What would make H!P more interesting and better for you?
What would you like to see and change? What wouldn't you change?
Would the changes be temporary or last far ahead into the future?
And also, do you think the H!P you'd like to see would also appeal to others (as in, the Japanese audience) or would H!P's image suffer even more? :lol:

Well, even if I love H!P there are many things in a way that I'd like to change.
First of all, the quality of music. I wrote two long paragraphs at first, but let's try to make this short. Basically, what I'd like to hear are
- more hooks in MM songs
- more special solo lines in MM songs - think AS FOR ONE DAY, I think the way the lines are shared there is genius
- adding some harmony wouldn't hurt - even if they were just c/ws or album tracks, I'd like to hear songs that resemble the old school Momusu
- more upbeat songs to Ayaya - she doesn't have to go back to kiddy, mature songs can be upbeat, too
- no second Koi no hana with vocal cluster and weird melody to Nacchi
What I'm 100% satisfied with are Berryz Kobo singles.
I don't think good songs would help their image in Japan a lot, though. Iroppoi was a good song imo, but it still didn't sell a lot.
For a long time I've also hoped an actual band was formed of H!P members. It could be Eggs or Country Musume or Ayaka thrown in... The members don't really matter to me because I'm sure I'd start to like them anyway. It'd be a whole new thing for H!P. The unit would be like Zone, a mix of idol and artist - I think there was a name for those but I can't remember what it was. Anyway, this would also be a way for Tsunku to express himself in rock'n'roll. And I think a unit like this *might* make Japan notice that H!P isn't all talentless pretty loli girls. And in the end, it's definitely not impossible to learn to play an instrument. :lol:
I'd start releasing singles with C-ute because I want to hear them, damnit. I'd probably buy their single.
I also wish there was a "permanent" subgroup again. The members don't really matter. Maybe try to attract audience by setting up a competition - putting two subgroups against each other and say that only the one that sells more can continue. Make a show about it or something. I know it'd probably be hard to get more air-time to H!P, but hey, one can always try, right... Anyway, I'd personally find that really interesting, and it'd add some rivalry to Momusu, too.

What would make it better for me would be..
- Tsunku writing better lyrics, because most of the ones he does are just weird.
- Morning Musume having concerts in places besides Hawaii or HK, or just visiting places outside Japan.
- keeping the H!P groups active like Melon Kinenbi.
- More games in Hello! Morning with everyone in H!P, not only Morning Musume.
- NOT HAVING LOW-BUDGET PVs. No more simple backgrounds.

MKB should do an international tour.
Seems like theyre not doing that much anyways. And it doesnt even have to be an elaborate high profile thing. A bunch of small independent bands manage to do the girl groups tour in the us every spring so hp should be able to pull it off.
Like shirenu, Id like to see hp form a real band. But, alas, in reality, imagine instruments played like sayu sings...

I'd like to see more from the older generation of members - Nacchi, Maki, Kaori, Mari and Yuko. They're still around and H!P needs a better feeling of continuity.

-Less of MM being marketed as blatant masturbation fodder. Back in the day they seemed a lot more user friendly. There wasn't a wota/lolicon stigma attached to MM so they could appear in more TV ads and in advertisements. There were also more girl fans and I suspect that there were a lot more sales for that reason. No more bikini PBs, no more risque dances involving skirts and underwear, no more crazy outfits that don't fit the theme of the song. More marketing as "normal girls" and not as these untouchable idol goddesses.
-More attention paid to soloists careers. Ayaya has the right idea, don't only market your songs (on TV, performances, etc), market yourself too. They should be in more commercials, make more appearances, try to do some drama themes. And They should get better songs. No more ballads for a while.
-Re-do MK's image. Make it more of a dance group maybe. I think that last single might have turned a few fans off. Re-do Kaori's image too. And create and image for Kei.
-Except for Berryz, everyone needs better songs. And the girls need to actually sing more instead of relying so much on backing tracks and harmonization built into the karaoke track. There are always backing tracks for Iroppoi, and Chokkan2 for example. And the Kids always have backing tracks. And I know that H!P can harmonize on their own and carry the chorus on their own. I had a feeling that MM didn't actually sing a lot of the chorus of Chokkan2 (the Souda's, the chorus at the very end, etc). So essentially, all they do now is lip synch and look cute.

