Dude, you gotta watch the women's figure skating. It's upskirt shots just WAITING to happen!
-
i aint watching any of it. well maybe a bit to see if miki is dressed all sexy.
-
I'm a big fan of both the mikitties, so go MIKI!!!!!!
(though she'd probably have to get a PB to get even a bronze medal...)
Slutskaya is still the one to beat....
Looking forward to the Skeleton events as well, that's a fuckin crazy sport.
-
I guess I watch some hockey and ski jumping.
-
I'm looking forward to all the figure skating events, as well as curling... Curling is awesome
-
Flyp sounds like a Canadian.
I'm gonna check out the hockey, figure skating, speed skating, curling, moguls, bobsledding, and that's about it. Watching curling in other languages (especially if you're drunk) is the funniest shit in the world. Works better if you know how the game works.
-
Lol, I totally forgot about the winter olympics I love it though, much better than normal olympics. The ports are all cool 8)
-
i'm looking forward to speedskating, figure skating, cross country skiing...
-
Damn, the opening ceremonies have started already and I forgot to set my VCR to tape it. :( :( :(
-
It's been BEAUTIFUL. Nice job, Italians :D

man, the opening ceremonies SUCKED! Well, I missed the first part. watched where the athletes came out. and NBC's coverage was pretty biased. What up wit Yoko Ono? Susan FREAKIN SArandon? A ferrari doing donuts?? At least they dragged out Pavarotti's fat ass at the end.
And hey! There was a Thai cross country skiier! WTF?

those medals are different--cool
-
Apparently, I was mistaken when I initially proclaimed that snowflake design to be the design of the Olympic medals.
Found this site/blog that shows something different. I also saw one of the medals ceremonies on TV, and the ones they showed looked like this one and not like the snowflake one.

Cool, we have lots of fun when 2010 comes to our Vancouver and Whistler. It would definitely put Vancouver, Canada on the map and keep it there.

Kwan drops out of Turin Olympics with groin injury; Hughes named as replacement
:( I was hoping Kwan would place gold this year. I'm getting the feeling that shes going to retire, but shes only 25. I don't know the specifics so I'm guessing most figure skaters retire before they reach their 30s? I hope she stays and tries one more time at the Vancouver games.

These days in figure skating, Kwan is considered to be old (or at least 'middle aged') at 25. This sport, more and more, is being dominated by kids in the 18-early 20's range. Kwan, IMO, was a longshot to make the podium anyway. She hasn't been in a competitive meet in almost a year. She didn't even attend the U.S. Nationals (she made the Olympic team because she was given a special pass by the USOC), so there was no guarantee that she would have/should have been in Torino in the first place. Also, compared to the current crop of top-notch female skaters, Kwan is lagging behind in the technical skills (specifically, the jumps); she just doesn't have the same degree of difficulty and consistency that is now required to be an Olympic champion.

You should sign up to be her personal groin massager. Figure skaters go pro so early. I doubt she'd be back :(
Was watching some of the pairs short program and that Inoue chick landed a triple blah blah ... but what is up with the pants on the women? fuck, I need a HDTV to check the camel toe!!
YEAH :canada: is now tied for 2nd place in medal count! ...edit. NOT. back to 1

12-0 Canada in Women's Hockey vs the Russians :D

I doubt she will be still around when 2010 comes. I think she will make more touring as a pro then staying an amateur.
Ironically, the sister of Sarah Hughes (the gold medal winner in Salt Lake City, where Kwan finished second to) is taking Kwan's place on the American team.
-
Yeah, I kind of feel sorry for Michelle Kwan as well, she was amongst the favourite to win a gold medal in the previous olympics and it's a shame she doesn't get a chance to try for the elusive gold medal one more time...25 is actually consider extremely old for an olympian (in figure skating), if I'm not mistaken, if Slutskaya wins gold, she would be the oldest female figure skater to win gold? (not too sure though).
And I wasn't a big fan of Sarah Hughes...so I'm not a big fan of her sister either...
-
Sasha Cohen 4tw!
I love every sport in the Olympics. Shaun White gold!
Too bad for Ohno though.
You guys can't even comprehend my sadness about Michelle Kwan. :(
-
Michelle Kwan. I'd hit it. Figure skating tears up the body though. I remember listening on the news about banning younger girls in hopes of them not messing up their growing joints and stuff.
-
Ironically, the sister of Sarah Hughes (the gold medal winner in Salt Lake City, where Kwan finished second to) is taking Kwan's place on the American team.
Actually, Kwan finished in third place at the 2002 Olympics. She placed second at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano.
And in other (sorta) Olympic-related news...
Japanese Men's Figure Skater Takahashi Daisuke gets giant Valentine's Day chocolate from actress Ueto Aya. Lucky muthafucka.

