum during class.”

Neru let out a sigh before glaring at Risa. A bead of sweat fell from Risa’s forehead as she received the glare from Neru. Risa sensed the strength of a tiger behind Neru’s eyes as the fear in Risa grew. The feeling of fear only dissipated once the tiger aura disappeared from Neru’s eyes; it was replaced by a feeling of caution due to the tanuki aura that formed in Neru’s eyes, signaling something even worse.

Neru was a smart girl. Her intelligence far exceeded beyond that of everyone in the class except for Yonetani. Neru and Yonetani formed the top two of the class in terms of grades. Their rivalry stemmed all the way back to the first year of middle school.

Yonetani was comfortable being the top of the class throughout elementary school. After the first test of middle school, she was devastated by the results; Neru had beaten Yonetani by one point. It was ever since that time that Yonetani vowed to defeat Neru, and it was also at that time that their rivalry blossomed.

By some stroke of fortune, the two girls were always in the same class. Their rivalry still continues to this day, but the whole drama was one sided. Neru never had any interest in competing with Yonetani, but the latter was convinced that the former was trying to defeat her. Yonetani became obsessed with dethroning Neru from the top of the class.

Yonetani was always furious when she saw Neru sleeping during classes. Neru showed little interest in studying, but she was always at the top of the class. Yonetani constantly questioned how Neru was able to beat her when she has to study all day just to maintain her position. To put it in more simple terms: Yonetani was jealous of Neru.

Neru’s strengths did not only lie in her intelligence; it also lied in her ability to be cunning when she wishes to be. What surprised other people was that Neru was completely unaware of her cunning nature. The precursor to Neru’s cunning nature surfacing is the tanuki-esque smile that appears on her face and the tanuki-esque aura that appears behind her eyes. Risa was well acquainted with Neru’s cunning nature.

“Ne, ne, Risa,” Neru whispered and motioned Risa to lean in closer towards her for them to speak.

“What is it, Neru?” Risa whispered back while gulping out of prior experience with Neru’s tanuki persona.

“Do you want to go eat yakiniku after school? I will pay,” Neru asked with a smirk on her face.

Risa’s eyes lit up like a fire upon the mention of yakiniku. Her neutral expression was instantly filled with excitement with the prospect of being able to eat yakiniku after school. After all, yakiniku was Risa’s favourite food, and any mention of the delectable caused the girl to lose her composure. This fact was something that Neru was well aware of.

“Of course! Where are we going?” Risa asked with pure excitement and a slightly louder voice than before.

“Hmmm… Do you know of a good restaurant?” Neru asked in a quieter voice.

“Oh, I know! There’s this really good restaurant that I heard about in Ikebukuro. We should go there,” Risa was nearly drooling at the images of yakiniku that popped into her head.

“Ahhh, really? Then we should go there,” Neru agreed while nodding her head with her smirk turning into a mischievous smile.

“Then it’s decided,” Risa declared slightly louder than before.

“Watanabe Risa!” Tsuchida suddenly yelled Risa’s name.

“Hai?!” Risa stood up in a panic.

“Can you answer the question I just asked?” Tsuchida asked impatiently.

“Sorry?” Risa was confused by Tsuchida’s question.

“The question. Can-you-answer-it?” Tsuchida enunciated each word of his question.

Risa looked around the classroom to try and figure out what the question was that Tsuchida had asked. She was completely distracted by her conversation with Neru that she did not even hear Tsuchida ask a question. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of Risa’s forehead as she knew that her time was running out. Her apparent saviour came in the form of Neru, which her eyes ultimately wandered towards as a final option.

“The answer is ‘42’,” Neru mouthed silently with a neutral expression.

“Sensei! The answer is ‘42’!” Risa answered with utmost confidence.

The classroom broke out into laughter once they heard Risa’s answer. Risa looked around the classroom, confused. She was unaware of the reason that her answer caused an uproar in the classroom. Risa looked towards Tsuchida to receive an answer to her confusion, but Tsuchida was shaking his head in disappointment.

“Watanabe-san, that answer could have worked in a math class, but this is a politics class. If you were paying attention, you might have remembered me mention that at the beginning of class,” Tsuchida said with an expression of pain from having a headache.

Risa played back the beginning of class in her head. Her face became red when she remembered that Tsuchida had mentioned that today was going to be a lecture on politics. The embarrassed Risa sat back down in her seat, while Neru was trying to contain her laughter. Neru could not contain her laughter for long before bursting out in laughter, bringing attention to herself.

“Nagahama-san, as you seem to think this is funny, can you answer the question?” Tsuchida asked Neru. He was expecting Neru to be unable to answer the question as he saw her talking to Risa earlier.

“Yes, Sensei,” Neru stood up before answering Tsuchida’s question, “Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is the 57th Prime Minister of Japan. He defeated his opponent Shigeru Ishiba, who was the former Minister of Defense, for the LDP presidency on September 26, 2012. President Abe went on to lead the LDP in a landslide victory in the 2012 general election and assumed office on December 26, 2012. His party also won the 2014 general election and, more recently, the 2017 general election.”

“That is correct, Nagahama-san. You may sit,” Tsuchida declared with a look of surprise on his face.

“Thank you,” Neru replied while taking her seat.

The rest of the class was not surprised that Neru was able to answer the question. It was a common occurrence for Neru to answer questions when it seemed like she was not paying attention in class. Risa was not surprised by this outcome, but she was mad at Neru for the fake answer that was provided to her by Neru. Anger filled Risa as she watched Neru sit back down in her seat.

“Neruuu!!!” Risa whispered in an aggressive tone to Neru.

Neru turned towards Risa with an innocent smile on her face, “Yes, Risa?”

“Don’t you ‘yes’ me. You know what you did,” Risa stated.

Neru tilted her head to the side and put a finger on her lip as if she was pondering about the statement, “I don’t know what you are talking, Risa. Can you enlighten me?”

“You gave me the wrong answer and embarrassed me in front of the whole class,” Risa’s voice was filled with rage.

Neru’s fake pondering expression suddenly turned into a sinister smile, “Of course I did. That’s revenge for making me run for no reason this morning. If you had just waited for me like I had asked you to, I wouldn’t have had the urge to seek revenge.” Neru stuck her tongue out at Risa.

“Wah?!” Risa asked, flabbergasted.

“And now I will go back to sleep. Don’t you dare try to wake me up until lunch. Oyasumi,” Neru threatened Risa before putting her head back on her desk.

Neru fell asleep before Risa had the chance to protest. Risa contemplated waking Neru up again but refrained from doing so. She was well aware of how scary Neru could be when someone disturbs her sleep without the girl’s permission. It was something that Risa did not want to experience again. Risa suddenly remembered something that was of the utmost importance to her at this moment.

“Agh! Neru, you better not have lied about the yakiniku!” Risa declared.

---***---

The end of class quickly approached and transpired. After Risa’s embarrassing incident at the beginning of class, Neru slept like a log for the remainder of the lecture. Fearing the repercussions of waking Neru up for a second time, Risa decided to listen to the remainder of the lecture. She was completely exhausted by the end of the class.

“Uwa! Thank you, President Abe, for making this class even more boring~~~” Risa complained as she sprawled her upper body on her desk.

Risa twisted her head towards the windows of the classroom. She was greeted by the view of Neru’s sleeping face as the girl was lying her head, facing Risa, on her outstretched arm on her desk. Risa’s heart once again skipped a beat from the sight of Neru sleeping. It was the same feeling that Risa had earlier at the beginning of class.

I can never get enough of her sleeping face, but,” Risa’s cheek reddens slightly before she shook her head, “I should probably wake her up for lunch.

