Dolph Lundgren

Dolph Lundgren (born Hans Lundgren on 3 November 1957) is a Swedish actor, director, model, and karateka. Well known for his tall stature and level of fitness, at peak, Lundgren stood 6' 5" (196 cm) and weighed around 240 lbs (109 kg). He belongs to a generation of film actors who epitomise the movie action hero stereotype including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Seagal, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, some of whom he has worked with in his career. Lundgren's breakthrough came when he starred in Rocky IV in 1985 as the imposing Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Since then, he has starred in more than 40 pictures, all of them in the action film genre.

He portrayed He-Man in the 1987 film Masters of the Universe, and in the early 1990s, appeared in films such as Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991), opposite Brandon Lee, Universal Soldier (1992), opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme, Joshua Tree opposite Kristian Alfonso and George Segal, and Johnny Mnemonic (1995) alongside Keanu Reeves. The Defender in 2004 marked Lundgren's directorial debut, following up with films such as The Mechanik (2005), Missionary Man (2007), Command Performance and Icarus in which he also starred.

Trailers for Lundgren’s ‘Icarus’

by Mark Pollard | February 8, 2010

Action star and filmmaker Dolph Lundgren is turning up everywhere these days. UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: REGENERATION, with Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme came out on home video last week in the U.S. and now his latest self-directed actioner, ICARUS, is headed to Canada’s premium channel Movie Central. It premieres on the TV station on Tuesday, February 9 at 9pm MT.

There were those who called him Icarus. Everyone else knew him as Edward Genn (Lundgren), a divorced father working for an investment company. But they didn’t know his other side—his dark side as a trained KGB assassin. Fighting for his life, Edward Genn or Icarus is forced to face the demons of his past to protect the loved ones in his present. He must fight to save the only thing he’s ever done right in his life. He needs to uncover who is after him and protect his family—before it’s too late.

TOO GOOD!!
