Title: The Mission
Post by: bluewind78 on May 22, 2016, 11:57:08 AM
"LEADER, this is TWO. I'm in position". She radioed in as soon as she had her sniper rifle set up.

"I'm in. Second block, third floor" The reply came almost immediately. TWO swivelled her rifle 30 degrees to her right. Through the scope, she spotted LEADER talking to the security guard, playing with her long hair as she worked her charm on the young man.

"Leader, this is THREE. We have a problem" Suddenly the Commo came to life.

"THREE, this is TWO. This is NOT a good time" She hissed at the younger.

"I'd say it would HAVE to be. The gate's still locked and I'm in plain sight! With a tonne of explosives strapped to my back!"

"OK, OK...don't panic" She tried to calm THREE down, before switching to a private channel. "FOUR, what's taking you so long?"

"The entire system's on security lockdown" FOUR answered.

"WHAT?! How is that possible? Surely they can't possibly know we're coming?" TWO responded.

"It would take some time for me to bypass the new security protocols" FOUR was furiously typing away on her keyboard, and TWO could hear it as clear as day.

"How much time do you need?" TWO asked as she followed the movement of LEADER who was now entering the secured compound.

"I dunno..it's hard to tell"

"Well, you have 10 minutes. I don't care how you do it, just MAKE it happen!" TWO switched her Commo back to the main channel cutting off FOUR who was just about to voice out her protest.

"By the way, where the hell is FIVE?" TWO suddenly remembered their youngest team member. "FIVE, do you copy?"

TWO left the sniper rifle and picked up her night vision binoculars which she used to search for the normally-scatter-brained member. She finally found her applying a stranglehold from behind on the neck of a security prowler patrolling outside the perimeter of the compound. TWO prayed hard that the prowler will never discharge a round from his weapon, and she heaved a sigh of relief once FIVE has taken care of the situation, leaving behind the prowler with his throat slit by a commando knife.

"Sorry I'm late to the party, Sabu..."

"Hey Judo expert, what did I tell you?! No names over the Comms"

"Sorry.."

"Bring up the rear on THREE. She will need all the help she can get" TWO ordered.

"Roger that" FIVE acknowledged as she disappeared into the bushes, heading in the direction of the rear entrance where TWO was no longer able to see her.

TWO returned to her sniper scope and looked around the vicinity of the secured compound. LEADER was no longer there. "Rats! I've lost her" She silently cursed herself, making sure the rest of the Team didn't hear her.

At the inside of the compound, LEADER was led down two levels below the surface. Now she knew she was truly alone. Her only hope is that her hot-headed second-in-command knew exactly how to coordinate the rest of the mission from above the ground. When the elevator door finally opened, she started her wristwatch timer counting down from 10 minutes.

Back at the rear entrance, THREE was already shivering from the cold night breeze that is blowing out towards the sea. "C'mon, FOUR...I'm freezing here. Help a sista out, will ya?!".

And true to form, the electrified fence switched off and the electronic gate unlocked. Her prayers were finally answered.

Before THREE could move in, she heard the rustling of leaves in the direction of the dense vegetation. Instinctively, she held out her MP-5 and aimed it at the moving figure out in the distance.

"Don't shoot!! It's me.."

"FIVE?"

"What took you so long?" FIVE asked the older.

"Hey, that's MY LINE"

"Quit the chatter and get back to work, ladies. If the charges ain't exploding before LEADER gets found out, this mission is gonna be one big SNAFU" TWO finally reasserted control over her subordinates.

Then, all of a sudden, a deafening security alarm sounded, echoing over all blocks and all levels of the Compound. It was then that all the members of the team realized time is really truly not on their side.

ED: I will leave it to you, the reader, to guess the identities of the members. It will be a short while more before this is revealed.