Risa stood up from her seat before walking a few steps to reach Neru’s desk. A feeling of guilt ran through Risa’s body as she contemplated not waking up Neru from the girl’s slumber. As much as she wanted to keep on watching Neru’s sleeping face forever, Risa knew that Neru’s wrath would be scarier if she did not wake the girl up for lunch. Risa finally began the long process of waking Neru up.

“Ne, Neru. Wake up,” Risa said as she nudged the sleeping Neru.

Neru grumbled, “Just give me five more minutes.”

“No, Neru. You have to wake up now. It’s lunch break right now,” Risa sighed as she continued to nudge Neru.

“No… Grab the fish… It’s going to slip back into the water…” Neru whispered as her face distorted slightly.

“Neru, come on. Wake up already,” Risa said as she nudged Neru slightly harder.

“The attic… I turned it into a room for you...” Neru whispered in a happy tone of voice as a smile formed on her face.

“I guess I will have to do that then…” Risa whispered to herself as she leaned in closer to Neru’s ear, “I love you,” she whispered as her cheeks turned a crimson red colour.

Neru’s eyes opened in surprise as she shot up from her seat, “I’m awake!”

Neru looked around the classroom in confusion. A few pairs of confused eyes fell on Neru because of her outburst. Neru finally processed what she had done, and a light red colour formed on her cheeks. Her eyes finally turned to meet Risa whose cheeks were still a crimson red.

Neru tilted her head to the side, “Risa? Why are you blushing?”

“N-n-no reason at all!” Risa waved her hand in front of her face, flustered.

“Hmmm. Sou? Is it lunch time?” Neru asked, oblivious to her classmates who were already eating their lunches.

“Yeah,” Risa replied in her calm voice as her cheeks returned to their normal colour.

Neru sat back down, “Alright, then let’s eat as well,” she reached into her bag to grab her lunch.

Risa suddenly slammed her hands on top of Neru’s desk, “But I have a question first.”

Neru jumped in surprise, “Risa! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!” She turned her head towards Risa and was greeted by a serious expression on the other girl’s face.

“Were you lying about going to yakiniku?” Risa asked in a serious tone.

Neru blinked a few times before realizing what Risa was talking about, “No, I may have used that to trick you, but I wasn’t lying.”

“But were you lying about paying?” Risa retorted.

Neru shook her head, “No, I said I would pay, didn’t I?”

A smile suddenly beamed on Risa’s face upon hearing those words from Neru. Risa turned around and grabbed her lunch from her bag. She then pulled her chair from her desk and placed it beside Neru’s desk. She placed her lunch down on the desk before sitting down.

Risa clapped her hands in front of her, “Itadakimasu,” she said before beginning to eat her lunch with a bright smile on her face.

Risa is really cute when she smiles. It would be better if she smiled more often. People would stop misunderstanding the cool aura that she gives off. That aura of her’s makes people think she doesn’t care about others. But, Risa can be quite caring when you get to know her,” Neru thought to herself before clapping her hands in front of her, “Itadakimasu.”

Lunch break was when Risa and Neru did various things. The most obvious thing among them being that they ate lunch together. However, Risa took full advantage of this time on countless occasions to ask Neru for help right before a test. Neru obviously obliged to the whims of the cool girl, but it was to no avail as it did not change the outcome of the test for Risa.

Neru dreaded the lunch breaks where Risa was absent. Per the usual, Neru would fall asleep right before lunch break. The only person in the class who could wake Neru up was Risa. The class learned their lesson and gave up on waking Neru up during lunch break. This left Neru to sleep through lunch break and only waking up right as afternoon classes began. Neru was then forced to suffer the consequences of missing lunch break, alone.

Risa and Neru spent most of their lunch breaks chatting away together about various subjects. They often enjoyed sitting at Neru’s desk due to the breeze that would flow in through the window beside Neru’s desk. The classroom was their preferred location for lunch, but sometimes they preferred to be in a more private setting. The pair would occasionally switch their lunch eating location to the school roof where very few students visited.

The structures on the school roof provided perfect shade for Risa and Neru to sit under. They would sit side by side against one of the structures’ walls and ate their lunches. More often than not, they ate in silence and enjoyed the scenery that they could see from the roof together. There were multiple times where Neru would fall asleep against Risa’s shoulder. Risa avoided waking Neru up in those instances, and instead would lean her head against the shorter girl’s head that was resting on her shoulder. Neru was always ignorant of the happenings that occurred around her during those times.

Today, the pair spent their lunch break talking about music. Even though they were complete opposites in terms of personality, they both enjoyed the same kind of music: idol music. Their current favourite group was AKB48. Risa, surprisingly, was actually the person who made Neru interested in the group. They also liked discussing other genres of music and possible alternatives for their favourite group.

“I am just saying. ‘Glass wo Ware!’ would be an interesting song title,” Risa said as she sipped on her juice container.

“I agree with you, but I think ‘Mou Mori e’---” Neru began to say but cut her sentence short when she saw two figures walking towards them from different directions.

Akane and Yuuka were walking separately towards the pair that was discussing music. Akane had her sights on Risa, while Yuuka had her sights on Neru. The both of them arrived to Neru’s desk at roughly the same time. It was at that moment that they finally noticed the presence of the other. They gave a hostile glare at each other before looking away from each other. Neru could sense the hostility that had formed between the pair and had a bad feeling about it.

“Do you guys need anything?” Risa asked, oblivious to the hostility between the two girls standing in front of her.

“Risa, can we talk?”, Akane asked Risa.
“Neru, may I have a moment of your time?”, Yuuka asked Neru simultaneously as Akane spoke to Risa.

Neru shifted her eyes between the student council pair. The hostility between the two increased when they both spoke at the same time. The usually calm Akane was showing an expression anger mixed with regret on her face, while the ojou-sama Yuuka was showing an expression of anger and hostility on her face. Neru could tell that there was a major problem forming between the, believed to be, perfect pair.

“Risa, we may have to postpone our yakiniku outing,” Neru declared to Risa.

Risa turned towards Neru with a horrified expression, “What?!”

@Shinoki: Yay for cute RisaNeru! You will have to wait until the next part to find out more about YuukaNen. :(

@Minami-chan: Glad to hear you like it. I will continue it when I have the time. :( I don't know about Neru's state of fatigue. Maybe it's normal for her or maybe it's not. Even I don't know.

@Miniju: Super cute. :) But unfortunately you will have to wait longer for the next update. :(

A/N: Hello everyone!
Unfortunately, I will be busy for the next 2 or so weeks, so I won't be able to update the RisaNeru multi parter I just started, but I can still write shorts. :)
So this time I am back with an OdaPon short.
I am not sure if I will make this into a mini trilogy or not, but there are plans.
Hopefully, someone will notice what this is based on.
Special thank you to the person who gave me the idea of writing this. :)
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

I Am Not A Stalker I Swear [OdaPon]

Kobayashi Yui, also known as Yuipon, is just so cute. I could just stare at her all class if I wanted to. She is the perfect human being. It was as if an angel had descended down from the heavens. She blesses us with her mere presence. There are no flaws in this girl.

Ah! I should probably introduce myself. My name is Oda Nana, but everyone just calls me ‘Dani’. It was a nickname given to me by my parents: Shida Manaka and Watanabe Risa. I cannot really say that my parents are exactly normal. After all, the way they met was not exactly ordinary.

When I was 11 years old, my mother told me about how my parents met. It turns out that my mother happened to have met my father on the subway and basically became a stalker after that. My father, being as observant as ever, quickly picked up on my mother’s stalker tendencies. Much to my surprise, it was my father who made the first move and not my mother. It kind of made sense now that I am 17 years old and have observed my parents’ interactions for the past 6 years.

I was disinterested in the story when I was 11 years old. The main reason being that my parents put in way too much extra information that my 11-year-old ears did not want to hear. However, I became obsessed with the story a few years later. I even let my parents tell me about all the intimate things they did together.