Dude, h!p makes the vast majority of its money from concerts, fan club events, and merchandise sold at concerts. If they only had a tour once every two years then every single would have to go platinum for h!p to remain profitable. Concerts are the reason why single sales have steadily decreased but h!p's profit margins keep increasing.

This is purely personal opinion and I dunno if "better marketing" would be the term for it but I would like to see more H!P girls in doramas. I'm HUGE on dorama-watching and as much as I love Nacchi, Ayaya and Gocchin, it's kinda disappointing that they are the only ones who do get major roles in fairly prominent doramas. I do find myself wondering every now and then as to why I get to see at least one Johnny member doing key roles in every single dorama season there is. Even the REALLY obscure Johnnys Juniors that nobody takes notice of coz they dance backup and do little else. >_<
But H!P appearances on doramas are few and far between and I would love to see more H!P members doing more dorama. That would make H!P better for me. :)

One thing I can currently think of is to allow the girls to perform things outside of singing, in things that they want to do.
For example stage drama, TV dorama, musical drama, instrumental performance, CM, host of shows, sports, etc.

Look at Momusu concerts, they have the same songs as the last concert, as the last last last concert, etc. Don't you find it cheap how their gaining profit every same concert ea. year? They do come up with a new song, but 3/4 songs ea. concert isnt satisfying enough I'd say. But this is an opinion.
ALSO you could say, concerts = decrease in profit, which kinda means fanclub tours and merchandise sells stablelize (sp?) and even increase HP profit margins lol.
I don't think the point of concerts is to hear new songs. If you want to hear new songs then just listen to the single. Concerts are about the energy and the performance, the emotional impact is greater and everything is more intense. H!P songs are meant to be experienced live. Also, you can't judge a concert on the songlist, you have to judge it on the overall performance and experience it provides. I don't find it cheap at all that h!p earns their money from concerts, I would actually find it cheap if they didn't because it would mean we were being deprived of a very integral part of the music. All in all, I found the concerts this year to be very satisfying, even though I don't like the practice of song pooling. HPP, High Score, Triangle Energy, BariBari, and both grad concerts were excellent.
And no, you couldn't say "concerts = decrease in profit". That doesn't even make sense. Tickets are priced to cover the cost of the event by themselves, merchandise just add to that profit.
One last thing, live performances are the lifeblood of any artist. It's where they earn the majority of their money and where they establish the greatest connection with their fans. The only artists that can survive without constant touring are those with such large and stable fanbases that the artist doesn't have to do anything except release a single and hold a special concert every few years, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney come to mind.

I do find myself wondering every now and then as to why I get to see at least one Johnny member doing key roles in every single dorama season there is. Even the REALLY obscure Johnnys Juniors that nobody takes notice of coz they dance backup and do little else. >_<

That would be awesome. Just look at how that helped the johnny's guys last season in dramas. Everyone loves the Johnny's in the IRC :lol:

Agree with what JB said. Furthermore as being a fan of any artist in this world, one main thing is to have the chance and have more chances to see the artist live. Listening to CD, watching DVD, TV, and magazines doesn't satistfy what a fan wants.
Having lots of concerts in a year is not a bad thing. It's actually a good time for fans to enjoy their time with the artists they like, watching them perform live, seeing them live, and enjoying the atmosphere.

agree with what you said too. But what I'm saying is just a suggestion in fans' point of view.
But ya... in general sales nowaday is determined and caused by many factors. Song quality, promotion, artist's fame, pirated copies, etc. So I kind of think even if H!P and Tsunku do so well in their musics and performances, pirated copies will kill singles/albums sale. On the other hand if the pirated copies are all gone, the sales may not do well because of crappy musics/performances, and fans attitude towards MM.

But hey, I don't think you get what I'm trying to say - yeah its true concerts "are About the energy and the performance" and not "the songlist" but the idea of what I'm trying to say is plainly "WTF IS WITH THE SAME SONGLISTED CONCERT?" I didn't say single profits have decreased because of concerts, single sales decreased on their own and that is the nature of idol groups. It also doesn't help that japan is in yet another anti-idol stage. We've already discussed the songlist issue at length in the irc, so we'll just have to agree to disagree on that point. Lastly, I was trying to illustrate the importance of the concerts from both a financial perspective and a fan perspective. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong, I was trying to understand your perspective while providing an alternative perspective with the ultimate goal being an increased understanding of h!p. I think I understand you better now, do you understand me better now?

