3rd Gen: 7th grade+ (12/13+)
4th Gen: 7th grade+

If Eggs can audition, I hope they get some advantage instead of having to go through all stages of selection, especially those who have been training for 6 years now.In a way I wouldn't mind them being featured in as many stages as possible, just because it would mean more footage about them LOL. Like imagine if they didn't get to do the training camp D: I wanna see them, idk, pwning the crap out of the other ones (ROFL) or the singing teacher could give them a lecture "you may have been an Egg already for x time, but in Morning Musume things are different" blah blah, I think it'd be good drama/storytelling xD But I guess that's the reality tv fan side of me speaking, haha

The Lucky 7 audition was hilarious because not only did Tsunku find nobody for Momusu, but none of the girls were chosen for Eggs either XD It was like "omg all of you are fucking useless, goodbye!" hahahaha, yeah.

I stand by my desire to have an appropriately aged egg fill the age gap, but today I have a hunch that Tsunku might actually want that gap there to create contrast.
^ Yeah sometimes it's easy to forget the ages of these girls. >o< When I was 11 my teacher at school was still constantly giving me these bitchy comments because I used to walk with my toes pointing inward... And I had this "Y SO SERIOUS?!" mentality LOL. ANYWAY kids at that age are awkward and have no idea about worklife, bless their innocent souls.
I think none of the finalists fits into MM because of their age. If new members have to be added, they should be at least 18 in 2011.

I've been having a hell of a time convincing people that 11-13 year olds is not the way to go with MM. But since Tsunku seems dead set on having a bunch of youngins I'll say it again, it better be Riho who is guaranteed a spot. Everyone else will have to do more to convince me to care. It's not that I don't think any of these finalists suck beyond Riho but she was the only one who showed actual potential from what I saw.
My bet is that he names himself the winner of the 9th gen. :lol:
But you do realize past auditions have always aimed young, right? Just look at how old the current members were when they joined. Even the first formation of the group featured a 12-year-old and a huge age gap similar to what we're seeing now: Yuko was 24, Aichan is currently 24; Nacchi/Iida were 16, Aika is currently 17 going on 18. I agree that older would've been better, but UFA has been doing this since the beginning and this really shouldn't be all too surprising. Think of it more as long-term planning by the management, picking girls who can stick around for a while.
I think I might have to watch the audition episode again, but so far my preferred picks are Riho and Kanon; Riho because she's just an all-around performer with experience (the group can always use that kind of help), and Kanon because of my earlier "She is Hello Project" analysis...plus she might do well on the "personality" front, and her voice can become better with time and work. You gotta keep in mind that Morning Musume stopped being a traditional singing group and went full-fledged idol mode way back in 2000 (when they shunned Mikitty and made Rika their top pick), so there needs to be more than just singing with these girls.

Riho's gonna own every single current H!P girl in dancing, probably without breaking a sweat. This stuff is fierce as hell, and she seemed to learn everything really fast.

Riho, like Stryfe said has a HUUUUUGE potential in all areas. She's like the Sidney Crosby of NHL or John Wall from the NBA. Can't imagine her when she's in her prime. Tsunku shouldn't fuck it up like the last audition and sign her ASAP.

It's like my eyes are automatically drawn to her.
When she bows and stuff, she does so with a deeper seriousness than others
and though she has a small and slender body, you get the feeling that inside is a mature and reliable person.....

Since she's from Hiroshima prefecture, which is right next to my own Yamaguchi prefecture, I wonder if I should try talking to her in my home dialect♪～θ(^0^ )

K: One day when I was out walking with my mom she said "It looks like they're doing auditions now." so I said "Really, then I'll try auditioning!"
R: When I was in kindergarten at our play-meet we did "Go girl~" and that became my impetus to become a singer. [Talk about motivated] This time on the net I found an article about the auditions on the net, so I applied right away.
E: I first liked Morning Musume from "Mr. Moonlight~" and I wanted to audition during the 8th gen auditions but I was only in 3rd grade at the time. After 4 years when I heard they were having this audition, I thought I'd apply.
How did you feel right when you heard you were accepted?
M: When they said someone from the eggs, I was sure it wasn't me, so I was really shocked.
K: "Are they ok with me!? I've never sung or dance, so if I join it might become an issue," I thought, but I knew I shouldn't say that, so I just kept quiet (lol).
R: When I first heard I was accepted I didn't really get the sense that it had happened. When I looked at the acceptance documents there were a lot of difficult words written, that made me think "I've really entered into the adult world."
E: During the auditions I thought I failed at both dancing and singing, so I wondered if it would be OK for me to be accepted. When I first heard I had been, I don't know how to express how happy I was.
Tell us about when you first met the Morning Musume Members.
M: I thought Michishige-san is really kind and funny. Takahashi-san was very kind, Mitsui-san was smiling the whole time; I had this image that Niigaki-san would be very strict when we were together practicing lessons but she is also very kind. I thought Tanaka-san's accent is really cute.
K: On the first day, I was like Wow, celebrities! When I gave Michishige-san candies I wanted her to remember who I was.
R: I had been able to perform with them before on the "Fashionable" stage. When I passed this time and went to shake their hands, they said "Long time no see!" so I was really happy that they remembered me.
E: I thought "Everyone's faces are so tiny." When I was at the training camp, I made mistakes dancing and singing in front of only a few people, but the members were performing in front of so many people without making any mistakes. I thought that was amazing.
Your impressions of the other 9ki:
M: Riho-chan left the impression of being a really good dancer. Erina-chan seemed quiet at first but she actually has a very vibrant loud voice (lol). I thought Kanon-chan was funny from when I saw her do her one minute play during the auditions.
K: Riho-chan comes across really cool, but in the practice room she did comanechi [a gag]! Eri-chan came and talked to me first. When I'm alone with Fukumura-san I feel like she's an older sister.
R: At first they told me that I was really quiet, so I went full-out being more friendly (lol). Kanon-chan also got really excited so it was fun. Fukumura-san has taught me a lot of things about politeness and courtesy so I'll be relying on her. Erina-chan seems like a bit of an airhead. [The word isn't mean, the other members often called Kamei Eri this way.]
E: Kanon-chan is a girl who is always smiling, I want to learn from that. When I saw Mizuki sing Maji Bomber! I felt her love towards H!P. Riho looks quiet usually but when she dances it's like a switch turns on. I think her dances can show her expressions.
Your goals for the future:
M: I want to become a person who can sing sad and happy songs. I am going to be aware of myself as a Morning Musume member from now on, and work to distinguish myself within the group.
K: I want to make all the fans smile in a lot of different ways. I want to become a character who people naturally smile being around. Also I'd like to learn some foreign languages so I can go around the world singing and dancing!
R: In the end I want to end up as the leader, so I'm going to be tough on myself. I'm going to work hard to improve my skills and expressions.
E: I'm not good at singing, so I'll try to do my best with dancing and talking first!

This is Morning Musume's 45th single.
For the 9th generation members, it's also their first single.
Since new members have been added, I've been wracking my brain this time.
It's been quite stimulating.

The 9th generation is certainly bright and cheerful.

She should definitely keep her my-pace attitude.
With the addition of these 4 new members,
Morning Musume's brightness has become more evident.