It was embarrassing at first to hear my parent explain everything in explicit detail, but I got used to hearing my parents talk about it. Honestly, that story is probably what corrupted me. People have called me a stalker in the past. I think I get it from my mother, and I get my rashness from my father.

Anyways, back to the main story. I run a personal blog called ‘Pon Inspection’. My blog posts are of pictures of Yuipon that I take in secret with a caption attached to them. I made this blog to show my admiration for Yuipon and as a joke. But it garnered massive support, and I have continued posting to the blog with passion.

I think some of my other classmates have caught on to my blog. Yonetani Minami came up to me one day and asked me about the blog. I shooed her away, but I think she knows. It does not matter though. So long as Yuipon does not find out about the blog, I will be fine.

Although, Yuipon has been very cautious around me recently. Every time we make eye contact in the hallway, as of late, she looks down and scurries away before I get the chance to say anything. It is as if she has been avoiding me recently every chance that she gets. I hope no one has tipped her off about my blog.

The only chance that I get to look at her recently has been during class. She cannot run away from me in the middle of class. I have been able to sneak in a few pictures for my blog, but they are not anything spectacular. Maybe I should just try to confront her. Hmm… But that might be a bad idea.

Oh crap! Yuipon looked behind her and caught me staring at her. What should I do now? If I just act natural she will not notice anything unusual. I give her a smile, but she turned around in response. How sad, but I swear I saw her blush right before she turned around. I must be imagining things, but if I am not, it was so cute. I should consider writing a blog post on it.

Ahhh! Yuipon just dropped her pencil. Oh my god! The way she picks up her pencil is just so perfect. I need to take a picture of this. Maybe I should caption it with ‘Yuipon majestically picking up her pencil’. It has a nice ring to it.

Oh yeah! I guess I should probably explain where this story all began. The day it all started is etched into my brain. Not only because it was the first time I ever saw Yuipon, but it is also because it was the day my innate stalker spirit came to full light. I still blame my mother for that.

Anyways, it was the first day of my high school career. All the first years, myself included, sat in the gymnasium like most first years would. I was not really interested in the ceremony, but then the first-year representative stepped up to the podium. Oh-my-god! It was like an angel had descended on that gymnasium.

Yuipon was standing in front of the podium in all her perfectness. I just could not believe my eyes. How could such a perfect person exist? Oddly enough, my cell phone was already in my hand. Fortunately for me, I was sitting in the back of the gymnasium because I unconsciously took a picture of Yuipon. That picture was used for my first blog post.

Wait a minute… Where did everyone go? Why am I sitting in the classroom alone? Oh crap! Class ended while I was explaining the origins of this story. I need to hurry up and catch up to Yuipon!

Ever since I first laid my eyes on Yuipon, I have been following her home almost every single day. And before you ask, I only do it, so I can protect her from harm. This world is very dangerous you know.

There have been a few times in the past where some boys tried to pick up Yuipon. Oh boy was I furious. It was obvious that Yuipon was not interested. Why would she be? Anyways, the first time, those boys were so persistent that I had to take matters into my own hands.

At that time, I walked up to the boy grabbing Yuipon’s wrist and punched him in the stomach. I am not naturally a strong person, but I guess my strength increased when I saw those boys bother Yuipon. The boy I punch quickly got on to his feet and fled after seeing me about to punch him again.

That was the first time I ever interacted with Yuipon. She thanked me in a quiet voice and quickly ran off. I made sure to take a picture as she left. My second blog post.

Fortunately, today's walk home was very tranquil. No one bothered Yuipon, and I did not have to beat up any boys. It was a perfect day, I would say. Just another day of Yuipon not knowing that I am protecting her from the shadows.

Literally, I followed her home in the shadows. I was currently standing behind a light post near Yuipon’s house. It was my duty to make sure that she entered her house safely. Only then could I leave.

“I guess I will go home and update my blog,” I said aloud as I turned around to walk home. Obviously, I left after Yuipon walked into her house.

Unbeknownst to me, a figure appeared from behind the light post adjacent to the one that I was hiding behind after I left.

“Dani~~~”

A/N: Just in case some people don't know, it was @Shinoki who suggested this a while back. Thanks again @Shinoki. :)

A/N: Hello everyone!
It has been a while since I posted anything.
I have been busy as of late, so I don't have that much time to write anything.
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

Our Confessions Were Unromantic, Weren’t They? [TechiPippi]

Two girls were walking together around the local mall. They had no destination in mind and were just wandering mindlessly. The girls were having an outing with each other as their other friends were too busy with other obligations to join them. There was an awkward silence between the both of them.

All around them were couples walking around while holding each other’s hands. The younger of the two girls was envious of the couples around them. She wanted to hold the older girl’s hand in her own hand, but she could not. After all, they were only friends.

I should take advantage of this opportunity,” the younger girl, Hirate Yurina, thought to herself.

“Um… Manaka, is there anything that you want to do?” Yurina asked the older girl.

“Hm… Not really. Is there anything that you want to do?” the older girl, Shida Manaka, replied.

“Not really,” Yurina replied.

“Okay, I guess we can just continue walking around then,” Manaka declared.

“Un,” Yurina nodded slightly.

The two of them continued their aimless wandering. Yurina’s heart was beating faster than normal. She was conscious of the small gap between her and Manaka. All she wanted to do was grab Manaka’s hand, but she controlled herself from doing so.

Why don't I have the guts like Akane does? She would’ve taken Yuuka’s hand if they were in this kind of situation,” Yurina thought to herself as she internally let out a sigh.

Even though there was an age gap between Yurina and Manaka, the both of them ended up becoming friends. Yurina met Manaka through her childhood friend: Nagahama Neru. Manaka and Neru became friends through school. Neru indirectly introduced Yurina to Manaka through a friendly gathering of her friends for her birthday one year.

Manaka and Yurina ended up alone at Neru’s birthday party. They naturally gravitated towards each other when they noticed that the other was all alone. The two of them hit it off once they began speaking. Although they did not have much in common, they both enjoyed the other’s company.

They traded LINEs before the end of the party and have met each other countless times thereafter through outings between Neru’s group of friends. Yurina gravitated towards Manaka’s side whenever they were out on any outings. She naturally developed feelings for Manaka over time. Yurina has kept her feelings for Manaka a secret because she was unsure of how the older girl felt about her.

Today’s outing was actually Manaka’s idea. Although she intended for Neru and some of their other friends to join them, it ended up just being the two of them. Yurina could not have been any happier when she found out that it would only be the two of them. She could not contain her excitement and ended up getting only a few hours of sleep.

This outing was the first time that they have ever been alone together ever since they met. Yurina wanted this day to go perfectly, but the dark bags under her eyes made it look like she was disinterested in the outing. She cursed herself in the morning, before meeting up with Manaka, for her current condition. Even without the dark bags under her eyes, Yurina forgot one thing: a plan.

The two girls were used to having someone lead them around when they went on outings. They forgot that it was only the two of them on the outing which was what led to the current situation. Yurina became lost in her thoughts as she tried to conjure a plan as quickly as possible. A few ideas popped into Yurina’s head when she thought of things that she wanted to do with Manaka.

“Ne, Manaka, do you want to wat---” Yurina began to say before turning her head towards Manaka. Much to Yurina’s surprise, Manaka was nowhere to be seen. Yurina began to look around for her lost companion.

Manaka was standing outside of a jewellery store. She was staring through the store window at a ring sitting on a pedestal for display. The ring was nothing extravagant, but it resonated with Manaka. The ring band was made of 18k gold. A sapphire adorned the ring as the centre stone. A piece of emerald and garnet were embedded into the centre stone to form the image of a zelkova tree.

