To me, even though the PV is clearly about the girls out on the prowl (I wouldn't say all of them were being portrayed as prostitutes, if anything I felt only Atsuko was clearly portrayed that way), it was also about them being in control. Well, Atsuko not so much, but even at the end, her little smile, was kind of a give away. It's not a PV a lot of people are going to like, but at the same time I don't think it's as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.
To each their own, of course, but I think it's a fantastic PV and it's not something that should be ignored, especially in Japan.

I actually really like the song though, and seeing the PV is what got me interested in the group. But it always made me feel a little uncomfortable with it's subject matter. I don't see it as an endorsement but I also don't see it showing anything negative about the situation. More like the girls are saying "This is how it is, and this is how we want it" and I feel that there's something wrong with that. What I see this song is endorsing is that sentiment. It's cool expressing your sexual side and all, but to have adolescent girls going who knows where with strange adult men so they can have their way with them is wrong, and that's what this PV is showing. It's clearly aimed at the perves.

I'm more to it as an acknowledgement of the reality. Even Keibutsu is about school bullying. I find the concept very similar. To give acknowledgement on problems. I'm not sure I'd want to listen to something that goes "prostitution is wrong". It'll sound pretty weird. I found Seifuku disturbing when I first saw it, but it's clearly one of their best (if not the best) PVs to date.

Team A and K are 16 gals each. and Team B has 21, the ones in the pic and Kazumi, Natsumi and Shiho, just as Cookies stated. I'm no good at headcounting but with the magic of calc I make that 53 in total. Actually I don't think they've ever been 48 and that number has nothing to do with their numbers (correct me if I'm wrong). Someone ought to know and can explain.

New unit Chocolove from AKB48 consisting of Nakanishi Rina, Akimoto Sayaka and Miyazawa Sae's first single to be used as an image song for Odaiba Gakuen (http://www.fujitv.co.jp/odaiba-gakuen/imagechara.html) as well as a theme song for Fuji TV anime Skullman.
They will be releasing FOUR versions of their single (good luck collecting them all), a limited CD+DVD version, and 3 normal versions. Tracklist as follows:
1. 明日は明日の君が生まれる (Ashita wa Ashita no Kimi ga Umareru)
2. チョコレート (Chocolate)
3. 明日は明日の君が生まれる ***
4. 明日は明日の君が生まれる -instrumental-
Track 3 is where the different versions really differ in.
The normal versions come with Rina-mix, Sayaka-mix and Sae-mix versions, while the limited version comes with Chocolove-mix. Way to milk the crazy obsessed fans of their dough.

Their songs are really quite different from that of Momusu, so I wouldn't really compare the groups.

I think it was at 3:52 where I thought you could see Takahashis panties, but I was wrong (I checked it out thouroughly), it was merely the back of her dress. So (unfortunately) no panty peaks so far.

it's still a wild guess as to who is going to China or the Tokyo Game Show (both on 9/22), rumor says Team B is going to China and Top members are in TGS. We'll see but I hope Takamina and Acchan get to visit Beijing. The event is some kind of culture exchange between China and Japan. I'm sure the first show I went to the were miming but this show was live and you could deffinately hear Sayaka sing and she has an amazingly powerful voice. 'Lay Down' was :mon blood: and Sae was definately GENKING!!!
Also alot of the members noticed me. I was the only white girl in there and I was sat in the middle of the girls row again (241 FTW). Both Haruna and Sayaka kept looking at me. Sayaka was looking a LOT. I know its just because they're probably like 'oh, a foreign girl' but it made my day.
I will be having sweet dreams tonight :lol:

Ok, Review time.
First a few bits of info.
1 - They were filming at today's show. That might help you try to work out when the DVD will be released.
2 - Remember. I know none of these songs and only one of the girls. Don't expect song names etc. You just have to work with me on this.
3 - This whole review is aimed towards Tara. So there!
4 - I took the escalators of doom and nearly got run over by a fat man on a push bike just so I could get back to my hotel room really fast and right this review. Hope you enjoy/ appreciate it.
Right. I got to the theatre at 6:30pm and it was PACKED. They had already put the numbers out on the floor by now and I was a bit (under exageration) scared. I had number 80 so I thought I was gonna be at the back of a line. My reasoning for this was the girls line starts from 241 so I thought all the other lines start from -1 or --1. Then I realised that they didn't and I was at the front of the queue. Oh shit!
I started to panic as I thought 'If I don't hear them call my number then I'm gonna have some pissed of Japanese guys pushing me from behind'. So I'm in my queue and all the time in my head I'm going 'Hachi Ju, Hachi Ju, Hachi Ju, Haruna's thighs - eh? - Hachi Ju, Hachi Ju' (see my few Japanese lessons paid off). First numbers were called. I didn't understand what the guy with the speaker said so I realised it must be over 100 as I never practised my numbers over 100. Whoever they called were round in the corridor and they had to go and get them as they didn't hear. Second number got called - Hachi Ju THAT'S ME
FIRST ROW. YEAH BABY YEAH!!!!
So I'm sat to the left in the first row and am really, really starting to get nervous. The people that were there tonight were really in to it. They all started shouting before one of the girls had done the first announcement thing. So my nerves were fading and I was now begining to get excited.
The show started. I only knew one of the girls (because of Tara) so I looked around at all of them. Obviously I got noticed quite quickly by the girls over my side of the stage (huh, wha, gaijin??!). I'm now looking for Nacchan, find her and start looking at her thighs. The voice in my head is saying 'don't look at her thighs Tara will murder you' so I tried looking at other girls but kept going back to them thighs. GRRRR!!!
So a few songs later they come out in they're animal suits (I did not realise that was Team B. Doh). Nacchan in her penguin suit is right in front of me. Penguin upskirt, Nacchan nearly fell over LOL, more penguin upskirt. Then I'm thinking to myself 'why does the one dressed as a Dog have a lump on her back - oh its supposed to be a Camel' *smacks self*. More penguin upskirt. Then the song ends and Nacchan waddles off the stage bent over smacking her ass at the girl behind her.
Now Tara's not gonna like this bit. During Virgin Love after they sang the chorus for the second time and they do that little bit after (do you guys who've seen this understand what I mean) where 2 of the girls (one was Nacchan) are down on one knee and the rest are stood up. Well Nacchan was directly in front of me and there was eye contact!!! Eye contact, eye contact, eye contact (I'm not gonna look away), eye contact, eye contact, eye contact then she turned around. OMFG!!!!! She just sang whilst staring at me for the last like 20secs or so. Just a pitty it wasn't Harunyan
A few songs have passed and by now I'm waiting for the song Tara was on about. The skirt flipping one. Then they come out in flamenco dresses so I realised this must be it. Woo hoo, what a show but...they're wearing shorts underneath. Damn - where's the spacky pants? (I know these girls are minors and I shouldn't be thinking this way about them but, Meh!) Anyway I really enjoyed that.
About the MC's. Do Team B have more then any of the other Teams as there seemed to be a lot of speaking. T'was a bit boring for me as I didn't understand them. Anyway, each MC managed to get fucked up in some way or another and I'm pretty sure all of the girls made a fuck up at least once. LMAO. Also all of the MC's managed to run over as they kept getting booted off the stage by the people who were supposed to be singing the next song. He he he.
One of the girls that caught my eye there and, if I had to chose a favourite it would be her, is the young, small girl that looks ever so slightly like Miyabi from Berryz Koubou. Noticed her first of all as she speaks REALLY LOUDLY in to her mike. Then I thought - hey she looks kinda like Miyabi. She also made me laugh as at one point she nearly started scrapping with the other small one. Would someone like to tell me her name?
The girl I didn't like is the tall one with the short hair. Looks like she's trying to style herself on Sae. She reminds me of an American singer (I so want to say Celine Dion but it's not her, someone like her though). Is that the one who's graduating? If it is then there's no love loss from me there.
normally when i see the team B group pics, the 1st thing i would do is searching fo shiho... but when i see that pic, i tried to search for shiho... i couldnt find her..and i was like...DAMNNNNNNN!!! WHERE IS SHE!!! she's not graduate yet!!! shiho!!! suddenly i miss her so much~ :fainted:

oh stop guessing....they are just too much BUT 1/3 of them are "one in the world" photos, the ones with blue bar on the bottom, I think there are only 5 exist of each, the ones with red bar are bonus photos from their 1st concert PB, very rare to get a full set plus the special pic (the one on the right). The main reason why AKB48 photos are so expensive in auction is most of them are limited.

^ I bought the Team B one whilst I was in Japan. Then gave it to Tara. As far as I'm aware there was no AKB inside of it (or if there was, there wasn't much as I didn't notice it). There was some H!P in there though.

sounds like a good idea, but they charge pretty steep fees :(
other benefits like a one time guarantee stage ticket (fan saves this for special event like favorite member's birthday, graduation, etc.). FC members have advantage of special event draws but basically if you don't live in Japan, these benefits don't apply to you but I think the blog and photos are attractive enough to join.

BTW, Cd Japan has available a DVD Chocolove will release in December but they haven't made available the album yet. YesAsia hasn't, either. I want to pre order it as soon as possible :(
They didn't release a CD+DVD with Boku, and in a weirrrd move, the CD+DVD for Yuuhi will have the Boku PV and making. Which means we probably wont get the Yuuhi making until the next single... which makes no sense.

