M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender"
« on: June 23, 2009, 04:00:14 PM »
The teaser trailer is out!
http://www.mtv.com/videos/movie-trailers/403089/the-last-airbender.jhtml

The cartoon was pretty fucking awesome.  Yeah, the movie is directed by M. Night Shamalan, but yeah, no super twist here =P  I heard he wants to make it a trilogy, 1 movie for each book.  If thats the case, i can't wait to see the cg ending of his first one.

Yeah, Aang is played by a white guy/boy, but is all good. And Zuko is played by dev patel, which i can accept.. even  tho Zuko is supposed to be bald with a scar on his left eye.  I think he would fit Sokka instead.  but whateves =P

The trailer tho, thats totally the fire nation, so dope.  And Aang is bad ass already.

I saw the trailer with Transformers. Looked pretty sweet visually but I am beyond weary with M. Night Shyamalan at the helm. His movies are garbage.

The term "six sensed" of course came from him =P  He'll never top his first movie.

To me, his directing and vision is good, its just that his writing could be better.  The Last Airbender is adapted from the cartoon, so he didn't really have to write anything "new" or put a super twist or anything.  I'm fine with that.  So far, they're caught the atmosphere of the show nicely, so he's doing a good job for now.

I'm just getting through book 2.  Toph is badass, i wanna see how they do her in the movie as well.  I really hope they get Sokka right as well.  He's one funny mofo.  The fight scenes should be dope too.  There's always an epic battle for each episode.  I wonder how much they're gonna skip..

ooooo, i think i should change the topic title =)

The Last Airbender had to take out "Avatar" in the name, because of James Cameron's movie called "Avatar".  Those 2 are different movies =P  Avatar does look dope still tho =)

The critical response is just so overwhelmingly bad that I'm tempted to watch it myself. It can't possibly be as bad as "The Happening", right?

well, I just got it from netflix, and not being a diehard fan of Airbender I thought the movie itself was pretty good.
Whenever there'se a movie remade from a book or adaptation theres gonna be differences. It seemed to be definetly kiddified, but the cartoons on nic so not much of a surprise.

eh, i dunno. some of the dialogue was just hilarious, considering how poor it was. the acting... well i would say it's not very good at all. after a certain point i took this movie with a grain of salt and enjoyed it, but to each their own. after the village and this, probably never gonna watch an m. night schyamalan film again