This ring is really nice. It would be even nicer… if she got this ring… for me, but that won’t happen. Ahhh! What am I doing with this opportunity? We haven’t been alone together since we first met, but all we are doing is walking around this mall,” Manaka thought to herself as she stared at the ring. She became engrossed in her thoughts after wishing for a specific person to buy the ring for her.

“Manaka! This is where you were!” Yurina yelled as she walked up to Manaka outside of the jewellery store.

“Hey Techi, what’s up?” Manaka casually asked Yurina as she shifted her focus away from the ring.

“Don’t ‘what’s up’ me. You suddenly disappeared. I turned around and you were nowhere to be seen. It took me forever to find out,” Yurina replied with a pout.

Pouting doesn’t fit with Techi’s character, but it is still really cute,” Manaka thought to herself.

“Anyways, I know what we could do,” Yurina said.

“What?” Manaka asked with a bored expression on her face.

“Let’s go watch a movie!” Yurina revealed with an excited tone of voice.

“Fine,” Manaka replied.

With a plan in mind, the two girls began to walk in the direction of their destination. The whole walk was silent as neither of them spoke a word. Yurina was still too conscious of the distance between Manaka and her which caused her to be unable to speak a word. Manaka, on the other hand, was lost in her thoughts and did not notice that there was silence between the two of them.

The two of them eventually arrived at the cinema. Manaka purchased the tickets for the both of them, leaving out the fact to Yurina that they were going to watch a horror movie. She knew very well that Yurina was scared to watch horror movies as the girl was easily frightened. Manaka wanted to take full advantage of that fact.

The both of them entered the lobby before splitting up. Yurina went to buy popcorn and drinks for the both of them at the concession stand, while Manaka went to look for the theater room that was showing their movie. Yurina was forced to wait in line at the concession stand, while Manaka easily found the theater room.

Once Yurina was finally able to purchase popcorn and drinks from the concession stand, she looked around for Manaka. She found the girl standing not too far away from the entrance of the lobby. The girl looked lost in thought when Yurina walked up to Manaka. Yurina broke Manaka out of her thoughts by giving her a bag of popcorn and drink before the both of them walked into the theater room. Unfortunately for Yurina, she did not look at the sign that was located above the doors to realize what movie they were going to watch.

“Ne Manaka, what movie are we watching?” Yurina asked Manaka as the both of them found seats.

“It’s a surprise. Just wait and see,” Manaka replied with a grin on her face.

“Whatever you say,” Yurina said with suspicion.

The lights in the theater began to dim down as the movie started. Yurina was enjoying her popcorn as the opening scene of the movie looked normal. A group of friends were having a great time while camping. Nothing looked out of the normal to Yurina. She was relieved that it was not a horror movie.

It only took 10 minutes before Yurina realized that she was wrong about the movie. On screen was the mangled body of one of the friends. Yurina unconsciously grabbed and tightened her grip around Manaka’s hand. She knew at that moment that she was not going to enjoy the rest of the movie.

Manaka was surprised by the sudden touch of a foreign person until she realized it was Yurina’s hand. She looked over at Yurina who had a terrified expression on her face. Manaka smiled as she felt like she was the only one who could see a different side of the normally expressionless girl. She squeezed Yurina’s hand as she continued to watch the movie, while Yurina was too terrified to even notice Manaka’s action.

A few minutes later, Manaka suddenly felt arms wrapping around her body as she heard a scream coming from next to her. She looked down at her shoulder to see Yurina’s head buried in her shoulder. The girl was obviously frightened, but all Manaka could do was smile. It was not a sadistic smile, but it was a smile of happiness.

Manaka wanted the both of them to be closer, but, being that she has a cool personality, it was not something easy for her to do. Their current position was the closest the two of them have ever gotten to each other since they first met. The closest they have gotten before this was accidentally touching hands when they reached both for something. Manaka was enjoying every moment of this, but she felt guilty about scaring the younger girl.

Yurina was so scared by the movie that she did not realize that she was burying her face into Manaka’s shoulder. It took a few minutes of being in the position before Yurina realized what she was doing. She was momentarily embarrassed before a smile formed on her face. This was Yurina’s first time being this close to Manaka. She was not normally bold enough to link arms with Manaka, so she was enjoying every moment of her reaction to the movie.

The movie ended with Yurina still having her head buried in Manaka’s shoulder. Although Yurina was able to calm down part way through the movie, she quickly returned to Manaka’s shoulder where she stayed for the remainder of the movie. Neither of them had any complaints about the position, but neither of them wanted to say anything about it. The both of them returned to their normal expressions once they exited the theater room and returned to the lobby.

“Um… Sorry about what happened earlier. I’m not good with horror movies,” Yurina said shyly.

“Don’t worry about it. I didn’t realize what kind of movie we were watching when I bought the tickets,” Manaka responded as she made up an excuse.

The two girls threw out the remainder of their popcorn and drinks as they walked out of the cinema. They began to walk down the street and continued on their earlier aimless wandering. Yurina tried to think of some ideas of activities that they could do, but she ran out of ideas. It was Manaka who suddenly came up with an idea.

“Techi, do you want to go eat dinner? I want to apologize for earlier, so I will pay for you,” Manaka asked.

Yurina pondered on the idea for a moment before nodding her head, “Sure, that sounds like a good idea.”

The two of them began to discuss what they were going to eat as they continued to walk down the street. Neither of them had an appetite for anything specific at the moment, and neither of them wanted to choose for the other. They ended up playing a few rounds of janken to decide who would decide for them, but they ended in a draw after 20 rounds. In the end, they both decided that going to eat ramen was the quickest dinner option they could think of.

The girls’ changed directions as they found a ramen shop in the opposite direction of where they were heading on their phones. They discussed their favourite type of ramen as they happily continued on their new path. Their path was halted as they arrived at an intersection right before the ramen shop. There was no one waiting with them to cross the intersection.

Manaka and Yurina waited for the red hand to turn into a green person before being able to cross the intersection. They both looked in both directions and began to cross the crosswalk once they were certain it was safe to proceed. Yurina was slightly quicker than Manaka and stepped out into the crosswalk before Manaka did. Manaka was only one step behind Yurina.

Manaka suddenly saw a car’s headlight in her peripheral vision because she was one step behind Yurina. She turned to look at the car that was only 25 metres away from her and Yurina. Manaka’s expression instantly changed when she realized that the car was not slowing down. Making a quick decision, Manaka lunged at Yurina and pushed her out of the way. She replaced Yurina as the centre and reduced the impact area of the other girl.

“Techi!!!” Manaka yelled as she pushed Yurina out of the way of the oncoming car.

Manaka and Yurina were sent flying across the concrete as the car hit the both of them. Yurina was sent a short distance away from the crosswalk, while Manaka was sent a significantly further distance away than Yurina. Their bodies laid motionless as the impact had rendered both of them unconscious. However, Yurina was able to recover her consciousness momentarily.

Yurina opened her eyes slightly and looked at the scene around her. She was dazed and confused as she lied on the cold concrete, but her eyes shot open in shock upon processing the scene in front of her. Yurina’s heart wrenched and tears threatened to fall from her eyes upon seeing Manaka’s body lying motionlessly on the cold concrete a few metres away from her. Yurina felt frustrated as she felt her body not responding to her commands. She was only able to muster enough strength to reach her hand out towards Manaka.

“Manaka!!!” Yurina yelled before once again losing consciousness.

---***---

Yurina opened her eyes to a blurry vision. Her eyes refocused and she made out the details of a white ceiling above her. The beeping sounds of medical devices entered her ears as her senses began to pick up the environment around her one item at a time.

Yurina felt the warmth of a blanket covering her body as she realized she was lying in a bed. She tried to sit up, but her body collapsed as her strength suddenly vanished. It was only at that moment did she realize that there were tubes connected to her arm.