I agree. If people won't buy their music now, maybe they'll watch them on TV, think they are cool, the buy their music. That's how SMAP got so famous in the first place. They need to stay on the media radar. I don't want MM to fade into this exclusive "for fan club members" and concert goers only thing. I think they are talented in many ways and the general public should be able to enjoy them.

I agree. MM on TV more would be great. I think less focus on just the concert-going fans and more towards a general audience would make h!p better for me, since that would also mean I get to see more of them. Not to mention the whole stigma thing..that's one thing h!p could do without.

- Less hair colouring, keep it natural please
- No projecting of personas unnatural to H!P girls. Idol girls are not expected to be intelligent, so don't act like it. H!P and MM should be about harmless fun. In the same vain, no music styles unnatural to H!P. It's got to be fun. Some ballads are OK but not to much.
- Although the 'save the warming earth campaign' makes my environmentalist heart beat faster, I am afraid it's just a bit too cheesy. Some people may think: "These girls were supposed to make me forget my worries and now they want to make me worry about global warming? I don't know what to think about them anymore". The message is OK but promote it in a more subtle way please.
I'd also like to see more H!P members in CMs and doramas, but I'm afraid actors get asked because they are popular, not the other way around. Comparing H!P to Johnny's is not fair because Johnny's is much more popular (don't underestimate the obsessive buying power of fangirls) and in the japanese dorama market males have it easier. Female actors either have to be new, young and fresh or well established. Most H!P girls are neither. If you're unknown, you might have a better chance of landing a part in a dorama because you're new, cheaper and don't have the girl idol stigma associated with you. Another problem is time, for some girls it might be difficult to find a gap between concerts, futsal games/practice, H!M, recording sessions, dance practice, fanclub events and maybe even school.
That leads me to sports. I like futsal and the sports festival very much. But again, not too much. I want the H!P girls to be about "singing, dancing, exciting!". Not about strains and other injuries.

I think most of the stuf I'd like to see has already been said:
- More fun games on H!M
- More activity from other groups and artists
- Better songwriting (I prefer the more fun songs)
- No more cheap ass PVs
- Other H!P members on H!M
- Maybe something with the older MM members doing a tour of their songs.
- I hadn't thought much a bout it before, but a live band would rock.
- More Ayaka's english lessons.

there's a saying: even bad publicity is good publicity. i don't believe it one bit.
letting mari lead a group or something would be nice (ZYX wasn't too bad...). she was always popular, and now that she's single again...
more random mixed groups. (kinda related to the last point). Aa! (anyone remember them?) was great. ZYX was great. how can they involve the elder members more? mix them up with the kids and make some new sound. revive old groups like tanpopo and puccimoni. bring minimoni back. H!P concerts mix up the members and make them sing these oldschool songs anyway, why not make them legit?
less crappy PVs. stop with the dancing-focused pvs... they're kinda boring (whether or not the song is good). go back to the wacky randomness of Ayaya's Momoiro Kataomoi (which used the PV to tell a story).
stop with the version 2... i don't want to buy a cd which had two or three songs from the last album, only with lyrics slightly changed.
Tsunku is currently producing Tokito Ami (i think) the girl who sings the opening and closing themes to School Rumble 2nd Semester. She couldn't have joined H!P? how do you make H!P better? Get the H!P girls involved with things like this. Having H!P members in random dramas was ok. Getting Yossie and Koharu in an anime is a step in the right direction.
Get the less popular groups in the spotlight. They're not as popular as momusu.. but why? because they don't do anything and no one's writing them new songs.
use members' strengths: risa.. not a great singer, but i love her the most. why? she's got an awesome personality and she's hilarious. she can talk for hours. send her to random music talk shows. ("first, we go outside into the next building...")
Makochan was a great host during the Hello Pro News hour. why is she leaving? her spotlight's been moved to eri. she gets no love.
takahashi is a strong singer. she gets all the lines. but she's also incredibly boring. remember that utaban episode with HP allstars? all she had to say was that she collected 500 yen coins. wow. sing good, but talk obviously not her strong point.
sayumi. i love her to death but the super cute thing gets tiring quick. pick up one or two more traits to embrace. watching new members change as they grow older is a major draw.
eri has definately changed from when she first joined. i don't like her at all, but she's definately gotten more outgoing and that's good.
yup... that's it for now... i'm sure i'll have more gripes in the future.
ahh one more thing. vary music styles more. sheki dol was awesome. the music was unfortunately not right for the time, but it would definatly work now. girlie rock is more appreciated now.