ueto is too cute...her new pv...so cute..
what else is there to do at the olympics after you finish your competion?
-
Oh man, my figure skating picks are goin down the drain.
Michelle Kwan for Ladies
Zhang/Zhang for Pairs
Only one left is Weir for mens. :(
Sasha Cohen is my new pick for ladies, only problem is Slutskaya, but Kimmie might come out of no where.
-
Plushenko's got the gold already. And Sandhu with the BEAUTIFUL quad-triple toe combo, but fucks up on the axel and lutz. What do you mean, you're not nervous? You're nervous, and that's why you haevn't got a clean short prog this year at all.
-
The Russian pair were sore winners.
-
I was happy that the Canadians won silver in the cross country relay today
-

Yeah, with some unexpected help too. Now THAT's the true meaning of Olympic competition.
"History might record it was a Norwegian ski official, following the sport's unwritten tradition by handing Renner a new pole, that prevented Canada's Turin Games from jumping off the track." (http://tsn.ca/olympics/news_story/?ID=154862&hubname=)

Yeah when I saw saw the quad toe/triple toe I was going "Wow!" then he follows with a..umm...single axel(?) I was like "What the..."
Everyone's skating for silver in the FS.
-
Finland lost the gold in Freestyle :(
But won Switzerland in Hockey. Yay.
-
Dude sean white in snowbording was awesome.
From now on the olympics should not run the womans snowboarding after the mens. The girls look so bad after seeing the men bust thouse fat tricks.
-
So I read in the newspaper today that the bronze medal that Canada recently got in women's short track speed skating MAY get upgraded to a silver! Apparently the skater who took the silver MAY have had her skate up in the air (i.e. off the ice) when they crossed the line, and according to the rules, this would apparently disqualify her from winning the medal, as a skater's blades MUST be in contact with the ice as much as possible.
-
I am amazed at the atheletes who do skeleton. Going head-first down on an icey track is just crazy. :o

HAHAHAHAHA :ROFL  :D
-
I watched that too. Why the hell she had to do it on the second last jump... if she would have waited to the last jump she would have still won the race.
-
Canada won 1 more gold and a silver in the men's skeleton.
So far Norway has 11 medals, Germany, Russia, and Canada 11 medals, and US 10 medals

-
we are actually ahead of the Americans! hahaha
-
Too bad the tommys have the most golds
-
Those South Koreans are pretty good on the short-track speed tracking. Especially the women, sweeping all three medals.
-

Traditionally, I think that the powerhouses in short track have always been S.Korea and Chinese Taipei. To a lesser extent Canada has been up there too, especially in the team relays. Lately though we haven't had as many strong individual skaters as we used to have. American short track program has been improving too. Getting that Hailie Kim girl who left the S.Korean program definitely helps them too.
And as much as it pains me to say it, props to the Swiss men's hockey team for beating our Canadian boys. The Swiss played an awesome defensive game. None of our guys could get any real decent scoring chances. And the ones that they COULD get, got stonewalled by the Swiss goalie (not Aebischer, their other goalie). Kudos to you Swiss boys!
Of course you DO realize, THIS means war. :P

I heard that there was funding problems for the Japanese winter Olympic
Figure Skating team. Here is a video of one of the girl's Practicing.

I'm happy that Canada is tied again in 3rd place with 13 medals. Hope that they win some more to move ahead of the US.

Tom Green! that's awesome! none of that sequined shit. so aerodynamic! :lmao: :lmao:
...I bet if that ice dance team (Canada? where the guy let his partner faceplant into the ice, she still got up and did the pose at the end but OUCH!!) had that funding - they wouldn't have sucked so bad!
-
Sasha Cohen ftw!!
I'm annoyed with how much media Emily Hughes is getting. They keep talking about how she skated a personal best and everything. She ended up in like 7th or 8th place! Kimmie Meissner skated a personal best too, I don't hear half as much about her. Just cause Emily's sister won the gold, wow. Seriously, wtf.
-
It appears that these winter games have very low viewership in Canada. Just 4 more days to go and I think Canada won't reach its goal of having 25 medals.
-
Yeah, I haven't really been paying a lot of attention this time around. Sucky team, bad timezone and too much else going on.
-
I guess I watch some hockey and ski jumping.
Surprisingly curling has become my favorite in the olympics :) I haven't watched ski jumping at all.
-
Canada finished 1-2 in the 1,500 metre long-track speed skating event. :)
So thats 17 medals now. Canada is more of a winters olypmics type of country than the summer one.

curling is freakin awesome

My roommate gets all tense when they throw the rock, then he yells something along the lines of right right left left scrub or sumthing like that, then total silence, the rock hits another rock with a 'ding' sound, then he gets nuts if its a good shot or all emo if its a bad one :D
Better than sex?