Yurina tried to remember the events that led up to her current situation, but a throbbing headache prevented her from doing so. She had a feeling that it was something important, but the pain consumed her mind. A loud sound filled the room as a door was wildly pushed open, relieving Yurina temporarily from her pain.

“Yurina-chan!!!” Neru yelled as she ran into the room. She jumped at the girl which caused her to collapse backwards onto the bed under the sudden action of her friend.

Watanabe Risa walked in a moment after. She was sighing at her girlfriend’s action. It only lasted momentarily as her expression became worried as she saw Yurina’s condition.

“How are you feeling?” Risa asked in her calm voice.

Yurina struggled to speak, “I-I… don't… know… It hurts… everywhere… Help… me…” she felt the air getting squeezed out of her as Neru refused to let go of Yurina.

Risa shook her head as she approached the bed, “Neru, get-off-of-Techi!!!” she yelled as she yanked Neru off of Yurina.

Yurina took in a deep breath of air after being saved by Risa, “Thanks Risa.”

“No problem, this idiot can be overbearing sometimes,” Risa replied with her poison tongue.

Neru patted Risa’s head, “Awww, don't be jealous, Risa. I will give you more attention later.”

Risa swatted Neru’s hand away from her head, “I’m not jealous!” she yelled as her cheeks became slightly red.

Neru giggled momentarily before facing Yurina with a serious expression, “Yurina-chan, do you remember what happened?”

Yurina shook her head, “I can't remember… It hurts when I try to remember.”

“Nothing at all?” Neru asked.

Yurina thought for a moment, “Well… I was out on an outing… Went to watch a movie… Was crossing the street when…” she suddenly remembered, “MANAKA! Where is she?! Is she okay?!”

Neru looked at Risa, receiving a nod from the girl, and turned back to Yurina, “She is still alive…”

Yurina let out a sigh of relief, “That’s good to hear.”

“But…” Neru paused, unsure of how to proceed.

Yurina looked at Neru with a confused expression, “‘But’, what?” she paused to wait for a response but received a silent response, “Neru, tell me, what happened to Manaka.”

Risa spoke up, “It is probably best for you to see for yourself.”

Risa and Neru helped Yurina into a wheelchair when a nurse passed by the room. The nurse made sure that all the medical equipment that Yurina required was secured to the wheelchair before allowing the trio to leave the room. Neru walked behind the wheelchair and pushed it along, while Risa followed behind them.

The walk was silent. The air around the trio was dreaded. Yurina could feel that Risa and Neru were hiding something from her. She wanted to pry the information out of them, but she was scared of what she was going to find out. She felt uneasy about the situation, but it was probably better for her to find out with her own eyes.

The trio walked through countless hallways and passed by countless signs indicating which wing of the hospital they were in. Starting from Yurina’s room, they would have been forced to walk through the more severe units of the hospital, but they were able to avoid them by taking a longer route. They eventually passed by one final door and sign before the lights became dimmed.

Intensive care unit…” Yurina read to herself as they passed the sign.

Yurina’s heart sank when she read the sign. Her thoughts were in denial as she tried to reason with herself about what happened to Manaka. The most dire possibilities were what Yurina wanted to avoid thinking about. She convinced herself that it was just a lie. It must have been some simple mistake.

The squeaky wheels of the wheelchair echoed in the hallway as not a single soul outside of the trio were present. They walked for a long time. Every step that was taken and every squeak that was made caused Yurina to feel uneasy about the situation.

Why are we going so far? Manaka, where are you? Please be okay...” Yurina pleaded in her thoughts.

Neru suddenly brought the wheelchair to a stop, “We have arrived…” she turned around to avoid looking through the glass window of the room in front of them, “Manaka is there…”

Yurina turned her head to look through the glass window. Her eyes opened wide in shock as she felt her heart shatter into a million pieces. The world around her felt like it had stopped. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes.

Manaka was lying in a bed with several medical devices attached to different parts of her body. She was unconscious, but the fog that formed in the breathing mask attached to her mouth indicated that she was still alive. The familiar vitals machine stood beside the bed, monitoring Manaka’s health.

Yurina suddenly lunged towards Manaka, knocking over her wheelchair and surprising Risa and Neru. The glass window separates her from Manaka. All Yurina could do was watch as Manaka lied unconscious. Tears began to fall from her eyes as she loathed that she could do nothing to help the girl that she loved.

“Manaka!!!” Yurina suddenly yelled.

---***---

A week had passed by since Yurina was admitted to the hospital. She was released after the doctors deemed that she had recovered enough to be released. The doctors told her that she would require frequent checkups for the next month to monitor her health. Yurina was happy that she was released, but at the same time, a part of her remained depressed.

Manaka still had not woken up when Yurina was released from the hospital. Her condition was stable, and the doctors said that there was a low chance that her health would deteriorate. But that did not keep Yurina from being depressed.

Yurina’s mental state was obvious to those around her. The friends she had at school and her teachers were worried for her. They tried to cheer Yurina up, but she rejected them coldly. Her heart was in a dark place.

Yurina’s heart felt heavy when she walked into the hospital for a checkup. Her feet felt heavy as she forced herself to drag her feet forward. Every step sent a needle into Yurina’s heart as she headed to the intensive care unit before her checkup.

Risa and Neru were already waiting in the hallway when Yurina arrived. The couple were concerned for their friend and came to visit often. The trio greeted each other when they all noticed each other.

An awkward silence filled the air while they stared at Manaka through the glass window. No one wanted to utter a word, especially Yurina. Although Risa and Neru tried to convince her otherwise, Yurina continued to blame herself for Manaka’s condition. She was always hard on herself when things went wrong, and this situation was no exception.

Yurina loathed that she was awake, and Manaka was unconscious. She loathed that she walked while Manka could not. She loathed that she felt this way. But most importantly, she loathed that she was pushed out of the way by Manaka.

“This is all my fault,” Yurina began to say, breaking the awkward silence, “I should be the one lying in that bed; not Manaka,” her head dropped down as she tried to hide the tears that were forming in her eyes.

Risa’s feet appeared in Yurina’s view as she continued to hide her face. Yurina looked up at Risa and was greeted by Risa’s hand slapping her. Yurina and Neru were both surprised by Risa’s sudden action.

“Risa?!” Neru yelled in confusion.

“How dare you?” Risa asked before pausing.

“What do you mean?” Yurina asked in confusion, while she rubbed her cheek that met Risa’s hand.

“How dare you say that?! If Manaka had the choice of going back and changing what happened, she would have still pushed you out of the way!” Risa explained with an angry expression on her face.

“What do you mean?” Yurina asked confused.

“Are you that dense?!” Risa asked mockingly before calming down, “Manaka would do anything to protect the person that she loves. If you still don't understand then I will spell it out for you. Manaka loves you, and she would never regret getting hurt for you.”

Yurina’s eyes opened in shock after hearing Risa’s revelation. She never knew that the one she loved shared the same feelings as her. Her cheeks turned red as everything became clear to her.

Risa’s expression softens once she saw the younger girl’s reaction. Her job was done, but there was still one more push she had to do.

“What are you going to do now?” Risa asked Yurina in a softer tone of voice.

“I need to go see Manaka,” Yurina replied before running off to enter Manaka’s room.

Neru walked closer to Risa and leaned her head on the girl’s shoulder, “I didn't know you cared that much about our friends. It's one of the many reasons I fell in love with you.”

“S-s-shut up,” Risa said as she turned her head with a blush on her face.

Neru giggled, “There, there, tsundere queen,” she teased Risa as she patted the girl on the head.

The door to the room was just around the corner. Yurina took a moment to breathe before putting her hand on the handle. Her hand was shaking, but her resolve to see Manaka made her push down on the handle. Much to her surprise, the door was unlocked.

