Heard this from the coach Jim Johnson on The Jim Rome show this morning so if you haven't seen or heard about this story, Jason McElwain aka J-Mac. an autistic basketball player on a Rochester high school team came off the bench to score 20 points in 4 minutes leading his team to victory.

"If you've seen the tape, you know what I'm talking about,'' Jim Rome said. "I'm talking bombs. They didn't open up the lane for a lay-up drill. These were Reggie Miller-type shots ... J.J. Reddick-type bombs.''

Hollywood has naturally came calling. Truly an inspiring story.

This story is truly inspiring. Someone is definitely looking over J-Mac. I think his story would make a great Hollywood movie.

J-Mac's Mom was on Jim Rome this morn. Everyone choking up. Indeed, it makes you look at the special needs kids who you wish had the opprotunity to get a shot in a basketball game, let alone drain all those threes... makes you rethink on the special needs kids that you pick on in your past. Sorry Mal.

I sent a youtube link to a friend of mine who covers prep sports here in Hawaii and he was floored, speechless.

I hope Hollywood doesn't introduce too much rot into this story; in fact, I wish they'd leave this one alone.

i dunno man, this story just has exploitation written all over it. 20 pts in 4 minutes is a pretty mean feat, so why isn't he on the team then?

and i still don't get the "emotional" angle, what's so touching about a kid only being allowed to play when the team already has a large lead? the patronizing attitude just doesn't sit right with me.

It's probably because he's a special needs student. He's autistic.

The kid wasn't good enough to make the team so they made him the manager. He has been the manager for all 4 years of highschool. I think it was the last game of the season so their coach decided to allow the kid to dress out. His performance in the last 4 minutes was unbelievable.