According to reports, NHK is planning to have them [AKB48, Nakagawa Shoko and Leah Dizon] be the "top batter" (opening act) for the Red Team. Each of the three will sing their own songs, then will take the stage together for an anime theme song performance. Negotiations with the relevant management agencies are still under way, but the plan is said to be very likely to happen.
AKB48 will appear early on the show for sure as many of them are underage by law...something like if they are under 18 they can't appear after 9:00PM (?), correct me if I'm wrong.

that's why nearly all songs of the normal version are better than shuffle - each song's composed to a special girl - shuffle means the girls get songs they don't fit in and they're not used to sing. - The only exception I prefer the shuffle over the normal version is "Kiss wa Dame yo"! - Not difficult to guess why?! ^^No question about it. I also prefer that shuffle version :roll:

^I think they mean Jurina is like Maki/Koharu in the way that Akimoto is really promoting/pushing them forward. Not in terms of dancing or vocal qualities.
It's kinda weird they're mixing AKB and SKE members. I think many people were disappointed seeing this SKE girl having a big part in an AKB single. I'm not saying she isn't any good or anything, but pushing her like this might achieve the opposite of what Akimoto wants.

Team A member Nozomi Kawasaki has announced that she is leaving AKB48 on February 27. It was revealed on the group's official blog that Kawasaki is launching her own apparel brand as early as next month.
In an entry on her own blog, Kawasaki said that the brand's name is "Anti minss," with a concept of "Rock spiritual sexy." The post included images of some sample items and the current logo. She also mentioned that she is aiming to make the clothing unisex. A launch event is scheduled for March 1.
Kawasaki will reportedly continue her idol career as well, remaining under the management of Sky Corporation.

It's definitely a smart move by Nozomi, I think she can accomplish more outside of AKB48.

Talking about stages, which one(s) are generally considered the best ones? I've only seen a couple of them, and I must say I wasn't that impressed by them. Mostly because of the mediocre montage, short length and overall quality. I was expecting a bit more, because they are priced the same as a normal Morning Musume DVD.

And as for the DVD's, the production quality is just bad and that's a sad reality. Earlier stage DVD's suffer from bad sync issues, later ones from really sloppy cuts(watch Umeda Ayaka's hair and the audience magically transform all throughout MARIA in K3). And yes, the prices charged for AKB48 stuff is absolutely absurd. Especially with some of them being such low quality. At least with an H!P concert, the lips move with the sound and it doesn't look like it was all rendered in Windows Movie Maker.
As for teams, nobody forces you to pick a favorite one. Just stick to members. ;)

4. Why did they cut all the MCs?! It's not ike there wasn't space on the dvds for them or anything..MC's get repetative way faster then songs, unless they would include all of them done during the stage (on a seperate DVD?) which one would they choose? And as they do not record all shows, you would miss some anyway.
6. Too much lip syncing for my tastes. Even bad lip syncing in some parts, but that may be caused by the editing. I'd rather have them sing bad than not at all, but that's just a matter of opinion.I still think a good recording is better then bad singing for listening multiple times...

This weekend, members of idol group AKB48 made their European debut at the Japan Expo in Paris, France. On Sunday, multiple news outlets in Japan reported on the performance, saying that this is just the start of AKB48 making a push overseas. According to the news, AKB48 is planning to perform in New York in September, followed by a concert in Cannes, France, in October. If the information is true, AKB48 will likely be a guest at the New York Anime Festival, which takes place September 25-27. However, no official statement has been made yet by NYAF or AKB48's management.

SDN48, a new unit being assembled for the AKB48-related "Saturday Night 48" project, has picked up two members from the ranks of AKB48. The group's two oldest members, Megumi Ohori (25) and Kayo Noro (25), were officially announced as part of the roster on Friday night. "Saturday Night 48" was revealed last year as a series of late-night shows being held at AKB48's theater in Akihabara, geared towards an adult audience. Recruitment has been underway for the SDN48 group, limited to idols at least 20 years of age. So far, the only known participating members of AKB48 are Ohori and Noro. Both will remain active with AKB48. The "Saturday Night 48" concerts will be held at 10pm on Saturday nights, starting on July 25.

Nanami Nishikawa (16), a member of AKB48's "kenkyuusei" ("research students"), has just been dismissed by her agency, AKS. As a result, her departure from the idol group was announced through a post on the AKB48 blog. Nishikawa's management explained that she had done something careless, due to her "lack of self-awareness" as an AKB48 research student. Although the exact reason was not mentioned, other sources indicate that Nishikawa had taken a purikura photo with some male fans that was later spread online. It is not yet known whether Nishikawa has plans to continue in show business outside of AKB48.

Mika Saeki (19), a member of AKB48's Team B, is graduating from the group next month. The news came during a performance on Tuesday night at their Akihabara theater, followed by a comment posted on their official blog. In January, Saeki took a break from AKB48 due to a leg injury that required half a year of treatment. That time has now passed, but due to poor health the treatment did not go smoothly. Thinking about her future, she decided to formally graduate in order to focus on her recovery, so that she can return to show business sooner.
Saeki joined AKB48 as a kenkyuusei in May 2007, then debuted two months later along with Reina Fujie (15). Saeki's final concert with AKB48 will be the one at Nippon Budokan on August 23. The show will include a graduation "ceremony" for both Saeki and Risa Naruse (15), who left Team K in May due to a herniated disc.

Newspapers are reporting that the H1N1 influenza virus has reached epidemic level in Japan. Although some cases have been identified as typical flu infections, it is suspected that most of the current flu cases are of the H1N1 strain. Health concerns became especially heightened this past week, as Japan witnessed its first few swine flu deaths. Naturally, the entertainment industry has not been able to avoid the flu. Among those infected are Maximum the Hormone vocalist Ryo Kawakita (reported last week) and actor Takeru Sato, though only the former was identified as having the H1N1 strain. This week, several more cases were publicly reported, including members of baseball team Nippon Ham Fighters and idol group AKB48.
Four players and one coach for the Nippon Ham Fighters were diagnosed with influenza A, with two of them being the H1N1 strain. The five of them have been placed in isolation. Six AKB48 members have been sidelined - Team K's Manami Oku and Asuka Kuramochi, Team B's Aika Ohta and Haruka Kohara, and kenkyuusei members Haruka Ishida and Sumire Sato. They have all been diagnosed with influenza A, though it has not been said whether any of them are H1N1 cases. As a result, they will not participate in an AKB48 event at the Nippon Budokan this weekend. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's entertainment industry was also recently hit, as singer Stephy Tang was confirmed to be infected with the H1N1 virus.

15-year-old idol Shihori Suzuki, currently belonging to AKB48's "kenkyuusei" team, unexpectedly announced on Saturday that she is leaving the group. The news came just a week after Suzuki was promoted to become a regular member of Team B.
Earlier in August, when AKB48 surprised fans with major roster changes, Suzuki was one of twelve kenkyuusei members who were chosen to join the main AKB48 unit this coming October. But according to her blog post, she said that when her promotion was announced, she realized her own "half-heartedness" and felt that she could not continue with her "naive way of thinking," while her peers were desperately trying to achieve their dreams. Instead of worrying and being unable to move forward as part of AKB48, she hopes to figure out her own dream by herself and work directly towards it.
Suzuki officially leaves AKB48 at the end of August, but she will still participate in a handshake event on September 20 as planned. Her last stage performance with the group was on August 29, when she announced her resignation.

That said, I'm pretty sure no one is going to argue that AKB is not a profit-driven entity. Much of my attraction to AKB derives from that; that they don't really hide what they're doing, although they try not to make it too obvious. But at times I do want to believe that all of it is just an act..

@datalanche - AKB48 is different. watch AKBingo, Shuukan, Nemousu and their other shows on a regular basis and you will know what i mean (specifically the Truth Chess segments in AKBingo) and you will also deduce that AKB48 goes the distance to actually show most of their real personalities in normal life compared to other idol groups since they are idols you can meet. that is what Akimoto Yasushi had in mind.

Yoshinobu Nishimoto, a 27-year-old male from Hiroshima, has been arrested on suspicion of mailing a threatening letter to AKS, the management company behind popular idol group AKB48. According to police, Nishimoto (occupation unknown) is believed to have sent a letter to AKS in late April, which threatened to harm several members of AKB48. In addition to the letter, the envelope contained a spare razor blade. Police said that the letter was sent under Nishimoto's own name and included his real address. The letter also ended with Nishimoto's initials, as it was signed "From NY."

In last nights J-Melo show, Nikkei Entertainment! Editor-in-Chief, Hirozumi Yoshioka commented about today’s teenage pop groups. He mentioned that AKB48 is one of the famous pop groups in Japanese pop music. He also mentioned SKE48 as AKB48’s little sister. He then said that these sister groups have probable rivals and these are Hello! Project’s S/Mileage, and Stardust Promotion’s Momoiro Clover.
According to Yoshioka, these teenage pop groups (not only the said groups above), would need to produce big hit songs or singles for them or generally, Japanese pop, to not die. He commented more about AKB. He said that AKB48 is currently on top of all the Pop groups this year with their high selling single, “Beginner”.
*They showed short portions of each groups’ singles in this order, SKE48, S/Mileage, Momoiro Clover then AKB48 (with Beginner).
Watarirouka Hashiritai’s newest single, “Gyu” was also showed in yesterday’s J-Melo with a little comment from the members about the single.

The website, which is accessed by over 50 million users each month, conducted the rankings over a 9-day period from November 24 to December 2, and a total of more than 1.11 million votes were cast across all the categories.
Nominees were based on Yahoo!'s music rankings over the past year, as well as keyword searches performed through the website.

AKB48's 19th single, "Chance no Junban," is #1 on the sales charts this week, moving just under 597,000 copies. Although this is a drop from the 827,000 copies sold in the first week by their previous single "Beginner," the song is still their fourth consecutive single to exceed half a million in first-week sales.
AKB48 now has five #1 singles for the year, a feat that has not been accomplished by a female artist since Pink Lady in 1978. The group also has achieved a streak of six consecutive chart-toppers. Among female groups, this ties for the record with Onyanko Club, who had six number-ones between February 1986 and May 1987.
Two singles by the anime band Girls Dead Monster ranked #2 and #3, followed by Kaela Kimura's latest song at #4. Choshinsung, TUBE, and Sata Andagi entered the charts in the #7 to #9 spots. On the album charts, Mr.Children's "SENSE" held on to the #1 seat for the second straight week, selling an additional 95,000 copies. This brings its current sales total to 597,000. A few new albums made the top ten, coming from Dragon Ash (#7), Yuna Ito (#8), INFINITY16 (#9), and GARNET CROW (#10).
The overall DVD charts were led by SMAP's "We are SMAP! 2010 CONCERT DVD" at a pace of 164,000 copies in its first week. This is SMAP's 2nd consecutive DVD (and 5th in total) to reach #1 in the overall DVD rankings. In just the music DVD category, this is their 6th consecutive #1.

Singer-songwriter Kana Uemura recently made her first appearance on NHK's year-end music show Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Her latest song, "Toilet no Kamisama," has been receiving a lot of attention since then. Due to the so-called "Kouhaku effect," the song not only reached #1 on the download charts, but it sold 11,000 copies this past week to achieve #1 on Oricon's single sales rankings, marking Uemura's first time ever at the top of the charts.
"Toilet no Kamisama" was first released as part of Uemura's mini-album "Watashi no Kakeratachi" in March 2010. The song became popular as a digital download later that year, and she released it as her 10th CD single on November 24. However, the song debuted at #12 and never broke the Top 10 before this past week.
The last time that a single rose to #1 from a spot outside the Top 10 in the preceding week was in 2004, when Kanjani8's "Naniwa Iroha Bushi" started out as a Kansai-only release and then began selling nationwide.
Also thanks to the Kouhaku effect, idol group AKB48 saw their singles climb the rankings to place four of them in the Top 10. "Chance no Junban" and "Heavy Rotation" were already in the Top 10 in the previous week but rose to #2 and #3 (from #3 and #8), while "Beginner" and "Ponytail to Chou-chou" jumped to #5 and #9 (from #11 and #25). This is the first time that a female group has had four singles rank in the weekly Top 10. Including female solo artists, they are only the second to achieve that, tying with Hikaru Utada's record from 1999.
Many other artists' singles benefited from appearances on Kouhaku or other music shows at the end of the year. These included SNSD's "Gee" (#13 to #6), EXILE's "I Wish For You" (#20 to #7), Ikimono Gakari's "Arigatou" (#40 to #15), KARA's "Mister" (#33 to #18), and Fuyumi Sakamoto's "Mata Kimi ni Koishiteru" (#48 to #29).
On the album charts, AKB48 sub-unit No Sleeves (no3b) achieved their first #1 album. The self-titled "no3b," released on January 1, sold 59,000 copies to top the rankings. Like Uemura, this is their first number-one release.
The last sub-unit of a female music group to have a #1 album was Morning Musume's Petitmoni in 2002.
Meanwhile, Ikimono Gakari's best album "Ikimono Bakari ~Members BEST Selection~" officially reached 1 million in actual sales, after nine weeks on store shelves. The album has now sold a total of 1.04 million copies. This is the first million-selling album by a group with female vocals since Russian duo t.A.T.u. in 2003.

9 popular members of idol group AKB48 are forming a limited-time unit to promote NHK’s new television shows that are starting this spring. The unit has been dubbed “Team Pichipichi NHK” (“pichipichi” means “lively”) and consists of Oshima Yuko, Maeda Atsuko, Shinoda Mariko, Itano Tomomi, Watanabe Mayu, Takahashi Minami, Kashiwagi Yuki, Sashihara Rino, and Yokoyama Yui.
NHK is launching 19 shows this spring, with the first ones starting on March 28. The 19 shows have been split up into 9 genres, and each of the Team Pichipichi members will be in charge of one of the genres. The genres are:
* Sports (Oshima)
* Creative (Maeda)
* Common knowledge (Shinoda)
* Entertainment (Itano)
* Anime (Watanabe)
* History (Takahashi)
* Work (Kashiwagi)
* Radio (Sashihara)
* Health (Yokoyama)
The promotional unit will be active between the end of March and the middle of April. They will appear in mini-programs on NHK, on posters, and on a new website called “HaruNavi” that will be used to promote the shows.

On Monday, idol group AKB48 updated their official blog to announce that they have opened a bank account for receiving donations for earthquake relief, which will be passed on to the Japanese Red Cross. In the blog post, it was revealed that some of the members of the AKB48 family (which includes AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, and SDN48) were affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami. The groups felt that they wanted to do something to help all the victims of the disasters, so they decided to work with the Japanese Red Cross for accepting donations. Members of the AKB48 idol franchise announced on Tuesday that they plan to donate 500 million yen towards the ongoing earthquake relief efforts. The group also announced yesterday that they are collecting donations from fans on behalf of the Japanese Red Cross. The 500 million yen was gathered from the members of AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, and SDN48, as well as others who are managed by AKS and producer Akimoto Yasushi’s own agency. AKB48 also announced on Tuesday that they are delaying the release of their album “Koko ni Ita Koto” (originally scheduled for April 6).

Avex held a press conference today to announce details for this year’s a-nation tour, which will proceed despite the effects of the earthquake in the Tohoku region. This will be the 10th time that the annual tour has been held, and its full name has been set as “a-nation 10th Anniversary for Life: Charge & Go! Weider in Jelly.”
While the expected Avex artists such as Hamasaki Ayumi and Koda Kumi are participating, this year’s lineup also includes idol group AKB48 for the first time. While AKB48 is not signed under Avex, their recently formed sub-unit DiVA is making its debut under Avex later this month.

The tour will consist of 7 shows at 5 venues, starting with Ehime (July 30), then Fukuoka (August 6), Aichi (August 13), Osaka (August 20-21), and Tokyo (August 27-28).
Tickets will be sold for 7,900 yen, with 100 yen of the price being donated to charity. In consideration of the power shortages caused by the earthquake and tsunami, Avex will be preparing power supply trucks at the venues. The company also plans to make the Tokyo concert on August 28 available for “free public viewing” at Ito Yokado shops in the tsunami-stricken areas.
In addition, Avex will sell goods bearing the logo “for Life,” and auction off items like the artists’ stage outfits. Part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Oricon has released its sales rankings for the first half of 2011. As expected, AKB48 had the strongest showing, with the only two million-selling singles (“Everyday, Kachusha” and “Sakura no Ki ni Narou”) and the #2 album (“Koko ni Ita Koto”). Counting all of their sales from singles, albums, and DVDs, AKB48 racked up a total amount of 6.66 billion yen, the highest for any artist so far this year. Naturally, they also ranked #1 in total single sales.
The rankings cover the period from December 27, 2010, to June 20, 2011, using actual sales data collected from approximately 39,700 retail stores nationwide. For that period, half of the top 10 singles came from AKB48 and its related artists, while Johnny's Jimusho artists occupied three spots.

AKB48’s Team 4 had its roster shaken up on Friday, with the announcement of Oba Mina’s suspension and Mori Anna’s graduation. The news came the same day as the announcement of NMB48 member Shimada Rena’s suspension.
Like Shimada’s case, both Oba and Mori were caught in “scandals” involving their personal blogs from the past. As a result, Oba has resigned from the position of Team 4 captain, and she has also requested a self-suspension from her entertainment activities for now. Oba has also decided to withdraw from the upcoming “senbatsu janken tournament” on September 20th.
Meanwhile, Mori is immediately graduating from the group, due to the combination of this scandal and her back pains that have been keeping her from fully participating in the group’s theater performances.
Both Oba and Mori joined AKB48 as 9th generation research students. This past June, they both were promoted to official member status as part of AKB48′s newly established Team 4.

The newest AKB48 attraction opens in Akihabara this week – the brand new AKB48 cafe and shop will have it’s grand opening on Thursday 29th September and it’s location couldn’t be more easier to find for fans – it’s very close to the Electric Town exit of Akihabara train station, next door to the Gundam cafe.
This isn’t just an ordinary place for fans. Theater performances will be broadcasted to a special area in the building on a large screen in which you can relax on comfortable sofas enjoying the performance. A buffet will also be available so you can stuff your face whilst watching the girls!! This will cost 2700 yen and you have to book in advance. The cafe area will have I think AKB48 themed food. For 2000 yen you get your food and drink plus a commemorative photo. But if you want the ultimate experience then you can hire a private viewing room for up to 16 of your friends for 10,000 yen for 2 hours. All of AKB48′s DVD back catalogue will be available to view here. Unfortunately you won’t be able to just walk into the cafe area as you’ll have to make a reservation for that as well. Same goes for the private viewing room.
As for the shop, am I taking it that the current shop which is currently on the 5th floor of the Don Quixote building is closing and moving here? I’m not 100% sure but you might need to make a reservation to go to the shop too (this will only last for the first couple of months just like the Harajuku shop). The website doesn’t make it clear that’s the problem. I’m looking forward to visiting the place in December.

I mean, it's not like the girls would be there to serve customers so it's just like any other cafe but with AKB themes and AKB vids to watch.You know what? Fuji TV has announced several new cast members for its popular variety show “Waratte Iitomo!” The new regulars are AKB48 member Sashihara Rino (18), comedian Watanabe Naomi (23), and comedian Yamazaki Hironari. In addition, the “Iitomo Seinentai” will get its first Johnny's Jr. members, as both Nozawa Yuki (18) and Sanada Yuma (18) are joining the team.
This past week, comedy duo Audrey, model Sasaki Nozomi, actress Manda Hisako, and talento Yamaguchi Tomomitsu all graduated as cast members of “Waratte Iitomo!” With the start of the fall season, Sashihara, Watanabe, and Yamazaki will be filling in the vacancies.
Sashihara will be a regular on Wednesdays, while fellow AKB48 member Akimoto Sayaka will be moved from Wednesdays to Fridays. At the age of 18, Sashihara is now tied with actress Adachi Yumi (30) for the record of the youngest woman to become a regular member on the show.
Watanabe will join the lineup on Mondays. Yamazaki will appear on Thursdays.
Nozawa and Sanada will be known as the unit “noon boyz,” serving as the show’s 16th “Iitomo Seinentai,” who work as assistants on the show, including doing the usual opening dance.
All of the new members will start appearing on the show this week.

Japan is expensive. Tokyo and Osaka consistently rank among the most expensive cities in the world. With the strong yen, Japan is even pricier for foreign visitors. It's no steal for nerds, either. It's highway robbery.
Geek mecca Akihabara has a bevy of maid cafes to tempt otaku with cutesy food. Popular dishes include "rice omelets" or "hot cakes", which are usually somewhere between ¥700 to ¥1,000 (US$9 to $13) at Akihabara maid cafes—well, ones staffed by dudes dressed as anime chicks. At normal restaurants, you can get a rice omelet—which is rice, eggs, and ketchup—for around ¥500 ($6.50)
Portions, of course, aren't usually as generous as they are in the States.
AKB48, Japan's most popular idol group opened a pricey, new cafe in Akihabara last week. Rice omelets cost ¥1,480 ($19)—ditto for unappetizing pasta. The menu was drawn up by the AKB48 girls, something that costs patrons a premium.

Anyone who's been to touristy theme restaurants in the U.S. or Europe can vouch for crazy high prices. The point usually isn't the food, but the experience.
The cafe has a private room or "secret base", which is covered in doodles and signatures by AKB48 members. Fans can also doodle in a designated space on the wall. The room has AKB48 DVDs and magazines available for perusal. It costs ¥10,000 ($130) to rent the room for two hours.

You'd probably be better off at a regular old maid cafe. Then again, you might not be a hardcore AKB48 fan, willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for stacks of CD singles for the group's handshaking events.
Apparently, around 200 people turned up when the cafe opened its doors.
Whether it be sports or idols, otaku fans are hardcore. They obsess and love things to bits. That shouldn't be a license to fleece them. Sadly, though, it is.

The first one is a group called AKB48, and right now this is absolutely the biggest thing in Japan. When I say the biggest thing in Japan to give you a little outline of what they are doing, they had 5 million selling singles last year and they just sell tons and tons of stuff. And they have fans of all ages, all origins, all sexes and all everything. But you‟ve got to watch this video clip from one of their songs and you can immediately see my attraction to Japanese music. This is a song called „Heavy Rotation‟ from AKB48.

Marty: Now this is freaking rad man, this is just like everything that the antithesis of negativity, I mean you cannot be unhappy and watch this video, I‟m telling you. It‟s like pure sugar just going drilled into your teeth and if you can stand that it‟s the greatest thing. For me and my personal taste, when I see something like this, it`s just deep on every single level. I mean there‟s absolutely nothing, no part that I can say “well I don‟t like this about this I don‟t like that” about it. To me when I hear that, it reminds me of the Bay City Rollers, but with 48 of the cutest girls in the country singing it with a powerful 8 beat behind it. World-class production and it`s just the ultimate. When I hear that song it makes me go crazy. And this is just one of their many hit singles. There‟s 48 girls in this unit and that gives fans a lot of different things to argue about, a lot of different things to like, talk to their friends about and trade cards with. It‟s almost like a baseball team, who‟s your favorite player, who‟s your favorite singer and who‟s your favorite dancer. And on a business level nothing could be more genius than the AKB48 business. For one thing, the fans of AKB48, not only AKB48 but similar groups, will buy more than one version of the same song. They will buy more than one disc of the same album, they will buy more than one of everything even if they have the same version, they will buy like two or three. First of all they will buy one copy just to save it, so it doesn‟t get beat up. Then they‟ll get one copy to listen to and then there will be another version with a different cover, that will be like one red cover and one blue cover. And they will buy that as well, even though what‟s inside the CD is exactly the same. They may have a trading card that comes with the CD, and maybe one of those singers is in there. So if you keep buying CDs until you find that special trading card of your favorite singer you can buy 10-20 CDs before you have the CD that you want.
But these fans love to do it and it is not only because the girls are cute or because the marketing is good, it‟s because the product itself is really, really well done. I mean if you listen to the song, that song is extremely well done.

AKB48 (APINACA, N-(1-adamantyl)-1-pentyl-1H-indole-3-carboxamide) is a drug that presumably acts as a potent agonist for the cannabinoid receptors. It had never previously been reported in the scientific or patent literature, and was first identified by laboratories in Japan in March 2012 as an ingredient in synthetic cannabis smoking blends.[1] Structurally it closely resembles cannabinoid compounds from patent WO 2003/035005 but with a simple pentyl chain on the indazole 1-position, and AKB48 falls within the claims of this patent despite not being disclosed as an example. AKB48 was made illegal in Japan in 2012,[2] and was banned as a temporary class drug in New Zealand from 13th July 2012.[3]

The theater that opened on the 8th day of December in the year 2005 has already reached its 7th year.
We may have done things over and over through trial and error, and we may have done a lot of things

M: before to take part to the interview, I minded to think like: “today I’ll be asked various things, so I’ve to do it properly!”, but then I came to cry! (laughs) When I talk with Takahashi (Eiki) director it always reminds me like: “that’s right!, at such intervews I come to cry every time”…
Y: (laughs). About me, because it’s an interview about the movie, intead of talk with the director as a member I’m more like: “in Japan there’re girls/guys who’re waiting for such an idea and method”, I’ve a feeling we faced to it with the awareness that it would be good if many, many people will know about AKB48.
YK: actually, until that interview, when I had to think about AKB’s future I couldn’t express anything into words. But then, when I thought: “is it ok?”, real intention came out seriously. I wonder if it won’t be good if this time the movie will talk about ourselves completely.
M: it’s however a movie which let you to look back to this dark year, also knowing about members we don’t know and their feelings, knowing about the whole AKB48. Basing on them, this year we’ve to do it, we should accomplish to things, in order to can overcome them we’ve to get our streinght, that’s what I think. And in order to achieve it, we’ve to instruct young members, we’ve to bring up their potential one by one.
Y: when Takamina General Supervisor talks about young members’ training, you can only agree with her words. It’s because I just follow the General Supervisor! If we’re talking about individual streinght, this year both Yukirin and Takamina have a solo debut, am I right?
YK: it was the first of my dreams, that’s why I want do it with earnest. Right now I started to starring in a drama ([Mielii no Kashiwagi]) and having shooting for it, and get used to such a exchange is a little bit hard.
M: about me, my solo debut was my most important dream too, that’s why I think it’ll become a big junction. And it’s for this right reason that… I’ve no other choise but work so damn hard!
Y: last year the one and only image of AKB48, Acchan (Maeda Atsuko) graduated, but Akimoto (Yasushi)-sensei was like: “there won’t be a time for Oshima Yuko to graduate until there won’t be a next Oshima Yuko”… I wonder how it will turn out (laughs).
M: I wonder if I came to hate AKB48 even a little bit… I love everyone. And right because I love everyone too much, I come to think like: “if I do such a thing won’t it(n://the group and everyone) get better?”, but captain and General Supervisor is just a way to be called.
YK: about me, feelings that I’m having now is that I still want to take advantage of AKB48, something which I learned with solo. That’s why AKB48 is going to work harder than ever as well. Until now when my work got over I came back home directly, but it was since last year that it seems I started to go out and have a meal with members, and I also changed my way of thinking. Nowadays, I’m quite ok to meet with Mii-chan (Minegishi Minami) and Sashihara (Rino) and “let’s go and eat tasty things!”, that’s the most enjoyable thing in private life.
M: for Yukirin this has been a very big change but, that’s somehow sad! (laughs). I’ve not a private life at all as well, but… But, at (Yokoyama) Yui-chan’s 20 birthday party we charged up, right? “I’m all alone~”, she said so we came to talk like: “let’s go to have a meal together!”, but everyone are rapidly grouping together.
Y: we became about 10 people, didn’t we? It was a good thing that we didn’t think about it in advice, but everyone wanted to celebrate it all together (n://on that right moment). I went on a Hong Kong travel with Noro Kayo (original member) and I had fun. We went to shopping, we had a foot massage, we ate YUM CHA, we had a night cruising…
YK: that’s good!, enjoyment is overflowing (laughs). I’ll get a more “out door” personality too this year!
I wonder Why sucessor as General director must to be member only?
So I think Aki-p have to hire outsoure if Takamina doesn't want as General director anymore when she graduated from akb.