Yurina closed the door behind her as she entered the room. Her hand was still on the handle as she faced the door. She took deep breaths to calm her nerves. Moments passed before she finally turned around to face Manaka.

Looking at the scene in front of Yurina cause her heart to ache. She fought back tears as she calmly walked over to Manaka’s bedside. She pulled over a chair from the side of the room and sat down.

“Manaka…” Techi softly whispered.

Yurina looked down at Manaka. The fragile state of the girl made Yurina want to cradle the girl in her embrace, but she knew that it would do more harm than good. In the end, she had to settle with holding Manaka’s hand.

Yurina squeezed Manka’s hand slightly. She let out a sigh of relief as she felt warmth in her hand. Her heart became at ease as she knew that the girl was still alive.

“Manaka I am sorry…” Yurina began to say as she hung her head low while still holding on to Manaka’s hand, “You wouldn’t be in this situation if I was paying more attention.”

A tear began to roll down Yurina’s face, “I was so excited when I found out that it would only be the two of us on the outing. It was the first time that we would be alone ever since we first met.”

A stream of tears began to pour out of Yurina’s eyes, “We were so sure that it would be safe to the cross the street. If only I had walked slower; if only I wasn't so distracted by the outing; if only I hadn't hidden my feelings; then maybe this would have never happened. These feelings I have kept hidden for so long. I was scared to tell you about them, but maybe it is time to tell you. What I am trying to say is that I love you Manaka.”

Yurina sobbed lightly as a silence filled the room. All that could be heard in the room was Yurina’s sobbing and the periodic beeping coming from the medical machines. Yurina felt like her confession fell on deaf ears. It made her happy to have finally confessed all of her feelings, but at the same time, she felt disappointed.

Yurina’s sobbing continued until Manaka’s hand suddenly twitched which caused Yurina’s eyes to widen in surprise. Yurina slowly looked up at the bed. She was greeted by Manaka’s eyes half-openly staring at her.

“Hey… there… Techi…” Manaka said in a weak voice as she took breaths in between words which caused her breathing mask to fog up.

“Manaka?” Yurina asked in disbelief before more tears came out of her eyes, “I am so glad you are okay! Never do something so dangerous again! Promise me, okay?”

“I… can’t… promise… anything… because… I-love-you,” Manaka confessed with a blush forming on her cheeks.

Yurina's heart skipped a beat upon hearing Manaka’s confession. Even though she was already aware of the other girl’s feelings, it was blissful to hear the words come directly from the girl. Yurina wiped the tears away from her eyes before her mouth curved up into a smile.

“I wish I knew about your feelings earlier. All of this time, I was so scared to confess my feelings to you. I thought you would have rejected me, and it would have ruined our friendship. But I’m so happy to know that you shared the same feelings,” Yurina confessed.

“Did… Risa… tell… you?” Manaka asked.

Yurina’s eyes widen in surprise, “How did you know?”

Manaka responded by tilting her head to the side. Yurina followed her line of sight and saw Risa and Neru staring at them through the glass window. Neru was forming a heart shape with her hands, while Risa stood beside her with a satisfied look on her face.

Yurina giggled, “I guess she did.”

A silence filled the air as both Yurina and Manaka stared at each other without uttering a word. Neither of them knew what to say to each other. They were both content with just being able to see each other again.

“Manaka? Can you promise me something?” Yurina asked, breaking the silence.

“What… is… it?” Manaka asked.

“Promise me... that we will... always be together after you get out of the hospital,” Yurina stated with red cheeks.

“I… promise,” Manaka replied with a smile that was difficult to see through her breathing mask.

Yurina put out her pinky towards Manaka for them to form a promise. Manaka giggled to herself at the younger girl’s action. She weakly moved her pinky out to reach for Yurina’s pinky, but her arm suddenly dropped to the bed.

The several medical devices in the room suddenly started beeping and flashing red lights. Yurina stood up in surprise and looked over towards the bed. Manaka was clutching towards her chest as she writhed in pain.

A doctor and group of nurses suddenly ran into the room. They began to surround Manaka and pushed Yurina out of the way in the process. The doctor was giving out orders to the nurses while checking Manaka’s condition.

“Patient is going into cardiac arrest! Bring me the defibrillator!” the doctor ordered a nurse.

“Here it is, doctor!” a nurse came running back with a defibrillator.

“Manaka!” Yurina yelled as she tried to walk towards Manaka before being stopped by another nurse.

“Miss, you will need to wait outside,” the nurse said as she pushed Yurina towards the door.

“Clear!” the doctor yelled before applying a shock to Manaka’s body.

“Doctor! Her vitals are dropping!” the nurse monitoring the medical devices yelled.

“I am applying another shock! Clear!” the doctor once again yelled before applying another shock to Manaka’s body.

“Manaka!” Yurina yelled as she tried to resist the nurse who was pushing her out of the room.

“Miss! You have to leave, now!” the nurse yelled as she pushed Yurina harder.

“Doctor! We are losing her!” the monitoring nurse informed the doctor.

“No!” the doctor yelled.

“No… Manaka? Manaka?! Manaka!” Yurina screamed as the beeping from the vital monitor machine became flat.

---***---

Two months had passed since the car accident had occurred. Yurina was sitting down on a bench on the roof of a building. She was looking up at the sky, while the gentle spring breeze brushed against her face.

“I wonder what she is doing right now…” Yurina said while looking at the small box that was in her hand.

The tranquil moment was interrupted when the access door to the roof was suddenly opened. Yurina turned around to look at who had come up to the roof. A smile formed on her face when she recognized who it was.

“Techi… Why did you make me meet you up here? You already know about my condition…” Manaka asked as she rolled her wheelchair towards Yurina. There was a dissatisfied look on Manaka’s face.

“I’m sorry…” Yurina replied. She lowered her head and began to sulk at Manaka’s reaction.

Manaka giggled as her expression softened, “I’m just kidding. I took the elevator up here,” she said as she stopped her wheelchair beside the bench that Yurina was sitting on.

Yurina looked up at Manaka and began to blush. A radiant smile was on Manaka’s face that could have blinded anyone who saw it. Yurina turned away to hide her blushing cheeks from Manaka.

“What did you want to talk to me about?” Manaka asked.

“Ano…” Yurina fiddled with the small box in her hand before turning back towards Manaka, “I wanted to give this to you…” she said as she held the small box out to Manaka.

Manaka accepted the box, “What is in it?”

“Just open it…” Yurina replied shyly.

Manaka removed the lid from the small box. Her eyes widen in surprise when she looked at the object inside of the box. It was the ring that she was looking at two months ago in front of the jewellery store. Manaka took the ring out of the box and placed it on her pinky; it was a perfect fit.

“This is the ring I wanted! How did you know?” Manaka asked as she looked at the ring on her finger.

“You were looking at the ring so intently when I found you outside of the jewellery store. So… I just guessed that you wanted it, so I bought it for you,” Yurina paused momentarily, “It’s also our one-month anniversary…”

Manaka reached over to Yurina and pulled her in for a hug, “Thank you, Yurina! I feel bad now. I don’t have anything to give to you…”

Yurina squirmed in Manaka grip from embarrassment at being hugged, “D-d-don’t worry about it! Can you let go of me?!”

“Ah! Right, sorry about that,” Manaka said as she let go of Yurina.

Yurina coughed while regaining her composure, “Our confessions ended up being really unromantic. I really wanted to confess to you in a different situation. Maybe after a candlelit dinner on the harbour front, but that obviously didn't happen. So, I decided to get this ring for you…” she began to blush again.

Manaka giggled, “I didn’t realize that the infamous emotionless girl could be so romantic.”

“Hey! What’s with that nickname?” Yurina asked with a pout.

“I was just kid---” Manaka began to say before being interrupted by Yurina raising her pinky up in between the two of them.

“Promise…” Yurina mumbled.

“What?” Manaka asked in confusion.

Yurina’s blush deepened, “Promise… that we will… always-be-together-from-now-on,” she quickly said.

A smile formed on Manaka’s face, “Yeah, I promise.”

Manaka linked her pinky with Yurina’s pinky that was in front of her. The both of them smiled at their new-found promise. The ring that was on Manaka’s pinky shone brightly between where their pinkies met.

“We will always be together from now on.”

I died a little bit. This was amazing. I walked in expecting fluff, but like getting hit by a car, well, they got hit by a car. I kind of panicked a little bit, worrying over if those two would be okay. Ahhh, I'm glad that they're okay and together now.

@Shinoki: I was expecting fluff too, but I wanted to write something that wasn't fluff as well. So this is the product of that. I am always happy when the ships stay together. :)

@Miniju: The good news is that Manaka is still alive to make it soft.

@MaYukiIsLife: I think I am slowly going that slippery slope.

A/N: Hello everyone!
I am back with a HabuKoike oneshot.
This was actually a request from a reader.
This ended up being more lighthearted than I expected, but that's writing for you.
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

The Titan and The Penguin [HabuKoike]

There once lived a titan in the Keyaki Forest by the name of Habu Mizuho. Most legends would tell you that titans are gigantic vicious creatures that prey on other smaller creatures, but that is not true at all. Well, it is partially true. Just like any other species, there are titans that do fit the bad description that is painted in legends, but that is not true for Mizuho.

Mizuho was a kind spirit who could do no harm to the other creatures of the forest. But, the other creatures did not see it that way. They were scared of Mizuho for her appearance and would run away when they saw her. Mizuho felt hurt by this and lived on her own in a secluded part of the forest, away from the other creatures.

One day, Mizuho was collecting wood for her home. She crouched down to pick up a tree branch, but a drop of water landed on the branch. More droplet fell until Mizuho realized that she was crying.

“Why do all the other creatures hate me?” Mizuho wondered as she sobbed.

Mizuho sat down on the ground and hugged her knees, while she continued to cry with her head down. She felt lonely and unwanted. No one showed her love, not even her parents. To be exact, she did not know who her parents were.

The furthest that Mizuho could remember was when she woke up in the forest alone as a child. She did not know how she arrived in the forest, but fate must have brought her there. She had been alone ever since she woke up in the forest.

“Why are you crying?” a voice suddenly asked.

Mizuho looked up to see a penguin standing in front of her, “Go away. Aren't you afraid of me?” she looked back down to continue crying.

“Why would I be scared of you?” the penguin asked.

“Because I am a scary bad titian. If you know what's good for you then you will leave me alone,” Mizuho replied.

“But I’m not afraid. I know you won't hurt me,” the penguin stated.

Mizuho was surprised by what the penguin had said. It was the first time someone did not run away upon seeing her.

“How do you know that? Haven't you heard of the legends?” Mizuho asked to confirm her suspicions.

“I have heard them before, but I know you are different. I pass by this place pretty often. I have seen how kind you can be,” the penguin replied.

Mizuho looked up at the penguin, “You are the first creature to have ever said that to me. You aren't like the other creatures who inhabit this forest. What is your name?”

“It’s Koike Minami, you?” the penguin replied with a smile.

Mizuho smiled, “I’m Habu Mizuho.”

“It’s nice to meet you Mizuho. Let's be friends,” Minami said as she put out her flipper for Mizuho to shake.

“That would be nice,” Mizuho said as she shook Minami’s flipper.

---***---

“And that, Aoi, is how your father and I met,” Minami said to Harada Aoi, her daughter, to finish the story.

“Ehhh? That's it? So boring~~~” Aoi whined.

Mizuho walked in to the room, “Honey, there’s more to the story than that.”

---***---

Ever since the day they met, Mizuho and Minami were inseparable. They always did everything together. The two of them became close friends.

Mizuho found out that Minami shared a similar backstory as her. It was a tragic tale of betrayal within the colony that Minami came from. She was the only survivor of the tragedy and has been alone ever since.

Minami was happy that she was finally able to find someone that she could trust. Mizuho swore to herself that she would protect her from harm. Minami probably did not know this, but Mizuho had developed feelings for the penguin.

The two of them lived life peacefully until tragedy befell them one day. Minami had moved in with Mizuho, so it was a surprise to the titan that her penguin friend was nowhere to be seen when she woke up one morning. Naturally, Mizuho began to panic.

Mizuho began to frantically search the surrounding area. She feared for the safety of her only friend. She almost fell into despair until she heard two creatures nearby. She hid herself to listen into their conversation.

“Did you hear about the latest capture? I heard it was the penguin that has been sighted being friendly with that titan,” one of the creatures said.

“Yeah, I heard about that. I am surprised that the titan didn't eat the penguin already,” the other creature commented as they laughed.

The blood running through Mizuho’s body started to boil. She could not believe what she had just heard. She tried to calm herself down, but the rage flowing through her blew up.

“How. Dare. Those. CREATURES!!!” Mizuho yelled as she let out a scream.

Mizuho began to run towards the creatures’ city at the centre of the forest. It consisted of multiple walls to separate the city into smaller zones. They were massively high as if built to protect against titans.

Mizuho ran straight into the outer wall of the city which sent a shockwave across the area. A massive crack formed in the wall, but it did not cause the wall to collapse. Mizuho began to climb the wall. As she reached the top of the wall, music began to pla---

---***---

“Mizuho! Don’t bring your anime stuff into the story!” Minami yelled as she pouted.

“My bad,” Mizuho replied with a hand behind her head.

“That,” Aoi began to say, “Was. So. Cool! Do you have any other stories, daddy?”

Mizuho pondered for a second, “Are there any stories you want to hear about?” she asked.

“Hmm…” Aoi thought for a moment before an innocent smile formed on her face, “How did you and mommy make me?” Aoi asked.

Minami’s face became completely red when she heard Aoi’s question. Mizuho giggled at her wife’s reaction and placed a hand on Aoi's shoulder.

“That's a story for another day.”

A/N: Hello everyone!
I am slowly getting around to finishing up stories that I have started.
Just a note that this is a trilogy where each part is from a perspective of someone else.
So starting with part 1: Oda Nana, Suzumoto Miyu, and Kobayashi Yui.
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

I Am Not A Stalker I Swear - Part 2 [OdaPon]

“Dani~~~ Dani~~~ Dani~~~” I rhymed as I ran up to Oda Nana whose nickname is Dani.

Dani was reading a book at her desk with her glasses on. She looks so sophisticated when she wears her glasses. I really like that about her. There are quite a number of things that I really like about Dani, but I will not bore you with that.

Dani did not respond to me when I ran up to her, so I decided to do what I usually do. I sat on Dani’s lap, facing her, while pushing her book closer to her. It was my surefire way of getting Dani to respond to me.

Dani sighed, “What do you want Suzumoto Miyu?”

I pouted, “You don’t have to be so distant. Calling me by my full name is not allowed.”

Dani rolled her eyes, “I am trying to read here. Do you mind?”

“Can’t you just read with me here?” I asked.

Dani rolled her eyes while sighing, “Fine, do whatever you want. Just don't get in the way of my reading.”

“Okay~~~” I hummed happily.

I really like being near Dani. Even if she acts cold to me, so long as she does not push me away, I will be happy. That is just one of the many things I like about Dani; she will not push me away even if I am being really annoying.

This may be weird, but there is only one thing that makes me love Dani. I love Dani because she follows Kobayashi Yui, who everyone calls Yuipon, around. You may think it is weird that I only love Dani because she loves another girl, but something about that is a part of what attracts me to Dani.

“Miyu, class is starting,” Dani said as she interrupted my train of thought.

I looked at my watch, “Ah! It is! Time for me to leave~~~”

I got up from Dani’s lap and walked over to my desk. The teacher walked in a moment later and started the class. It was so boring in class, but I at least get to see Dani be infatuated with Yuipon; I love it.

It is so obvious that Dani is staring at Yuipon. She does not even try to hide the fact. I wish she stared at me like that, but I guess that is why I stare at her like that.

Both of our loves are unrequited; at least I think they are. Yuipon usually runs away when she sees Dani walking towards her. It is kind of sad, but it is entertaining to watch from the side.

Oh? Yuipon caught Dani redhandedly staring at her. Dani is in so much trouble now~~~ Maybe Yuipon will give her the cold shoulder and then Dani can finally realize how much I love her. I can only hope so anyways.

Ehhh?! Yuipon turned around while… blushing? Wha-a-a-at does this mean? I can still clearly see the side of Yuipon’s face. She is definitely still blushing. Please do not mean what I think it does. Oh kami! If you are listening to me, please tell me that this is all just a figment of my imagination.

I could not focus on the rest of the class. How could I? Yuipon had been blushing ever since making eye contact with Dani. I was getting kind of worried about what it all meant.

The end of class and the end of the day eventually arrived. I stood up to begin my daily routine home. Yuipon probably does not know this, but Dani follows her home every day. How do I know this? It is because I follow Dani home too.

I got up to leave, but I noticed that Dani was lost in thought. A minute passed before I decided to walk up to Dani. Just as I was about to tap on Dani’s shoulder, she suddenly stood up and quickly left the room. I quickly followed behind her.

Most of our trips home were very quiet: Yuipon got home safe, Yuipon did not notice Dani following her, Dani did not notice me following her, and Dani did not have to beat up anyone. You did not hear me wrong; Dani has actually beaten up some people while following Yuipon.

I still remember the first time it happened. This was before I started to love Dani. I just happened to have been walking by when it happened. Yuipon was being harassed by some boys. I was going to fake yell that the cops were coming, but Dani reacted before I could.

Dani walked straight at the boy grabbing Yuipon’s wrist and punched him in the stomach. The sight was magnificent. The boy fell over but quickly stood back up. His expression turned to horror before he ran off. It was probably because Dani was about to punch him again.

It was because of that event that I came to love Dani. At first it was only admiration, but it slowly became what it is now: my distorted version of love. I still do not know why, and I will say it again, but I only love the Dani that follows Yuipon around. Again, do not ask why.

I still do not know how Yuipon has not noticed Dani following her home. Dani was very bad at hiding behind objects. She made it quite obvious that there was someone behind the objects she hid behind. It was unlike me who hid perfectly in the shadows from Dani’s eyes.

The end of Dani’s trip was when Yuipon walked into her house. Dani always waited behind this one specific light post as she waited. I always waited behind an adjacent post.

“I guess I will go home and update my blog,” I heard Dani said aloud before she turned around to leave.

A smile formed on my face as Dani was leaving. It was finally my turn to begin my trip. I walked out from the shadows of the light post before staring momentarily at Dani’s fleeing figure.

“Dani~~~”

@Shinoki: Too adorable for me.

A/N: Hello everyone!
This is a long overdue update that I meant to do earlier, but some things happened.
As always, thank you for any comments. Enjoy!

I Am Not A Stalker I Swear - Part 3 (Finale) [OdaPon]

I, Kobayashi Yui, have something embarrassing to say: I have a crush on Oda Nana. Everyone calls Oda Nana by her nickname, Dani, but I prefer to call her by her full name. Just to make this easier, I shall refer to her by her nickname.

Dani started out just like any other classmate of mine: someone I only talked to if I had to. I was not a very talkative person, so I tended to shy away from interacting with my classmates. I have a few close friends, but they were all in different classes, so I was alone for most of the school day.

The first time I actually noticed Dani was at the first-year opening ceremony. I was the representative for the first-year students, so I had to give a speech. I saw a reflection during the middle of my speech and was barely able to make out Dani as the source of the reflection. I simply brushed it off as her looking at a pocket mirror.

It was roughly three months after the ceremony that I would have my first interaction with Dani. To be honest, I completely forgot that she was in my class. I was always reading a book at my desk, so I barely knew anyone in the class. Anyways, my first interaction with Dani happened when I was walking home.

A group of three boys approached me while I was walking down the street towards my house. One of the boys grabbed my wrist and started saying something. I was so scared that I could not hear what he was saying. I wanted to scream for help, but my voice did not come out of my mouth. That was when she suddenly showed up.

Dani came to my rescue and punched the boy who was holding my wrist in the stomach. The boy fell over and Dani was already preparing to punch the boy again. He got back up to his feet and ran off with his friends once he saw Dani’s fist about to hit him again.

I was so dumbstruck by what had just happened. A minute went by before I was able to process what had just happened. A quiet ‘thank you’ came out of my mouth before I quickly ran off.

I was utterly confused about what I was feeling at that moment. My heart was racing, and my cheeks were red. It was like a knight in shining armour came to my rescue and I fell in love with him. Except in this case it was a her instead of a him.

Ever since that day, I tried to avoid Dani at all cost. My heart raced every time I just looked at her. My feelings became confusing every time I thought about Dani. It was obvious that I had fallen in love with Dani. I wanted to confess to Dani, but at the same time I just wanted to keep things as it is.

It felt safer to keep things as it is. It was probably because I had noticed Suzumoto Miyu’s feelings towards Dani. I was scared about what would happen if I confessed my feelings to Dani and Miyu found out about it. Those two are actually very similar but in a bad way.

Anyways, I have been having problems lately with controlling my feelings whenever I see Dani. I have resorted to just dashing off whenever we make eye contact. The only place I could not avoid her was in the classroom.

I was well aware that Dani always stared at me during class. I was also aware of her feelings towards me. Dani was not exactly secretive about hiding her feelings for me. It made me happy that we both shared the same feelings, but, like I said, I was not ready to confess my feelings yet.

It was in the middle of afternoon classes when I felt someone staring at me. I wanted to confirm if it was Dani or not, so I turned around to look. Unsurprisingly, Dani was staring intently at me. I quickly turned around with a deep blush on my cheeks that lasted until the end of class.

The end of the class also signalled the end of the day. I got up from my seat and walked out of the classroom. I then started my trip home with my usual companion: Dani the stalker. You may be wondering how I was not creeped out by Dani following me home. It is very simple actually: I felt safer when Dani was protecting me from the “shadows”.

Dani was terrible at this “stalker” thing. I noticed her following me home the day after she saved me. She was trying to hide behind a light post; but she was leaning too far outward, so I saw her right away. I giggled at her clumsiness at that time.

Dani may be a terrible stalker, but she was very good at protecting me. There have been a few other incidents that occurred since she first rescued me, and Dani has saved me every time. It just made me fall more in love with her, but it was better if she did not know about that.

After I made it a few blocks away from the school, I checked behind me to see if Dani was following me. Much to my surprise, she was nowhere to be seen. It was very odd for her to not be following me by now. She was only absent from following me when she was absent from school.

“I hope she’s okay,” I thought aloud before continuing my walk home.

I eventually reached my house and stopped right in front of the front gate. I looked around and saw Dani in the distance. A smile formed on my face as I turned around to enter my house. The front door closed behind me as I made my way up to my room.

I entered my room and closed the door behind me. I then placed my bag down while loosening the tie around my neck. It was a long day of yet again avoiding Dani and another safe walk home. All I wanted to do was lie down and fall asleep. I jumped onto my bed, and my eyes instantly felt heavy. One last thought came out of my mouth before I closed my eyes.

“If only she stopped writing that blog.”