now i remember. stop with the lip synching (berryz, minimoni, shuffle groups, c-ute, etc). you're fooling no one. these girls are supposed to be singers/dancers. let them actually sing and dance. we can tell when you mic them. Tomiko Van is a terrible Live Singer, but people went to Do as Infinity concerts anyway to see them live. if a girl can't sing and dance at the same time, then let her stand still and sing while every once else dances.

More Mako goodness. She just lights up the screen in all those Hello Morning skits.
A short drama like 'Angel Hearts' would be good but this time please focus more on the other members.
Oh I would be really really happy if there was a Mako + KonKon documentry/series or even a movie special :D

takitty and her not speaking up.. i think it's because she's cautious about her accent? i know no one really minds it and it's sort of funny and could be considered a charm point but if you're teased often, i dont think you'll enjoy it. i dont know if i'm correct but her tettekette (or how ever it's spelt) nick name she got on utaban is from the way she talks..
- what i want is.. more upbeat song for aya.. it's like tsunku already devided the songs: slow ones for aya and up beat one for maki...
- aya sings well with live bands and so does the girls on HPH so i wish i can have more of that in their singles/album..

h!P wouldve become so much better if they got rid of this lady years ago (but the iroppoi dance surprised me tho, lol she mustve been on break when they made the dance for this song). her dances were nice and fun to dance to 6 years ago (RR21 dance) but now... ugggh. why cant they dance like that lady in kamei's dokyu who trained her personally?

more promotion of the 'kids'. i liked the idea of having the elders with the kids- they can mentor them. the elders have been through it all before.
more promotion full stop. put them in doramas (is ai-chan going to be in one soon? i swear i read that) and anime (koharu.. bleh. plenty better choices!), and like someone else said, put risa on talk shows. i was in fits of laughter at her buildings talk!

Bring back some of that uncertainty and crazyness that the first~fourth gen had to go through. Watching the first shuffles be announced is so much fun because no one knows wtf is going on and everything has to happen then and there. More moments like that to create some possible drama and fun moments would really make me more interested. Also, more videos that show the recording process of a single, who gets what line, who does harmonies etc. I love that stuff.

But H!M should get more interessting/funny in the past it was so funny but nowadays most Episodes are just boring all the same. if they want to do the same then they should to more older things. I know it must not be easy to come up everytime with new stuff after years.
One thing would be Yuko back as Host.

What would I like today? Well...
- HM back with silly games (with the whole H!P/shuffled H!P members instead of just Momusu)
- 9th gen Morning Musume auditions. And I actually want many new members lol. At least 3. XD
- Sports Fest back
- S/mileage PB without swimsuit pictures, and generally more graceful marketing of the younger girls

Resurrect H!M and moar members! I'm talking about old school H!M, though, not 'let's sit around the table and pick peoples brains' I want screaming and balloons blowing up with bugs and snakes inside! And getting sprayed in the face with that foggy like stuff! Lame jokes and impressions and lot's of costumes! And the judging event. I liked that.

Again, bring back Hello!Morning! Hell, more H!P TV in general. While I miss old H!M, really more TV appearances for all of H!P would be really nice. This is why I'm more into old school H!P and MM more than H!P Kids; the kids don't get too many TV appearances and I therefore don't get to see enough of them. H!M would be really nice, though.
Also, 8th gen photobooks. And a unit for Sekine Azusa.

Bring back Hello! Morning and stop having the same leads in songs over and over again. =P That's really the biggest problems I have. Other than that, it's fine.

1. Merge Berryz Kobo and C-ute.
2. New auditions. Have Mano join this generation compulsory like Mikitty did. Hell, have Melon Kinen Bi join too, more the merrier.
3. More interesting drama/movie/variety appearances. They've really failed in this so much through the years, it's like nobody in Japan knows who the MM members are anymore, and the only way to actually become popular is to actually first leave MM. :shocked

Ten years ago, Morning Musume (and Hello! Project, by association) was all over TV with multiple shows all the time. But like everything great, that couldn't last forever. In particular, I was disappointed when SMS and Hello! Project parted ways after they did Nakki's Hitler Show, since that also meant no more Cyborg Shibata 4 was to be forthcoming.
But recently, some of the old TV domination has been coming back. Q.E.D., Sayu's talk show domination and Mano dramas are a good start, I think.
I see Hanbun Esper as a kind of spiritual successor to Cyborg Shibata. Cute Kanagawa girl with powers she can't control doing zany things with hilariously cheesy special effects and Morning Musume guest stars. I love it already.
Mano Spy is just lols. First episode with a hitman targeting her has a hilarious ending.
But what would make it even better for me is yes, bringing back a Hello! Morning type of show. I'm pretty sure just about everyone has said something similar.

Music
I'm obviously very genre-biased, but yeah. I love EDM-Musume but it's not perfect; a switch to more hip-hop style drum patterns and slower tempos with that electronic sound would've made some good songs great and great songs even better! Similar with non-EDM H!P music; more syncopated drum rhythms and stronger beats in production would've made a lot of songs more appealing for me.
TV Shows
Yeah, I must admit I can be a bit slow keeping up with Hello Station and other stuff, but the main thing that made me a fan in the first place was the girls' TV appearances, whether it was regular guest appearances on Utaban and Mechaike or their own silly variety shows like Hello! Morning and Haromoni@. Let's bring back skits like the Haromoni Theater Bus Stop! Certain girls like Zukki and Maachan would've been perfect for that.
Member ages
This one's a bit iffy; I understand why they're picked young and admittedly some of my all-time favorite members had started early. But it feels weird when everyone is skewing young and the older girls are being nudged into "considering" graduation. I think H!P was at its strongest when it had a good range of ages represented, and variety is always good when you have these many idols vying for attention. Plus I'm getting older myself and it feels awkward knowing I'm older than some of these girls' parents now. :nervous Some older Trainees are still waiting in the wings, let's give them a chance to shine!
Idol management
I gotta say, compared to the past, and compared to some other companies I've read about, UFA really does do a decent job taking care of their talents for the most part (such as Manakan and Aika). But sometimes you gotta wonder if they could do better with certain girls. I thought Ai Kago had been punished too harshly for her wrongdoings, and Zukki could've benefitted from better guidance regarding her weight management (could've avoided that rebound late last year). And then there are high performance girls like Riho and Miki who also seem injury prone and deserve some dialing back or some extra breaks, given their increased expectations.
T-shirts
I'm sure lots of people will agree with me on this. :lol: Kobushi Factory has been wearing some awesome shirts in their recent single's promotion (http://picroda.jphip.com/hp/jphip37017.jpg) yet they're not selling this to the public! YOU'RE SITTING ON A GOLD MINE! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
More US appearances
Okay, now I'm just being selfish. :P But wishful thinking, yo! Also if they are gonna have international appearances we need better merchandise for sale than what we were given in Houston!

we put momusu and all our fav H!P-all-star members in the "Aliens"(movie from 1986) universe for a photobook and a dvd.
in the book we'll have a section with different scenerys like the mess of the USS Sulaco, inside and outside of hadleys hope and others.
another section could be fashion shots of what they wear when in hypersleep (maachan in payamas :heart:), and also the marine armor decorated with markers, ribbons and stuff.
and they can show their arming: Pulse-Rifles and smart guns decorated with markers and swarovski crystals. extremely cute and colorful. (like the did with their digi-cams in the morning-channel PB)
for the DVD we put them into different sets from the movie, like Reina roleplaying Pvt Hudson, like:
Private Tanaka: "I'm ready, man, check it out. I am the ultimate badass! State of the badass art! You do not wanna fuck with me. Check it out! Hey Maachan, don't worry. Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out! Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. Vwap! Fry half a city with this puppy. We got tactical smart missiles, phased plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks... "

so, thats basically it. in my opinion they would all look awesome in that heavy gear with the armor and the guns with funny colorful scribblings onit.
even if the scenerys would only be green-screen (better not), with a bit dirt and sweat plus good lighting to make it look authentic it'll be awesome for sure!
a pulserifle for kudo, a smart gun for ikubo, granades for maachan...weapons for everyone!