Yeah, I particularly liked the little pearls 'Helvetin Vittu!' and 'Paskaksi meni!'

I like how curlers scream as they let the rock go and the others start sweeping the ice.
-
Gotta get the beers and the party gear ready for the Men's Curling Gold Medal Match
NEWFIE PRIDE IS ON THE LINE, TIME TO FINISH THE FINNISH!!!! :D
-
Shizuka Arakawa got gold in the women's figure skating, Sasha Cohen the silver, and Irina Slutskaya the bronze. Sasha had a slim lead after the short program and just didn't do that well. By the time she recovered, it was too late. The points for 1st was 191.34 and 2nd is 183.36.
-
Cohen got hurt on Wenesday. I knew she wouldn't win the gold in that condition, but I'm happy she got silver! She fought through her program well and after the first 2 falls, she did amazing and never gave up, but the highlight is Shizuka Arakawa's Gold Medal performance. Two triples turned into doubles, but she had a clean performance and the triple-triple combination wasn't that necessary after Cohen's falls.
Emily Hughes gets too much media for her skill level.
Remember JB! I predicted that Slutskaya fall! None of my picks got gold though, haha
I want more Halie Kim goodness!
-
Screw Emily Hughes. Her older sister Sarah needs to come back and skate again.
Cohen is so cute. Congrats for her silver medal.
Curling needs to get bigger so I can make a curling thread. Congrats to the Sweden Women's Curling team last night for winning gold.
Biathlon seems so hard. You have to ski and shoot and ski and shoot :w00t:
-
M-15 and his team screwed up :( At least we heard some nice curses from Mäkelä...
I guess Uusipaavalniemi wants to take the gold in Vancouver instead of Italy.
-
Sarah is a fatty. She goes to college now, she won't win another Worlds, much less an Olympic medal. :o
2010 Kimmie Meissner (or Sasha Cohen if she goes back)! Maybe Miki Ando if she can get her spirals down, or some new Japanese chicka. Who knows what new machine the Russians will pump out.
-
Congrats to the Canadian curling team... we just plain sucked today. :(
-
I forgot Poutiainen got silver in slalom today. She hasn't done too good this season until now.
-
Congrats to the Canadian curling team... we just plain sucked today. :(
Thats 20 medals for Canada and about 80% of the medals were won by girls. That lady speed skater from Canada won 4 of them. I think she will hold the flag for the closing ceremonies.
Look closely at the closing ceremony for Vancouver's mayor. He is on a wheelchair and going to wave the large Olympic flag. The mayor was afraid that the wind might blow him over.

That's Cindy Klassen. She has a chance at a potential 5th medal when she skates in the next distance (3000m or 5000m, can't remember which). And guess what, SHE'S FROM 'PEG SHEETY!!!!! :woot:

It'd be interesting to see how well she'd do under the new scoring system. But yeah, she's in school now. I've sometimes seen her on TV skating in some professional shows.

DUDE, SHE'S CANADIAN!!! She only got her American citizenship like, two months ago (at the most). She's been skating for the States all these years but they only had her go for her citizenship recently because her and Agosto were a legitimate medal contender. If she hadn't gotten her American citizenship they wouldn't have been allowed to compete.
BTW, to the American figure skaters...you're welcome. :canada:

I think the canadian part in the ceremonies kind of suck with the ice and that goofy person on it. A lot of people here didn't like how it represented Canada. In Vancouver, its hardly ever snowing or cold enough here.

I guess someone will make lots of money by making artifical snow XD
Well, it be called the Rainy Olympics if Vancouver had the Olympics this year  This past January, almost 28 out of 31 days were raining. I do hope that we get snow here when 2010 comes.
-

I was kinda excited about Vancouver but now I find out it hardly snows.

Finland has snow, but no mountains. So we can never have the Winter Olympics here :(
-
I was kinda excited about Vancouver but now I find out it hardly snows.
The Olympic bid for 2010 was actually shared between the TWO cities of Vancouver and Whistler. Whistler is a BIG tourist town (known as a premiere skiing spot) located in a more mountainous area of British Columbia. Whistler gets a LOT more snow than Vancouver does. Suffice it to say, most of the outdoor events that actually need snow (eg. nordic/ downhill/freestyle skiing, bobsled, luge, skeleton, etc) will take place in Whistler. Vancouver will have more of the indoor events (such as short-track/speed/figure skating, hockey, curling), as well as the opening/closing/medal ceremonies.
Here's a site that outlines what's supposed to happen where: http://www.vancouver2010.com/en/WinterGames/2010GamesVenues/Competition

Its a good thing because many drivers in Vancouver (Actually, I think Vancouver has some of the worst drivers around...) have no clue how to drive on snow. They complain if there is 1cm of snow on the ground.
I did see it snowing on the mountains. :w00t:
