Errr... Hello again everyone? It's been a long while, and... Well...
I can offer excuses. Between golf, a girlfriend, and family issues... I'm also looking at colleges and getting ready for that big step. So it's been hectic. Man, I wish those days back in middle school when I actually had time to do things. But my writing was atrocious then.
In any case, Two Roses will be back on track once I have a moment to breathe. I will post a oneshot I had on tumblr but never posted on here. A rather short one as well.
Because Hospital Food Sucks
Jurina picked at the mush on the white tray, a seemingly indescribable mix of what looked like peas, mashed potatoes, and chicken, but actually turned out to be a smoothie of discolored chunks. It was, quite frankly, disgusting and unappetizing in every way.
“And they want me to get better and rest up,” she chuckled to herself, playing around with a single green pea and trying to stab it with her fork. “I feel like I’m going to be poisoned instead.”
Sighing, she moved the pea around some more before scooping up a small bit of the food, holding it up in front of her face. She sniffed. No smell. It would probably be just as tasteless, too. On the count of three, Jurina thought to herself. One. Two. Three. She put it into her mouth and chewed, swallowing after a couple seconds. Yup, no taste, only a slightly awful slimy texture. She set her fork down onto the tray and took a sip of water. “This… I know I have to eat, but…”
Fortunately, the door opened at that exact moment, and Jurina looked up, expecting to see a fussing nurse or the doctor. Instead, it was her fellow SKE48 member, and the other girl on the team who shared her surname. Rena walked in with grace and a quiet manner, holding a white convenience store bag and smiling at the girl in bed. “Hello, Jurina.”
“Heya, Rena,” Jurina grinned back, grateful for the distraction from the food she still needed to eat. Rena set the bag gently on the floor and took a seat next to the white hospital bed, smoothing the wrinkles on her skirt out.
“How are you feeling?” Rena asked, looking worriedly at Jurina. As always, the girl seemed lively, if pale, concealing the exhaustion that constantly haunted her.
“I’m alright,” she replied. “I’m properly resting up, so I’ll be out there with you again, Rena. Even if I have Team K duties too, I’ll always be a part of SKE48.”
Rena hummed. “Is that so?”
“What, don’t believe me?” Jurina cockily grinned.
“Whether or not I do, just make sure you get your health back up to one hundred percent,” Rena responded, lightly flicking Jurina’s forehead and watching the younger girl wince and pout. “Then we can talk about that.”
“Right, right,” Jurina said. Rena’s eyes looked down at the almost untouched food on the tray.
“You’re not eating?” Rena asked.
“You try eating this stuff.” Jurina made a face and pushed the tray further away. Rena softly laughed at the reaction.
“Luckily you have me, right?” Rena reached down and picked the convenience store bag up, taking out a few healthy snacks and vegetable drinks. Nothing spectacular, but anything was better than hospital food at this point, something Rena definitely knew. Eagerly, Jurina took the items and shoved her tray aside, sending an extremely grateful smile at the older Matsui.
“You are a lifesaver, Rena,” she thanked. Rena blushed a little with the amount of gratitude Jurina shone with. “But what I’d really like, though…”
“Hmm?”
Jurina wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, smirking at Rena’s lips intently. Rena blushed, fiddled with her fingers for a moment before sighing and relenting to the stubborn girl’s will. “You know you want to~”
“Alright, you flirt,” Rena conceded, bending down and placing a gentle kiss on Jurina’s forehead, her face colored with red. Jurina smiled as she felt the warmth. “And that’s all you’re getting.”
“Aww, come’on!” Jurina pouted, trying to give Rena her best puppy-eyed look. Rena bonked Jurina lightly on the head.
“Nope. Now eat and rest, okay? I have to go do some work now.”
“Work hard, Rena.”
“I will.”
“Thanks for the food and take care!”
“You better take care of yourself, Jurina.”
The door shut behind Rena’s retreating figure, leaving Jurina alone in the sterile room with nothing but some food and drinks to keep her company.
“Seriously, thank you Rena. Love you.”
Unbeknownst to the bedridden girl, Rena was leaning against the closed dear, listening to the words she just uttered and laying hesitant fingers on her warm lips.
